Three guest suites feature distinctive decor that mixes nostalgic and contemporary details. Each suite has a sitting area, luxury bedding and spacious bathroom with jetted tub and spa-style shower. Free amenities include savory complete breakfast, high-speed WiFi, HDTV, Blu-ray player, in-room refrigerator, and passes for Madison's bike-sharing program. The building's recent yearlong renovation stayed true to its original Prairie School style of design, influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural principles. Furnishings underscore the building's simple but bold geometric patterns. One suite is elegantly designed to suit those with impaired mobility. Free off-street parking is provided.

The Owners are friendly, and the room appointments are top notch. The room is UM themed, which at first glance did not impress, but once you started to look at the level quality in the details, from the lighting, fireplace, bed to the bathroom, you notice the amount of thought put into the construction. No doubt, a place I would recommend.

My husband and I make the Buckingham a 'must do' when we travel to Madison. We always thoroughly enjoy our time there. Tom and Heidi are most gracious and excellent chefs! The building itself has such character, history and charm, and the ambiance and consistent attention to every detail makes us look forward to our next visit!

This place captures all the things that make Madison unique - Prairie-style decor, a farm-to-table breakfast, and a great location a half block from campus. The common/dining space is cozy, with several nooks for quiet reading or reflection. There is a miniature grand piano in the corner of the sitting room - very old with chipped keys and uncertain action, but still in tune. There are two rooms upstairs, and one room right off the entrance that is more-or-less handicap accessible (a few stairs up, and a few back down, into the room). Bed was great. Bathroom shower and tub were top-of-the-line. We stayed on the first floor and there is some noise from above in the bathroom, and from the entranceway as people come in, but it was not disruptive. Breakfast was great - local foods, including greens which were much appreciated for breakfast! Eating is at a common table for six. The couple who runs the place are friendly but not chatty. They offer water/juice/wine during the 4-6 check-in period. There are three (tight) parking spaces to the side of the house. The neighborhood is a combination of stately private homes and fraternity houses. Very lovely - would stay again. If you have the money to splurge for a night, this is a nice place to do it.

Our 3 night stay at The Buckingham Inn was an absolutely wonderful getaway! It was especially comforting to have a cozy retreat to relax in after a day of exploring Madison. We appreciated so many details that Heidi and Tom put into making their B & B a unique experience including the: - very helpful and warm personal welcome - helpful book of instructions in the room about how to operate devices (TV, blue ray player, exterior door keypad, jacuzzi tub, etc...) and other tips - printed list of your meal recommendations. - fresh flowers and the personal note they wrote for our anniversary - B-cycle passes plus the helpful hints on where to ride (along with a good map!) - Netflix, Pandora - delicious local chocolates - excellent wine/juice available each evening - tasty, healthy, well balanced breakfast (including nice variety of juice and tea choices!) - snacks and bottled water/soda available in the room - beautiful and interesting decorating accents throughout your home - comfortable, clean furnishings - interesting current local area reading material - very relaxing (pampering!) shower

We stayed here for our anniversary and it exceeded expectations. Nice location within walking distance of the hustle bustle. Great room, great breakfast, nice amenities. Innkeepers were excellent and the place was very clean. We would do it again.

Looked to get away from the kids for my wife's 30th Birthday. The stay was wonderful, quiet neighborhood in the city, very clean, very comfortable room. The Inn Keepers were very kind, and accommodating. We only ate there for breakfast, but it was wonderful. Plenty of complimentary features (snacks, drinks, amenities). We would recommend this B & B to anyone looking to stay in the city for shopping and site seeing without being too much in the hustle and bustle of it.

When we could not find a hotel in Madison recently to visit Madison for a weekend football game, we stumbled upon the Buckingham Inn -- and now, we'll never want to stay any place but the Buckingham Inn! Just a block from University of Wisconsin's Camp Randall Stadium, this newly opened bed and breakfast is not only perfectly located but incredibly charming and comfortable. The innskeepers, Tom and Heidi, have a wonderful story to share about how they came to own and create this B&B, and we were impressed by the thought and planning they put into the Buckingham Inn. They have thought of everything in creating their special bed and breakfast, which combines modern conveniences (a large, spectacular spa-like bathroom in each guest room) with period-perfect restoration which will make you feel like you walked into a home circa 1911. We enjoyed looking at the perfectly appointed common rooms and beautiful decorating details, as much as the delicious breakfasts. Tom and Heidi are terrific hosts, and we can only hope this place does not become so popular that we cannot squeeze in again for another visit soon.

You can tell much thought was given to every detail in the Buckingham Inn. From its location a block from Camp Randall, the personalized welcome letter, local chocolates & wine, nostalgic UW photos and yearbooks, and customized glasses and robes, everything was top notch. The cleanliness and attention to detail were beyond compare. Heidi and Tom were also very accommodating regarding food allergies for the delightful breakfast we enjoyed with 2 other guests. Highly recommended. We would stay here again without hesitation.

I couldn't be more pleased with our stay last week at the Buckingham Inn! The online reservation process was convenient. Tom and Heidi also ensured a smooth check in for us even though we needed to arrive at 9:00 p.m. on our first of two nights. The Inn has been updated with all of today's luxuries, but it still maintains historical flair. The woodwork is wonderful, the stained glass windows are lovely, and there are several antiques - just what we like! We stayed in the Varsity Suite, which was well appointed with a huge bathroom, king-sized bed, fireplace and even a sunny, cozy porch that was temperature controlled. Though there was a table with chairs in the room that could be used as a desk, I sat on the porch with my laptop checking work emails at one point during our stay. The complementary streaming Netflix was also a nice touch. And then there were the breakfasts! Tom and Heidi were such gracious hosts, and the food was fantastic. What a wonderful "find" for us since our daughter will soon be attending UW-Madison. Before we left we booked our room for the stay when we'll move her into her dorm in the fall, and this will be our preferred place to stay when in Madison!
