Step through our door and walk into a piece of historic Urbanna. Atherston Hall was built in 1880 for a local schooner captain and his family and lovingly restored in 2005 to provide an understated elegance with emphasis on attention to detail. Nestled one block away from the main street and harbour, Atherston Hall is just around the corner from the treats Urbanna has to offer. Four beautifully appointed guest rooms with queen sized luxurious beds, hand pressed linens and soothing decor. Enjoy the peace and beauty of the gardens, featured on the Virginia garden tour, and enjoy tea on one of the porches. Breakfast at Atherston Hall with homemade granola, scones and a delicious cooked dish will get you through your day! We are here to create a unique experience, a welcome retreat from the stresses and strains of everyday living.

As a working professional who travels tens of thousands of miles each year and stays in hotels/inns well over 60 days out of every year as well, I'm always on the lookout for accommodations that appreciate the weary traveler. Atherston Hall met my every expectation - from my charming room to the cozy breakfast nook and relaxing television room - Atherston is decorated to reflect its innkeeper's personal warmth and a sincere interest in making guests feel like family without being forward. For me, a great 'fixture' was Savannah, Atherston's well-mannered Labrador who sat dutifully in the hall while I ate my wonderful breakfast of maple walnut granole, fresh scrambled eggs & bacon and toast with fresh fruit. Her presence made me miss home & my four-legged friend a little less. If you're looking for value without sacrificing comfort, atmosphere and character, I heartily recommend a stay here. I only wish I'd had more time to see the sights and stay more than a day & night.

This stay was for a family reunion and we arrived for afternoon tea - scones and cakes which was great. The accommodation is beautiful with so many little touches and attention to detail. This is agreat place for a family or friends to get together as we were so pleased there were no televisons in the rooms and everyone wanted to be together and chat! Breakfast was a treat with homemade granola, fruit and hot dishes. We would definately return and recommend Atherston Hall to anyone wanting a pleasant break.

Waffles with caramelized bananas
We have been here in Urbanna and have created and tried many breakfast dishes. We have found that guests actually like the more simple breakfast such as a light scrambled egg with bacon, waffles or a full English breakfast. The one dish that is asked for time and again is the waffles with caramelized bananas.......scrumptious!
