We stayed for 3 nights in the Woodland Park room on the first floor (next to the cookie jar and delicious brownies). The room was the perfect size for a romantic weekend away and Shelley has thought of every detail and amenity to make it a comfortable stay. The rooms are extremely clean and well kept, the bathroom was updated and stocked with everything we could need. The closet was also very large which was really nice to keep our bags out of the way. It was a wonderful stay and if we are ever back in Seattle we know where to stay.

I will be staying here again when I travel to Washington. This is so much nicer, cleaner and way more charming than a hotel, which could be more money. The whole place has so much character. The breakfast every morning was just delicious, and so much variety. Shelley is very creative and so welcoming.

We had a wonderful time. The inn is lovely, all the rooms are unique and spotless. Shelley's breakfasts were excellent. Here help with navigating public transportation was spot on. The inn is conveniently located a short stroll from the bus stop.

We enjoyed a 3 night stay during a grey winter period. The Inn was warm and welcoming. Shelley has thought of every detail to make for a delightful stay. We loved the heated bath floor, the generous appointments of the room and its amenities. The smell of breakfast in the kitchen was wonderful; we will visit again.

All we were looking for in a B&B with the finest hospitality. Two blocks to the Route 5 bus to downtown, not far from the 44 into Ballard and the U, and good dining a short walk up Phinney. And Enterprise rental car in Ballard will pick you up and drop you off.

This B&B is not to be missed! We stayed at 9 Cranes Inn when my son was getting married at the Woodland Park Zoo -- so the location was perfect. We absolutely loved our time at 9 Cranes -- the rooms were lovely and comfortable. Shelley's breakfasts were delicious, and she made all of us feel so welcome.

My wife and I spent a week in Seattle and the Olympic National Park recently. We stayed at 9 Cranes Inn for 4 nights while touring Seattle. When we arrived, I noticed the low-key appearance of the inn in a clean and quiet neighborhood. Shelley, the hostess, greeted us as soon as we knocked on the door and gave us a tour of the inn, which appeared to be fully equipped with open spaces, couches, Wi-Fi, refrigerator, and hot coffee and tea. The room, like the rest of the inn, was spotless. The breakfasts, prepared by Shelley every morning from scratch, were unique in their selection, taste, and appearance. My wife was exited to see the different varieties and combinations that we had each time. Shelley was also very knowledgeable and happy to explain to us how, and sometimes why, each dish was prepared. The other guests at the table were also fascinating with stories and experiences beyond our imagination. The inn is just a couple short blocks away from Phinney Ave N, which is packed with small eateries and stores. My wife and I walked from the inn to Green Lake one evening. It took us less than 15 minutes to reach Green Lake. The trail around Green Lake is perfect for walking in the evening and going around the lake took us about an hour. We saw many interesting people and things during that walk, including people boating on the lake and a pack of geese eating grass on a patch right next to the trail. Free parking spaces next to the inn on the street were always available and the surrounding appeared to be a nice residential area with sidewalks. Occasionally we ran into a lady walking with her dog. The area is covered with trees and flowers that reach the windows of the inn. The overall experience with 9 Cranes Inn was pleasant and fun and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Seattle and will consider it for our next trip to Seattle.

...A place as comfortable as it is beautiful. ... Located in a very special part of town. The breakfast and the service are second to none. "Six Stars"!!!
Your climb to the third floor will be well rewarded with a view of the Olympic Mountains from any of three spots: the king-sized bed; your private, roof-top deck; or a giant, jetted tub. On overcast days, you can still glimpse patches of Puget Sound and take in the Ballard neighborhood spread before you. Your private bathroom boasts a shower separate from the tub and two washstands. The room includes a work desk, seating area, and 42-inch flat-screen TV.
Purple, gray, and silver adorn this second-floor bedroom with a king bed and a sitting area that can be made private for late-night reading, desk work, or a third person. There's a bit of a view of the Olympic Mountains and the Ballard neighborhood. The large, private bath sports a tub/shower.

9 Cranes Inn Salmon Scramble
Wild smoked salmon, cream cheese, spinach, and tarragon combine in a pretty scramble that nests in a homemade puff pastry shell. A side of roasted tomatoes, or maybe rosemary potatoes accompany the dish. This, after a first course that is fresh fruit-based. Juice, coffee, tea are also served.
