The stately 1909 Federal Crest Inn Bed & Breakfast, flanked by century old magnolia trees, stands majestically at the crest of the Federal Hill Historic District. Southern hospitality and elegance radiates as guests enter the beautiful foyer with grand central staircase, leaded glass window and interior columns. The personal touch by the hosts, Ann and Phil Ripley, makes every visitor feel special. After early morning juice and coffee, beautifully presented full, hot breakfasts are enjoyed in the mahogany-paneled dining room by the romantic fireplace. Most of the elegantly appointed guest rooms also feature gas-log fireplaces as well as private baths. One of the most unique features of the inn is the third floor theater with a full stage which was built for the original owner's children to write a give plays. This area is a perfect for group and business meetings as it is almost 1300 square feet and has a 60" TV/VCR.

I spent a weekend at the Federal Crest B&B this past March and it was like a home away from home. The Ripley's were wonderful hosts, they provided terrific meals and treated me like family. I couldn't have asked for more gracious hosts or a more beautiful home to spend the weekend in. The photos of their home do not do it justice, it is truly magnificent. Truly a once in a lifetime experience, I hope my travels take me to lynchburg again so that I can stay at the Federal Crest once more.

My husband and I spent four nights at the Federal Crest Inn. Ann and Phil greeted us at the door on our arrival and made us feel welcome from the very beginning. We stayed in the Willow Room which was a delightful room with a warming fireplace and a private bath. The house is a beautiful and well maintained home. We had a busy weekend and were so thankful to have a comfortable room to return to each night. We had great conversations with both Ann and Phil. They were very helpful in suggesting sites we could see in the time we had between family events. If you are looking for a B&B in the Lynchburg, VA area, you can't go wrong in choosing The Federal Crest Inn.

We stayed one night at this beautiful B&B, wish we could have stayed longer. The hosts, Ann and Phil were very welcoming and the conversation was wonderful. We enjoyed looking at Ann's paintings and guessing their themes. The historic downtown area was very close and we found a wonderful restaurant for dinner. This B&B also has its own butler who greets you at the front door, he is very "sweet". We highly recommend you staying here.

Stayed for two nights over the Labor Day weekend and found the place to be extremely charming. Ann and Phil were excellent hosts. Always had answers for our tourist questions and gave us great options on dinner places and sites to see in Greater Lynchburg. If you plan to visit Lynchburg, look no further than the Federal Crest Inn for your lodging needs.

We stayed at the Federal Crest Inn and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Ann and Phil ripley are warm and welcoming into their absolutely lovely home. The first level of this stately home has an immediate "wow" factor when you see the central grand staircase with the large landing. Lovely dark wood finishes with glowing fireplaces throughout the entire home. It was a damp, chilly weekend and I sincerely appreciated the warmth of the fires upon entering! We stayed in the Dogwood room and found it romantic and enchanting. Sheets, bedding , and mattress were extremely comfortable as well. Breakfast was delicious and presented so thoughtfully. Thank you Ann and Phil for making your home our home! Courtney and Glenn

5 stars for phil and ann for the tremendous accommodations to each guests needs. If you want to relax, take in the culture and history of lynchburg, or need to get some work done while on a business trip Federal Crest Inn has it all and more. I would make the drive from Minnesota anytime if Federal Crest is the destination. Southern hospitality is alive and flourishing in this place.
