Love our stay at this wonderful craftsman style home. It has four bedrooms with each a wonderful bath. Mike served us strong coffee and nice hardy breakfast. Help us plan our trip on the Gold Coast, what to see and what restaurant is good. For the price, a gem.

The pride and workmanship the owner took to make this place special definitely shows here. The town of Pacific City is a low-key fishing community, unlike the bustling coastal towns near by.

Pacific City is a small coastal town and Mike, the owner of The Craftsman B&B, has a great place in a small town. We were in the Mackintosh Room on the second floor. The room had a large private bath. We started our evening with a glass of wine under the cherry tree off the side porch of the B&B. Very nice. The bed was comfortable and met our expectations for the style of B&B. Breakfast the next morning was very nice and we enjoyed conversing with the other guests and telling tales and hearing tales of vacation adventures. A very nice experience. Thanks to Mike for a very nice experience.

Lovely place, clean and well decorated. I slept well, but we needed a king size bed which was not available, for my husband. Host was friendly and helpful. I would go back again.

Great stay! Owner is very nice, helpful, and made a great breakfast. A very nice touch was that he made us a to go snack when we had to leave early and miss breakfast the second morning, making sure we had something to eat for our road trip.

We so enjoyed our stay at The Craftsman! Mike is a conscientious host who is unbelievable knowledgeable about the area and all of the wonderful things to do there. The breakfasts were delicious and the company was interesting. We especially loved the warm and inviting of the house, and enjoyed talking to Mike about his adventure restoring it. We highly recommend The Craftsman!

We reserved a room, a late reservation, when registered for a bike event. This was our first time staying at the Craftsman Bed & Breakfast, and from the minute we parked, we knew we were in for a treat. A warm greeting from the host, got the bike safely locked out of sight with the host's help. We also got help on recommendations for places to have dinner...enjoyed going to the local spot for the freshest fish and chips. The room was cozy, quiet, and a retreat from everything! After a great night's sleep, we went to breakfast, enjoying a lovely meal fresh from the kitchen with all the guests staying there. It is now a place we'll return to, we've told friends and know that they will enjoy it as much as we did. The house is well cared for, the rooms unique and comfortable, bring a book, relax, go for a walk, it is a retreat from the busy pace that we find ourselves in. Jenn L.

Michael greets you with a smile and a fresh batch of cookies! While the location in Pacific City is not the best, you aren't far from anything, and that includes the beach. The rooms are clean and bright and beds most comfortable.

My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised by how beautiful and comfortable our room was. The owner was friendly and helpful. We can't wait to return soon.

Stayed one night over a Saturday in February. Unusually fantastic weather. Mike was great. He was right there to greet us when we arrived. Fresh brownies on the table. The whole place was spotless. I've decided that Mike is a bit like Siri. Every time we had a question, or even just mentioned, "Well, we're thinking about doing this..." he had just the right small suggestion or helpful advice for any activity.

We loved staying with Mike! We stayed at the Craftsman for our anniversary, and it was grand. Nothing beats the beach, but cute rooms, amazing restoration work, a knowledgeable and funny host, great food, and relaxed vibe make the Craftsman a real gem. We would happily recommend the Craftman B&B to anyone, especially those with an interest in the Craftsman movement or Art Nouveau. The beauty of this house truly reflects Mike's labor and love for the place. -Erica

Exceptionally well run B&B. The attention to detail doesn't stop at the architecture.

This was a wonderful seaside B&B and our visit was perfect in every way. The décor and the mood of the Inn was so perfectly craftsman. The breakfasts were so wonderful, original and delicious that words hardly do them service. Michael was a superb Innkeeper and we enjoyed every minute we were there.

We recently stayed at The Craftsman Bed & Breakfast overnight. The room was comfortable and pleasant. Mike, the owner, was very attentive and strove to meet any needs we might have. Breakfast was very good and the coffee outstanding. I would recommend this b&b to anyone looking to stay in the area.

During a recent trip to Oregon, we stayed a night at The Craftsman, and wished we'd stayed two! The room was lovely, bright & clean, the bed comfortable. The bathroom was large and spacious, shower hot and roomy. We stayed in the Morris room. Especially loved that there were two suitcase racks, and the water in the fridge on our floor filled with waters was so thoughtful. There was a place to sit downstairs and wait for our friends to come for breakfast, with very comfortable leather chairs. Only disappointed that we didn't realize there was a hot tub! We would have definitely taken a spell there. Coffee was delicious. We had stuffed french toast, bananas foster, yumm, and so nice to converse with not only the other people staying there but also Mike who was full of info of where to eat, where to visit, and great stories of his life in the area. Would highly recommend!

We stayed here for one night during our honeymoon to the Coast. When we arrived, there were warm cookies, soda and water to take, which was nice. We stayed in the Morris Room and it was a decent size with a nice-sized bathroom. The breakfast was cfelling and the other guests were lovely. The house seemed really nice for the neighborhood which seemed a little rundown, but the whole city was like that. It's a 10 minute walk (I think) to the beach. It's centrally located with several restaurants/bars within walking distance. It's a 3 minute drive to Cape Kiwanda and Pelican Pub & Brewery which is a must see. Overall, was a nice house/bedroom with a nice host and great breakfast, the most important things when staying at a B&B!

The Craftsman B and B is a lovingly restored Arts and Crafts home about three blocks from the beach at Pacific City. The rooms are lovely, the beds comfortable and everything is spotlessly clean. The inkeeper is an interesting guy who is full of helpful info, especially about the dory fishing. Breakfast was abundant and delicous, served family style with all of the guests (all 8 of us) seated at the same time. Much pleasant conversation ensued. Dont miss dining at The Sportsmans.....

Mike is a wonderful host! He's very attentive and extrememly knowledgeable about the area and good places to eat. This is our third stay and we enjoy it every time. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and we like the bathrooms with large clawfoot tubs. We enjoy a B&B that doesn't have lace and other sorts of grandma decorations. The craftsman style is very nice. Delicious breakfast! Short drive to the main downtown Pacific City area. We look forward to staying again next summer!

Everything about the Craftsman, and its congenial and helpful owner, Mike, is fresh and fun. The rooms are immaculate, comfortable, and refreshing. Located in the small town of Pacific City, the beach is nearby, and local restaurants are a very easy walk. Mike does everything possible to make one's visit comfortable and provides great assistance about the area. No 200 year old doily here: the decor is modern and bright. The Craftsman is a cannot miss for anyone wanting a relaxing time on the waterfront in a small town. Dennis

This is the best B&B in the mid-coast of Oregon. Mike is a very congenial host -- helpful, conversational, and likable, without being overly chatty. Great restaurant across the street, too, and superb beaches in the area. A few miles away is Cape Lookout, with two excellent hiking trails. We've come to this place from Tacoma, Washington, three or four times in the last half-dozen years (including 2014).

