This was a gorgeous, quiet, clean, and quaint place to stay on the Eastern Shore. We thoroughly enjoyed our time overlooking the water, eating a delicious breakfast, touring the 'locals-only' spots that Mike told us about, and generally relaxing for the weekend. I would go back in a heartbeat-- he will see us again!

This was our second stay at Baywood. We arrived early enough for a relaxing walk on the beach. Breakfast was excellent, freshly prepared and plentiful. Our room was comfortable and had the amenities you would find in a hotel room, some B&Bs do not provide hair dryers, terry robes etc. but this one does. Great place!

The Bed and Breakfast was a little further out of town than we expected. However, the location was beautiful with a full view of the Bay from our room with a porch. The service was excellent. Mike was the best "guide" we could have asked for. He knows the area/history, very friendly and was kind to let us borrow a book on the area that walked us through (literally) many of the towns with the colorful history of each. Will definitely stay there again!

We recently stayed at the Baywood and loved it. The rooms were large, clean and very comfortable. The two front rooms have a wonderful view across the Chesapeake Bay. There are no TV's in the rooms but a common area with TV is available. The private and secluded beach is great for swimming in the summer and for long walks anytime. Mike is a great host and serves a large and delicious breakfast at 8:30 AM.

Baywood was exactly what we were looking for! Beautiful, quiet, sparkling and spacious with a gracious host and a knockout breakfast - it really couldn't have been any nicer. We had the Lighthouse Room, which included a large en suite with a walk-in tub, a huge shower and large, fluffy towels. The whole wall facing the water and beach were beautiful white French doors that opened onto a very large porch/balcony with a table and chairs. The sunset from here was stunning! Our host, Mike, is a history buff which played into our interests perfectly. On top of piquing my interest enough to look some corresponding topics up when home, he has a particular soft spot for General Lee. Mike also steered us in the right direction for dinner (The Oyster Farm, but that's another review!). Before leaving, Mike served us and the other two couples who were in-house (and we never heard a peep from) a fabulous breakfast that would be the fuel to the next leg of our journey up the coast. I will be writing him personally for a couple of recipes! I'm not much of an egg fan but he made a casserole that was so light and fluffy with vegetables, that I ate the whole piece and it was substantial. There was fresh fruit, tea or coffee (which is also place outside of the rooms from 6am), juice, sausage (which I AM a fan of!) and a wonderful muffin that had a name, but I don't recall. A Bay muffin, maybe? Just a spectacular send-off! We didn't have a chance to meet Sharon, but if she's as charming and knowledgeable as her husband, it was our loss!

Perfect time in a beautiful, spacious and spotless facility. Mike directed us to a couple of sights in the area that we were not familiar with. Awesome breakfasts, hospitality and view of the Chesapeake Bay.

My wife & I have stayed at Baywood several times. All aspects of our stays have been exemplary! We will continue to, again, return to Baywood when we get the chance!

My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary by staying at The Baywood B&B. When we got off the main road and drove through the long wooded driveway, it was like we entered a new world. The room, living areas, backyard and beach were lovely. Mike truly made us feel at home. He was friendly, informative and great to talk with. We will definitely return and we highly recommend The Baywood.

Mike, the owner of the Baywood, is quite possibly the most wonderful business owner on the Eastern Shore. He has built a home that is comfortable and feels like a home away from home, sitting atop the amazing Chesapeake Bay, yet nestled in a world of trees, right up against the Eastern Shore Nature Preserve. From the two sweet-natured cats on property, to the amazing Baywood Bran Muffins with breakfast; from the rocking chairs on the porch, to the adirondacks along the cliffside; from the sound of the wind on the hillside backyard to the waves crashing on the shore; from the walk down the wooden steps to the secluded beach to the conversations with fellow B&B guests --- the Baywood is one of our favorite things about Cape Charles, and we will not stay anywhere else. My only fear in giving this grand review is that the next time we book our weekend getaway, you'll already have made your reservation and we'll be outta luck. Say hi to Mike and to Shiloh, their sweetheart rescue dog, and enjoy this secret hideaway gem of the Eastern Shore. You will not be disappointed.

What a great get away in October! No crowds, crisp weather and wonderful accommodations! As others have said, Mike is the consummate host! Spent three nights and could have done more! We'll be back!

Inviting, cozy, genuinely interested hosts. Clean and beyond. Very reasonable rate (one night available). Right on the bay with easy access to beach and spectacular view and sunsets. I am going to give a stay to my daughter and son-in-law

We arrived just as Hurricane Matthew was ramping up toward the East Coast, but the lovely Baywood B&B was very calm among the trees. Michael was a very gracious host, and our room with a view of the bay was wonderful. The owners have totally renovated the house to serve as a bed and breakfast, and it's beautiful. I especially appreciated the color coordinated nautical decor, from the bedding, bathroom accessories and art on the wall. The breakfast, especially Michael's special muffins, was very nice, in a warm dining room with a spectacular view of the bay from the French doors. We went into town in the evening for dinner at the Gingernut Pub as Michael recommended; it's a great little neighborhood gathering spot located in an old bank building - we had our dinner in the old vault! In the morning, we spent some time before checkout exploring the beach, and then headed south to continue our trip across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel. Michael was very welcoming and friendly, as are the cats and the sweet little French bulldog; although if you're pet sensitive, the animals will be kept in another room. Overall, our stay was relaxing and far too short!

My wife and I wanted a long getaway weekend for our anniversary. We reserved a three night stay at the Baywood, not knowing exactly what to expect. Pictures posted online were promising. However, they really do not do justice to the picturesque, bucolic inn that is The Baywood. You turn in right off of Rt 13 and drive through a beautiful, winding, tree-covered drive ending in a circular parking lot with a fountain center, viewing the rear of the inn. Inside, the inn is tastefully decorated and lovely. Walk through to the front porch with a stunning view over-looking the Chesapeake Bay. Upstairs are four private rooms, two that share a bay-view balcony. Our room was very clean and smartly decorated. The bathroom had a soaking tub and separate shower. Mike, the proprietor, is very welcoming and loves to chat. He keeps the mood relaxed and informal, exactly as we like it. Breakfast is delicious and filling. The Baywood muffins, made fresh each day, are yummy! Other guests also seemed to get the spirit of the inn and breakfast conversation was relaxed and intriguing. Mike also has a wealth of knowledge about the Virginia Eastern Shore. He shared many 'hidden' places to visit. He also loaned us a book titled "Off 13" which I highly recommend. It provides a comprehensive list of places to visit and much of the peninsula's history. We followed his instructions and were not disappointed. After tooling around the ESVA, the Baywood is a scenic and tranquil place to return to and relax before heading out to dinner. Mike is very accommodating to specific needs and flexible with travel arrangements. His goal truly is to ensure his guests are very well cared for. The Baywood is beautiful without being pretentious. We had a fantastic weekend at The Baywood. We give this B&B our highest recommendation. We will definitely return.

My first experience with a B & B was with Mike & Sharon, Aug. 15-22 2016. Just an excellent, unforgettable experience! The first B & B across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge--no need to go any further! It has it all!!! Natural wooded setting, bay water- front/cliff view, private balcony (or without)spacious bedroom/sitting area, large bath area, walk-in closet. Access to kitchen, dining room, living room, enclosed screen porch or rocker-front porch. Hospitality-they are the best! Coffee outside your room every morning, Mike's special breakfast with muffins, sausage, eggs like you've never seen--and wait to you see how the fruit is served! Meeting and making friends from California, Indiana, Germany, and yes Virginia was unforgettable. Did I say Mike and Sharon are just down to earth conversational and pleasant people who just make you want to stay! He's such a history buff--let him be your travel agent guide to many lovely places. Read "off 13" or "The Barrier Island" on his coffee table for great experiences--then come back to relax, relax, relax and watch the beautiful sunsets, moon rises, and dolphins and fishermen in the bay. Can you say you have swam with "friendly" crabs, floating birds and no stinging nettles? Don't forget those two lovely cats who just want your love! Leave home your hair dryer, robe, soap, shampoo, fan, magazines, etc. They have it all! DON'T MISS THIS ONE!!!!! We and you will be back soon. Thanks so much Mike and Sharon. Linda from Mechanicsville, Va.

Great stay and beautiful rooms and views!
5 on August 20, 2016
My daughter, husband and I recently stayed at the Baywood on our way to the Outer Banks. Our experience could not have been better. You drive up the long driveway to be greeted by the most beautiful home. From the front door you can see back to the bay. Mike, the owner, is amazing and does everything in his power to make you feel at home. The rooms are beautiful and the grounds even more gorgeous still. We sat outside to watch the sunset over the bay with some wine while our daughter collected seashells. It was picture perfect. Breakfast the next morning was amazing. Not only was the food delicious, but the conversation was great too. Everyone chatted about where they were from, what their plans were, etc. It was great. In the past, we've stayed at another Cape Charles hotel on our way to NC, but didn't this year due to unavailability. I must say, I'm grateful because we truly feel we have found a gem in Baywood and it will now become our annual tradition. Thank you Mike for a great stay!!!
5 on August 18, 2016
We stayed just the one night, but wished it would have been more! Already booked for next year. The Baywood was great. Mike was an amazing host and made us feel at home. The beach front was relaxing and quiet. We had to leave earlier than normal breakfast time, so Mike was gracious enough to have muffins and some coffee ready for us to hit the road. I'm not one to write reviews, but I just had to. Cannot wait to go back again!

This was our 2nd stay here....because it was so good the first time. We actually scheduled our trip around a stay here.....as an overnight stop...We do hope to get back and spend a few days as the area does offer a great deal and the value is just so good. The host is friendly and accommodating without being overbearing....the property is loaded with butterflies, bats, hawks and other photo subjects...we did see dolphins in the Bay while enjoying breakfast...if you are traveling from the Northeast to the Outer Banks this is an ideal stopover.. The only complaint I have is that I like it cool at night and the room did get a little stuffy...could use a little more AC

First stay at a B and B. Our host Mike was great in all aspects: well organized, courteous, accommodating, personable, great chef. The view at the Baywood is unbelievably awesome and the beach is very relaxing. The sunset view can't be beat. My wife and I highly recommend this place!!

Wife and I arrived at the Baywood greeted by Mike, one of the owners. Shook our hands, welcomed us and showed us our room. Took us on a tour of the facilities and area. Very well kept, bright and clean house, beautiful yard and view of the Chesapeake Bay from the back yard. We really enjoyed our stay. Hot breakfast was served every morning, the other guests were pleasant, overall a great experience. Mike suggested some places to see while we were there and was very helpful. His wife Sharon was very nice to us also, always said hello. 5 stars!

The "Inkeepers" are as nice as can be, the place is just wonderful...the very comfortable rooms offer a great view of the Chesapeake Bay...See dolphins jumping around in plain view, while eating the delicious breakfast.....the grounds offer views of millions of beautiful butterflies, hummingbirds, red tailed hawks, bats...and the dolphins...if you walk along its beautiful beach you may see Sea Turtles ...Stay here and you will get way more than your money's worth....if you are a photo buff you will overload on the photo opportunities

Mike, the owner of this wonderful B&B, could not be more fantastic. Kind, considerate, accommodating and an excellent cook! We had a great stay and the property is even more perfect than I imagined. From the screened in porch with a ceiling fan where we enjoyed peaches picked from the on-site tree, to the two friendly cats who greeted us on the porch and front entrance, to the exquisite view and perfectly convenient access to the beach, to the gorgeously green backyard grounds. It's all perfect and we will return again and again and again!

This was exactly the get away we needed. The room was outstanding, the view out of our room and the balcony was incredible. I can't say enough about Mike's breakfasts, fabulous would be a start. Mike and Sharon are the perfect hosts, friendly, polite and very hospitable. Luigi and Oscar were also the perfect greeters, adorable and always vocal. Would highly recommend this bed and breakfast for anyone looking to meet some of the nicest people out there and to stay in an incredible bed and breakfast. Cory and Melodi

If i could give 6 stars i would. This B&B is wonderful from the beginning. Upon arrival you are greeted by the owner's two cats, Luigi and Oscar who wait patiently for new guests. Mike the owner and his lovely wife Sharon make you feel very welcome and relaxed in their place. Mike's full breakfast every morning keeps you going for the rest of the day. (specially his eggs au lait!!!). After a full days sight seeing, beach excursions and local restaurants recommended by Mike you return to the B&B to a spacious comfortable room with a balcony for a few drinks to watch an amazing sunset. We highly recommend this secluded place as a stop over or destination to anyone. Au revoir, a bientot Mike and Sharon. Marie, Jamie and Antoine from Atlanta GA

This was our first stay at the Baywood. We had high expectations after reading great reviews, and we were not disappointed. Our host welcomed us into a clean, bright, spacious living area and showed us to a comfortable room. The huge front porch offered a gorgeous view of the bay and was the perfect place to relax after a sunset walk along the private beach. Breakfast was hearty enough that we only needed to grab a snack for lunch. Chilled water and fresh towels were available on demand. Don't miss this great getaway ...

