Very nice place in a fantastic neighborhood on Capitol Hill. 5 minute walk to countless eateries (casual or elegant) on Barracks Row, and also to the metro station, so you can park and stay parked very easily. 5 minute ride on the metro the the Capitol, Mall, Smithsonian, etc.. Nice sitting rooms and sleeping arrangements both with flat screen TV's and an amazing Sonos sound system. Wifi, of course. The hosts are super people, and the breakfasts are exquisite. David is quite the gourmet! If you are looking for a quiet place to stay while you visit our Nation's Capitol the 1921 Gessford is the place for you.

I had a really great stay while on business of Capitol Hill. David and Carol gave me a warm welcome, lovely breakfasts and conversation, and the quirky residence was fun and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

It's not a traditional B&B as you will be using some of the host's living space but there were no privacy issues. We were comfortable, well treated and the breakfasts were good. David was accommodating and interesting to talk with. It's a short walk to the Metro. We used it to get to Gessford from Reagan National Airport and to the Smithsonian area. It's also walking distance through interesting neighborhoods to many of the museums

David and Carol are great hosts. Their home is an Architectural Digest article, and to no surprise, we learned that their beautiful home was featured in the magazine. The decor is unique with colorful and interesting eclectic furnishings throughout. David and Carol served great breakfasts, and were delightful hosts, gracious, pleasant and informative about DC. Having done a b and b at one time, we were asked for suggestions for their b and b, and noted--more space for guests' toiletries and adjusting the closets for more room to hang clothes. In addition, Gessford is quiet, close to many DC attractions, and a place to which we would return when in DC. Gessford is great!!

The B%B at 1921 Gessford was a pleasant surprise. An unusual place--the guest area overlaps with a space used for musical evenings, jam sessions, usually on Sunday nights. Full of instruments of one kind or another, artwork, curiosities. A charming host and hostess, and very enjoyable breakfasts in their company..

We had a great (though too short) time in Washington. David's house is a wonderfully designed space with lots of interesting details and decoration, and we had everything we needed for our stay. David and Carol are lovely hosts: they cooked us a great breakfast, gave us lots of helpful information and were there for a nice chat. (And they even drove us to the station). We would not hesitate to come back.

The house has an excellent structure, it's safe and clean. It is close to a metro station and near the main points of interest of the city. I was very well received by D. and C., very friedly people. They gave me a lot of tips about the city. I strongly recommend!

This was not what we expected at all. However, our host, David, was very helpful and an excellent chef as well as providing us with an interesting stay in Washington. Once we recovered from the surprise at staying in someone else's personal space, albeit with it to ourselves, we really appreciated the unique character of the house and the excellent personal service provided by our host. Altogether, an experience to be treasured and we could thoroughly recommend it to others. Alastair & Lynne

A really big thank to Carol and David who made the stay of my daughter and myself exeptional. We enjoyed everything: the really good breakfast, the live music and the nice moments we spent together. Hope to be there sometimes again. Cédric

The house is amazing! We felt very comfotable. Nice and quiet neighbourhood in Capitol Hill and you can easily walk to the mall from there. Also close: lots of restaurants and some shops in 8th Street. D. was a very nice host, helped us with tips about going out and museums... we had some nice talks. Breakfast was always fresh and delicious. Totally recommended.
The sleeping area of the B&B is located on the first floor, and furnished with a queen sized bed. Guests enjoy the entire first floor which also includes a living room, patio and a private bath.
