Minutes for Colonial Williamsburg

4.4 on October 26, 2017

We stayed 3 nights in the Primrose room which is the room that faces the front of the home. It was immaculate and very roomy with a Queen bed, 2 closets, plenty of lighting and a ceiling fan. It also had a "fireplace" which was decorative but had a burner for some ambiance that worked nicely. The attached bathroom had a roomy shower and had everything one could need. Elizabeth the innkeeper was fantastic and her breakfasts were delicious as well as filling. She was very helpful with guiding us to Colonial Williamsburg and information around the area. Overall the inn was wonderful and a good value. If one thing could be suggested, the road in front is quite busy so if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs or a sound machine.

My husband stayed at Colonial Gardens the week of June 26th. This was our second visit. What a great place to stay! It is beautiful, quiet, clean, private. Elizabeth was great also. Our breakfast every morning was excellent and we always had pleasant company. It is very close to Colonial Williamsburg. We will surely be back again!

Beautiful - Would Recommend

Wonderful stay overall. Clean, quiet, wonderful hostess. We got in late and everyone was very accommodating and flexible. We stayed in the Rhododendron, which was lovely and very spacious. Very close to the downtown shopping and restaurants, so it was very convenient. Food was consistently good and there were drinks and snacks stocked at all times too. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely B&B near Williamsburg

3.4 on May 03, 2016

The room and premises were lovely and quiet, but breakfast was a disappointment. There was no milk available when I came down for early coffee. Our breakfast plates were delayed and the egg dishes had not finished cooking. I expected better.

Innkeeper Response
I am so glad you found our B&B clean and comfortable. I am however disturbed that your breakfast was delayed in coming out and that you found no milk in the guest refrigerator in the morning. I will look into it and make necessary adjustments. Please come back and try us again.

Wonderfully Peaceful Experience

5 on February 12, 2016

My wife and I wanted to take a quiet weekend in celebration of her pending 30th birthday and Colonial Gardens came highly recommended. Joy was an absolute pleasure to be around and went above and beyond what is expected to make sure we had everything we needed. The house is incredibly well done and very well maintained. The atmosphere is happy and relaxed and you can tell a lot of thought has been put into everything. Joy is an amazing chef and each breakfast item was expertly and lovingly crafted. Easily some of the best breakfast items we've ever tasted. The food is plated incredibly well and the surrounding and ambiance is top notch ( huge kudos for the big band and Sinatra music backdrop! ). This was our first B&B experience and my wife and I were a little skeptical at first. Colonial Gardens has easily won us over to the B&B side and we are all ready planning our next visit!

A Cozy & Inviting retreat for a great value!

Perfect Spot for an Anniversary Weekend

5 on August 14, 2015

My wife and I stayed at the Colonial Gardens for our one year anniversary. We were completely satisfied with our stay. Joy, the innkeeper, was great. She went above and beyond to make our weekend special. Breakfast was both delicious and meticulously presented. The location is convenient to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, the Williamsburg Winery, as well as great places to go have lunch or dinner. We highly recommend Colonial Gardens for your weekend getaway!

Innkeeper Response

Joy was incredible! The breakfast was wry delicious. The place is very welcoming, calm, and peaceful. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and we enjoyed every moment there. There was a power outage; however, Joy made it soo delightful by lightening the sexy candles, making sure the guest were ok. Joy was awesome and she should not have been left there to fend for everyone when there was a generator there. Joy was incredible and we will be back! I recommend this stay to everyone. Joy knew the town and gave great recommendations. She found a store for us in our city to purchase an item that was in Williamsburg. Simply great customer service. See you next time Joy!!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you so much for our kind review! We are so glad that you enjoyed everything including the candles when the lights went out. Joy truly is a gem and we know it! Rest assured that she was fully capable of handling the 4 hour power outage and the back up generator has been fixed. We are the only B&B in Williamsburg that has one and in 12 years it has never failed before. Hope to see you again in the future and congratulations on your marriage!

Weekend Getaway

5 on June 05, 2015

My wife and I were looking for a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary and we booked the Colonial Gardens because of price and proximity to Williamsburg. We really enjoyed out stay and Joy (who was our innkeeper) was great/. She was always there when we had questions and she got us comfortable with the Williamsburg area. The breakfast she had every morning was delicious (especially the croissants) and our room was really nice and spacious. I even wanted to make our anniversary more special and Karen the owner had made some recommendations and my wife was surprised with beautiful flowers, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. It was a great weekend and I recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone who is looking for good value and looking to make great memories!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you so much for your kind review! I am so glad that it turned out just the way you wanted it to. And what lady does not like roses and chocolate covered strawberries! Happy anniversary and please come back again sometime. Karen