We were so happy with our stay at The Baywood Bed and Breakfast. The price was great!!! Our room was big and spacious. It was clean with a lovely bath and a walk in closet. The outside area was beautiful!! Direct access to a private beach...which we were the only people on the beach!! It is the place to watch the sunset!!!! We got some dinner and returned to our room and sat on our deck to watch the sunset. I wish we could have stayed longer!!! Its very close to the state park which is very nice. The owner was very nice and welcoming. The breakfast was wonderful!! We enjoyed it very much!!!!! would definitely love to stay again.

The owner Mike is awesome. He makes you feel at home. Private beach for the kids to play on, very quiet, close to everything. He took us on a small tour showing us the WW2 bunker and gun, met some real crab fisherman, and saw the medic house they moved off the island. This was a great time, and would love to come back.

Everything about this stay was perfect. The room was wonderful, clean and cozy. We stayed in the Lighthouse Room overlooking the Bay - gorgeous sunset! The room had everything we needed including a standing fan and sleep mate white noise maker (which I loved!) The breakfast was absolutely delicious the next morning. We were greeted immediately in the drive way by Mike and he was friendly and very informative about the area. The only downside was that we didn't stay longer! Can't wait to go back!

The secluded B&B was the perfect escape when trying to relax on a vacation. We loved how quiet it was and there wasn't a ton of people around like across the bay at VA Beach. Better than I could have ever hoped for and absolutely loved our stay. Mike was an amazing host and made wonderful breakfasts for everyone and always had historical information about the peninsula. He even went kayaking with us and I can't exclaim how much we loved our stay. I wished we could have stayed longer and we were already there a week! I cannot wait to be able to go back.

My mom and I stayed here on our travels around the Chesapeake Bay area, our favorite accommodation of the entire trip! Mike and Sharon, you have an incredible spot there on the bay! Wonderful hospitality and such a beautiful place. The breakfast was wonderful, the room was so nice and very comfortable. The views out to the bay from the upper deck and covered porch were amazing! They also have a private beach to enjoy. I was lucky enough to capture a few photos of an eagle out near the water. My mom and I also enjoyed Mike's knowledge of history and we even enjoyed hanging outside with the resident cats, Luigi and Oscar as well !! I definitely plan on returning and I will bring my husband next time! What an amazing stay on the bay!!

My wife and I stayed there for 3 nights during a rather cool and rainy late April. We stayed in the Lighthouse room. Our stay was very comfortable, and suited us just fine. Not having a TV in our room was nice for tuning out. The WIFI internet worked with no problems for checking e-mails though. Mike (the owner) was gracious, pleasant and very helpful. The breakfast was more than adequate. The communal breakfast setting was great to connect wit other guests. The relatively close town of Cape Charles was convenient for local eating (and drinking). We will definitely stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at The Baywood B&B! A magnificent view, a comfortable bedroom and a lovely breakfast! Thank you!
5 on May 06, 2016
We spent a lovely quiet weekend at the Baywood. The entrance to the B&B with it's winding road and tall crooked tree canopy reminded us of sleepy hollow and the headless horseman. The house itself is warm and inviting with a lovely front porch looking out over the bay. Our room was very large with wing chairs, soaking tub/separate shower and the balcony the length of our room overlooked the bay. Mike made a wonderful breakfast both days that included a breakfast casserole, fruit in shells, muffin, sausage, OJ and coffee/tea. It was beyond a lovely experience. The beach was quiet and dolphins played in the mornings. I can't think of a more relaxing and pleasant place to spend a long weekend or week. We will definitely be back and highly recommend to all.

We loved our one night stay at the Baywood Bed and Breakfast. Michael, the owner was there to greet us, gave us a tour and filled us in on the amenities. Though it was a rainy, foggy spring night we enjoyed relaxing in the common living room and in our room, the Lighthouse room. The huge bathtub and lavender bath salts that were provided was also a wonderful place to relax that night. We awoke to the sun illuminating a view over the Chesapeake Bay from the floor to ceiling windows of our room and coffee service outside our room that Michael had promised would be ready when we woke up. Michael treated us to a wonderful breakfast of quiche, muffins and fruit as well as great conversation about some mutual interests. We look forward to coming back!

We stopped at The Baywood B & B in Cape Charles, VA on our way to the Outer Banks of NC from outside Boston. We were greeted warmly by Mike and his two lovely (outdoor) cats, just in time to watch one of the most spectacular sunsets we have ever seen over the water! Mike said this is the way it looks almost every night - wow! We slept comfortably in our nice upstairs room and enjoyed a delicious full breakfast, prepared by Mike, before we hit the road. We definitely will return to this beautiful Inn!

A relaxing, quiet weekend retreat! The Baywood is beautifully situated in the woods on the Bay, with breathtaking views. Our room had a perfect balcony to watch the sunset. Coffee was served outside the room so we didn't have to venture far before coming down to a fresh homemade breakfast-always served with the Baywood Muffins! Mike was a great resource of things to do. The Baywood is a bit outside Cape Charles so do keep that in mind. Can't wait to come back!

We enjoyed our stay at Baywood. We had a woods view room which was very nice. The bay view rooms are much more desirable in my opinion. The hosts were very gracious and the breakfast was great. If we ever get down that way again we would definitely consider staying at the Baywood, only the next time I would try to reserve a bay view room.

Room was large, clean, comfortable (with couch and coffee table, with walk-in closet, spacious bath with shower and separate soaking tub, plenty of natural light, and beautiful views of the bay from our private balcony. Innkeeper very knowledgeable of the history of the area and full of suggestions of what to see and do (especially outside). The kitchen bar was a great place for wine and cheese. Breakfasts were much more than "continental" (which is what they advertise). Plenty of protein (eggs and sausage) and fruit.

I did not know what to expect, but this was better than I could have imagined...we just used it as a place to stay overnight on the way to Outer Banks, but this is actually a vacation destination...the rooms are clean with great view of Chesapeak Bay, the yard overlooks the bay and the swimming right behind the B&B is nice, or you can go to one of the 2 public beaches nearby. Mike the owner recommended the "Oyster Farm Eatery" as a place to eat...my wife and I had some of the best meals either of us had ever eaten...the desert was great. Breakfast is served in the B&B and was plentiful and delicious...we look forward to coming here again...as my title says...just make the reservation and go, you will be happy that you did

The baywood is simply wonderful. We have stayed multiple times, the service, breakfast and friendliness of the inn keeper mike is incredible. Book it you won't regret it.

This was our second stay at The Baywood and already book for 2016. Our room was perfect, great view of the bay for sunsets. Quiet relaxing, the host are so nice and helpful. Meals were splendid. You feel like your at home the good comfortable feeling.

Great B&B and gracious owner. The breakfasts were near perfect, not too much, not too little, with fresh fruit, tasty quiches and wonderful homemade (secret recipe) muffins. The fitness trail is literally across hwy 13, whereupon you can walk, run, ride, a bike for several miles. Very nice time there.

Our family of 4 had another wonderful stay at the Baywood. Mike makes our girls feel so welcome there. The lovely pictures of their granddaughters explain why ¿¿ The room was perfect for us. The view is gorgeous, and the private beach is really a huge plus! Our breakfast there was delicious - spinach quiche, fruit, and fresh baked muffins. We would love to come back again.

We absolutely love The Baywood! The service is fantastic, the home-cooked breakfasts are to die for and the view from the back yard and balconies could not be any better! The owners are so friendly and courteous and go above and beyond to make the stay as enjoyable as possible. This was our second trip to The Baywood and we will definitely stay there again in the future!

This was our second stay at the Baywood. It is really fabulous.

Mike & Sharon were welcoming and gracious hosts. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We could only stay one night and had to leave early in the morning, but Mike cheerfully made us coffee and muffins (excellent muffins!) before we left. I highly recommend The Baywood, and my husband and I plan to return when we are in the area.

Our stay here was delightful. The views are stunning and the beach ideal for a lovely stroll. At night the stars and moon from the balcony are framed by a ring of trees that create the feeling of a night sky observatory. The room was comfortable, extremely clean, and beautifully decorated. The host was so professional and accommodating that we lacked for nothing and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This is absolutely a gem. We came down because I was running the Shamrock Marathon. Our host Mike made sure our stay was perfect in every way, including early morning coffee on race day. The muffins and quiche were fabulous, and we enjoyed exploring the area. Mike gave us many great tips, and I loved that he was a history buff, and knew much of the local history. The room was beautiful, the view was awesome, and the bed was comfy. Don't even hesitate to stay here. I'm a restaurant owner, and I'm very tuned in to hospitality, and this was first rate.

Our stay was more than we expected. We arrived a little late, which we called ahead to let Mike know, but he was more than understanding. When we arrived he greeted us at the door and gave us a little tour and showed us to our rooms. The room was very clean and comfortable. It didn't feel as if we were staying in someone's house. He suggested a place to eat dinner that night, Kelly's Gingernut Pub and it was amazing. Mike was a great host and very friendly. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to stay.

My husband and I dont stay in a lot of B&B's because we dont like the feeling we are staying in someones house. The Baywood had more of an Inn feel and was mot awkward for us. Our stay was very enjoyable, our room was very comfortable and the bay view was great. We woul liked to have been able to spend some time on the deck off our room but weather didn't permit. Breakfast was good. Fantastic muffins!

I arrived just at dusk...took my dog and went down to the beach, then sat on the bluff in the provided lawn chairs and had my beverage and snacks. The room was comfortable and it all felt homey and elegant. This is a gem!

The B & B accommodations were modest but the breakfast and setting were spectacular. Quiet setting with the option to walk the property and beach or just relax and take in the view. The host, Mike, was very personable and well versed on local dining and activities. Very enjoyable time!

Proposed to my Fiance on the private beach. Mike, the host, was a wonderful chef in the morning with a spinach quiche and Eggs Ole. The rooms were clean and the soaker tub in the room was a treat. Coffee every morning in the hallway was a bonus Mike obviously works hard and cares for the condition of his pride and joy.

We stayed at the Baywood over the first weekend of November. It was very nice and welcoming. The view is spectacular and we were well taken care of. Mike is the perfect host (a good cook too) and he took the time to explain the history of the area and suggested some sightseeing areas. The Baywood is the perfect getaway!!

I had an exceptional stay at The Baywood Bed and Breakfast on a recent trip to North Carolina. I frequently travel between Pennsylvania and North Carolina and decided to stay overnight on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. I was tired of the impersonal hotel stays. I've always loved the Eastern Shore and the Baywood is located in a spectacular location. A walk on the beach in the morning or at sunset is not to be missed. The views are so beautiful. Mike was extremely helpful and personable and gave me an outstanding recommendation for dining. My room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and I felt as though I was staying in the home of a good friend. This is one of the outstanding places to stay on the Eastern Shore.

The Baywood is our favorite B&B when we are returning from Myrtle Beach. We visit Mike and Sharon twice a year and they always make us feel so welcome in their home. Mike serves a great breakfast topped off with his own Baywood Muffin. The sunsets are beyond description as dusk comes to the Chesapeake Bay. You will find yourself tucked away in such a lovely peaceful setting. The Baywood is a wonderful treasure situated right on the water. Ray & Sandee Freeman, Pocono Mts. Pa.

My wife and I came to the Baywood Bed and Breakfast to celebrate our 24th anniversary. The accommodations for the price was exceptional, this was our first stay here and we will most definitely be back. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and very nicely decorated with a very roomy bathroom. Our room also had a sitting area with a couch. The large porch overlooking the river was perfect for relaxing. Each morning there is coffee and tea on a cart outside the bedroom doors at 6 am. Mike's hospitality was great, he is very informative to the area and things to see. He made us feel very welcome and shared his stories like we were old friends. Enjoyed talking and laughing with him. Breakfast around the dining room table at 8:30 gave us a chance to meet the other guests. It was a great time of talking and learning about each other. The food was amazing, we left the table very full!! If you are looking for a quiet, friendly place to get away for a weekend or for one night passing through (love that he doesn't require a 2 night stay like some) then this is the place to be. Mike is a joy to talk to and hes very kind hearted. Even the cat, Luigi, stole our hearts. And we are not cat people. We love the lighthouse room. Its a lovely place to stay and reflect on all thats beautiful in life. We will return again.

