Historical Landmark Experience

4.2 on October 05, 2017

Stayed two nights and absolutely loved it. So fun to have Christmas decorations up in October! Owners went out of their way to make my 8-year-old nephew's experience memorable. Will definitely stay here again!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for the nice review! He was so cute, how can you not spoil a child when you have the opportunity. We are kid friendly here and enjoy watching their amazement at the house and it's décor. It was so nice to have met you as well. Please come back and stay again when you are coming to town.

Christmas House weekend

5 on August 28, 2017

My girlfriend and I were looking for a relaxing weekend at a bed and breakfast. We ended up staying at Christmas House, and it did not disappoint! The hosts were fantastic. Breakfast was amazing. Homemade blueberry muffins that were to die for, fruit, and a fantastic omelet on Saturday morning. Then homemade french toast with bacon and eggs, and they even purchased some pastries from their favorite local bakery! The location was great; about a block away from the lake. The beach is about a half mile walk north with a great walking path the whole way. The downtown area is about a quarter mile north. We received recommendations for dinner options, and Olde Madrid was absolutely amazing - definitely check it out if you stay here!

Innkeeper Response

Thank you for the wonderful words of praise of our bed and breakfast. You must come back to visit us again.

Fantastic Time

5 on June 09, 2017

My daughter and I spent the night at the Racine Christmas House B & B. We enjoyed our time there. We enjoyed hearing all about the history of the Christmas House and it adds to the charm of staying there. It is a wonderfully eclectic, charming and fun place to stay. We enjoyed breakfast in the dining room and it was homemade and amazing! B&B is situated right next to the lake for walks and you must try the Mexican cafe down the street - 9 Juan Juan! It was exceptionally good food!!!

Innkeeper Response

Making Memories

3.4 on October 14, 2016

Our room was spacious and well appointed. No service was performed on the rooms each day. Meals were tasty, well prepared and presented, but the menu was standard fair and featured very little if any gourmet offerings.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your comments. We normally do not service our rooms each day unless the guest asks. This is to conserve. I am sorry we may have missed the opportunity to assist you better with regards to your room needs. Maybe next time you come to visit we can make breakfast a bit more special for you. Thank you again for your feedback. It helps us to grow as we go.

We spent a delightful 5 nights at this lovely Victorian home in the Tranquility Suite. Everything from the linens and towels to space in the room and bathroom, and the charming hosts were all fantastic, top-notch. The rooms have everything you would except in a modern hotel Keurig coffee maker (regular coffee available at breakfast as well), refrigerator, wifi, and bathroom amenities like soaps and lotions from a local provider (great products), and a hairdryer. The breakfasts were something to behold. They provided something for everyone: fresh fruit salad, homemade muffins (it is worth a trip just for the blueberry or cranberry/almond muffins), a special main dish each day such as shirred eggs, French toast, pancakes with the special syrup, quiches, and more. We often skipped lunch since we were so full from breakfast. The bed was extremely comfortable as were the recliners in the room. Downstairs had plenty of space to find a spot both inside and out. The wrap-around porch is excellent to relax on after a day of exploring the area. We were often joined by one or more of the hosts. You can tell they not only love this special house, they love Racine, providing many recommendations for sites to visit as well as restaurant. Everythng about this Bed and Breakfast was excellent. We look forward to returning next year.

About the innkeepers

As a child I visited the Christmas House and dreamed that one day I would live there. With a love and appreciation for the past, I am a preservationist and have restored many old homes with a hands-on approach. This historical landmark mansion is now my home that I want to share with people. I love to go on the hunt for a bargain and when it involves something old that is the highlight of my day.

We love our twist on this delicious old time recipe. We use inch thick fresh bread and toast it right in the pan. Then we top it with a bit of fresh cheddar cheese to make it extra special. Served with seasonal fruit this will start your morning off to a good start.
