Great place to stay! Liz went out of her way to take care of us. First class service and beautiful views. Perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of DC. Will come back.

Fantastic food, peaceful setting

My wife and I stayed for one night in the Fan Room. We had dinner at the Ashby Inn restaurant on site that evening. The dinner was fantastic. We ate on the outside patio. It was mid-April, so it became chilly once the sun went down. But, they had kerosene patio heaters that could be wheeled next to the table which kept us warm. The setting is really peaceful and scenic. All of the food was great. The breakfast the following morning was also really good. The Fan Room is spacious. It has a separate entrance from the rest of the inn. It comes right off of the outdoor dining patio. The view faces the beautiful rolling hills out behind the inn. The room was comfortable, good temperature controls, and the bathroom was modern and nice. We will definitely try to come back, both to stay overnight and enjoy the great restaurant once again.

Fabulous Place to Stay!

Absolutely LOVED our stay at The Ashby Inn. Close to everything in numerous counties in VA. If you enjoy horses and history and great dining, this is a must book!

A return to beautiful Virginia.

We came from California, and met friends who drove from Ohio, for a 2-night stay at the Ashby Inn. We were joined for dinner the first night by a friend who lives in the area and always refers guests to the Ashby. The dinner was spectacular in every way...from presentation, to portions and tastes. The chef was very, very accommodating to my lactose intolerance and made a special dessert for me!Breakfast the next morning was also quite nice! Our room was lovely with a very cozy fireplace. The window shutters could use some work so they close/clasp more efficiently. And the lack of internet and cell phone reception was inconvenient at times as we needed to make further travel plans for when we left the Inn. But overall we were all very satisfied and would consider returning when we come to visit again.

Wonderful!!!

We were visiting Middleburg and the surrounding area after thirty years. The Ashby Inn was the perfect setting for a perfect visit. Nothing disappointing about the Inn or the countryside. The Spring races were a bit wet but the intrepid spectators and good humor was a delight. OH did I mention our dinner at the Ashby? Exceptional!!!!

Anniversary celebration

My husband and I were married in Paris, VA and held our reception at the Ashby Inn 20 years ago. We always stay in the suites in the "School House." A very quaint and romantic B&B for a weekend getaway. The rooms overlook the Paris Mountains.

Exceptional!

Beautiful setting, beautiful room, delicious food. Overall, a wonderful experience. We'll be returning!

Outstanding food, quiet peaceful location

We stayed in the Fan Room at the Ashby Inn. It is a spacious room with its own separate access off of the dining patio. That is a little awkward when going in or out of the room while diners are present on the patio, but it is a very minor point. The room itself was great, and quiet. The food was outstanding, both dinner and the included breakfast. Try the shrimp with grits for breakfast. It is great!

Our 3rd stay, more to come

4.8 on April 13, 2017

This was our third stay at the Ashby Inn. We continue to return for three primary reasons: (1) The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well appointed. We have deliberately stayed in a different room for each visit and enjoyed each of them. (2) The restaurant is superb and is one of the reasons we continue to return. The chef is very talented and keeps the menu fresh with innovative selections. (3) The Ashby Inn is located in possibly the most beautiful rural region in Virginia and is surrounded by vineyards where you can sample their products. We are not wine aficionados so for us, we enjoyed walking through the beautiful rural countryside. The Sky Meadows State Park borders the Ashby Inn and contains numerous walking trails of various difficulty and lengths from easy to difficult. One other item, in February 2017 an apothecary gift shop opened next door to the Ashby Inn. Be sure to visit it, the apothecary is a beautiful place with a tremendous selection of items for sale.

Peace in the foothills of the Blue Ridge

Every detail for a pleasant stay was provided. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open the days I was there. That gives me an excuse to return.