This is a lovely B & B that we would highly recommend! The view was unbelievable (sunset) and the balcony provided a peaceful way to start the day. Mike (owner and cook) was very friendly and went above and beyond his responsibilities by inviting our daughter and grandson to spend some time with us. The access to the beach just adds to the appeal.
5 on October 21, 2014
One of the finest B&Bs we ever had the pleasure to stay in. Both the room and en suite bath were roomy and well-apppointed.. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the bay - a beautiful setting. Baywood is conveniently located near the Eastern Shore National Wildlife Refuge and the Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel. Our host, Mike, offered information about local restaurants and things to see and do in the area. Be sure to try one of his fabulous muffins! We highly recommend a stay at the Baywood.

Upon arriving at the Baywood, you drive down a winding driveway that highlights the fabulous trees. There is ample parking in the circle drive and the Inn's 2 cats, Louigi and Oscar will come to greet you. Our host MIke met us at the door and gave us a quick tour. The back of the house is the guest area with windows running the length of the house that overlook a spacious back yard edged by forest, and continuing on to the Bay, The area is breathtaking - raptors soar through the backyard and deer tentatively peek from the forest as the sun sets over the Bay. Our room (in fact almost all the rooms) was on the second floor up a rather steep flight of steps. The steps opened to a landing, where Mike placed fresh coffee and tea for self service every morning. We stayed in one of the rooms with a view of the Bay - well worth the additional cost. Our room was very spacious, tasteful, and had a wide balcony with chairs for watching the waves softly lap to the beach. There was a spacious bathroom with a large shower and a super-sized tub. We slept very soundly. Breakfast was excellent - egg casserole, muffins to die for, bacon, and fresh fruit served in authentic clam like shells. The host, MIke, is a true renaissance man. He owns and designed the B&B, made a beautiful tile counter front of a crab, was building a bookcase while we were there, volunteers as a coach, is a substitute teacher, takes folks out on his boat - and smiles constantly. He was a terrific tour guide providing us "behind the scene" tidbits on where to find local history and excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. We stayed last weekend, and have already reserved a spot for next year. This little jewel will soon be well known as the best place to stay on the peninsula. Better book it now!

It was unfortunate that my wife and I spent only one night here. The location is beautiful and peaceful. Mike and Sharon could not have been more hospitable. Very comfortable and pleasant. We can't wait to plan a getaway just to relax.
5 on October 09, 2014
Probably the best B&B experience we've had. Innkeeper Mike provided the perfect balance between exceptional service and allowing us privacy like we were in our own home. Location secluded, peaceful and gorgeous. Accommodations space-wise, comfort wise and food-wise superb. Incredible value for the money! Plan to return again.

Not only is the property modern and well designed and appointed, it is located in a wonderful setting with direct access to the beach. The grounds are very nicely done (partly by Nature) and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. Baywood is very definitely on our list to return to. We only spent one night, but wished we had booked for more. Thanks for a great experience. Jim & Dee Rush

My husband and I wanted a weekend away to celebrate our anniversary. From our first encounter with the host we were made to feel right at home. The view from our room was spectacular!! The accommodations very comfortable and the hospitality impeccable. We really enjoyed the breakfast ( especially the famous Baywood muffins) and the fruit presentation is enchanting. Our walk along the beach was beautiful and private. We will definitely stay again!! We enjoyed dinner at Aqua upon recommendation from the host and the sunset was amazing and food was delicious.

We found our way to The Baywood B&B, thanks to TripAdvisor - and from now on it will be not just our "on the way to" place, but will make this gorgeous spot a destination for upcoming trips. I almost hate to say how stunning the views are and how incredibly helpful and friendly Mike was - and of course "Luigi" the top cat in residence. We did not stay in one of the rooms with the bay view, however it was very nice and quite comfortable. The highlight of this place is the big back porch and sweeping lawn...to the view of views - and the fantastic breakfast! Now just trying to figure out when to come back next! We stayed in early September and I'm sure it's wonderful year round.

Spent one night, which was great that they take single night stays. The property was beautiful and well kept, the room (Lighthouse room) was fabulous. Balcony overlooking the bay was great, suggestions for dinner panned out well, breakfast was delicious, took a walk on the beach in the morning, and were invited to stay and enjoy the grounds beyond checkout. Will definitely be back to spend more time. The only possible downside is the walls are thin, in that we could hear the neighbor coughing. Which also meant they could hear us . . . on our way to the rest of our honeymoon.

August 20th we stayed a jouney south. We were so in love with BayWood B&B as soon as we turned into the tree lined driveway. Our host was terrific and interesting. Very enjoyable person. The view in the back of the bay was wonderful. Yummy breakfast to start our next day drive. We will again stay at Baywood B&B but for several days next time.

Unlike most B&Bs the Baywood was buolt from scratch to be a B&B. Excellent views, private beach, extremely gorgeous place, quiet setting and a phenomenal host in Mike V. Don't miss this place.
5 on September 15, 2014
We stayed 2 nights at the Baywood and enjoyed it very much. We would have enjoyed it more if it had not rained 12 inches while we were there, but that certainly was not their fault. Our host, Mike, was gracious, friendly, helpful and a good cook. the inn was very comfortable, clean and welcoming. We will go back, hopefully we can then take advantage of the beach and water right outside his back yard.

Once again, another wonderful stay at the Baywood. The room was nice, the view is just amazing and it is the perfect place to just get away and relax. Breakfast is huge and will typically last you until dinner time. The town itself is small and not a lot to do, but Mike, the owner can tell you all about what is around and suggest things to do and see. Love the Baywood, already planning on going back.
5 on August 12, 2014
On our way from Courtland to Cape Charles, we stayed one night at the Baywood B&B. We both wish we could have stayed longer. What a gem! We enjoyed breakfast with some return visitors and they had such a grand time. Traveling from Massachusetts, we will be back. Next time we will plan to stay here a little longer.
5 on August 10, 2014
The Baywood B&B is an amazingly beautiful location. The grounds are gorgeous and the backyard area is directly on the bay. Mike and Sharon, the owners, made me feel at home from the first moment I arrived. The breakfasts were fresh and delicious. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. This place is a taste of paradise! I can't wait to return!

We had a wonderful stay at your B&B! Everything was just what we needed, and far more than we expected in today's world of poor service. The owner could not have been nicer. We will return- it has become part of our yearly budget! We are telling friends and folkes we meet that they must go there. Carla and Kevin

Words cannot describe the serenity and beauty of this remote B&B set high up overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. My husband and i have been staying in Cape Charles for over 25 years, as it is a perfect halfway point on our trip to the Jersey Shore. We had always stayed in a hotel right on the bay that was mediocre at best, but we were charmed by the beach and love the majestic sunsets. One day when we were riding our bikes, we came across the unassuming sign for the Bay View Bed & Breakfast. We rode down the long winding driveway nestled in the trees and were immediately impressed by the beauty of the old house and the grounds. There is a huge back yard with rocking chairs and hammocks overlooking the Bay. And the rooms are beautiful with every amenity, including a jacuzzi tub and very comfortable bed. Mike and Sharon, the Innkeepers, went out of their way to meet our every need. We particularly loved the large deck that opened up from our bedroom door where we had dinner while we enjoyed the sunset. I love to swim and find the Chesapeake the perfect temperature, much warmer than the Atlantic, and it is so shallow you can walk way out and find starfish, see marine life and beautiful birds. There is a wildlife sanctuary just across the street and lots of bike trails. We are so glad we discovered the Bay View and will be back every year. It is the highlight of our vacation and the ideal midpoint stop between Atlanta and Cape May, New Jersey, or for those going the other way, from the Northeast to the Outer Banks.

This was our third visit, and, just like last year, we've already made a reservation for next year. They provide a quiet, relaxing place and you decide what to do, whether you go exploring or stay right there on the beach.
5 on July 23, 2014
We spent our 25th anniversary here. It was a wonderful escape! The rooms are gorgeous and so is the view. Breakfast is outstanding and served promptly at 8:30. The coffee was waiting in a thermos outside our door when we woke up. The beach is beautiful. We walked for over a mile and didn't see another person. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a romantic getaway. We can't wait to go back!

We love everything about The Baywood! Stayed for one night in the Lighthouse Room for a quick romantic getaway. Our visit was perfect from start to finish. The room is large and comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the mighty Chesapeake Bay, and an oversized tub perfect for a relaxing bubble bath. Loved waking up and being able to see the bay from my pillow. Breakfast was absolutely delicious: spinach quiche, fresh fruit, delicious muffins, coffee. Special dietary needs were happily accommodated. The private beach has warm, gentle waves and interesting shells and creatures to observe. Our host, Mike, is warm and friendly and happy to meet the guest's every request. If we had one complaint, it would be that the wi-fi was a little on the slow side -- but since we were there to connect with each other, and not our devices, it was a very minor inconvenience. Looking forward to a longer stay next time!

We stayed at Baywood B&B for one night... we were enroute home (Yorktown VA) from an Eastern Shores (VA, DE, & MD) vacation. The B&B is located at the southern tip of Virginia’s Eastern Shore peninsula (last stop before entering the Chesapeake Bay Bridge southbound). The Baywood’s property is secluded, charming, and well maintained. Rooms are extremely comfortable and quite… both bedrooms and common areas. From our room’s balcony (Lighthouse Room), back yard, & private beach there are out-of-this-world views of the Chesapeake Bay. Upscale dinners are available in Cape Charles (~10 minute drive north). A simply wonderful sit down breakfast was served at 0830 all guests… in our case was two additional couples. Bottom line… the Baywood is quiet, comfortable, well maintained, and fun. Food was outstanding. My wife and I will go back in a heartbeat… if for nothing more than a quite night away from home.

The Baywood Bed and Breakfast was an absolutely delightful place for us to spend a week's vacation. We stayed in one of the rooms overlooking the bay, and would highly recommend that. Mike and Sharon are so nice, and Mike was very helpful in giving us ideas for nearby kayaking and biking. We will be back, and will recommend it to our friends.

This is a great location right on the Bay. The rooms are spacious and clean with large baths and/or showers. The breakfast is always fresh and copious. The outside balcony of our room facing the water is in urgent need of some power washing and a fresh coat of paint. Salt water takes its toll and some TLC is required to bring the whole property up to outstanding.
3.2 on June 05, 2014
I found the location of this Bed and Breakfast simply breathtaking. The value of the room with the surroundings is truly a great deal. The room and bathroom were clean and nice. I rated most items as having met my expectation, however there were some touches I missed. I would have liked to enjoy the patio with the chairs and table having been cleaned. Upon arrival we were kind of lost. We didnt know if like other B&B's the common area was for us to sit in and use or not, including the Kuerig and/or other items. Not being met by someone, I was kind of disappointed that the room did not include a note with a tray of some treat and special touch that one would otherwise receive for the afternoon at a B&B (especially since I had highlighted we were there celebrating our engagement). It seems minor, but it is the kind of special touch one expects at this venue. There was a small ventilator fan for a.c. purposes that kept shutting off and did not cool down the room where the afternoon sun had been shining in on (upstairs). Had the night not been a cool one, this would have been unbearable to sleep in. My review sounds much harsher than I feel and I believe had there been someone there to take care of our needs and concerns, it would have felt differently. I certainly do recommend this lovely Bed and Breakfast to any travelers and hope that maybe we just arrived on an off-day where the reception was a bit less celebratory and the a.c. issue would have been addressed before we ever entered the room, i.e. the room would have been cooled down for our arrival. Thank you for having us and I hope to return.

My husband and I enjoyed a short 2 day stay at The Baywood near Cape Charles, VA. Our host and his staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful - i.e.: suggestions for dining, information on the area. The grounds around the house were beautiful, with various spots to sit, relax, or watch the bay and the sunset. A very nice, relaxing getaway from the busyness of life.