We stayed there late May on a trip of the Oregon Coast and thoght the place clean, the owner was very nice and breakfast was fantastic. My wife and I stay in a B & B whenever possible during our journeys and this ranked up at the top. Not much of a town but it was a nice break form the busier areas along the way. I would recommend it if in the area.

Our stay at the Craftsman B & B was perfect! It was my husband's birthday, and we were met with a smile, and a beautiful room with champagne and chocolate and a gorgeous view. The location was perfect, and we had a wonderful time. The owner went out of his way to accommodate my dietary restrictions, and it was delicious!

We stayed overnight following our 90-mile "Reach the Beach" bicycle ride, and couldn't have asked for a nicer stay. Mike was very attentive, storing our "bike" (actually a 10-foot long tandem trike) in his garage. The room was extremely comfortable -- great bed, great tub/shower even though both of us are over 6' tall. Great restoration job on the Craftsman -- wonderful workmanship, and Mike is great to talk to. Can't recommend this B&B enough!
5 on May 30, 2014
We stayed just one night at the Craftsman and left wishing we were in the area longer to stay additional nights. Mike was an awesome host and the room was incredibly comfortable. We slept better than we have any other night of our coastal journey. We also really enjoyed the quaint area of Pacific City. We will be back & will be staying at the Craftsman, without question.

Mike is extremely hospitable in a very respectable way. It is extremely clean and well kept. The Craftsman is very close the beach and restuarants. Mike is a great cook and makes everyone feel comfortable during the breakfast. I would recommend this to anyone ! Thank you Mike! - Celeste and Josh

This little nestled away B and B is perfect for a two day getaway. It's quaint lay out and sweet little rooms take you back in time to when things were simple. Mike the owner is great and makes a great little breakfast and a fresh cup of coffee. It you like the B and B experience it's a great little gem. Kinda tricky to find, so you may drive around the neighborhood like 6 times but it's right there. It's not walking distance to the brewery (in the off season.) The little hot tub out back is nice too, it really is a getaway from the hustle bustle of your daily grind. :)

This bed and breakfast is right on the money for the value. A few things in the inn need updating but overall it was a very pleasant place with some unique features such as a beautiful 360 degree hand-painted mural in the living room. The bathrooms were well-appointed and immaculate, and the bed extremely comfortable. Our every want was attended to immediately by Mike, the owner/innkeeper. He was ready to make my espresso exactly when I wanted it every morning, and delicious coffee it was indeed. He also cheerfully obliged my food request to stay grain-free and made excellent sweet potato fritters in place of waffles. I would stay here again.

This place was awesome and I would definitely stay here again. In fact I'm scheming to get some of my friends in on the act so we can rent all four rooms in the house. The house has been delightfully restored, and the soaking tub in our room was incredible. We within easy walking distance to "downtown" as well. The owner's recommendation for dinner was great. Pacific City remains one of my favorite little towns on the Oregon Coast, and this is my new favorite place to stay.
5 on January 19, 2014
This is the best place to stay in Pacific City, Oregon. Just a block or two off the main road and within walking distance to places to eat. You can also walk to the ocean from here. Michael greeted me at check-in with oatmeal cookies. I stayed upstairs in the Morris room. The bed was comfortable and had nice sheets. The bathroom has a very nice tiled bath/tub shower. It was very quiet at night and I slept well. I woke up and went downstairs and Michael served a breakfast of banana fosters french toast, turkey sausage, sliced apple, scones with marion berry jam, orange juice and tea. I was stuffed and did not need lunch. Michael was also there anytime to help with any questions about the area. I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone.

The breakfast was great.

My husband and I stayed at the Craftsman B&B while on our 2 Year wedding anniversary trip and it was just the perfect amount of relaxation. The town is very small with little to do but if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway, this is your place. The B&B was so comfortable, Mike is so hospitable and the food was delicious. We enjoyed a bottle of wine from his collection along with the hot tub he has for his guests in the courtyard. Lovely, lovely stay and nearly a month later, we are already saying how we want to go back for another relaxing getaway. The Bistro down the street was perfect for dinner too...really, the food is just great in this small, quaint, beach town.

The Craftsman is very well-restored and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were tasty. The river and beach are a short walk away, and there are several places to eat and drink within walking distance. The immediate neighborhood did not have quite as much character as I had hoped, but that was the only real drawback. There is a lot to do in the surrounding area.

This was our first time staying at The Craftsman, but it will not be our last! What a beautiful house in a wonderful setting! It is obvious that Mike is truly passionate about what he does. His breakfasts are to die for, so tasty & flavorful (bananas foster french toast!!!), he has all the amenities missing from a traditional hotel (hot tub and gorgeous rooms), he even has flip flops for walking to the beach or hot tub. You could spend a whole day just checking out all the pictures throughout the house (not to mention his awesome salt & pepper shaker collection!). Mike was also spot-on with his recommendations for food & activities, a very helpful host! We stayed at The Craftsman for our 1st anniversary, a fantastic memory we will have for a lifetime! I would highly recommend staying here to all my friends and family!

Breakfast was awesome. I would have given the food 5 stars just for the coffee, but the entire breakfast was worth 5 stars-- french toast/bananas foster with sausage, muffins, fruit, and juice. My sausage was vegetarian, which I greatly appreciated. Mike had great recommendations for local food. The room was nice and the bed was comfy. The sitting area was great in the morning before breakfast to enjoy our coffee and tea. There were home-made cookies to greet us on arrival. It's not on the beach, but it's actually great because it is a bit out of the fray and yet still close to everything. Definitely recommend!

We had a wonderful one night stay here in the Prairie Room. Traveled down from Seattle for a brief escape. Mike was a great host, offering suggestions about where to eat and local stories. We loved the stainless steel water bottles already filled with cold water for guests to use! That was a nice touch. Loved the deck as well. Mike made us delicious coffee in the morning and an amazing breakfast of berry french toast and fresh orange juice! It sure doesn't hurt that it's even more affordable than most of the other non-camping places to stay in the area. Would definitely return; maybe next time by bicycle!

The innkeeper, Mike, was very helpful with local tips about restaurants, beach locations, and the Pacific City area. Our room (the blue room) was clean and well maintained, with an updated bathroom and very comfortable and clean bed and linens. Locks were in good working order and the room felt very private, secure, and comfortable. The food each morning was excellent. The whole house is in great shape, clean, tastefully decorated, and skillfully renovated. Overall a great place to stay, would not hesitate to recommend the Craftsman to anyone!

Our one night was very successful. Although our needs and wants were simple and all met, I sense Host Michael can and will offer much more. The house is great, every amenity provided, and Michael is impressively knowledgeable about everything while still being calm to the degree of being shy and retiring. We wished we'd had the time to linger longer and really experience the garden. When future traveling includes Pacific City, we look forward to staying at The Craftsman Bed & Breakfast.

