My husband and I just spent a great weekend in Bayfield, staying at the Artesian House Bed & Breakfast. Artesian House is far enough out of town so that you get the quiet, scents and sounds of being up north, and yet is conveniently located near town and multiple attractions, including the Big Top Chautauqua concert venue. The house itself is modern and beautifully furnished with deep, cozy leather chairs in the shared living spaces. Our room was lovely and quiet, with everything we needed including a corkscrew and wine glasses. Breakfasts were great, with a different main dish each day, fresh fruit and local baked goods. Our hosts, Christine and Dennis, were very helpful in directing us to fun activities that blended with our interests and great local restaurants for dinner. Their attention to detail and knowledge of the area made a quickly planned getaway weekend both relaxing and satisfying, and left us with a desire to head back for a future stay. Go now!

Upon arrival, I got to meet Christine, who treated me with extreme hospitality and generosity throughout the duration of my stay. Her knowledge of the Bayfield area was both extensive and impressive - the restaurant and general shop recommendations she gave me during my visit were absolutely perfect, and she had knowledge of upcoming events in town, and must-see places. The fruit spread in the morning was fantastic, and there were plenty of tea options for me to select from. Being a non-coffee drinker, this was a pleasant surprise. Christine's culinary prowess each morning was on display, and breakfasts were fantastic. Both Christine and Dennis are very friendly, and they even offered me the opportunity to change rooms when one of their other reservations fell through. The location itself is very tranquil, and Dennis is working continuously to make it even more aesthetically pleasing. The conversations I had with both of them were enjoyable and relaxing. I can't speak for the other B&Bs in the area, but my experience at Artesian House was positive enough for me to return to them when I visit Bayfield again in the future.

We could not have been more pleased with our stay at the Artesian House. Wonderful hosts, great rooms and delicious breakfasts. We were sad to leave, but excited to return. Gary and Sandy Slowiak

We had never been to the Bayfield area and found this bed and breakfast to be a great experience and Christine, the owner, helped us find the best places to go visit while there!

We stayed 4 nights in July at the Artesian B&B. Could not be more happy with the booking. The property was wooded, the home large and comfortable and relatively new. We were only 2 miles from the town but were able to escape it at the B&B. Breakfasts were outstanding and our hosts Christine and Dennis were delightful. Casual elegance at it's best!

My wife and I stayed 2 days this past July. We booked our stay on the road up to Bayfield, based mostly on favorable reviews and value. We could not have been happier. Dennis and Christine were welcoming, full of helpful suggestions about sightseeing, shopping and dining, and very nice people. We would definitely stay there again!

We stayed at the Artesian House in June of 2014. Christine and Dennis were excellent hosts and kept us well informed of the area and well fed with delicious meals! The room was very clean and our stay was quiet which was just what we needed. If you are planning a trip to Bayfield, this place is well worth a visit!!

Our stay was booked at the last minute (the night prior) with a late arrival the following day. Our hosts, Christine and Dennis, were very flexible and accommodating as a result, which was so helpful in making our trip/stay even possible (cannot thank them enough for that). Breakfast was delicious and included plenty of local, fresh foods. Our room (The Aspen) was extremely clean, comfy, large and provided a view as well as separate exit/entrance in this very modern bed and breakfast. Free Wi-Fi was easily accessible and worked great our entire stay. Another bonus was that they accept BedandBreakfast.com gift certifcates.

Christine and Dennis are excellent hosts--they are very friendly, accommodating, and the breakfast Christine makes in the mornings is delicious. The house is beautiful. It is well kept, with modern amenities and free wifi. The beds are unbelievably comfortable. It is located in a quiet wooded area in between Washburn and Bayfield, so it feels a lot more private than other establishments in town. I definitely recommend staying here. I will be next time I go up to Bayfield!

Christine and Mark were very warm, friendly and welcoming. The room was great, the breakfasts delicious! They were also very helpful in providing local information so we were able to plan our outings with great knowledge of what to expect where. I will certainly be planning future stays at the Artesian House.

The setting is beautiful and close to the Lake and other amenities. Our host and hostess were very pleasant, room was beautiful with large windows that looked out into the woods and a separate door to enter directly into our room. Breakfast was delicious!