My wife recently completed a ( 3 ) week vacation to the Outer Banks of N.C. We spend one night on the way down and one night on the way back home at the Baywood. I can't say enough superlatives about this wonderful establishment. The rooms were excellent, the views of the Chesapeake fantastic and the breakfast served by the owner was out of this world. They have truly created a little bit of heaven with this establishment. The owner makes and serves breakfast to the guests just like one you would make at home. He spends time with each guest getting to know them and creating a very warm atmosphere. If you are traveling south or anywhere near Cape Charles, VA you must try staying at the Baywood. You will not be disappointed. Mike ( owner ) and his wife have truly created a 5-star stop. My wife and I will certainly become repeat guests. P.S. His "guard" cats ( Luigi & Oscar ) added a 6th star to our stay. They were so friendly and always around to make you feel like home. I'd wake up in the morning and they were waiting for me outside my door.

Staying at the Baywood Bed and Breakfast was such a treat. The rooms are spacious, bright and airy and having our own balcony to watch the sunset over the bay was incredible. He even let us bring our well behaved dog. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I spent a weekend here for our 10th anniversary, and really could not have asked for a better weekend. The peaceful relaxing environment was exactly what we needed. Mike was friendly and informative, the rooms where clean and comfortable, the view was breathtaking, and the food was great. The only flaw was that the area itself does not offer a lot of options for dining, but what is available was very good. We fully intend to return again in the future, and have been recommending The Baywood to everyone we know.

We had an amazing weekend stay at this bed and breakfast and can't say enough wonderful things about it. Our stay here was far beyond what we hoped for. This place is set in a quiet and serene atmosphere. Even though it is off a busy road, you can't hear anything because it sits far back from the road hidden amongst trees. We were able to disconnect from everything and enjoy peaceful nights, beautiful sunsets, a great view and wonderful walks from the private beach and at the local state park. This is the perfect place to be for an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and we can't wait to go back over and over again.

We enjoyed our stay, however, we checked in late and left very early, so we did not get to take advantage of the full breakfast. Our bed was comfortable, however, the tub didn't drain well, and there was noise from the highway that kept us awake. The setting is phenomenal and we felt that the money spent here was worth it, as far as surrounding accommodations go. Wish we could have stayed and spent some time rocking on the back porch and enjoying the bay view. Overall, a thumbs up from us for those undecided travellers.

We had a great 2-day stay. This was our first stay at a B&B--we cannot say enough good things about The Baywood. Comfortable accomodations and a beautiful view. Breakfast was such a treat. We especially enjoyed chatting with Mike in the evenings. We look forward to staying again when the weather is warmer.

We stayed for two nights. Our room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was excellent, and we'd be happy to stay again. Although it was cold when we visited, we enjoyed our walk along the beach.

I have stayed at a number of B&B's and this one ranked right up there. Great location, very friendly and responsive owners, clean, priced right, and great breakfast! I would definitely return here and recommend friends and family to visit as well.

We were only able to stay 1 night, the start of a long road trip down the coast, but wish we could have stayed longer. My husband & I were the only guest on an off night so they upgraded us to the best room in the house. The facility was clean & our hosts were welcoming. Breakfast was delicious, I could have eaten a dozen of their signature 'baywood muffins'!

No complaints whatsoever about our stay. Just make sure you know how to get there when you arrive! We came in late on a rainy night and it took us 20 minutes or so to find the entrance. Other than that it was a great experience.

I loved staying at the Baywood :) My boyfriend and I stayed here after his homecoming from Europe for several months and it was as peaceful and romantic as I could have hoped. The friendly owner greeted is upon our arrival and suggested a nice pub we could have a late dinner. The view from our window particularly at sunset took my breath away and the bed was SO comfortable! If I could think of anything the baywood could possibly improve on it would be better quality tissue in the bathroom but that's such a minor thing it's almost inconsequential. Can't wait to stay there again!

This visit was part of a twentieth anniversary celebration, and it did not disappoint! The place is so nice, the view is amazing, the owner was very accommodating and he tried very hard to make everything about the visit extra special. We recommend this to anyone who values a quiet time and a warm, comfortable experience.

The Baywood has great scenery. The rooms are decent, but you may hear other guests through the thin walls. There was no TV, which was fine with me but some people might want one. Management did respond quickly to our request to turn up the heat. The balconies were in desperate need of pressure washing. Breakfast was an egg casserole type dish and it was good, but I was expecting a more traditional meal (i.e. bacon, eggs, pancakes, etc). Overall, it was a nice stay and if you want to see the outdoors on the eastern shore and it has great access to the beach and surrounding areas. If they can keep the balconies maintained and step up the breakfast, it would go from good to great.

This place is amazing - plain and simple! I literally googled "Bed and Breakfast Eastern Shore" and this was one of the places that popped up and I am super stoked about my decision! Not only was Mike a gracious host, we also met an amazing couple that had just gotten married and were on the same mission we were - a quick getaway from real life! Thanks so much Baywood, we will be back! -Ryan & Amy

Baywood is a beautiful relaxing place to stay. The rooms were affordable, spacious and clean. Then innkeepers are friendly and helpful. We visited Cape Charles with two other couples and were so excited to stay at the Baywood but we had to cancel our reservation the night before our stay as we noticed in other reviews that cats were present. We called owner Sharon, told her that my husband is highly allergic to cats and she suggested we not stay at the Baywood since the cats did roam the house. Our friends stayed for the weekend at the Baywood and would recommend for anyone to stay!

A very warm welcome given on arrival and a beautiful house to stay in pus an excellent location. Breakfast the next day was varied and tasty. A faultless B&B which we will recommend to friends without hesitation.

We really enjoyed our night at this beautiful B & B. Very gracious hosts, lovely home with the stunning views of Chesapeake Bay. We loved our quiet room and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. Breakfast was perfect and we couldn't ask for a nicer view as we ate. Very clean and comfortable. My husband was relieved he could enjoy the tv in the fireplace area. We only wish we lived closer so we could have stayed longer. Thank you from MN!

Lovely B&B, friendly owners, incredible sunset views, short walk on lawn to chairs overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. coffee waiting for you outside your bedroom door when you wake, and a a delish breakfast served in the dinning room around 8-8:30.

What a beautiful and peaceful place. The water views our outstanding. Even though we had some cloud cover for sunset it was still wonderfully relaxing to sit outside with a glass of wine some cheese and a beautiful water view.

.....this was our second stay a Baywood. A very nice, convenient to get to B&B located in the woods along rt 13 just north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Accommodations are clean, quiet and the breakfast is good. The daily cleaning is excellent however the building maintenance could stand to be improved. It is starting to show the signs of neglect on the outside. The sunsets across the Chesapeake Bay are spectacular. If you are looking to stay in the Cape Charles area for a couple of days or just overnight, Baywood is highly recommended.

We stayed overnight on our way to Virginia Beach. We loved this place! Our room was clean, the view from our room was amazing and the breakfast delicious! You had your own bathroom which was large and spacious. This B&B is definitely on our return to list!

We had a very pleansant short stay at the Baywood and enjoyed it very much. Mike was a wonderful host and was an absolute pleasure. We had a breath taking view of the bay from our second floor room. We will definitely stay with them again when we visit with friends at Cape Charles. Thanks Mike!

We stayed in this b&b for our honeymoon. The views were amazing and the owner made sure we enjoyed the stay. The only problem was the b&b's location. Not much of anything to do and had to drive 30 mins to go anywhere to get dinner. Not any attractions in town either.
5 on September 19, 2013
My hubby and i stopped on or way down to the outer banks (leaving from Pennsylvania) it was a great break in our drive and the house was lovely. The beach and views were outstanding, especially the sunset. FYI you have to walk down a number of steps to get to the beach ... Not any problem for us, but even if you cannot make it down, they have adirondack chairs to admire the view! We both agreed that the best part of our stay was breakfast!!! We had a delicious, light egg dish with sausages, a Baywood muffin and fresh fruit. . . just what we needed to start our day (along with plenty of good coffee)

We stayed at the inn for our recent anniversary, and it was better than expected. the view was beautiful, the room was large, yet quaint. It was like having your own private beach also. And, the host was better than any we have had anywhere else; you couldn't ask for more! I am already planning another stay and recommending to my friends as well. Thanks, Mike for everything!

From the moment we headed down the curvy, sea-shell driveway, we knew we booked something cool. The Lighthouse room was very roomy, clean, had a ton of extremely clean windows overlooking the bay and even had a roomy walk-in closet. Sitting out on the balcony and watching the boats and lights across the bay was so relaxing. There was easy beach access with lots of crabs and sea shells. We had a coffee cart right outside our room bright and early. Breakfast was well-rounded and very filling. We ate with a gorgeous unobstructed view of the bay. The staff was very nice, yet left us to our privacy. We could not be happier!

When faced with driving from Annapolis to Norfolk for a Monday morning meeting I decided to try a new approach and drive down the Delmarva Peninsula. To avoid another soulless stay at a chain hotel in Norfolk I took a chance on the Baywood Bed & Breakfast (found on the internet) located just a few miles above Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel next to Kiptopeke State Park. It was terrific. It is located on the Chesapeake Bay with its own beach and beautiful views from the house. I sat on the porch which opened from my second story room and watched a vivid sunset while sipping good whiskey. The house and rooms are clean, spacious and filled with light - definitely not the cramped chintz and pot pourri filled B&B. Mike was a gracious host and rose early to fix a special breakfast to accomodate my dawn departure. I only wished I could have stayed for a week. Thank you. -- Steve F.

This was the first bed and breakfast that I had ever been to. It was great. It was very private and I felt right at home. I loved it. I have already recommended it to others! And it has a beautiful view. Very relaxing.

This was supposed to be a restful weekend before my wife and I welcomed our first child into the world. The first part of the weekend began this way but the second half was anything but. We had some major car issues and were only able to make it through because of the generosity and kindness shown to us by Mike. We are forever indebted to him and we hope to visit again and again.
5 on August 21, 2013
The Bed and Breakfast itself was very charming, the driveway was beautiful as were the room, the grounds the view. The Host, Mike was a very gracious charming man who made all of his customers feel very much like family. Would highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Baywood for a weekend getaway. Our stay was good, but we were not overly impress and will probably find a different B&B for our next getaway. We stayed in the Cape Charles room, which was nice but needed some minor changes to make it better. There was paint chipped off the walls/trim, our balcony looked like it had not been cleaned in a long while, and no TV in your room. The location right on the water was great and sunset beautiful, and my wife was very excited about the private beach, until we walked down to it and found MANY dead animals (probably a dozen horse shoe crabs and a giant sea turtle). Breakfast was fine, but there was a mix up one morning where there was no breakfast served (but we were comped for it). There is very little to do in this area and at times it felt like a ghost town. Very few options for dinning (although both Aqua and Kelly's Gingernut Pub were both great food), with really horrible service at both Kelly's Gingernut and Don Valerio's, but Aqua's service was great! Overall the experience wasn't bad, but had many little things pile up to make it not a place we will visit again.

My husband & I returned to the Baywood for a second time this past weekend two years, almost to the week, from our previous visit, & we're planning to make it a yearly destination. We can't stop talking about our stay & longing for the quiet solitude of the warm sand (unless you count the hilarious ghost crabs!). Mike was a wonderful host, making us feel right at home as we relaxed in front of the living room TV, watching our beloved Orioles. Add in his gracious family members, helpful staff, two friendly cats, Luigi & Oscar, & it was like being at home. Breakfast each morning was delicious and beautifully presented. We stayed in the Lighthouse Room during our 3 night visit. It’s a beautiful, clean room with a nice sitting area, a large walk-in closet, spacious bathroom & a big balcony affording an incredible view of the bay. The bed was quite comfortable, & there are nice touches such as a full-sized hairdryer, & Bath & Body Works lotions & bubble bath in the room. We drove the 10 minutes into Cape Charles each day during our stay for meals, visiting The Shanty (excellent location right on the harbor), Kelly's Gingernut Pub (old-fashioned dining in town) & the Coach House Tavern (at the Bay Creek Resort Golf Club...upscale atmosphere.) We also visited Sting-Rays for a piece of sweet potato pie & a piece of bread pudding. This was our outpost for purchasing adult beverages to take back to the Baywood. Do the same. Place them in the sand next to your chair, kick back & enjoy a front row seat to the spectacular show that is a classic Virginia sunset. Cape Charles is lovely and peaceful. We enjoyed walking along the pier to watch folks fishing & crabbing. A warning...the sidewalks effectively roll up around 5 or 6pm, & many stores & restaurants are closed on Sunday & Monday. Not that this is a bad thing, mind you. It just gives you more time to relax, soak up the sun & stroll back through time a little to when things weren't quite so busy.