Mike's home in Pacific City was a nice surprise. As a fan of the Arts and Crafts bulding movement, it was a pleasure to see all the workmanship that went into the home. Our room was a good size and nicely furnished, staying in the Arts and Crafts style, It is about 3 blocks from the beach in a very small town. Mike's breakfast was hardy, the coffee was delicious, and the company of the other guests was enjoyable. It was a little more difficult to find a place for dinner ion the town. Overall, a nice experience.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Michael, the innkeeper, with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. We were shown to our room and then given many ideas for exploring the area. On the 2nd afternoon, we were provided with freshly baked brownies. Breakfasts were fabulous and he was even able to accomodate one of the guests who was a vegan. IWe had a wonderful stay.

We had no dinner except breakfast, which was very goog. A place to recommend to my friends in Switzerland. Great time and thanks very much Mike. Daniel

We took a short side trip to the coast during our time in Portland. Craftsman B&B was a warm welcoming stop. Mike is a down to earth person with many talents - Woodworking and cooking are two you'll quickly find out about. He opened up the hot tub as soon as I got back from a run to workout some kinks. We highly recommend Craftsman.

Mike was very helpful and very accommodating. We enjoyed the hot tub after a day of hiking. The location was great.....close to the beach and restaurants. Breakfast was delicious! Met other guests and enjoyed the conversation. The Prairie Room was perfect for us. Would definitely return!

Quiet and well restored Craftsman home within easy walking distance of the beach and all in town amenities. Micheal is a pleasant and congenial host. Good value for a comfortable B&B experience.
5 on May 31, 2013
Our host went out of his way to accomodate us. We are vegetarian, and I am gluten-free. When we arrived he greeted us with gluten free brownies! We were recommended to a classy restaurant within walking distance, since we arrived late and were very hungry. We were made to feel very much at home, but also given plenty of privacy. The room we booked was immaculate, decorated beautifully, with real attention to detail. Would highly recommend this B n' B to anyone, but especially young couples who want to get away somewhere quiet that is artsy, and classy at the same time. (The B&B is decorated in the 1920s style...as artists, we really appreciated the owner's eye for design!). Each room has its own private bathroom, with tub and shower. The breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed lively chats with our host as we ate. We would definitely stay here again, and for more than one night next time! We were sad we didn't get to take advantage of the outdoor jacuzzi!

The rooms are beautiful, breakfast delicious and the nearby beach is breathtaking at sunset. Nothing but good things to say.

Mike went out of his way to welcome us. His attention to detail in how he renovated this place was much appreciated. We especially liked the panoramic painting on the walls of the living room. His collection of salt and pepper shakers is charming. The postcard of the area was a nice touch.

It was perfect for us. No lace, no doilies (just as advertised!), exposed beams, craftsman style furniture and decor throughout. The bed was comfy, the room was clean, and the breakfasts were so good The head of the house was very attentive and delightful to speak with. We will recommend this to everyone and would definitely go back!

Great house, beautiful rooms. No lace or floral patterns. No TVs, which I preferred, nothing to distract from being with my fiance. Plus a hot tub that is barely mentioned on the website! Owner was friendly, always around when we needed recommendations or assistance but never intrusive.

Food was fantastic. Beds were crazy comfortable! Walking distance from wine tasting and the beach. Details in the house were perfect for the time period. Mike was friendly and accommodating, and yet not intrusive.
4.6 on October 15, 2012
The house is easy to find, just off the main street on which you come into town. There is ample parking adjacent to the street and you enter the house from the deck at the front of the house straight into a period living room. The whole house has been very tastefully and thoughtfully restored with a complete set of period features. The collection of salt & pepper shakers in the dining room is extensive and great fun, something new every time you look or, the basis for a Spy Training memory game! Books and games are available too. Period pieces such as a cream and sugar bowl, grace the breakfast table, along with very sustaining and tasty home cooked food. The rooms are spacious all with en-suite (although that is not clear from the web-site, photo or two would be an easy way to deal with that and they too are picturesque). Comfortable beds, everything is scrupulously clean and all the necessary linen. Don't miss the tromp d'oeil roof access hatch but mind your step. Drink making kit in the dining room and a short drive to the Pelican Brew pub & restaurant, known Oregon wide and probably further afield. Other eateries, supermarket, very helpful car repair place, filling station and all the necessities are nearby. It is a remote, small but fully functioning, friendly community. There's the beach, wildlife, state parks and all manner of other interesting things to do (minus the merry-go-rounds and cotton candy). Mike, the host, is a most interesting entertaining and hospitable chap. Cars, off-roading, the house, the period, the renovation, the locality etc etc. As we were the only guests, off season, he had time to talk. Go there, it's great!

Had a relaxing weekend. I couple of suggestions: I think the mattress in the room we stayed is starting to slump and should be replaced and the breakfast could contain more fresh fruit and protein. But otherwise, the B&B was satisfactory and an interesting restoration near a great beach!
4.2 on October 04, 2012
Mike was very hospitable and a great host. We felt welcome and at home away from home. We stayed in the Morris Room; it was comfortable and clean and the rest of the house was beautiful. The breakfast was delicious and filling. The hot tub was especially a treat. We also appreciate Mike's efforts to run a green business and would recommend The Craftsman to family and friends.

My wife and I spent two nights at this meticulously redone craftsman style home in Pacific City. Mike has spent the last 13 years rehabing this previously neglected home and the results of this labor of love are fabulous. Our guestroom was roomy with pleasant lighting a and a large bathroom with period fixtures. The bed was handsome and comfortable. Most impressive is the re-milled fir woodwork and doors on the first floor. This is a must stop for any fans of arts and crafts era homes. Because he is emulating the 1921 period of the home, do not expect a television in your room ( we found this refreshing). Wi-fi is available however and I do believe he can provide a portable DVD player if you need your fix of a movie if the weather turns unpleasant.

We loved our room (praire room). The bathroom was amazing and the private deck was so relaxing.
5 on September 16, 2012
We had a fantastic time at the Craftsman B&B in Pacific City. Arriving late in the evening by bicycle, Mike greeted us warmly, and swiftly. In minutes, our bicycles were stowed safely, offered brownies, and excellent intel for dinner choices. Breakfasts were scrumptious and healthy, and the other guests were interesting. Mike was always willing to accomodate our thirst for strong, hot coffee too! We slept well, and bathed luxuriously in the gigantic tub of the Mackintosh room. Upon departure, we were treated to a discount for our eco-friendly choice to ride instead of drive. What a nice surprise! We hope to return next year!
5 on September 15, 2012
This is a charming home and Mike was a great host. We arrived in the afternoon without having eaten lunch and he recommended a Pub for lunch where we sat on the deck/sand for 3 hours and watched whales just off shore. What a treat for we who live in the desert! Breakfast was a first for me, stuffed french toast with bananas. Mike is a great cook and we all enjoyed our fill. The house itself is a piece of art so be sure to have Mike tell you about it!

