  • Cancellations: As a small inn located in a small river town we have tried to offer our guests an easy reservation process without all of the stipulations about cancellations. However it's proven necessary to implement a cancellation policy within 72 hours of your stay. We are experiencing cancellations that do not afford us the opportunity to put the room back onto the market with adequate time to find another guest We've tried waiting lists but folks need a room and they don't want to wait for a cancellation. Please note that if you reserve a room at the Blue Door Inn we require credit card information and if a room is cancelled within 72 hours your credit card will be charged if we are not available to find another guest. Thank you for your understanding.

About the innkeepers

Retiring in my mid-50s I wanted to restore an historic property that could become an Inn. The perfect building was found in Alma, Wisconsin on the Mississippi River. You'll fall in love with our historic river town just like I did. How can you go wrong with the Mississippi River, bald eagles and the bluffs and valleys of the Driftless Region of Wisconsin?

Signature Dish

"Baby Blue" Buckwheat Mini Pancakes
An "old fashioned" favorite served every Saturday. We use locally ground buckwheat flour and local blueberries to make stacks of this mini pancakes. Combine them with fresh Wisconsin butter and local Wisconsin maple syrup and they're a real treat. We've been known to make 5 batches on a Saturday morning and we only have 6 rooms!