Nice place to stay, quiet, awesome view. We liked the lighthouse room. It was very clean. In the night it was very hot. One night we had a few hours no eletricity.,we had to ask two times to the innkeeper to put the airco cooler, you can not do this on you own.

Located next to a wildlife sanctuary on one side and a very few, very quiet neighbours on the other makes this a perfect place for a quiet, serene getaway. Mike is a warm and gracious host with a nice family. The room and house are first rate (newer home only 6 years old). Our room overlooked the bay and had a nice balcony as well. Big bathroom. Coffee waiting outside your door in the morning. Fantastic. Lovely winding driveway. Deer around the area. And a beautiful private beach with a fantastic view. Lots of ghost crabs along the beach popping out of holes and crabbing about. Warm waters and unparalleled sunsets. Breakfast was delicious. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Next time for at least 5 days of R & R. Ed & Linda from Canada

We arrived in the rain and were met at the door. We were quickly shown to our room which was gorgeous, overlooking the bay. I'm sure the sunsets are breathtaking, when it's not raining. Although it rained most of our visit, it did not stop us from enjoying the bay, swimming in the rain. Coffee was great, starting early before breakfast, which was delicious. The owners are warm and friendly. We had great conversations. We would do it again in a heartbeat, even in the rain. Thank you Baywood for a great escape. We hope to return. Our daughter treated my husband and I to a one night stay at The Baywood Bed & Breakfast a few weeks ago. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and this was the perfect getaway for us. There were wine and flowers in our room when we arrived. We stayed in the Lighthouse Room - it was extremely clean and comfortable and the view of the Bay was spectacular. I can't wait to return and would highly recommend the Baywood to anyone looking for some quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

We stayed 2 nights night at the Baywood B & B and it was an awesome experience. It was right on the water and the our hosts made you feel at right at home. The breakfasts were just delicious.....homemade muffins (to die for) , breakfast casseroles, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit.......it was enough to hold us till dinner. We are already planning our next trip to Cape Charles and the Baywood B & B. Out of 5 stars I would give it a 10!

We recently stayed at Baywood Bed and Breakfast and were struck with the exquisite charm of the house, landscaping and surroundings. The views were beautiful, and the staff was gracious and very accommodating with our two young children who accompanied us. It was the perfect set-up for a family of two kids where after hours we could relax on the back porch amid rocking chairs, fire flies, ocean air and the sound of breaking waves viewed from the top of a cliff. We will be visiting again. Thank you for the exceptional service Baywood!

Baywood was as advertised on their website - a beautiful quiet property overlooking the Chesapeke Bay. Mike, the owner, was helpful with dining tips and suggestions for activities on Virginia's Eastern shores. It is a peaceful place and the breakfasts were delicious. We enjoyed walking the beach and watching sunsets. We hope to visit again soon.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Baywood B&B. We stayed there on a beautiful June evening and slept with the door of the balcony overlooking the Chesapeake Bay open all night long- listening and falling to sleep to the sounds of the waves and not being bothered by the bugs. We will do this again.

When searching for a place to stay to get away for our tenth anniversary, we happened upon the Baywood B & B. After our longer than expected drive from Ohio, we finally arrived at our destination. We pulled into the wooded drive which winds maybe 75 yards or so and is nicely lit. After parking our vehicle and getting out to take a much needed stretch, we were greeted by the smell of roses and by Mike, the owner/host, who happened to be outside at the time. After a friendly greeting and brief overview of the Baywood, he offered to help us take our luggage to our room, which we accepted. The home is beautiful, well taken care of, and has a breathtaking setting. Our room was clean, comfortable, and the perfect size. We had an ocean view room which has full length windows lining the wall facing the bay. This is completed by a glass door that can be opened to the adjacent balcony. The room is complete with a walk-in closet. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and more than adequate. The owners were very nice and accommodating. There are no televisions in the rooms which was actually pretty nice, and WiFi is provided but the signal is not very strong. The backyard is roomy and beautiful thanks to the backdrop of the bay. The beach is easily accessible simply by crossing the yard and going down some wood steps. The beach is not only beautiful, but also secluded. Most of the time we had it all to ourselves, and that's in early June. I don't know what some of the other reviewers didn't like, but the breakfasts were hearty (we were plenty full each day), good, and tasty. Mike seemed to take great pride in his "Baywood muffins", and rightfully so. The value of this place is amazing. Why would anyone stay at a cramped hotel/inn when they could stay here for the same or better price? Part of me hates to give the Baywood such a good review and praise as we'd love to keep it from being too in demand. But it's a rave review that's well deserved.

Was there for a couple of days during the memorial day w/e. Wanted to relax and stay away from the commercial beach-front VA beach areas. Was my first time in the area and I am happy to have chosen Baywood B&B for my stay. Nice location, nice owners/staff, and a positive overall experience. Walk down the stairs from their backyard and you are at the bay! Nice park near-by and lots of small nature trails. Make sure you enjoy the beautiful sun-set from the balcony or from the backyard. Om Shanti/Peace.

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful weekend at The Baywood. The location is perfect and the beach is wonderfully secluded. We barely saw anyone who wasn't also a guest at The Baywood. The breakfast, including the much talked about muffins, was great. The beds were comfortable. The views were spectacular, especially at sunset. Wonderful owners who love their home and love sharing it with guests. Cape Charles is a short drive away and the owners are happy to make suggestions. We look forward to returning.

The house is beautifully situated on the Chesapeake Bay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with large bathtubs and nice views. The owner was friendly and stayed out of they way for the most part. Breakfast was fine but nothing special, just eggs, bacon, and a store-bought muffin. Nonetheless, for the price we were quite satisfied.

The views/sunset were so beautiful! My husband and I were very satisfied with this place. We highly recommend this to anyone who's looking for a relaxing getaway. Their breakfast muffins were so delicious too! They do keep cats in their house, so if you are allergic just come prepared. They don't bother the guests at all. I

The house was amazing and so were the owners Mike and Sharon. They were very helpful in providing us all the details about what we could do and where we could go to in Cape Charles. The house itself was wry beautiful and contemporary. Beach is right on the backyard. Very private. I wish it was less breezy and more sunny during the weekend we were there so we could have enjoyed the place and beach better. But we will be definitely going back in summer.
4.2 on March 07, 2013
The main draw here is the view of the Chesapeake Bay at sunset. Our room was large with a private bath and oversize tub which I enjoyed. Terrycloth robes were available and 3 dispensers in the shower which held shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. The owner recommended a nice restaurant in town for dinner about 10 minutes away. Breakfast was scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and a large fresh-baked muffin. I would recommend this B&B. The only drawback is that the rooms don't have their own TVs. There is a large screen TV above a fireplace downstairs with very comfotable couches. If you want to get away from it all, it is a very quiet, serene setting about 50 yards from the bay.

We had a great stay at the Baywood. The house is right on the water and because of the state park next door had a deserted private beach. The room was great, very modern, and the bed was comfortable. We would love to stay there again, especially in the summer when we could spend a lot of time down on the beach.

This was our first experience at a bed and breakfast and we were pleasantly surprised. We got there just in time to see the sunset and walk along the sand before it got too dark. Being from Hawaii, I have seen my fair share of sunsets and this one was breath taking. We had a wonderful time meeting such great people (owners and other guests). Breakfast was also good. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

My boyfriend and i plan to return in the near future. Next time we will be sure to bring our laptops and dvds for there is no televisions in the bedrooms. That was the only thing that caught us by suprise upon our arrival. Still none the less it was a wonderful and beautiful experience.

The house has an amazing view and the bedrooms that face the water are large and have big bathrooms with both a large tub and shower. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. You essentially have your own private strip of beach on the Chesepeake! You are ~15 minutes away from Cape Charles with some very good restaraunts. You can easily get to bike paths and do kiaking if you want. It was a great time.

My wife and I spent just one night with Mike and Sharon, and felt like we had known them for years. They were most accommodating, recommending restaurants for dinner and making us feel right at home. Breakfast was wonderful (juice, eggs, sausage, fruit bowl, and muffins you would die for). Wonderful view of the bay from their spacious backyard. Kiptopeke State Park and Eastern Shore NWR are extremely close by. When we decide to stay in this area again, we'll certainly stay here and hopefully for more than just one night next time.

We have stayed at the Baywood several times. The room and bathroom are outstanding, clean, and very spacious. We love the private beach and the ability to take long walks on the beach or just sit on the beach and watch the waves and the sunsets. The owners of the Baywood are wonderful and very accommodating. The breakfast is delicious and more food than you could ever want. If you are looking for a quiet and private setting to get away from it all with the one you love, then the Baywood is for you.

Arrived in the evening just in time to watch the long sun set, first from the private beach, then from the beautiful yard, then from my porch and finally from within my room. A morning run on the beach before breakfast took me to the edge of Kiptopeke Park which I explored further after breakfast on my bike, taking the bike path just across the road from Baywood B&B. The following day, I met a kayaking guide from SE Expeditions at one of SE's "outposts" which was a 2 minute drive south of the B&B, for a memorable trip paddling through marshes to nearby islands. The Eastern Shore Wildlife Refuge is right there, too, providing further opportunity to explore. What a wonderful base Baywood B&B provided for my 3 day respite!

Very satisfied. Mike was a great host and the home and view were wonderful. The dining-out places were somewhat limited but, nevertheless good. Overall, I would highly recommend the Baywood.

The rooms facing the water are large and each one has a walk-in closet. The bathrooms are very roomy and have both a "garden tub" AND a separate shower. Everything was very clean! Even the outdoor patio furniture was amazingly clean. The view from the patio is spectacular! It is so peaceful and quiet. It is as if you have the entire beach to yourself. What a relaxing getaway!

Great location! Enjoyed walking on the beach and watching the sunsets from our balcony. Would definitely recommend this place to friends and would stay there again the next time we are in the area.

Located directly on the Chesapeake Bay with spacious guest rooms and gracious hosts, you can't go wrong at the Baywood B&B. Located one mile from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, this is a superior place to stay while visiting the Eastern Shore. Highly recommend it!

We had a great time at The Batywood B&B and would highly reccommend this as a peaceful getaway for a long weekend or stop on the way to another destination. The rooms were really clean and loved our view of the bay! The breakfast each morning was amazing and fresh. Coffee was served upstairs as early as 6:30am! Overall a great place and would't think twice about staying here again. The only thing my BF didnt love was the lack of TV in the room -- I see his point but also feel that a non - tv space creates that real 'feel' you should be seeking by staying at a B&B. However, it's football season :) Thanks for a great stay and more importantly, a wonderful lasting memory of an awesome vacation. ~Jenn & Sean

Mike was a great host and it was a joy to sit with him at breakfast and share conversation and stories. We met couples from Britain, France, and Germany while there. The grounds were neat and well kept. The house and rooms were emaculate! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was very peaceful and calm. This is the most stress free environment. Great stay and are already planning our return trip.

Absolutely the most relaxing stay I've ever had at a Bed and Breakfast. Mike and Sharon are very hospitable. A terrificly warm welcome into their beautifully designed home....perfectly thought out for use as a Bed and Breakfast. Thanks so much for such a wonderful time. We look forward to returning some day.

We enjoyed our stay. We went at a time when there were not many people around, even in town. There were other people staying at The Baywood, but we rarely saw them. This was very okay with us. The food was great and the fruit dishes were cute. If we do something down that way again, we would go back.
5 on September 11, 2012
We were delighted with the house and grounds, and the view of the Bay from the large balcony off our room (Cape Charles Room) was the icing on the cake. We had thought the house was in town and, as we're walkers, we'd planned to walk to dinner, shopping, etc. As it turns out, this house is some 9 miles south of Cape Charles, so there's no walking anywhere but to the private beach. However, the Baywood turned out to be a great get-away and we wouldn't have traded it for an in-town location; it's private, peaceful, the service is friendly and efficient and the view just cannot be beat.