We enjoyed our weekend at Artesian House B&B. It was our first visit to this location, and first time in Bayfield. Good breakfasts (gracefully accommodated our special dietary needs), bright clean rooms with new beds and linens. We enjoyed the deck for pre-bedtime star gazing and all the helpful tips on things to see and do in the area. Thank you! We hope to be a return guest!

The food was great tasting but would have liked to have more of it. Christine was so very personable and extremely helpful. She told us where to go to get tickets for a cruise of the islands and the great places to eat in town. We had such a wonderful time, I would recommend this place to everyone.

Every time I book a B&B there's a touch of apprehension as to whether I've made a good choice - but that's half the adventure, right? I think you'll find pleasure if you book this place. Warm hosts, clean contemporary rooms, excellent breakfast. A nice location: close to nature, secluded, yet within 2 or 3 minutes of everything the Bayfield area has to offer. Enjoy the patio!
5 on August 20, 2014
The water tasted awesome and it was so peaceful and quiet. Very friendly hosts.
5 on August 18, 2014
We had a wonderful time at the Artesian House. It was close to the Big Top for a concert we were attending and also close to everything in Bayfield. The breakfast's were excellent and Christine did everything she could to accomodate the diverse needs of guests that were there with us. Highly Recommended!

Artesian House is located a just a few miles outside of Bayfield. We found the location peaceful and quiet. The value was excellent. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The rooms are located just off the main gathering space, so you feel a bit close to the other guests.

What a lovely spot, nestled in the woods with 4 beautifully-appointed rooms, Just outside of Bayfield, WI. Newly redecorated or completely redone, this home is perfect. Our breakfast each day was tasty, including local Bayfield bakery items.
5 on July 30, 2014
We thoroughly enjoyed our few nights at the Artesian House (weekend of July 12th). Upon our arrival, we felt as If we were welcomed, long last relatives. The house is nestled in 25 acres of woods with a one minute drive to the main road and a 3 minute drive into Bayfield. The house is newly remodeled; our room was modernized, of ample size, neatly appointed and impeccably clean. (We forgot a number of things at home and when we asked them to direct us to a store, Christine and Dennis offered to lend us what we forgot). Others have said it well – Christine and Dennis were very friendly yet not intrusive. We enjoyed the time we did spend with them in the main room. Breakfast could only be described as perfect. Can’t wait to revisit!

My husband and I went here for our anniversary weekend to go to Madeline Island. The hosts are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area and gave us ideas about where to go and what to do. The rooms were cozy and comfy. I loved that there were no TV's in the whole place so we had to be sociable :) Breakfast was delicious as well! I am gluten free and Christine made breakfast that accommodated that. I would definitely go back and recommend staying there to anyone that wants great B&B that isn't too expensive.

Couple 50's ... Explored Bayfield and enjoyed our evenings at Artesian House. In the morning, the fresh strawberries, blackberries and Mango topped with greek yogurt were delicious. The new owners were extremely nice and accommodating (we're not usually B&Ber's, so their friendly presence was very enjoyable, but not intrusive). And I especially enjoyed Dennis' sense of humor. You can't go wrong here -- great value. Great wifi and great Verizon cell coverage. 5 minutes to town. Clean and very nice. Do it!
4.6 on July 21, 2014
The rooms were comfortable and clean. The cotton robes hanging in the bath were a nice touch. The B&B is just outside of town on several wooded acres and wrap around porch for views of the woods. The hosts were friendly and the breakfasts were ample and tasty. We would stay here again;.

Had a great time in Bayfield, Wisconsin thanks to the people at the Artesian Bed and Breakfast. The owners were inviting and affable. When we visit the Bayfield area again, there's no question that we will stay at this bed and breakfast!

Beautiful house, nicely decorated. In the middle of the woods, a three minute drive from downtown Bayfield. Hosts are nice and helpful, and are clearly working hard to make this a prettier place by the day. My main issue was with the size of the room, which was a bit crowded for my taste, with no space to put down a suitcase without it being in the way, and no space for hanging clothes. For what I paid, I would've expected a more comfortable room.
4.8 on July 09, 2014
Christine and Dennis were super helpful with dining options, directions and the food was great!

Would recommend highly. Was welcomed warmly by Christine and Dennis, they had some great recommendations for things to do in the area. The rooms were comfortable, quiet, and the property is well-cared for. Would love to stay again.

