Great weekend getaway!

4.6 on May 22, 2016

My husband and I stayed at the Inn on Poplar Hill with our dog for the weekend. Our stay was amazing. We utilized the trails on the property, sat by the pond and hung out in the game room playing pool and enjoying the fireplace. It was a very relaxing weekend. The breakfast we had each morning was excellent. We took advantage of the complementary designated driver wine tour provided and had a great time visiting 4 of the local wineries and doing some wine tasting. Our dog was welcome on the tour and in the wineries that had been selected to visit. The innkeepers Marty and Victoria went out of their way to make our stay great. They placed a water dish and treats in the room for our dog and provided information about the surrounding area, so we could plan our outings. We will definitely be making a return trip in the near future. Melanie

A quiet and lovely getaway from the busy city

My husband and I stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary, traveling from Northern Virginia right outside DC. We stayed in the Blue Willow Room, which was beautifully decorated with a 2 person jacuzzi bathtub. Coffee and tea were provided outside our room in the morning. Victoria made delicious 3 course breakfasts. One day I had monkey bread, fruit and shrimp and grits with a poached egg. Another day I had a croissant with chocolate, fruit yogurt and granola, and scrambled eggs, bacon and pumpkin french toast. A game room is provided for your enjoyment with a comfy couch for reading or watching the football games as my husband did. The grounds are lovely and you feel completely removed from the hustle and bustle. Marty and Victoria were excellent hosts with tasting passes for local wineries and recommendations for dinner. Highly recommend for a long weekend getaway particularly during the fall wine tasting season.

Absolutely Perfect

In planning an anniversary get-away, I wanted an older style house and rooms, with fantastic rooms and breakfasts, wonderful hosts, special breakfast dining arrangement by the fireplace, and in proximity to the vinyards we wanted to visit. I found exactly what I was looking for in the Inn on Poplar Hill! We didn't bring our dogs with us (although we could have with certain dog-friendly rooms), but they even had a young puppy and older mature big dog to meet our dog-depravation needs away from ours. I am very happy with our get-away here and am already recommending it to my friends with similar get-away tastes! I hope to visit the Inn again on another trip!

Wonderful Getaway

My husband and I stayed at The Inn on Poplar Hill during a much needed getaway. Marty and Victoria were outstanding hosts and took wonderful care of us during our stay. From the coffee left at our door every morning, the intimate gourmet breakfasts in front of the fire place to the chauffeured winery tour, everything was exactly what we needed. We also took advantage of the on-site massage that was offered and Jim was excellent! Restaurants and pubs were all within easy walking distance....we actually didn't move our car for the two days we were there. We would definitely recommend the beautiful inn!

Thanks for a great weekend

My wife and I needed a short-notice getaway to keep our sanity during an unusually cold mid-Atlantic winter. Luckily they had an opening for us and the short notice was no problem at all. Marty was the right mixture of available & attentive but respected our privacy. They have great info on all the area wine tastings, good recommendations for restaurants, and local events. It was a pretty drive down to Monticello.

Wonderful getaway!

I recently got away for the weekend and did a tour of wineries and had an in-room massage. Marty was SO helpful, figuring out which wineries would have things I might like, arranging for a driver, and providing all the information I would need to have a really spectacular and relaxing time away from my everyday hustle and bustle. Victoria's breakfast is the best and they both really made my time away worth it. They are a great couple and the Inn at Poplar Hill is an excellent value.

My fiance and our little dog had an AMAZING TIME!

This is such a cozy, homey, and inviting get-away! The innkeepers were very hospitable and went the extra mile to make sure we had an amazing time. We will definitely be returning and staying with Marty and Victoria again in the near future!!!

Lovely House and Lovely Innkeepers

My wife and I stayed here for one night in the Rose room. The room and connected bathroom were awesome. We enjoyed privacy, but Marty and Victoria were available if we needed anything. They were extremely hospitable and helped to make our stay very relaxing and fun. The house is awesome and has been restored beautifully. Breakfast was wonderful and kept us full until the afternoon. We are already looking forward to staying here again!

Beautiful Fall Getaway!

We spent the weekend in the Blue Willow room and couldn't have asked for better accommodations or service. Marty and Victoria serve an awesome breakfast and their advice on what to do or see in the area was spot on. We look forward to a return trip but will plan more time to just wander around the property and enjoy its peace and beauty. We left relaxed and rested so the trip was a success!
