Recommended! Beautiful house, delicious breakfast and they think of all the little details

4.8 on October 24, 2016

My wife and I stayed here for one night during a road trip to Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Mountains. Orquida and Dan were super nice and the room was very comfortable and clean. It is a very special house with a beautiful yard and rocking chairs on the balcony. They think on al the little details by offering complementary snacks, homemade cookies, drinks, coffee and tea. They also have snacks and toiletry products waiting inside the room for you. Homemade breakfast was also delicious. It has a good location for traveling in the area and can be a good base for daily trips and hikes. It is pretty close to the road but not too noisy. It is also close to some very good local breweries that offer good beers and food. We would definitely recommend Afton Mountain Bed&Breakfast and would definitely come back :)

Great Getaway!

This was my husband and I's first experience staying in a B&B, and we will definitely do it again after staying here! Orquida and Dan were so friendly and welcoming, and had all information available for local hot spots. Our trip was everything we hoped for in a weekend getaway thanks to Afton Bed and Breakfast!

Delightful Weekend

We vacation with friends and this was our first time trying a B&B. Afton Mountain B&B was exquisite! Orquida and Dan (owners) met us at the door. A lovely welcome to their beautiful home. Orquida gave us a tour and explain the details of every room. She prepared a quick early breakfast for our first day. The second morning we were treated to the most delicious breakfast of apricot stuffed french toast, sausage, juice and coffee. The whole house is beautifully restored to it's 1848 grandness. Our favorite activity was just visiting with our friends while rocking on the front porch. The extra details of fresh cookies and coffee daily. Books detailing each room. A binder of local restaurants to try. Every need was prepared for. They are a lovely couple and we all look forward to our next visit at Afton Mountain B&B.

Delightful experience!

This was my husband's and my first stay in a bed & breakfast, and we couldn't have made a better choice. Orquida and Dan are marvelous hosts. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the whole house is beautifully decorated, the porch is perfect for relaxing, and the breakfasts! Oh my goodness, the breakfasts! They were scrumptious! We will definitely be returning!

A relaxing stay

Wonderful Stay and Service

This is the second time my boyfriend and I have stayed at Afton Mountain B&B, and we always love it! The scenic view is awesome, and the close proximity to wineries makes everything that much easier. The rooms are so cute...and the breakfast is to die for! All the recipes Orquida makes is something you don't want to live without. We will definitely be back in future years as we try to make this trip an annual occurrence. One big thing that set Afton Mountain B&B over the top was that I left my straightener at the B&B and didn't notice until I got home. I called Orquida and Dan and they shipped it back to me with no hassle and no charge to me! That's great service :) I can't thank them enough.

We loved our stay at Afton Mountain Bed & Breakfast. We were there celebrating our 10th anniversary and Orquida and Dan took great care of us! The breakfast was AMAZING and the facilities were wonderful. It was also in the perfect location with lots of places to visit including wineries, farmers markets, breweries, cideries, a distillery, and berry farms. I highly recommend it and can't wait to go back!

We stayed 2 nights when we were in the area for a wedding at Wild Wolf Brewing Company. This is a beautiful part of the country and state! Orquida and Dan were perfect hosts. We stayed in the Shenandoah Room, which is on the first floor. The bed and space were comfortable and the bathroom and room were impeccably clean. They were kind enough to accommodate our gluten-free diet, as well as another guest's food allergies. The food and coffee were excellent; fantastic omelets and waffles, and cookies at bedtime. They take pride in their food and it shows. The location is perfect...very close to many wineries, cideries, breweries, and a couple distilleries...all within less than 20 miles. We had fun hitting some cideries before the wedding (Blue Toad, Bold Rock, Albemarle Ciderworks). We highly recommend staying here and look forward to staying with Orquida and Dan again!

We had a lovely stay at the Afton Mountain Bed and Breakfast, with delicious breakfasts and accommodating hosts. When we weren't out and about exploring the beautiful surrounding areas with endless vineyards, breweries, and mountains to choose from, we enjoyed the pool in the backyard of the B&B. A great escape from city life.

About the innkeepers

We moved to Central Virginia from near Washington, DC in the Summer of 2002. We immediately fell in love with this area, and are constantly delighted by the sights, the activities and the friendliness of the people. We hope you'll enjoy the area as much as we do.
