The Stewart Inn, designed by world renowned architect George Maher, is located in Wausau's vibrant downtown river district within walking distance of all the shops, restaurants and businesses. We are also jointly situated within the Andrew Warren Historic District where many of Wausau's oldest and most beautiful homes are found, including the Cyrus Yawkey Museum and Marathon County Historical Society. We are one of only two lodging properties within the downtown river district and the only luxury property within this district. As such we are just one block from city hall, two blocks from the YMCA, three blocks from many of the areas best restaurants & shops and just four blocks from the "400 block," Wausau's main downtown outdoor venue/bandshell. The Inn was the first property in Wausau to be put on the National Register for Historic Homes. It was designed and built in 1906 by George Maher one of the founders of the American Arts and Crafts movements. He is a world renowned architect and the home is considered the most intact example of his work in the country. Nearby activities include skiing, hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, ice fishing, curling & fat tire biking. You’ll love our Inn because of its location, but you'll come back for the food, hospitality, hi-tech amenities & spectacular architectural details. We accept couples, solo adventurers, business travelers & groups of up to twelve. We also host small weddings and special events.

The Inn is lovely, the owners are gracious and warm and the breakfasts are decadent! And very convenient for skiing at Granite Peak (about a 5 min drive). We loved our weekend there! The only thing that was less than perfect is the rooms could be better sound-proofed

While driving across country we were fortunate to spend a wonderful night and morning at the Stewart Inn. It is a beautiful historical building with a magnificent and interesting architectural background. The guest rooms are extremely well appointed and full of charm and comfort. The hosts were very welcoming and engaging, and prepared a delicious and creative breakfast. We would highly recommend this Inn to anyone planning a trip to Wausau ... or make a stay at the Inn as a great reason to go to Wausau.

My wife and I had our first B&B experience here and were thrilled. We were not quite sure what to expect, but this turned out great. The food was delicious, the host Randy was very friendly and accommodating, and the room was comfortable. A few things that really stood out to us were the pillow menu and the steam shower.

Very comfortable stay with understanding and accommodating hosts. The home is warm and refined - the architecture and window iron work was amazing. My wife and I were unable to make it up from Chicago the first night of our reservation due to uncontrollable circumstances. We drove up early the second morning and they had a truly delicious 3 course breakfast prepared to fuel our day on the ski hill. Our room was spacious, with a fireplace and steam shower - perfect for winding down. We didn't make the wine and cheese social that evening, but the hosts were knowledgeable about the surprisingly broad dining choices available in Wausau. The next morning after sipping coffee while reading a book in the library by the fire place and another amazing breakfast the host offered us a free night stay in the coming year as we had missed our first night. Unexpected, and welcomed as we look forward to another romantic get away! Great Experience!

Unbelievable. Outstanding in every way. We have stayed in several B&B's and this is the best by far. Friendly hosts, incredible food, gorgeous architecture, luxurious rooms. We cannot recommend it enough.
Thank you for your kind words. We are always striving to be better.