We highly recommend the Artesian House Bed & Breakfast. The owners are very warm, welcoming, and interesting. They did everything they could think of to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. Breakfast was nothing short of outstanding. The locale is just beautiful. My only recommendation to the owners is that they consider providing a few more shelves for storing small items (toiletries, etc.). We will definitely return to this B&B the next time we visit Bayfield.
5 on July 06, 2014
The Artesian House is absolutely gorgeous! Breakfast was amazing, the house was clean, the view was great, and we just loved every single thing about The Artesian House. Christine & Dennis were so helpful at directing us on where to eat, things to do and how to get places. Will definitely stay again.

We had a delightful time at Artesian House Bed & Breakfast. Christine is a warm, generous host. She is an excellent cook. The breakfasts were 5-star. We loved being in the woods with the lake nearby. The birds and other wildlife were abundant as seen from the spacious deck. We intend to go back to do more walking on the property and to enjoy the wooded setting. It was a wonderful experience.

Christine and Dennis have done a great job in their take-over of Artesian House. The rooms are large, very clean, and have easy access directly to the outside, which makes getting in and out early or late very easy. Breakfast was delicious. The location is very convenient for going to shows at The Big Top--Ski Hill Rd is right around the corner.

My wife is the B&B fan. I am not. But, Christine and the Artesian House have made me more acceptable to the idea. She was friendly, conversant, and accommodating. This is a wonderful place to base your explorations of the beautiful Bayfield/Apostle Islands area from during any time the year. The rooms were tastefully done with no garish colors to distract from the outside beauty. A private entrance to our room made it even more pleasurable for those times when you just want to come and go quickly. The common space is gorgeous and inviting. We highly recommend the Artesian House as a great place to stay.

Amazing Breakfast, Clean, comfortable, spacious, room. Perfect, If you are staying in the Bayfield area, I don't know why you would stay anywhere else. Ecofriendlly! Gorgeous wrap around porch, with big comfy chairs. So nice to go have a cup of coffee, or a glass of wine outside. Like I said, Perfect, we will be back!

My fiance and I stayed two nights in the whirlpool suite at Artesian House Aug 2013. Christine was more than welcoming! The B&B was great all around... The room was clean. The property was quiet and secluded from town. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and full of local ingredients! What more can you ask for? Oh yeah, Christine helped us fix a flat tire the morning of our departure! Above and beyond what you would expect staying at a B&B. We will be back!
5 on August 04, 2013
This place has a great reputation and the new owners have improved and updated the property including all new bedding. They are a wealth of information on what to do and see in the area.....simply the best value in Bayfield. The price per night is undermost of the competition. This is the only place that was built as a B&B and not a converted house. You will enjoy it!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Artesian House. It was a bit outside of the town of Bayfield (maybe 1-2 miles), but we liked the seclusion. We had a private entrance to our room, and our room was very comfortable. We stayed in the Green room, which has a jacuzzi, and we were very happy with our choice - it was perfect for a little romantic getaway. The room was charming, but simple - so if you're looking for a luxurious, fancy stay, this might not be your place. There is also only a stall shower in the Green Room (possible because we had the jacuzzi), so be prepared. The best part of the stay, however, was the host. Al was very friendly, he made sure to give us a tour of the room and shared space so we knew how to use everything, and he made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was delicious, and he kept us entertained with stories from the area and provided recommendations for activities in the area, places to eat, etc. I highly recommend the Artesian House to someone looking for a low-key, cozy and welcoming experience.
5 on September 26, 2012
Al was great. It was our first time at a B & B and we loved it. I can't wait to do another trip. The food was great and the home was beautiful. Couldn't have asked for a better stay!

We loved our too short stay at The Artesian House. It is a 5 minute drive outside Bayfield, set in the woods. It is very quiet. No traffic noise or loud guests. The rooms were spotless. I appreciated their beautiful simplicity compared to many overdone Victorian B&Bs. The breakfast was nourishing and delicious. Al and Chana were very welcoming.

We have visited the Artesian House many times throughout the years. We walk through the doors, see Al's smiling face and the stresses of everyday life just melt away. We look forward to returning again and again.

My husband and I had a very relaxing and pleasant experience at the Artesian House. Our room (the Green room) was beautiful and very serene. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast each morning and had great conversation. Al was very kind and offered lots of great advice on the local restaurants and things to do and see nearby. The Jacuzzi in our room came in very handy after a long day of hiking and biking around the beautiful Apostle Islands.