Mike accommodated our special diet restrictions with excellence and deliciousness!
4.6 on August 31, 2012
Mike was helpful, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the area. The house is beautiful, a labor of love and eco-friendly. Communal breakfasts were enjoyable. We are vegan and Mike was able to meet this dietary request. The coffee is good and strong! Make sure to take a peak at the scrapbook depicting the renovations of the home. Don't forget your swimsuits for a soak in the hot tub in the backyard. Pacific City is an adorable coastal town with a wine bar, restaurants, coffee shops, a grocery store and an adorable library with garden. We'll definitely be back for a future stay.

The Craftsman B&B was the first night of our 10 day Oregon road trip. We arrived later in the afternoon and Mike ws there to checke us in. Pacific City was veiled with ocean mist and cool temperatures, but the house was cozy, inviting and warm :) We had the pleasure of the Prairie Room which we enjoyed thoroughly. Claw foot tub and large ensuite made it wonderful! We also had a small balcony facing west which we could enjoy. But we have to say that though the accommodations were great, the host was greater!. Mike, the owner and host greeted us warmly, had cookies out, showed us to our room, recommended places we could have dinner at and served a fabulous breakfast! He was a wealth of information too. We shared our breakfast with 3 other couples from different places and had a great time together! We'd go back in a heart-beat :)

What a pleasure it was to stay here. My partner and I stayed in the striking blue Stickley Room. We were impressed by the beauty and comfort of this B&B. The restoration is brilliant and the wood throughout the house is beautiful. The breakfast was impressive and tasty (and a good portion!). The grounds are nice and it's a good location. We also loved that is this B&B is environmentally friendly through and through. The innkeeper Mike is great and takes pride in the B&B.

We truly enjoyed our stay at The Craftsman B&B. Mike is a warm and welcoming host, not to mention an excellent and accomodating cook. He graciously accomodated vegans and those with gluten-free diets. Breakfast was delicious! Mike's eye for detail, comfort and style made our stay special. If you appreciate the Arts and Crafts movement, you'll love the architecture and decor. Pacific City is a cozy community. Traveling the Three Capes Route on our way north was an added bonus. My daughter and I stayed in Pacific City for the first time on this trip to the coast. Mike, our host at The Craftsman B&B was extremely friendly and helpful. The hot tub was a great way to spend our evening after playing in the sand and surf. The big bathtub in the Mackintosh room was a lady's dream, and Mike doesn't skimp on nice shampoo and soaps. Our breakfast was great, as well....Ask Mike about a great place to eat lunch or dinner, and he will suggest the Delicate Palette, which looks like a dive bar from the street (its in walking distance)...but my oh my...great eats, great staff, great atmosphere.... The Pelican Pub and Brewery is not far down the road, and you can see Haystack Rock from the window of your room. I would absolutely recommend The Craftsman B&B.

Clean, well furnished rooms and comfortable beds in a very quiet setting. Centrally-located, it offers easy access to Pacific City's shops and restaurants and to the areas stunning beaches. The host is welcoming, attentive and hospitable without being overbearing and serves-up truly delicious hot breakfasts. The owners of this place have obviously put a lot of effort in to their B&B and the results speak for themselves. We would definitively stay here again

The Praire Room was beyond comfortable. So many little touches to make your stay homey, like the rocking chair with the blanket, down comforter, provided water in stainless steel containers....just a perfect stay. Some stains on the carpet and little poops from some animal on the balcony, but that didn't detract too much from the wonderful stay.
5 on July 24, 2012
We stayed one weekday night during the summer. Arriving late in the afternoon, exhausted from a day of driving and beach-hopping, we were greeted with cookies and espresso. The room, with an outdoor patio, was lovely. We slept well, and breakfast the next morning was wonderful. As an added bonus, our host recommended a beautiful hike to take on our way out.
5 on July 24, 2012
Immediately after our arrival Mike greeted us and showed us our room. It was bright, spacious and extremely clean. After snacking on fresh brownies downstairs we asked Mike what we could do to entertain ourselves that evening. He made a few suggestions to check out the beach and the cape which were a hike but well worth it for the view and experience! Thoroughly exhausted we both enjoyed a great nights sleep in our comfortable room. The following morning Mike was full of ideas on what we needed to see on our way down the coast. Breakfast was delicious and very enjoyable with the other guests as well as Mike sharing his local information.
4.6 on July 23, 2012
We spent two nights at the Craftsman B&B and were very happy with our choice and with the location. We had a view of the huge Haystack rock from our windows and were about two minutes from the beach - maybe a 5 minute walk. Our host, Mike, pays incredible attention to the details of providing a positive experience, and seems to have thought of everything, in advance. So in addition to having personally restored and expanded the 1921 vintage house, his breakfasts were delicious, and the amenities he provided were top notch. We have stayed in far more expensive hotels with fewer special treats for the guests. Everything from spa robes to shower clogs, to chilled water and soda, wine service (and a huge wine cellar) brownies for bedtime snacks, a great hot tub in a private garden, and fine toiletries. Plus a passion for environmental preservation. I loved the instant hot water in the sink and bath -don't think I've had that before! Pacific City is conveniently located about mid-coast - so it's easy to do side trips if you want to. We'd be happy to return and felt pampered and relaxed.
4.8 on July 17, 2012
For the most part, Pacific City is working class beach town and The Craftsman is at its center. For the tourist, you will be driving, not walking, to the many wonderful sites close by. That being said our B and B was the perfect place to stay. The standards are high for both the quality of the rooms and for the morning's breakfast. Judging from we saw in the city, this is the best place in town. Ask about the 360 degree mural in the front room. Enjoy!
5 on July 15, 2012
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. It was the best place we could have picked. The in keeper was very nice and accommodating. We stayed for a week and loved breakfast every morning and never had the same thing. There were lots of places to eat within walking distance, that were delicious. Everyone in the area was very friendly. The place was nice and relaxed. The innkeeper was great and giving suggestions and making sure you were happy your entire stay. We will defiantly go back and recommend this B&B to friends and family.

