Amazing B&B experience. The room was lovely and quite clean. The breakfast was really delicious. Kathleen the housekeeper was really nice and welcoming. Great visit--would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in VT!

Very cute inn. The sister who was filling in for the owner was outstanding as a host. My only issue is that these homes are not built for the heat and humidity that has now invaded the northeast summers so many are forced to put in window a/c units and the window air units allow the outside in as they are not a perfect fir for the old windows. It was not a huge deal but my daughter made a comment that we would have had less bugs if we had been camping and had screens on the windows and doors. It wasn't horrible but some may find moths and grasshoppers not great room mates. The breakfast was more than enough to get us on our way.

1824 House Inn sits on a lovely, rustic spot with abundant flowers and the classic mountainous VT views. It is a 15-minute drive from Waterbury, where we were able to easily find restaurants for mid/late evening dining. The Inn has all the charm of an historic farm house, yet is also comfortable with well-appointed rooms. Check-in was easy and flexible, breakfast was delicious and nicely presented. Our room was small, but well-priced and completely adequate. Would definitely stay again.

The Innkeeper, Kathy made delicious breakfasts for us. I have celiac disease and follow a gluten free diet. The second day that we were there, she made delicious, fluffy gluten free pancakes. She also gave us good advice on where to hike.

Wonderful step back in time as you wonder through this old farmhouse. Fun to hear a little of its history. The grounds were beautiful and relaxing to wonder around enjoying the sun and flowers. The innkeeper had a lot of suggestions on places to see and local places to eat. The breakfast was great - even got a recipe to take home!!!! The bed was comfortable and the linens and towels were good quality (a big thing for me). We really enjoyed our stay.

We just returned from a weekend at the 1824 House and we loved everything about it. The Inn Keepers are so gracious and generous. The inn itself is spotless and beautiful. Our room had a simple elegance that was just perfect. We were treated to mouth-watering breakfasts - maple scones, farm fresh eggs and bacon, and scrumptious pumpkin pancakes. After a day of skiing we were greeted with homemade chocolate chip cookies that we enjoyed relaxing in the living room in front of a roaring fire. We will definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our 3-night stay at this delightful B&B. The room was cozy and comfortable (with a down comforter fluffed every night!). The whole inn was lovely - well decorated with antiques, very clean, with large common spaces and a guest fridge. It felt like I was staying at a friend's home, who is also an excellent cook and decorator, and even has warm cookies waiting for you when you arrive. Which brings me to Emily, the innkeeper. She is absolutely wonderful - accommodating, friendly, helpful, and INCREDIBLY thoughtful. She's an excellent cook as well, her breakfasts are delicious. The grounds of the inn are really beautiful, too, with great views. There is a terrific barn on the property that Emily uses to host catered events. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Visited for a wedding & were so pleased. Gorgeous property, comfy rooms & great innkeeper. We won't go anywhere else when we return to Vermont.

We stay at a lot of B&Bs, and never have we felt so comfortable. We spent time in the beautiful living room chatting with the young, funny, and delightful innkeeper. The road noise in the A.M. was the only drawback.

If you're staying in the Mad Valley, you really must stay at the 1824 house. We recently stayed two nights at the 1824 House, and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. The young innkeeper, Emily, welcomed us with fresh baked cookies and a cheerful smile. The room was tastefully appointed (unlike many places, it didn't feel like Grandma's house), quiet, and clean. We at dinner both nights at the on-site restaurant, The Barn Door. If you stay here, you have to eat here (the steak is amazing). Emily's breakfasts were as good as The Barn Door's dinners. She was also very responsive to our dietary restrictions. We couldn't have been more pleased!