Sharon and Mike have a superior B and B in their natural ocean/shore setting, their gorgeous home and rooms and the beautiful grounds. Their 3 big cats are fantastic hosts too. Being and owner/operator of my own vacation rental I know the care it requires to get the details perfect.Baywood shows all the grace of true Southern hospitality.i will recommend your place highly and will certainly hope to return someday soon! We recently spent two summer days at The Baywood. It was not too far from home (just across the bridge) but we felt transported to another world. The room was comfortable, the hosts were friendly, the breakfasts were delicious, and the bay view was spectacular. We enjoyed the peaceful moments by the beach. Thank you, and we hope to return soon! J&J

We tried to stay here a year ago but a certain hurricane messed that up! Our family stayed in a bay view and woods view room. Both were great and very fresh. Everyone was friendly and left you be. It was a short but perfect stay. We had brought a picnic dinner with us and set up Tiki torches on the beach. The next morning we had a wonderful breakfast prepared by the staff and kayaked up the coast for the rest of our day. All the cats we're very friendly as well. Recommend...yes!

You never really know what you are going to get when staying at a bed and breakfast. I have had some good and some not so good experiences in the past so I really didn't know what I was getting into when I reserved a room for my boyfriend and I at The Baywood but this B&B far exceeded any expectations I had. The house is beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The view from the backyard is absolutely amazing! We were a little sad to have to leave and come back home, the whole experience at The Baywood was excellent and we plan to go back as soon as we can!
5 on August 04, 2012
We stopped here on our trip from Philadelphia area to New Bern NC. What a charming place to stay! The view is spectacular and the sunset was everything I had hoped to see. Our only regret is that we had to cancel our return stay due to a family emergency. We would definitely recommend the Baywood and look forward to staying here again sometime in the future. - Marilyn M.

The Baywood was AMAZING! The pictures do not do it justice. The sunsets really do look like the pictures, the rooms are more spacious than the pictures might lead you to believe, the grounds are very nice and very nicely kept, and everything is so convenient. Then there is the even better parts- Mike and Sharon the owners and Yuda the chef and helper. They all make every day even better than it would have been but not in the least bit intrusive. If you are looking for a very unique area for a getaway or just passing near on your way somewhere else this is a place you will be absolutely delighted you decided to stay :)

What a wonderful treat after a long day of travel. This was our first stay at a bed & breakfast and it won't be our last. The Baywood, overlooking the bay with it's beautiful sunsets is lovely. Our room was clean & spacious, the bed quite comfortable, the room nicely decorated. The breakfast Mike made for us was delicious. Mike and Sharon are friendly & accommodating. It takes special people to be able to share their home with others---Mike and Sharon are special. Our stay, as short as it was, was very nice with a "homey" feeling. Seeing deer was a special treat--The Baywood has both wildlife and sunsets, lovely comfortable rooms, good food, and Mike and Sharon. The perfect place to stay for a night, week, or longer. We will go back sometime for a longer stay. Martha & Jim Bruce East Greenbush, NY July 2012

We stopped here for one night on our way home from a 4th of July trip. We were able to get right into our room and down to the bayside beach within minutes of arriving, just in time for the great sunset and scenery. We came back to meet the owners who were very friendly and accommodating. When we asked for dinner recommendations, they knew where to go in detail. The food was tremendous at Kelly's Gingernut Pub in Cape Charles (about 8 miles away, recommend the burger). Otherwise, everything was smooth as silk. I only gave dining 4 stars because I didn't particularly like the egg casserole for breakfast (but I don't like egg casserole to begin with, so in retrospect I probably should have just said something and they probably would have accommodated, oh well). All in all, when I'm down that way again, I will certainly book at least 1 night here. Great job!

My husband and I stayed here for a night, and we LOVED it. We only wished we could have stayed the other 2 nights as well, but could not becuase it was booked. The B&B is BEAUTIFUL, very...very clean and decorated beautifully. We stayed in the Lighthouse Room, it is soooooooo nice and relaxing. Mike and Sharon were very nice and we loved talking to them. We also met their daughter (Rachel) and grandaughter (Layla), who were both so sweet. We can't wait to book another vacation, and we'll book it in advance so we WILL be able to book more than one night. Thank you for a relaxing time, we really love your B&B and have already told our friends and co-workers about you. And I HAVE TO make a comment about, what I felt was the best part of the trip, meeting Luigi, Oscar and Bangers...the Kitties. I'm a HUGE cat lover and I loved knowing that you had 3 cats there...just loved them all!!!!!!! Rob and Tammy Bloss Baltmore, Maryland

The owner greeted us at the door and carried our bags upstairs. I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful, clean and fresh it was. Plus, we had a wonderful view of the bay with a huge balcony. Breakfast was more than we could finish. I plan to return to the Baywood and urge individuals to check out this beautiful place. .. Brenda

My wife and I were looking to extend our Chincoteague/Eastern Shore vacation by one day, and we happened across The Baywood during our online search. We chose it because it was near the northern end of the Cheasapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (bay frontage), it was in our price range, and it included wireless internet access. We would have been happy with an acceptable night's stopover on our trip homeward, but we got MUCH more. One of the innkeepers' sons (Josh?) welcomed us and made us feel right at home. The rooms were beautiful, as were the views of the Chesapeake Bay. Everything was very comfortable and clean throughout. We would recommend the bay view rooms (we stayed in the Lighthouse room); as the name would imply, these have balconies that look out directly over the Chesapeake Bay. There is also a nice sitting/viewing area at the edge of the back yard, and a set of stairs down to a wonderful private beach, perfect for exploring or cooling off with a swim in the bay. Mike and Sharon were very friendly and interesting, without being obtrusive. It turned out we had a few interests in common with Mike, and we spent awhile chatting with him in the yard. The day we were there, breakfast included a few hot items, along with muffins, fresh fruit, and coffee. If anything, it was larger than generally prefer for breakfast, but no complaints there! All in all, we liked this B&B so much that we hope to return sometime when we can spend more than just one day exploring Cape Charles and the surrounding area.

My husband brought me to The Baywood to celebrate my birthday. I couldn't have been more pleased. It is such a peaceful place. The property the house is built on is beautiful, the interior of the house very inviting and the rooms so cozy. I loved everything from it's tree lined entrance, to it's cliff side view of the private beach. The views from the back yard are incredible. They have chairs out on the lawn so you can enjoy your own personal viewing of the sunsets over the water. Mike and Sharon, the owners, are lovely people and make you feel completely at home. They offer a delicious full breakfast in a room facing the water. However, if you can not attend they will accommodate with a continental breakfast if so desired. Also, they have coffee and hot water outside your room every morning. I felt so pampered. Baywood is a little hidden treasure and we will definitely be returning. Thank you Mike and Sharon for making my birthday so special!!.....oh, did I mention they accommodated my husband's request and had flowers waiting for me in the room for when we arrived.

My husband and I stayed for one night in June on our way to the outer banks. We were very satisfied with what we saw. The home is beautiful! very neat and clean and had everything we needed. The view from our room was spectacular. Big soaking tub and a shower and comfy white terry robes for each of you, nice touch.Walking along the bay right behind the house an added bonus. Perfect sunset! Great hosts! Coffee and tea right outside your room at 7 am and a great homemade breakfast at 8:30 unless you wanted it earlier. View from dining table was refreshing and peaceful. If you decide to chose Baywood you will be happy you did. I took many of their cards to share our new spot with friends.

We were very impressed with all aspects of the Baywood Bed & Breakfast. The facility was very picturesque, the room was very clean & comfortable. The beakfasts were excellent, my wife & I raved about the muffins. The veiw from the porch was spectacular, we watched the sun go down each night. The beach just a few steps down was deserted, the sand was great.

Baywood BB was perfect! The owners were extremely accommodating to my special dietary needs and very friendly! Our room opened up to a beautiful view of the Ocean. Technically it is a bay but you would never know as you can not see any land from the shore. We were surprised to find upon arrival there is also a hot tub. Fyi: Do bring bug spray though as the Mosquitos are vicious at night! There is a screened in porch with wicker chairs, rocking chairs lining the back porch facing the bay, there is an outdoor table where you can eat, and wooden chairs closer to the water along with a hammock. What more could you ask for? They even have chairs and an umbrella you can take to walk down and sit on their own private beach. I have never found so many large sea shells in my life! Quaint, quiet, and georgeous place. We will be back!!!!

I took my boyfriend for a romantic beach getaway. We had a private balcony with a view of the bay, and a private beach to enjoy alone. The room was fantastic, so much space, the bed was comfortable. I will come again, I cannot recommend this place enough! We also enjoyed the large tub for 2 in the bathroom.

We absolutely loved this B&B! It was our first time staying at one & wanted one by the beach for our one night get-away. We will totally stay here again. It was the right place, right time & right place! Highly recommend this B&B 2 anyone!

What a wonderful B & B! We arrived late at night, the host was kind enough to greet us and show us around. The room was large, clean and comfortable. In fact, it was the largest B & B bedroom that I have every stayed in. My husband and I were able to sit and read with plenty of room to be comforable. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub!! One had the run of the downstairs, including the kitchen which was stocked with drinks. The crowning glory was upon waking in the morning, I looked out the row of windows to see that we were on the Chesapeake Bay--what a beautiful sight!!! If it had not been raining the night before, it would have been delightful to sit on the deck with my coffee and look at the Bay. The bed was a double and I am used to a king, but it was extemely comforable. Breakfast was delicious and one could sit on the screened-in porch, drinking your coffee until breakfast was ready, freshly cooked. I cannot wait to visit the B & B again. Jean

This was a great experience. I especially enjoyed meeting a young German couple and a Canadian couple at the breakfast table. Very nice and friendly owner. Beautiful view of Chesapeake Bay. Some good fishing as well. Dined at Kelly's in Cape Charles. Good fresh clams and oysters. Hope to go back.

This was our first experience with a bed and breakfast and it far exceeded our expectations. In the future we will be looking for these type of accommodations versus the typical hotel/motel stays. It was a Christmas gift from, our children and upon returning I suggested that this would be a great on-going gift for us. Thanks.

One of the best bed & breakfast experiences you will ever have!
5 on May 30, 2012
The Baywood is a very nice B&B with an amazing view of the Chesapeake Bay. It's a perfect place to get away and very convenient to the Hampton Roads area. The innkeepers were so friendly and accomodating! They allowed us to check in early in spite of a late checkout from the previous guests and our room was ready an hour prior to the early arrival time! We stayed in the Lighthouse room and it was very clean, had a nice sitting area, a large (also very clean) attached bathroom, and a breathtaking wall of floor to ceiling windows (sunny in the morning) with a door out onto our own private deck overlooking the bay. The sheets on the bed were amazingly soft! Breakfast was great and the "Baywood Muffins" are so good. There are pets on the premises, which go in and out of the house, but are never allowed in the guest rooms. Downtown Cape Charles and most shopping/restaurants are a 10-20 minute drive away. If you're looking for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Bay this is a great place to stay!

This is the best B&B I've ever stayed at and will return for sure. The owners are sweet and friendly as well as accomadating. We stayed in the Cape Charles room while attending a wedding and were shocked at how large both the room and bathroom was for a B&B. We also had a balcony overlooking the bay. The breakfast and service were amazing. I kinda didn't want to leave!!! It was truly the most tranquil place being that I was 8 months pregnant it was perfect. The beach is just steps from the backyard so if you want to lay out you can or go for a peaceful walk like me and my husband did. It's about 8 minutes from the Baywood Golf course and Aqua restaurant. We really had the most amazing and experience here.

Just a mile from the visitor center is this outstanding B &B located on the beautiful Chesapeake. Be sure to reserve one of the rooms with a deck. Watch the birds, sunset and crab fisherman on the bay.The owners are very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Cape Charles is close by for dinner (go to Kelly's Pub).

We rented the entire house for our 10th Anniversary celebration with friends and it was one of the most relaxing weekends any of us has had in a long while! Breakfast is amazing and fresh. Mike's Baywood Muffins are a must try! If you are looking for a relaxing beach get away without all the hustle and bustle of beach city life this is the place!

We had never been to a bed and breakfast vacation before as we had always gone to all inclusive resorts. All I can say is I now what we have been missing. The view and sunsets at The Baywood left me speachless. The breakfast was delicious. More food than I normally eat and absolutely wonderful especially the "baywood muffins." It was breathtaking to be eating breakfast and look out into the bay to see dolphins frollicking in the water. We were made to feel like we were at home. Mike, Sharon, and their family were great!! Reserved Lighthouse Room Very enjoyable and comfortable. A bathroom shower upgrade is in order. Although it is functional, Takes a long time for water to become warm enough. Additionally shower head is not flexible so hard to direct spray to all locations on your body. Wall paper above shower in need of repair. Food was excellent. Coffee was delicious. If you want a good supper - we recommend the Aqua Restaurant in Cape Charles. Love the peacefulness and solitude offered at this BnB.