We had a great time and the inn keeper was friendly. He accommodated all of our needs and even gave us his driveway because we had a trailer. We will stay at the b&b again.
3.4 on July 12, 2012
Michael has done an amazing job creating a true craftsman gem. With a mix of authentic pieces and his own woodworking skills, this place is a step back to 1920s elegance. My only caveat would be a warning that there is very limited clothing storage and no closets in the rooms. Plan on living out of your suitcase. Fine for a couple of nights but rather tricky if you plan a long stay.
4.2 on July 11, 2012
Everything was as you would expect from a quality B&B, clean room, good food, interesting house and so on. The difference here was Mike. As we were leaving he suggested a alternative route to Portland the ended up being one of our favorite parts of the trip. Small things like this are just an example of how he'll do whatever to make your stay enjoyable.
5 on July 09, 2012
Michael was very helpful and accommodating. Our stay in the Mackinstosh room was lovely. The bath room was spacious and really nice, bed was so comfy. I took a wonderfully, relaxing bath and loved having a separate shower stall as well. We had fun filled days at the beach and enjoyed a nice soak in the hot tub. This was a great short getaway from Central Oregon. We definitely plan to visit again and support Michael's business.

This B&B was fantastic. The home was beautifully appointed, very neat and clean and NO doilies or lace or potpourri!! Mike, the proprietor was very gracious and knowledgeable about local hikes. He went out of his way to host us and make us feel welcome. We give our stay an A++. Holly & Martin
5 on July 06, 2012
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Craftsman. It is one of the best B&Bs we've been to. Mike is an excellent host and puts lots of attention into the details. He was very helpful but not excessively involved. Gave great recommendations when asked. The breakfasts were also delicious and he catered to my vegetarianism with ease. We stayed here because of a Living Social coupon but would go back and pay full price without hesitation.
4.8 on June 27, 2012
Thanks for your hospitality, Michael! The workmanship that went into restoring this fine Craftsman home is stunning, the breakfast well worth getting up for, and this 'little beach town' is a great place to beach comb and explore restaurants, bars, even a tasting room for a local winery! Of course, the Pelican Pub and Brewery is not to be missed if ales mean anything to you. Visit Pacific City and let The Craftsman B&B be your home away from home.
4.4 on June 26, 2012
We stayed in the largest room with a large bathroom and private balcony. The room was nicely done, and as stated on the website no TV or radio, which forced you to disconnect, something I enjoyed more as time went on! The food was great, and the knowledge of the local area was so valuable! This was only my second time in a B&B, and I would go back to this place!!

Welcoming B & B. Greeted with warm cookies each day. Amazing breakfasts. Cozy rooms. A wonderful place worth the visit.
5 on June 09, 2012
A wonderful 3 days were spent at The Craftsman. Mike has labored long and hard, and the results of a total remodel of an older building are a very comfortable, spacious B&B. He is also a good cook! This quiet inn is central to many activities both north and south - a good "home base".
3.8 on June 05, 2012
Our stay at the Craftsman was unfortunately short but sweet. We just stayed one night in the Mackintosh room but the giant bathtub was incredibly relaxing. The owner offers bottles of wine for purchase and there are even loaner flip flops in case you didn't bring any. There is plenty of literature to learn about the area, where to go and what to see. The bed was very comfortable and Mike's breakfast was hearty and delicious. He even offered a vegetarian option for other guests.

This was our first time at a B&B so we really didn't know what to expect, but we were blown away. Mike was a great host and fantastic cook! He knew all the places to go both in and around Pacific City so we didn't waste our time or money trying to see places that were still closed for the "off-season". The place looked great - definitely a B&B that both men & women can enjoy! Take a look at the scrap book to see how much love was put into the place, and be sure to check out the amazing Salt & Pepper shaker collection.

My wife and I recently spent two nights at the Craftsman and are already hatching plans to return. The building itself is a marvel with all the intricate details that had been laboriously renovated. The attention to detail the owners have put into it is obvious. Mike, the owner, was very friendly, welcoming and has a masterful hand in the kitchen. He was accommodating of my dietary restrictions and quick with a joke and travel/touring advice. I can't wait to return, hopefully sooner than later.

The hospitality was incredible.. The home made cookies and brownies in the evening were also incredible.. Not to mention the breakfast and incredible made to order coffee/espresso... The only downside to me was that it was stormy during our stay and there aren't television sets in the room.. Something I normally could care less about but because it was so stormy it would have been nice to have one.

My sweetheart and I enjoyed a wonderful Valentine's get-away which included a fabulous meal at the Delicate Palate (a recommendation by Mike) across the street, a good night's sleep, a friendly breakfast with other guests and a lovely visit with Mike before walking the beach for hours followed by a memorable hike at Cape Lookout. We ended our adventure watching sunset over drinks and nibbles at Tidal Rave. We can't wait to return.

We spent a couple chilly coastal nights here in January, 2012- our first time seeing the Oregon Coast and we were very happy with the accomodations. Mike was a gracious host, made amazing breakfasts both mornings, and was happy to answer our many questions about his B&B "project" (Check out the scrapbook and ask him!) and also happy to point us in the direction of potential dinner places or anything else we needed. The bed was soooooo comfy, our room was simple and warm; it just felt like staying with friends, which is why we like B&Bs so much in general. No, you can't see the ocean from the room, but you can sure hear it, and its just a hop skip and a jump away. We were looking for some peace and quiet and we definitely got it at the Craftsman.

We came for a New Year's getaway and enjoyed every minute of it! The craftsmanship in the house truly lives up to its name, and the owner's quirky collection of salt & pepper shakers made me smile. I loved the deep porcelain tub with a book holder and also took advantage of the hot tub out back at night. The bed was soooooo comfortable, slept so deeply. Oh, and the espresso! Wow! Something like 6 different bean varieties...so delicious! The color of our room (green) was very soothing, and the antique furniture was perfectly chosen. Our host was perfectly accomodating and not in the least bit intrusive. Breakfast the next mornings was wonderful, enjoyed dining with other travelers - others had all been here before. I think we might become repeat guests ourselves!

We really enjoyed this B&B. It is about 200 feet from the best restaurant on the coast in this area. The owner is friendly and made tasty breakfast for us. He also was able to give us great information regarding all the activities my wife and I were looking to do on the coast. Thanks for the great couple of days!

The Craftsman is a wonderful place to relax in an area on the Oregon Coast overlooked by most tourists. The gracious and knowledgeable innkeeper, Michael, was a pleasure to chat with during breakfast. The food was fresh and inventive. Wine list was solid and fairly priced. After staying only one night, my wife and I are already planning our next visit.

We stayed two nights at The Craftsman during the first week of December, for our 30th anniversary. As noted by the Outstanding ratings I've given, we found the house to be a lovely place to relax, and Michael's attention to details was first-rate. Breakfasts were delicious and served with an artful flair. When I mentioned I was avoiding wheat, he conjured up gluten-free French toast, and cookies! Pacific City is small but there's lots to do in the area, and when we return The Craftsman will again be our preferred destination.

Very tidy -lovely rooms. Wonderful furniture. Food was tasty - not as plentiful as I am used to from B&Bs.

The Craftsman is a beautiful place to stay, appointed with style and skill, close to town, within walking distance of some very nice restaurants as well as the beach and waterfront, and with a relaxing atmosphere. The owner of the B&B exhibits a wry wit and attention to all the details. Highly recommended!

