The Inn at 400 West High was one of the best discoveries we have made in our travels. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and charming. We enjoyed the terrace garden with friends in the late afternoon and enjoyed a delicious breakfast each morning in the very inviting Gathering Room. The location is ideal and just blocks from the downtown mall with many shops and restaurants to explore. The accommodations at the Inn made for a perfect weekend getaway. We look forward to another enjoyable stay in the near future.

The ambience, friendliness and decor Inn at 400 West High is amazing. The light filled rooms abound in natural and charming comfort. There is attention to detail in the whole property. Self serve coffee, fruits, waters and freshly baked cookies add to the feeling of home. The staff could not be more pleasant and accommodating. This is truly an exceptional bed-and-breakfast.

My wife and I visited on 2/23/17 and stayed in the Ridge Apartment for 2 nights. It was a fantastic experience. The Apartment is spacious with its own kitchen, dining area, extra living space, and spacious porch. The bed was fantastically comfortable and the shower/bath was very luxurious. Regarding Breakfast, Diana was fantastic. She made us her special Espresso Waffles and has now earned the moniker "Wonder Woman" (her name is Diana) with regard to her hospitality and cuisine. In addition, the complimentary 24/7 drinks and cookies and the easy/convenient walk to the downtown mall makes this a place you want to retreat to again. We had other plans for our trip and instead stayed close to enjoy the property and room.

We cannot say enough about our stay at the Inn. From the moment we arrived it was awesome. Carolyn met us, showed us our room and the other amenities. At night we enjoyed sitting in the Gathering Room and back in the morning for our gourmet breakfast. It was great to be only 2 blocks from the downtown mall and a short one hour drive to Short Pump, Richmond. We will definitely be back for the 2016 Holiday!!

I came east to spend a mother-daughter week in DC where my daughter works. She is in a high stress job and I wanted to cap off our week together with a perfect weekend get-away! After some research I settled on the Inn at 400 West High, and did I bat 1,000!! After a fun and scenic drive from DC we approached the lovely Mediterranean Inn that was a picture postcard! Greeted by the lovely and gracious Carolyn, we were gently shown around and to our room, the McIntire, which could have popped right out of the pages of Beautiful Homes & Gardens magazine! We spent a wonderful two days and nights at the Inn. Slept on beds like clouds, ate perfect food, not too heavy, just right to start our days, and spent time taking in the fantastic historic downtown mall which was just a few blocks away! We couldn't have asked for a better end to our mother-daughter vacation and it will be a beautiful memory for us, one we hope to repeat on my future visits to this beautiful side of our country (made especially beautiful because my daughter resides here)! With a stunning rooftop terrace garden overlooking McIntire Road, this room features an exquisitely appointed king bed and a private bathroom with a lovely tiled shower. Including a private entrance leading out onto a peaceful rooftop terrace and a wrought-iron spiral staircase entering an enclosed courtyard, the McIntire Room combines southern charm with the fantasy of staying in a castle turret. Enchantingly light and airy in spring and summer, this room has a working fireplace to keep you warm and toasty when the weather cools.
With its beautiful brick floor, luxurious king bed, and working fireplace, this room is as comfortable as it is chic. Its private terrace includes a sitting area to make it easy to spend time outside listening to the chirping of the birds and enjoying the residential beauty of Altamont Street. Located on the ground floor, the room can be accessed from its private entrance or from the Inn?s central Gathering Room. The private bathroom includes a pedestal sink and a beautiful, large, tiled shower with steam jets, a large rainhead, and a seat.
Named after Preston Street, one of the highways that brings travelers right to the Inn, this collection of elegant rooms includes a luxurious bedroom with a queen size bed and a study with a daybed and trundle. And just off of the study is a bright, cheery sunroom just right for curling up with your favorite book. The comfortable bathroom includes an Italian tiled shower with a large rainhead. With its own private entrance, the Preston Suite makes it easy to come and go as you please, but with a room like this, who wouldn?t want to stay a while?
An executive suite for those who want to stay a while, this apartment is the crowning glory of The Inn at 400 West High and the perfect home away from home for business travelers. Equipped with a full kitchen, including stove and full-sized oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, Cuisinart coffeemaker and coffee press, as well as cooking and dining utensils, this apartment is designed to accommodate those who want to entertain guests with their culinary capabilities or cook homemade meals for their nearest and dearest. A small dining table and chairs make the perfect place for families to come together after a long day at a Shenandoah National Park, a UVA football game, Monticello or a lovely evening out on the downtown mall. Decorated with tasteful hints of aviary flight and fancy, this apartment?s bedroom features a cozy queen-sized bed, wireless Internet, a flat-screen cable television, and a DVD player. Nearby, a combination study-and-sunroom includes a small desk for working, reading, or postcard writing and a full-sized platform bed with coiled mattress that folds out to create extra sleeping space. With French doors opening onto your rooftop garden terrace where a table and chairs await your guests and a good bottle of wine, this room gives visitors a chance to contemplate the picturesque views of southern small city life. But such vistas are, quite frankly, dwarfed by the radiance of a 1921 stained glass window, brought over all the way from Florence, Italy, that elevates this apartment into a work of art. Located in, of all places, the bathroom, this awe-inspiring window is complemented by an arched ceiling with exposed wooden beams and a large, bright luxury shower. This could be your only chance to not only bask but bathe in the presence of such glorious glasswork!
This room is located at the front of the house, just off of the front entrance. Featuring an elegantly appointed queen bed and a large private bathroom with a tiled shower, this room epitomizes old Virginia charm, giving guests a sense of southern elegance and southern comfort.