The house, the location, and the hosts were all exemplary. We arrived right at sunset and caught a breathtaking view over their private beach. The location is perfect because, as the name implies, the house is surrounded by scenery of both the woods and the bay. The house was very clean, cozy, and relaxing - my partner and I woke up saying the bed provided the best sleep we've ever had! The hosts were so gracious: they suggested phenomenal places for dinner and drinks, patiently waited two hours past breakfast time to serve our sleepyheaded selves, and put up with my clumsy self spilling red wine all over the carpet. The view was extraordinary, the stay relaxing, the breakfast scrumptious, and the hosts hospitable - all in all, I can't wait to go back!

Baywood on the Bay is an excellent place to stay. The room was spacious and very comfortable. I had the room on the woods side but there are rooms with a Bay view and with an individual deck. The location was on a bluff above the Bay with a flight of stairs leading to the beach. The breakfasts each morning were generous and well prepared. The hosts were quite congenial. I will definitely plan to return again.

We complimented the owner, Mike, and he said his goal is "Disney perfect," which I thought was funny because that's where my wife and I went on our honeymoon. Mike is so easy to talk to and loves to chat (especially about the civil war) and readily reccomends some great eateries in town. On that note I have to hand it to him: I got very sick the second night there from some fish I ate and Mike was very understanding, and went above and beyond the call of duty to take care of me. The views here are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! We spent the evening of our anniversary on the water watching the sunset and it was unbelievable...and romantic. the breakfast food is what you would expect: casseroles, sausage, fruit...but the presentation is wonderful, nautical, and quaint. A lovely place.

Mike and Sharon are delightful Innkeepers - the B&B is beautiful - and the setting is perfect! Had we known, we surely would have extended our stay...... and walked that lovely beach. We have to rate the breakfast as 'one of the best' we've ever had at a B&B.

Locatlon, location, location!! The private beache was the best! The bay is beautiful. The house was pleasant, hosts kind and food adequate. Would definitely stay here again and again.

My husband and I chose this B&B for our honeymoon because of its bay view and quiet environment, we were not disappointed at all. The private beach access was a huge plus, as we took several strolls and enjoyed the peaceful scenery. We would certainly return to the Baywood and can't wait for the next trip!

This was our second stay at the Baywood and we were just as happy this time as our first. Even with a short power-outage during a thunderstorm, it was a beautiful and peaceful place to be. The food was delicious and everyone associated with the Baywood was pleasant and friendly. We look forward to going back!

Thank you Mike & Sharon for making our first experience with a B & B the best ever. Everyone is so warm and friendly and catering to your needs. The house is very charming and spacious. We love the porch with the rocking chairs and the absolute fantastic sunsets. The private beach was wonderful for just lounging or swimming in the warm water. Lets not forget those great breakfasts. Mike, your homemade muffins are outstanding and the spinach quiche was the best I ever tasted. Thank you again for a great time. I HIGHLY recommend your B & B to everyone. Linda & Jack

I was beyond impressed with the quality of accomodations we found at the Baywood. For such a reasonable price - especially when compared with some of the other B&B's in the area - you get an intimate B&B experience, private beach, and in our case, a charming room with a terrace overlooking the Chesapeake. Breakfast was delicious and the owners were eager to share the history and culture of the Eastern Shore. Cannot recommend enough; we will be back.

We had a fine three nights at The Baywood. My expectations for any place that we stay are always high, and The Baywood met ALL those expectations, with service rated as exceeded. Mike is a great host, and Robin (the housekeeper/cook/etc.) was delightful. I most certainly would highly recommend The Baywood, and when we return to the Eastern Shore of Virginia we'll stay here.
5 on August 17, 2011
My girlfriend and I have stayed here 3 years running for a week at a time, and will stay no where else when we go to Virginia. The house is amazing, and instantly you fell refreshed and relaxed when you walk onto the rear porch and see the amazing view of the Chesapeake Bay. Mike and Sharon have a wonderful breakfast prepared. Everything from wonderful muffins, to delicious, filling casseroles. And the fruit shells are a wonderful complement every morning. We stayed in the Cape Charles Room, and the views only get better. A nice walk-out deck compliments the spacious bedroom/living area. The walk in closet is rather large, as is the bathroom, with its large tub, and separate shower. A minutes walk to the beach will allow you to bask in the sun, watch the crabs walk the sandy surface, and take in a good book (which I completed!). Nice restaraunts in the area include Kelly's Pub, Aqua (Great Wines, and beautiful way to watch an East Coast Sunset), and Sting Ray's (Seafood, and home cooking.) When we go on vacation again, hopefully before next year, this is the only place on our minds. The Baywood. - Keith and Jamie

We needed a place to spend the night, and there are very few quality motels in this area. I enjoyed walking the beach in the morning. Breakfast was very good. The room was large, but the bed was not as firm as I like my bed. I would stay here again and recommend it to any one that wants to get away and have some peace and quite.

The Baywood is a small B&B that overlooks Chesapeake Bay. We stayed there en route to the OBX and enjoyed it. The room was very comfortable, the hosts charming, and the breakfast was hearty and delicious.

The staff was extremely friendly. The private beach was truly incredible. We can't wait to go back.

I spent two nights at Baywood with my 13 year-old daughter. We were enjoying Virginia's eastern shore for a day before the Chincoteague "Pony Swim". Baywood was lovely, clean, and easy to find. We enjoyed the beach in nearby Cape Charles (a very charming town) and enjoyed Baywood's private beach on the Chesapeake Bay, where we walked and collected shells. The hosts were oh-so-accomodating: On our day of departure, we had to check out by 5:00 am. Our host arose early and baked muffins at 4:30 just so we'd have some breakfast to go! It doesn't get much more accomodating than that! Baywood is very easy to find, as it's the first road (and residence) after crossing the Bay Bridge/Tunnel from Norfolk. I'd love to pay a return visit and highly recommend it!

My wife and I stayed one night at The Baywood in July 2011. Every aspect of our stay was terrific. We went for two long walks on the beach and never encountered another soul. Our room was impeccably clean and had a balcony with an amazing view of the Chesapeake Bay. Breakfast on the porch was fresh and delicious. The owners were friendly and helpful, even accommodating my special dietary requests. I couldn't recommend this B&B more highly! We will be back!

When my boyfriend and I first arrived at the Baywood, we were in awe of the views; the pictures simply do not do it justice. The private beach was great and the room was perfect. The breakfast was amazing, the muffins are spectacular. Mike and Sharon are so kind and make every effort to make your stay the best possible; I would whole-heartedly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone!

We booked the Baywood for my 55th birthday for a two night stay. I phoned ahead to say that I had been ill and mught not make it. We did arrive as planned. However, I became very ill when we arrived. We cut our stay to one night and were not charged for the second night. Observations on the short stay: Beautiful setting, quiet, clean, friendly but not overly so. Will definitely go back for longer stay.

We visited Cape Charles and the Eastern Shore of Virginia... found the Baywood B&B and had a beautiful, sparkling clean room on the Chesapeake Bay with wonderful owners that greeted us at the door! Cape Charles is a quaint little town with a boat dock and harbor... Gorgeous sunsets and a great beach right outside our room!

We had the pleasure of staying at the Baywood for three nights. Mike and Sharon are perfect hosts. The place was clean, the food was terrific and the location was incredible. Private beach -what more could you want. Very easy to find. You could just spend the day there and relax or explore the peninsula. We will definitely go back and have already recommended it to several of our friends. You can't go wrong staying here.

After the hustle and headaches of a busy wedding week, the Baywood B & B offered my new bride and I a relaxing escape from it all and a memorable honeymoon. The peace and quiet coupled with the warm and unending hospitality made for an enjoyable stay. Not to mention the breakfast every morning was filling and a great way to start any day. If you're looking for a slow-paced, relaxing time, book now and get ready to kick back on the beautiful eastern shore of VA.

This was our first B&B experience. We loved the accommodations, and the dining. The suite was roomy and comfortable, with our own balcony overlooking the bay. The private beach was perfect. The owners were friendly, but respectful of our privacy. Five stars! Baywood is THE place to stay on Eastern Shore!

I was looking for a private place on the beach and boy, did I ever find it! The Lighthouse room was wonderfully spaceous and the views are excellent. Lots of big soft towels, a dispenser in the shower for shampoo, conditioner, etc, and very attentive host and hostess. Mike, Sharon, and Rachel were all very friendly and helpful wanting to make sure our stay was pleasurable. Even the resident cat, Mash, joined us in the evenings to watch the sunsets. I got to walk a mile and a half on the beach and didn't see another person. I had the whole place to myself. Going out to eat will be a little drive, but there are some nice places within 8 miles. And if you have Celiac Disease, they can accomodate your needs, both at the inn and a couple of the restaurants we tried out. We will be returning in the fall and possibly for our 10th anniversary.

The Baywood is beautiful, very clean and has a serenity to it that made my husband and I immediately feel relaxed and at home. The rooms are spacious and comfortable (ahhhh....) and the service and attention was genuine and gracious. This was our first time staying at a B&B and it was wonderful! We will be renting the Baywood for an entire weekend during our son's wedding and can't wait to share the experience with my parents and the minister and his wife. We know it will be a refuge of peace for us at the end of each day. Great service, comfortable, clean and peaceful -- now that makes for a great place to stay!

Our stay at the Baywood couldn't have been any better. The house is beautiful, owners are welcoming and attentive, our room was lovely and the setting is spectacular! Stress just melts away as you sit on the balcony or on the lawn and look out over the bay. Can't wait to go back!

We did not get to stay long but we were impressed with how clean the Baywood B&B was and also Sharon and Mike were very friendly too. I highly recommend this palce to stay when visiting Cape Charles. Carolina to stay here. Mike and Sharon are always very welcoming , we had to leave early the next morning so could not stay for breakfast , but Mike had packed some of the delicious Baywood muffins for our trip. We are so happy to have discovered this B&B. The rooms are spacious, everything is clean. Absolutely love the way the place is decorated along with the little touches in the room. Mike, Sharon, and the rest of their family and staff are the nicest people. If you need to know anything about the Eastern shore-just ask! We even looked forward to our daily visit from Mash ( resident kitty) ! The Baywood is the most beautiful, serene Bed and Breakfast we have ever stayed at. Mike and Sharon made us feel like very special guests in their "home" Our morning began with a wonderful breakfast and friendly conversation. We were passing through the Eastern Shore on our way to Cape May NJ to attend our grandson's graduation from "boot camp" at the Coast Guard Training Center. We selected the Baywood sight unseen and found it to be one of the nicest B&B's we have ever used. The view was outstanding.

This is the third time I've stayed at the Baywood and am planning to return next month. It's an excellent stopover on my way to my house in the Outer Banks when I don't want to complete the 9-hour drive! We did a nice walk on the beach & hung-out overlooking the bay. the Baywood's cat hung with us and was very entertaining. our room had a balcony and the sunset was spectacular. Best choice for a B&B we could have made. Breakfast was very good ,but not over the top. Plan to make it a continual event when we drive north.

The house and location were very good. However, the breakfast was not the total goumet style I was expecting. I've stayed in only a 2 other B&B's and the breakfast was gourmet grade. The breakfast was good, but just not what I was expecting from prior B&B experience. This may not be a fair judgement then, but just providing my honest opinion.

I enjoyed my stay so much that I can't wait to do it again. My room was spacious, with a sitting area and a walk-in closet. The bathroom was huge with a big tub and separate shower. Really great B&B in a wonderful spot just overlooking the water. We stayed there three nights and enjoyed our entire stay. The high points for me were the private beach connected to the property -- totally secluded, great beach-combing, very romantic walks-- the spacious room with nice bathroom and a large deck overlooking the water. Also, the proprietors were very friendly and down to earth. It's an amazing property that the owners have really put a lot of time and effort into making the perfect dream B&B. Breakfast was great -- ask for the spinach quiche or the Ole Casserole. They let us keep our 3.5 lb dog there too, which was a definite bonus. One last random thing I love about the Baywood was the entertaining and gregarious orange tabbycat, Mash. The Baywood is close enough to Chincoteague to take a nice day trip and avoid the commercialized town of Chincoteague while still getting to see the ponies. Highly recommended!

Owner was friendly and easy going, thus making you comfortable from the beginning. Baywood was very clean, very neat, exceptional linens, large bathroom and bedroom, comfortable accommodations. This facility sits right on the Chesapeake Bay with a private beach and quiet, relaxing atmosphere. It was our first B&B experience and will definitely trying it again based on this experience.