This was my third visit to the Craftsman, and the best yet. The house is a beautifully finished restoration and the staff has though through all the details of your stay to ensure it is as relaxing as possible. Don't forget to head across the street to The Delicate Palate, which ispossibly the best restaurant on the coast.

The Craftsman is a pretty little B&B tucked away in idyllic Pacific City. Mike was a wonderful host. The MacIntosh room was lovely with a very comfortable bed and large bathroom. Just a short walk to the beach and dining places. Breakfast was yummy and we have vowed to return.

My wife and I decided to travel to the Northwest from Texas for our 13th anniversary. We knew we wanted to spend some time on the coast, and began our search in Pacific City for accommodations. After reading other positive reviews for the Craftsman, we called and spoke with Mike and made our reservations. Upon arrival, Mike greeted us, showed us around and made us feel right at home. He suggested places to go, things to do, times to be there, and ultimately, treated us like family. Breakfast was served right on time each day, and was spectacular. The whole experience was so much more like a stay at a friend's house, rather than a hotel stay.

What a wonderful trip! We spent 2 nights at the Craftsman and enjoyed our stay so much that we plan to be back whenever we come to Portland. This is a wonderful place if you want to relax and just enjoy the beach and the beautiful Oregon coast. We loved the fact that there was no TV or phone to distract us and we could spend our time visiting and reading. What a lovely place! The food was outstanding. Mike was a perfect host and recommended the places we should see and not miss. A great B & B!!!

The owner was friendly and incredibly attentive- prepared the hot tub for us in the back and always there any time we were looking for some information. Breakfast was GREAT (Banana's foster french toast) and my girlfriend appreciated the espresso machine. Not quite as close to the beach as I originally though (like a block and a half) but we arrived pretty late, so I wasn't worried about it. Would return if i needed lodging in the area.

Ours was a lovely stay in Pacific City. I particularly appreciated the discount for arriving in a hybrid/alternative fuel vehicle or a bicycle. Breakfast was tasty and generous, and was a espeically enjoyable in the family-style setting of a dining room table where all the guest sat together for one sitting. The beach was delightfully close, but I must warn the intrepid walkers - that dune at the end of the beach is much harder to ascent than it looks! The visual reward once you reach the top, however, is priceless.

A wonderful, relaxing, and eventful stay at the Craftsman B&B. My husband and I stayed for one night in the Prarie Room on the last night of our honeymoon. It was a perfect ending to a wonderful trip. Really enjoyed all the personal touches, such as fresh-baked cookies in the evening, and the beautifuly decorated house. The hot tub was great too! There's so much to do in the surrounding areas, so we were pretty busy, but I would have loved to just stay in our room and read in the comfortable bed or chairs. Thank you and we'll be back!

This is a beautifully and lovingly restored hideaway in an unassuming location, tucked back in an alleyway off the main street in town. It's close to an expansive, pristine beach, with all of the magic that it suggests. The host was very hospitable and helpful, taking time to chat and make us feel welcome.

Mike was a wonderful host. He was warm and attentive, not to mention being a really interesting guy. The room was great and definitely worth the money. The only complaint was that the breakfast was really sweet and not terribly nutritious. For $150 it would have been nice to have more options like fruit and granola. But, overall, a wonderful place would definitely come back to.

The Craftsman B & B is a great place to recharge your batteries. It's small beach town location is laid back and relaxed. The Innkeeper knows the community and surroundings well and is more than willing to share his knowledge and opinions. Just follow his suggestions and you'll have a great time. The communal breakfast in the dining room is both delicious and a great forum to share experiences with the other guests.

What a home away from home! Centrally located for everything we did, walking or driving. Hot tub under the stars everynight listening to the ocean, great! Mike our host was at our beckon call with everything we needed.
5 on September 05, 2011
The Craftsman B&B is in a great location in Pacific City. While not oceanfront, it's close enough that we could hear the ocean and see the huge Haystack Rock from our room. The B&B has charm and extremely comfortable beds! The hot tub was a nice addition to relax and stargaze - and they include towels, robes and slippers. Mike is a great host who gave us helpful recommendations on local restaurants, hikes, viewpoints, etc. so we could use our time wisely. We'll definitely visit again on our next trip to the Oregon coast!
5 on September 04, 2011
Micheal, the innkeeper, was very helpful during our stay. He recommended a nice restaurant and was helpful with local places to visit and quick tips, such as skipping the downstairs store at Tillamook Cheese Factory to get ice cream upstairs. Nice and relaxing setting.

This was a last minute trip for our 1st visit to Pacific City. A call to Mike at the Craftsman B&B & we had a room! What a very nice surprise when we arrived. B&B was charming w/excellent craftsmanship done by Mike. Our room was perfect w/very comfortable bed & we could hear sounds of the ocean as we fell asleep! Had a delicious breakfast of banana's foster french toast w/sausage (even vegetarian sausage for my wife!) w/homemade muffins. Mike has incredible coffee machine that you can select style/strength of your morning coffee, excellent. We recommend visiting Pacific City & you must stay at the Craftsman B&B to make your trip complete!

I'm so glad we were able to get a room at the Craftsman. Mike is extremely friendly and professional, the house is comfortable and clean and peaceful, and Pacific City is a wonderful jumping-off point for seeing the coast. Mike helped us pick out what to do while we were in town, including directing us to some great hikes and giving us detailed instructions. The breakfasts are shared with other guests and were a nice social time in our otherwise very private stay. I would absolutely recommend it and plan on staying there in the future.
4.2 on August 22, 2011
The location was perfect--although not on the beach, it was a short walk (5 min) to the beach where you could walk for miles along the coast. Mike was a great host and has suggestions and perfect recommendations for anything you would like to do. We took him up on his suggestions and it made the trip. He makes amazing breakfast and usually has cookies or brownies laying around if you want a snack. He was never intrusive and seemed to always know when to come out and offer assistance. I will not forget this trip!

