We loved our stay at the Walking Iron. Dave and Karisa were friendly and very informative as to things we could do in the area. Our room and the house were filled with fascinating bits of history which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our room was very comfortable with plenty of space. If you find yourself in the area, we highly recommend a stay here.

I've not stayed at many b&b's, preferring the vrbo experience instead, but Dave & Karisa's Walking Iron was definitely my best experience yet. The house was beautiful and filled with wonderful finds. My room was very comfortable and spacious. And, Karisa's breakfasts were amazing! Anyone that walks away from one of her breakfasts hungry is just nuts! Dave and Karisa are fun, warm, and gracious hosts. I definitely felt at home staying in their wonderful inn. If I find myself back in the area, I will definitely stay here again.

My husband and I sought a short getaway for our anniversary and were pleasantly surprised to find such a beautiful bed and breakfast so close to home. The elegant decor and quiet surrounds were perfect for us, and it was within a very short walk of beautiful paths and the main street and dining. My favorite bit, though, was the respect they showed in all the little details of the house for the history of it: discovering the brief plaques on the walls and photos of the original owners and original architecture was a real treat.

Working for the week in Prairie du Sac, I decided to treat myself to some pampering. David and Karisa have a lovely home in the 'Itallianate' style. You feel like you are staying in a very cozy museum. My room looked out over the garden, was on the first floor and had a lovely whirlpool tub. The bed was a dream. Karisa was kind enough to have my breakfast early on my 'work' days. And on my day off, historic downtown Mazomanie and a nature trail were both an easy walk away. If you will be within 30 miles of 'Mazo', consider treating yourself to a lovely experience.

We stayed at this lovely home for the weekend to celebrate our birthdays and had a wonderful experience. We were greeted with cheese curds and snacks which was a great plus considering we had driven a few hours and needed a pick me up snack. David and Karisa were such great hosts, they made us feel comfortable and at home. Breakfast was delicious! It was a perfect place to stay. Stayed in Clara's Veranda, such a beautiful room with a spacious and luxurious bathroom. The town was great to walk around especially on a nice sunny day. Close to breweries and the Wollersheim Winery which is also a great location. Looking forward to coming back! Thank you!

We discovered this Bed and Breakfast because of a wedding at the local Mill. What a wonderful surprise we had. It was absolutely beautiful and the host so friendly. The breakfast was delicious! We'll be back...just to stay there and visits sites around.

I have wanted to stay at this B&B ever since enjoying a Sunday brunch at The Old Field Mill not that long ago. My choice was Alsie's Retreat in December 2015 for a two night stay. A perfect warm and cozy room to spend the night away. Unfortunately I had to cut my stay short due a winter storm that was coming in. The innkeepers Dave and Karisa graciously gave me a gift certificate to accommodate my second night for a return visit! I appreciated their kindness and hospitality and look forward to stopping by again when everything is in bloom.

We loved walking into the room with the soft music greeting us. The house is beautiful. They have put so much work into restoring it. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was prompt and delicious. Everyone was impressed. I bet it would be even more beautiful in the summer with the gardens in bloom.

We stayed here for one night during the week. Room was nicely appointed and clean. Bathroom was luxurious. The owners have taken great pride in restoring this hidden gem. Breakfast was delicious. We had dinner at The Old Feed Mill and would highly recommend it as well.

We stayed 2 nights at the end of September so we could see some plays at American Players Theater in Spring Green. The location was very convenient for the plays. Madison is close enough that you can easily do day trips or eat at a wide variety of restaurants. It is also close enough to the many small towns so you can browse the local shops and to state parks with beautiful scenery and hiking trails. The owners were wonderful, sitting on the porch and listening to the fountain was relaxing and the soaking tub was heavenly.
This room is named for Lenora Kester, the Doctor's wife who lived in the house from 1899 to 1954 and especially enjoyed her gardens. The room features a Victorian floral decor, making this a perfect room to relax and reflect. A king-size iron bed, large private bath, English Art-Nouveau shower tiles and wicker furniture create a peaceful, atmosphere. Surrounding the corner whirlpool are hand-cast plaster cartouches depicting morning and night. Located on the second floor.
Named after the builder of our home and decorated in the Italianate style, the William Thompson Room contains rich burgundy wallpaper, regal carpet, hand-painted lincrusta frieze and ceiling medallion. Central to the room is a queen-size half-canopied iron bed with pillow-topped mattress. The adjoining private bath features classic-styled fixtures, ceramic floor tile and six-foot double whirlpool, giving this room a sense of royalty. Located on the second floor.
Enter your room through Doctor Kester's re-created turn-of-the-century study - medical journals and top hat neatly hung up, a crank wall phone and calendar situated as if the doctor just returned from a house call. Step under the arch and into the bedroom with Rococo gold and cream wallpaper, queen-size brass bed with cast cherubs, past the remote-controlled fireplace, and into your cozy private bath. This bath has the best of both worlds with it's large two-person shower featuring separate controls, body sprays, and the hand-made English tile version of "A Coign of Vantage" by Lawrence Alma-Tadema make this the ultimate showering experience! Step around the corner to enjoy the large double whirlpool bath, Doc Kester's remedy to all your ailments! Located on the first floor.
Inspired by art nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha, Clara's Veranda blends the exquisite detail of nature with a dreamy sense of escape. Retreat into your garden-themed room of generous proportions...the king-size scrolled iron bed with full canopy...the private bath, complete with double whirlpool and marble-tiled shower. Surrounded by whimsical architectural antiques and hand-painted tiles, you'll savor the passage of time! Step through the French doors and onto Clara's Veranda...your private garden haven! Located on the first floor.
Our coziest room, Alsie's early American decor will take you to a simpler, quieter time...the quilted queen-sized iron bed sits calmly amid antiques: the crackled pitcher and bowl, faded immigrant's trunk, and Scandinavian memoirs are all reminders of what might have been Alsie Peterson's, the home's Danish domestic servant in the 1870's. Her room would have been a welcomed respite after her household duties, a comfortable space to call her own! With a double whirlpool and small full bath, make Alsie's Retreat your personal retreat! Located on the first floor.