As they say in real estate, location is everything. So too in bed and breakfasts. This inn's location is amazing. It sits on a bluff overlooking the Chesapeake Bay right above the Chesapeake Bay bridge/tunnel. We arrived at the inn on a beautiful evening with enough time to take a stroll on the private beach. We were rewarded with an incredible sunset. The inn is as great as the location. Mike, the owner, settled us into our room and was very friendly and inviting. The room was spacious and comfortable. It had a porch looking out towards the bay, so we sat outside and took in the last of the sunset and watched the bats swooping by. Breakfast is served at 8:30 and was simple but delicious especially the homemade muffins. There is a very comfy living room with a TV that guests are invited to use. This is a perfect place to stay if you are looking for a little rest and relaxation.

I wasn't sure what to expect but it was a nice setting with great views and access to the beach. There is a slight drive to any other diing but I assume you are there to get away like I was. I would reccomend it and if possible go for the extra coast fo the ocen side rooms with the balcony and view of sea.

The location was wonderful. It was very quiet and private with a great view of the bay and what looked like a nice beach. (It was March, so we didn't use the beach.) The B&B is more simply furnished than many, but comfortable. We stayed in the light house room. It was large, extremely comfortable, very clean and had a wonderful view. Breakfast was fruit, scrambled eggs, sausage, and a large muffin - perfectly adequate but nothing special. But then again, it was also a very reasonable price. The owners were very friendly. We would definitely stay there again.

The Baywood was a wonderful getaway. Mike and Sharon were very sweet, always there to give us whatever we needed. They are one of the only b&b's that have a beach you can walk to in less than a minute. The room was very clean which i loved. Breakfast was big, yummy too. We weren't bothered at all. It was great to get away from all the hustle and bustle and just relax. Not to much shopping around the areas but great restaurants!

My fiancee and I spent the night here to get away from everything. From the moment we walked in it felt like we were visiting an old friend's house. We braved the cold to watch the sunset on the private beach and it was well worth it. Everything was clean and comfortable. I'm a picky eater and the breakfast was delicious. Sharon even made me some more food after she noticed my above average apetite. I would gladly stay again and recommend it to people visiting the area.

We stayed at the Baywood for a few nights, the week of Christmas, and had a great time! Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly cat named Mash. The inn was exquisitely clean and welcoming, decorated for the season. Loved the decor and how new the overall property was. We stayed in the Lighthouse room, which had it's own private balcony. Would have been nice to spend some time to enjoy it, if the weather were better. The view of the bay from the back of the house was absolutely breathtaking. Although, it's December, the walk a long the private beach was fantastic! Lots of shells and plenty of privacy. My only small issue was having to pay the toll multiple times while crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. If you don't plan on a lot of back and forth travel, it's the best B&B you could ask for. Thanks so much for such a wonderful first B&B experience!

This was our first time stay at a B&B and we were kind of apprehensive. It turned out Mike & Sharon were great hosts the location was absolutely awesome being on the Chesapeake Bay near all kinds of historical places to see with many outdoor activities. We stayed two days it was truly romantic and within a few minutes’ drive to some really interesting towns and places we visited. The breakfast was very good and use of the common areas nice. We were able to watch football, have internet access, and meet other guest. Out of all the other B&B we looked at in the area this was defiantly an excellent choice! We can’t say enough good things, truly a gem and recommend to anyone considering a stay on the eastern shore area. Dallas & Susan

Robin, Mike and Sharon, We had such a wonderful time at your home. As stated it is so super clean, Robin sure works hard and does a great job for you. I so much enjoyed spending time with her while she made the breakfast. She madew us feel at home as did mike when we spent the evening with him watching Hell's Kitchen. We had bought a take ut dinner at sting Rays and had hoped to eat out on the back porch however the winds were to strong, so we ate inside and talked with mike for some time. Our room was the lighthouse room, It had a full bathroom with deep soaking tub with wonderful bath tolietries. The room also has a wonderful and comfortable queen size bed. 2 recliners which look out the balcony to the millon dollar view of the bay. We spent out the day on the private beach and fished, and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. The step to the beach are steep, however I was able to make them and only had knee surgery 3 week before. enjoyed our very short visit, but will be back. they have a small hot tub outside so come prepared.

The rooms are very spacious. We stayed in the lighthouse room. Coffee was hot and ready before we woke up on a cart just outside our door. Breakfast was very good, had variety. The Baywood muffins are excellent! We got good advice on dining, the "to do's" in the area, which made our 3 day trip eventful, but relaxing. I look forward to our next stay already!

For my vacation, a mother-daughter getaway to the beach, I had a dream to find an affordable, elegant B&B, away from the crowds, so we could enjoy time at the beach and indulge in a little luxury. I hadn't had a vacation in so many years I can't even remember when! At Baywood, we found that and much more. Just pulling into the lane when we arrived, I could tell I had found the peace and tranquility I was looking for. The B&B is nestled beyond a natural, meandering, tree-lined lane that elicited our oohs and ahhs, especially when the fountain and house came into view. We stayed in one of the Woods View rooms. The decor was modern, the room supremely clean and nicely furnished. The queen bed had to be the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The steps down to the beach are a little steep so use the handrail for extra support if needed. Our first evening, after multiple ventures on the private beach, observing the wildlife, being entertained by the scurrying crabs, picnicking and collecting shells, and relishing the gorgeous sunset over the water, I decided to inquire about staying an extra night. My daughter and I didn't want to leave! I liked how the hosts respected our desire for quiet and privacy, yet gave the feeling of being with family, warm and welcoming, accomodating and available. The quiche for breakfast, bacon, muffins, and fresh fruit sides, was superb! We will definitely return for a longer stay and recommend Baywood to friends and family. It's great to be able to fulfill a dream! Thanks Baywood for helping to do so! We're looking forward to visiting again!

The location is beautiful, just by entering the driveway and meandering through the trees made us feel like we were miles away from home-even though we live on the Eastern Shore. The owner greeted us and was attentive from the time we arrived until we left. The morning coffee was delicious and breakfast was as well. We would recommend this B&B to any and all of our friends! Oh-be sure to bring your swimsuits-which we did not-there is a hot tub and you can go swimming in the bay!

I stayed here in June 2009 as a side trip while in Virginia for a wedding (to get away from all the crazies in my family). This was a first experience in a B&B and I really didn't know what I was getting into, but I wanted to try something new. I made my reservation and was called soon afterward to confirm it and was given directions (spot on, I might add, for someone unfamiliar with the Eastern Shore). When I arrived in Norfolk, my luggage was lost and I had to have it delivered (so I thought). When I pulled up, Mike came out and greeted me by name, showed me my room, codes, facilities, etc., and told me to make myself at home. He even recommended a good seafood restaurant in Cape Charles (hey, I'm on the ocean, I'm getting seafood). They treated me like family, or a good family friend, even though they had just met me. They were more than happy to wait for my luggage, or make arrangements to allow me to enjoy myself while my luggage found its way to the B&B. There was a spectacular sunset and the place was very quiet. My bed was comfy and there was a wonderful quiche breakfast (with sausage and fresh fruit on the side). I don't get treated that well at home! My luggage never arrived (it made it to Norfolk, but the delivery folks couldn't get in touch with me because I had no cell phone coverage there and they didn't get the message to call me at the B&B). I didn't have a view of the bay from my room (those had already been booked up), but that didn't take from the experience, since I was able to sit outside on the cliff and watch the sun set over the bay. I don't think there was a bad room in the place. I even had a good breakfast conversation with Mike & Sharon, and a couple of other guests, while sitting outside overlooking the bay. The only downside was the spotty cell phone coverage, but that's part of the charm. :) What a wonderful relaxing time before everything got crazy with the wedding. I hope to be able to stay there again!

Wonderful find for a B and B: quiet and secluded; fabulous views of the Chesapeake from second story rooms (with large private balconies for enjoying sunsets); home is new and designed for B and B guests in mind, with four bedrooms upstairs (two with water views, two with woods views) -- private; delicious home-cooked full breakfasts; great for proximity to wildlife preserve and state park -- kayaking, birdwatching, bike riding, etc.; warm and welcoming hosts who honor guests' privacy and yet are there to help with questions, recommendations, etc. Excellent value. WiFi available for "working away from home."

We had a great time at Baywood. My husband was on two weeks leave from duty in Iraq and this was the perfect little gettaway. It was so peaceful and quiet. Our hosts were very hospitable without being intrusive. Morning coffee on the balcony overlooking the water and wildlife was an amazing way to start the day. We would definately recommend Baywood to family and friends. Thanks Baywood!

I stayed at The Baywood in April 2009 and had the Cape Charles room. Lovely, spacious, and clean with a large balcony that looked over the property's backyard out onto the Chesapeake Bay. The Baywood is a special place owned and managed by special people; a warm and welcoming family.

My husband and i had a lovely time at Baywood. Initially we had thought of spending most of our time at Virginia Beach but after coming to this place we just didn't feel like leaving. Mike and Sharon are great hosts and Sharon's muffins were simply superb.

We stayed for one night on our way to the Outer Banks , we stayed in the Lighthouse room what a view of the bay , our friends stayed in the Woods view room , rooms were beautiful and clean . Felt very comfortable the moment we entered the home , we spend the evening with Rachel and Josh (hosts) on the deck watching the lightning and Oscar the cat. Breakfast was great , cannot say enough and will definatley be going back . This was a great spot to stop after a long drive from New York just before the Bridge .

This was our 1st stay at a Bed & Breakfast and it was perfect. The house is brand new, the rooms are large and well furnished, the bathroom is huge and has a whirlpool bath and shower. The bay view rooms overlook the ocean. Sharon is a wonderful host and you feel at home. This place is awesome ! Thanks Sharon and see you in October

My stay at the Baywood exceeded my expectations. The house is new construction, with a décor that is refreshingly simple and crisp, yet still warmly inviting. Each time I looked out the doors leading to my comfortable deck, I enjoyed a relaxing view of the bay. Unfortunately, it rained pretty much the entire duration of my stay, so my plans to meander along the beach and hike nearby trails were scuttled. The owner’s hospitality made up for the weather: she manages to balance respecting your privacy with providing intelligent conversation and suggestions for places to go. If you’re so inclined, she has an extensive DVD movie collection to while away an afternoon. If I’m ever in Cape Charles again, this B&B will definitely be my choice.

I wanted to surprise my g/f to a B&B getaway for the weekend but 15 mins before we got there she figured it out.We were both excited, especially her. The weather was rainy but we made the best of it and love everything about the house. We felt so welcomed when we showed up and the view from the room is amazing. We will go back again to see the sunset and would recommend to anyone that just wants to relax and getaway. Thank you Sharon & Oscar. (Oscar is a cat btw and will walk with you on the beach just like a dog would) hehe he is so funny.

My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Baywood. The home was almost new and if waves lapping on the shore of a private beach and an atmosphere that makes you feel welcome whether you stay in your room and spend quality time with your spouse or come and experience the hospitality of your host appeals to you try the Baywood you will be glad you did.

My wife and I had a very relaxing weekend at the Baywood. The rooms were very comfortable, including the bed. They have a great view of the Chesapeake Bay and a private beach. The breakfasts were fantastic and healthy. If we make it back to the Eastern Shore of Va. we will be visiting Karen and the Baywood again. Thanks for a great weekend.

This place is wonderful! And, the best part it is brand new. Everything is crisp and clean. Beautiful views, wonderful sunset, great hospitality, scrumptous breakfast. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. One of the best B & B's yet.

We ventured through the short winding trail at the southern end of Latimers Bluff Road, and were richly rewarded for it. The Baywood is located near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, which made it convenient for us to visit friends in Virginia Beach, yet it was secluded enough from Route 13 to make it the perfect place to escape from the world. A short walk down the stairway in the back yard took us to a private beach on the Chesapeake Bay, which we shared with only the crabs (fiddler, horseshoe, and blue). The Lighthouse Room, where we stayed, was spacious and lovely. Best of all was Sharon and her daughter, Rachel, who very quickly after our arrival seemed like old friends. The breakfasts they provided were satisfying without feeling heavy (Alex’s favorite was the Eggs Benedict, but all of the breakfasts were delightful), and Sharon and Rachel went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Our one regret was that we never made it back to the Baywood in time to enjoy what must have been spectacular sunsets on the Bay, but perhaps that will be for our next visit...