My husband and I spent one night at the Craftsman on a "last minute" (booked two weeks in advance) getaway to the coast. The Craftsman certainly met our expectations and I must admit that our expectations were high to begin with based on loads of rave reviews online. We especially appreciated that there were no TV's as we don't have one in our home and wanted some peace and quiet. The home itself is beautifully restored and very tastefully decorated. We enjoyed exploring the details in the seascape mural downstairs and the period decorations upstairs. The food was exceptional and the service was perfect - there when you needed it and out of your hair otherwise. We stayed in the Mackintosh room, which has a wonderfully large bathtub. The room itself is nice enough. I have never been pleased with a bed other than my own, so I will say that this was not the worst. The bathroom and linens were all perfectly clean, but I am a detail person and a neat freak, so I noticed some dust and cobwebs in the corners and window frames - not a problem that would prevent me from coming back - especially at such a great value!
5 on August 18, 2011
The Craftsman B&B was beautiful. All rooms were well appointed. The detail taken with the remodel and to each and every room made our stay very comfortable. We loved our visit.
4.2 on August 18, 2011
Craftsman style and charm abounds, and thanks to an addition (seamlessly attached to the original structure), so does space. We stayed in the Prairie Room and enjoyed the cool Pacific breezes from our walk-out balcony. The owner was personable and gave good advice about where to eat and drink in town, and the breakfast he served in the morning was delicious. We had German apple pancakes, blueberry muffins, fresh fruit, and the best homemade coffee I've ever had (made to order). Another couple was staying there at the same time, but we encountered them only at breakfast; the peacefulness and privacy were great amenities, especially when compared with the relative loudness and "boxed-in" feeling of a standard hotel. Also appreciated were the eco-friendly touches, such as the communal fridge stocked with stainless-steel water bottles (for use during one's stay). I'm not sure if we'll ever be in Pacific City again, but I would stay here, if given the opportunity!

It's pretty easy to tell who is running professional B and B and who is running a part time operation. The Craftsman is a professional operation and the host does a terrific job. I'd stay here again.

The Craftsman B&B is a great place to stay if you're looking for a little more of that Oregon coast experience without all the touristy flair. Mike is an excellent host, and knows everything about the area - where to eat, where to find hidden beaches, and even how to avoid lines at the Tillamook factory up the road! The breakfast was delightful, especially considering the freshness of all the ingredients. Will definitely be back!

If you haven't been in Pacific City before, you missed a thing. This small city with its 5mls of clean wide beaches and dunes is worth a visit. And if you are looking for a place to stay call the Craftman B&B, it's worth any cent you pay. Warm and friendly service, clean and very nice rooms and a fantastic breakfast - just awesome.

As it was the last time, we were entirely pleased with the accommodations, the host, the food, the cleanliness and the ambiance of the Craftsman B&B. This time our stay included renting the whole house for our wedding party. My husband and I were married on McPhillips Beach, just north of Haystack Rock, and none other than Michael Rech~Innkeeper at Craftsman~officiated our nuptials. This B&B was a treasure find for us and will continue to be a regular get-away place for us as well. Suzanne Parks

My husband and I stayed at the Craftsman for our honeymoon. It was the perfect place to cozy in and relax for a few days after all the wedding craziness. The owner Mike was absolutely outstanding. He was attentive to every need and pleasant and friendly without being too overbearing. He even made baked goodies every afternoon! We'd walk into the house to be greeted by cookies on the table and hot coffee any time of day. The breakfasts were exceptional. An attention to detail and taste and health rather than massive portions of subpar food. My husband and I just snuggled in and read books and played cards and didn't once miss the tv. Don't let the lack of a view of the ocean scare you off; It didn't matter one bit. From our little balcony we shared a gorgeous view of Haystack Rock as the sun went down. Definitley a better value than Cape Kiwanda. You're basically paying 100 dollars more there for not much of a view and no breakfast to boot!

Our first stay in a bed and breakfast. We loved the welcoming yet non-intrusive attitude of the innkeeper. The room itself was comfortable, clean and relaxing. The innkeeper offered to fix us an early breakfast when we said we needed an early check-out time. That was so nice and unexpected. The breakfast was to-die-for. So delicious. Would definitely stay there again. If all bed and breakfasts inns are like this one, we would never go back to hotels.

Initially the neighborhood was a bit of a turn off. I guess I'd expected something a bit more rural and scenic. But hey,it's a small oceanside village: I really hadn't a clue what to expect. Don't let that turn you off, for it would be your loss. The Craftsman B &B is walking distance to some nice art gallerys, several nice restaurants and the beach. And Pacific City (city? really?) is a WONDERFUL world apart from the cluttered and touristy coastal strip mall that blossums just a short drive to the south. The house, and in particular the bedrooms were absolutely beautiful and comfortable. Mike, our host was welcoming, available, and responsive without any appearance of intrusiveness or reservation. It was a wonderfully comfortable stay. And the food was outstanding. The ONLY criticism was the beautiful and quaint (but claustraphobic) clawfoot tub and shower in our private bathroom. It was like taking a shower in a poncho. Beyond that small frustration, our visit was wonderful and we heartily recommend this bed & breakfast. It was just so comfortable.

Recently, a friend and I took a trip up the Oregon Coast. We stayed one night at the Craftsman in the Stickley room. It is just as beautiful as it is in the picture, and the bed is very comfortable. You can really tell that the owners love what they do. We were able to look through their scrapbook about the renovation of the house, and we really appreciated their commitment to green business practices. We were impressed by the B&B's wine selection and the breakfast was great. Overall it was the best place we stayed on the Oregon Coast! We received great recommendations on where to eat and what to do in the area, including which trails are worth trying and which are just mud holes. I'd highly recommend staying here.

I am so glad I chose The Craftsman B&B for my family reunion weekend at Pacific City. Mike was such a gracious host, the breakfasts were delicious with coffee made to order, the bed was comfy and firm so I slept very well and the light ocean breeze coming through the window was about the only noise, except July 4th fireworks going off up and down the beach. I really recommend it!
5 on July 01, 2011
We made a last minute reservation at the Craftsman after finding it online. This place is a hidden gem. The house is very comfortable and spacious. The bathrooms are huge and bath amenities are generous. There are guidebooks and DVDs that you can borrow. The innkeeper, Mike, is a wealth of informatin and steered us to a dive bar for some of the freshest fish and chips we've ever had. The beach in Pacific City is more impressive than Cannon Beach-way more to see in the tidal pools and the cliffs and monoliths are incredible. We definitely recommend this bed and breakfast!!

It's a great place, especially if you like Craftsman furniture and architecture, as we do. We were a bit miffed when, on our second night, we heard people in the backyard in a hot tub, but the innkeeper hadn't bothered to tell us there was a hot tub! So, be aware there is one...

We spent one night at the Craftsman B&B in June. Mike was waiting for us as we drove up to the house and was helpful during our stay. The house and room were both nice, and Mike told us some interesting things about the building's history and his renovations (He did much of the wood upgrades and built some of the furniture). The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had both a soaking tub and shower. An outside hot tub is available, as are robes to wear to keep you warm to and from the tub. Nice sitting area and lots of reading material in the lobby. The breakfast included coffee made to your individual taste, orange juice, cranberry scones, marionberry jelly, chicken sausages, and banana flambe french toast. The homemade cookies at night was a nice touch. I liked the finishes to the house, Mike's coffee, and the comfortable bed.

