Perfect in Every Way

4.8 on June 30, 2018

A great location for visiting Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, plantations and other attractions in area. Liberty Rose is very quiet, with beautiful rooms and common areas. Sandi and Mike are excellent hosts. They make you feel truly welcome , and are very helpful for any needs you may have. The breakfasts were delicious and different on each of the two mornings we were there. We highly recommend Liberty Rose and will stay there again when in the area.

Cozy, comfortable, and great location!

Incredible Bed & Breakfast!!

Our stay at the Liberty Rose was far superior to our expectations! The service was fantastic, the rooms clean and very welcoming, the decorations were phenomenal, every breakfast was slightly different and scrumptious, and our hostess was very nice and went up and beyond to help us feel welcome. We would definitely suggest checking out this fantastic Bed & Breakfast for your next stay in the area!

A whimsical escape

4.6 on December 17, 2017

My wife and I stayed here the weekend after Thanksgiving and had the most whimsical weekend. We were much in need of couple time and the Liberty Rose provided absolutely everything we needed. Minus a hiccup with the heating on the first night, we hadn't a single complaint. The food was amazing. I chose the package for dinner on Saturday night and in-room breakfast both mornings. We were greeted with coffee service, then a gourmet breakfast both mornings. The innkeeper, Allison, was amazing. On our second evening we were the only guests and the chef made a five or six course Italian style meal just for us. His style was so unique and one course had me reeling back to my childhood. We will absolutely stay here again. By the end of the weekend Allison and the owners had us feeling like old friends! My wife and I had exactly the weekend we needed to renew ourselves and reconnect together. We're still smiling! I can't imagine having had a better experience anywhere else. One thing we will do on our next visit is book a different room. Not a complaint about the one we stayed in, but each room is so unique in style, we're excited to try them all!

Couldn't of asked for a better quick getaway honeymoon.

5 on November 21, 2017

My wife and I decided to take a quick honeymoon to the liberty rose where we showed up a little late and it was dark out. Still greater with a nice letter saying everything was setup and ready to go. Everything was clean and very relaxing. My wife and I really enjoyed it. Kind of a nice spin on the normal living situation. Our breakfast was hand down one of the best I've ever had. We couldn't of asked for more. Highly recommend this B&B.

No One Home

2.0 on November 10, 2017

Never encountered any of the owners/hosts until the morning of checkout. No one greeted us on arrival. No one was around to receive our room key on departure. Just left it on breakfast dining table. The property was unlocked, appeared neglected and largely unattended. On Saturday night, no outdoor lights were on and the place had the look and feel of a haunted house. Had I desired only a guest room, could have checked into the local Holiday Inn or Marriott at less cost. With the principals away, the B&B experience was totally lacking. In short, our visit was extremely disappointing. Recommend staying elsewhere.

Innkeeper Response
We gave the above guests a full refund which was far beyond the industry standard for the type of complaints they had even after we explained the unexpected family crisis we were dealing with. We agreed that this kind of costly refund was necessary to avoid an unfair review. Apparently it was not. Anyone studying our reviews and stellar history of service can understand what our standards are and, hopefully, that when you are fully refunded the cost of your stay you refrain from trashing an establishment with an impecable 5 star history. We love all of our guests but this seems to be a couple better suited for Marriott or Holiday Inn. Bed and Breakfasts are small family run intimate hospitality institutions. Guests love feeling a part of that experience because it’s not the clinical environment of a chain.

Beautiful but absent host

3.0 on November 05, 2017

From the website photos I knew that the Liberty Rose would be exceptionally beautiful and it was. The whole place (and we had the run of the place as no one else was there and all the rooms were unlocked) was filled with fun period antiques and the garden was exquisite. While it was nice to be the only guests, as it was totally quiet and my husband and I spent one whole evening in the living room chatting in front of the fire, the owner/manager of the place was also absent. There was a young woman handling everything and she got breakfast (nice food) on the table, but she was clearly not interested in being a "host". We had to rummage around in random hall closets to find toilet paper and that sort of thing. Not only was the owner absent, but before and during the stay I left a lot of phone and text messages with questions and it would be days (or never) before I'd hear back from her. Maybe she was having some kind of family emergency and had a good excuse, but that would have been good to know. All that said, we were delighted with the inn itself and I suspect that the owner is usually more available and the experience wouldn't have been so weird.

Innkeeper Response
As a family run business with a family crisis under way we had to quickly respond to booked rooms and hoped that we had covered ourselves well enough to maintain the absolutely flawless record of hospitality we are known for. When you run a family business it’s tricky to decide what dirty laundry should be in full view of your paying guests and what’s not. But we are thrilled that you had a reasonably lovely albeit weird stay. The good news is that we have been able to respond to this unexpected and debilitating moment and are delighting guests daily now. Please contact us directly as we would be happy to offer you a gift certificate for a future stay as our way of acknowledging that due to this crisis your stay was not as perfect as we strive for. Blessings.

Signature Dish

Argentine-French Toast
This french toast is made with Asiago Sourdough boule. We use fresh local farmed eggs and cream. After pan frying the toast a generous amount of our secret apple-orange chutney is heaped on top and then a dollop of fresh whipped cream infused with real vanilla bean. It is just one of many signature dishes that are served at the Liberty Rose Breakfast