We return to The Artesian House again and again because it is so beautiful and comfortable. It's located in a fantastic and convenient setting. The room, breakfast, and host are all top notch.
5 on August 03, 2011
We spent two nights at Artesian House and can't say enough about how positive of an experience it was. Al runs a wonderful B&B. He's a fantastic host who clearly enjoys having guests at his house. He's a great cook too--we had two fantastic breakfasts. The house and rooms were wonderful--spacious, clean, and quiet. The only downside is that the house isn't within walking distance of downtown Bayfield, although it is only a few minutes in the car to get there. It is located very close to Big Top Chautauqua though, so if you are heading there or to Mt. Ashwaybay, it is very convenient.

We enjoyed our stay in the Bayfield and Madeline Island area. The Artesian House has a beautiful setting, the house is very nice and Al welcomed us into his home like family. He made some great suggestions on places to dine and sites to see. We also enjoyed our visits with the other 3 couples staying at the B&B for the weekend.
5 on June 29, 2011
The Artesian House was amazing and much more than we expected. We went there to get away after our wedding, and it was the best decision we made. Even though it rained everyday that we were there, the innkeeper, Al, always had a suggestion on where to go, where to eat, and great facts about the surrounding cities. Al made a delicious and filling breakfast every morning that we were there, as well as great conversation. The house is so cute and off the beaten path, so you always feel relaxed and have your privacy. We were there during The Artesian House's 15 year anniversary, and we can't wait to see them celebrate their 30th. Thanks for an amazing time!

This was our 4th stay at the Artesian House since 1997 and host Al Chechik continues to maintain the high standards we originally encountered there. The rooms are well-maintained and comfortable, the breakfasts are tasty, and the atmosphere is as comfortable as being in your own home. Al and his new wife Chana are very pleasant and informative hosts, helping you to decide where to go and what to do if you want ideas. We hope to be back to visit again!

Al, the host, was very gracious and wonderful to us while we vacationed in Bayfield. Wisconsin. He made polite suggestions for dining and things to see, but left the choice to us. The rooms were very clean and private and we loved staying there. Al served us healthy and delicious breakfasts everyday. I have food and product allergies and he was very considerate of my needs. The pictures say it all, this is a glorious place to stay located on acres of wooded property. The area venues were very close to his home, but we did not have to be in the crowds constantly. I highly recommend the Artesian House. My husband and I are planning to return for our anniversary. Thanks so much!!!

We spent a night at the lovely Artesian House, nestled in a lovely wooded area. The home is beautiful and inviting, peaceful and serene. We loved all of the eco-friendly touches; solar heated water, rain collecting garden, etc. The rooms each have deck entrances, which is a nice touch. The location is beautiful, and the great room is a welcoming place filled with books, a chess board, and great conversations. The breakfast was outstanding, and Al makes sure you feel at home. Thanks for a wonderful getaway!

A unique inn that was designed to be a B&B when constructed. The great room (totally available to guests in the four private rooms) features unique artwork, an assortment of music and reading material, and real comfortability. The innkeeper (Al) is very sociable, has a wealth of local knowledge, and creates a terrific breakfast each morning. We will return to this B&B!

Me and my wife went here for our honeymoon and had a good time. It was our first B&B stay so i don't have much to compare to. The location is wonderful close to all the attractions but the house its self is with drawn in beautiful woods and meadow compared to most others which are right in Bayfield. Al the host is a very nice man and very knowledgeable about the history and attractions of the area. Our stay was very quiet and pleasant and I would definitely recommend.

We wanted a B&B without the frilly Victorian decor. We found everything we were looking for at Al Chechik's Artesian House just south of Bayfield. Privacy, comfort, welcome, and a great breakfast. We loved the in-room Jacuzzi, the great view from our window and deck, a huge great room, and acres to wander.

The Artesian house is beautifully designed and the rooms are beautiful and very clean. The innkeeper uses local products including pottery and soap, all very lovely. He exceeds the requirements for a "green" vacation site. There was lively talk in the evenings, but silence and individual conversations were also possible with no discomfort. A wonderful getaway!
Thanks very much for your positive comments on your stay at The Artesian House. They're very much appreciated.