A lovely visit. Mike has lavished every corner of this house with charm and beauty, from his own woodworking designs to stained glass and furnishings that create a house where the elements echo and enhance each other like a Schubert quartet. The Craftsman B&B is a fine establishment with excellent accommodations and superior food. Michael, the Innkeeper, is an excellent host and a very interesting Dude. The Craftsman is not elegant or oppulent, and neither is the Oregon Coast. But it is clean, well appointed, quiet, well located, and well managed. I will stay there again on my next beach trip. Given all of this it is the best value in a B&B I have ever had. Give Michael a call and reserve a room right now, you will not be sorry.

My hubby and I were super happy with Mike and his B&B! The room was cosy and the soaking tub a nice plus. The bed was so comfortable - there are not many beds comfortable when you are six months pregnant! We love Cape Kiwanda and would stay in the Craftsmen B & B again.

Mike's culinary skills are even better than our last visit. Great quality and fresh food, plenty of it and wonderful service. Even the coffee, made by the cup from a sophisticated coffeemaker that looks like it belongs in a high-end restaurant, is exceptional. Mike is at your beck and call, with suggestions for where to eat and what to do, without being intrusive. My husband and I won't stay anywhere but The Craftsman when we are in Pacific City.

A fun place to stay. A beautifully redone craftsman house that sits a few blocks from the shore. The Delicate Palate (across the street) provides awesome meals, and Mike creates a delicious breakfast (with attentive service). The room was immaculate and the bathroom was stylish and spacious. When looking for places to go wine tasting and sight-seeing, Mike was a helpful guide. He pointed us to some off the road wineries that were amazing!! Check out the Craftsman if you are at all considering a stay in Pacific City!

Very nicely restored house. A mural wraps around the Great Room that features the Three Capes Scenic Loop. Wonderful hot tub. We were quite pleased.

My girlfriend and are in our early 30s and don't care much for the doily type B&Bs that feel like you're staying at Grandma's. We like a mix of friendly and down home, yet a B&B that feels more modern. The Craftsman fit the bill perfectly. It still has the feel of a B&B but isn't "over the top." First off the hospitality was excellent. Mike, the owner was available and friendly, making recommendations about where to eat or go and being a great host, yet, he wasn't too intrusive. His customer service was the perfect balance. His breakfasts were VERY good and he had cookies or brownies waiting for the guests every evening. The room we stayed in was very nice, very clean, well made up and maintained very well. Just an all around great experience. We had a great time and we'd stay there again.

We found The Craftsman on the web. As soon as we read about it, and saw the pic's, we knew it would be perfect for a one night stay. Mike was welcoming and very friendly. The room was comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious!

I very highly recommend a stay at the Craftsman. The place is charming, wonderful, and everything we had hoped. We were met with just the right amount of attention - everything we needed and more, but not too overbearing. The room was small but just perfect, with a great tub and all the amenities. We may make this our coastal getaway from now on.

Stayed in the Mackintosh room, nicely decorated, cool bathtub and hex tiles in the bathroom.Yummy breakfast. Fancy pants coffee machine makes fast, great coffee with the perfect amount of crema. One of the few ocean B&B's that is not girly (lace everything, white wicker furniture, cheesy stuffed animals, angel figurines, obnoxious flower wallpaper). Would stay here again if passing through Pacific City.

The sunset from the room was nice. The room and bathrom clean and nicely decorated. We had to leave early and he made us a to go breakfast. I would recommend to friends and family and would definitely stay again!

The service was excellent. The host was always available if we needed him, but respected our space. When we asked, he gave us some great suggestions of things to do in the area and places to eat, as well as providing a map of the area. Breakfast was always a delicious highlight we'd look forward to. The host goes the extra mile to meet the guest's tastes and needs. My husband and I loved the 1920s feel of the house. The decor was very tasteful yet more masculine than the typical B&B. There're some interesting little things to learn about the house. For instance, be sure to ask about the mural in the sitting room. Another highlight of our visit to Pacific city was walking up the huge sand dune on the near-by beach. It was a fun challenge to climb, and the view was beautiful at the top. It would have been nice if we had brought a laptop, since we lacked a TV in our room and it was right in the middle of some interesting football games, but despite having no TV there were usually only pleasant surprises for us at the Craftsman B&B. It got my husband and I to actually sit together, talk, call family and play some of the board games provided while we munched on some snacks. (The treats provided by the host one evening was a pleasant surprise.) I would recommend it to friends and family any day! It was a pleasant and memorable experience. :)

Warm rooms and great bathtubs made our winter retreat at the beach a wonderful experience. This house is comfortable enough to stay for several nights. The innkeeper and service is very well balanced. They could tell when we were in the mood to chat, and when we wanted to be left alone. We will visit the Craftsman BB again.

Craftsman B&B is a spectacular place to stay. Reserved on line and showed up to a gracious and attentive host. The house and rooms are beautiful, clean, quiet, and full of character and charm. The Craftsman (architecture) theme runs throughout every corner of the house and done with the highest quality. Breakfast was grand and delicious - all home made. For a romantic anniversary we could have not have wanted any more. Amazingly Mike even arranged for the torrential rain that we arrived in on Saturday to morph into a beautiful partly cloudy day on Sunday. The beach was glorious to walk on and there were many places to explore. We will/would highly recommend to any and all. Mike is passionate about the B&B and the house - he and his wife remodeled it and did all the work. Thank you Mike for a wonderful time and for sharing you gorgeous house with us!

While on a quick 9 day explore of Oregon and Washington we spent one wonderful night at The Craftsman. Michael is a wonderful, engaging, affable and interesting host. The house is comfortable and the service excellent. The facilities are great (Michael's handiwork incredible) and the location is truly a place to leave the car and be able to go to everything by foot. Our biggest regret is not having more time. The coast is awesome and the Craftsman is a very worthwhile stop along the way.

My wife and I had never stayed in a B and B before staying at the Craftsman Bed and Breakfast in Pacific City. We had sucha wonderful time that we found five others to stay in on our two week trip through Oregon and northern California. At Craftsman we had a great room and opened the window and listened to the waves crashing into the shore. Breakfast was great and Mike was very friendly and personable. We would stay here again in a second...and we probably will.

Mike was great, and provided us great guidance in choosing a place for dinner - his recommendations were spot on! The B&B has great character, and the woodwork was quite impressive. Breakfast was great, and the espresso maker really topped off a great stay!

My fiance and I stayed at The Craftsman for her birthday and it was perfect. The house was a treat to be in and there are good restaurant options nearby. The house is about a ten minute walk from the beach. We walked along the beach at sunset over to the Pelican Pub for some tasty beers. I would recommend this B&B and will most likely stay again.

We only stayed one night but every detail was outstanding. This stop was our beginning point driving north along the Oregon coast. Host gave us helpful sight seeing tips. We highly recommend The Craftmen B&B and will stay again if we visit same area. Jim & Marcia Brewer (Ohio)

When we arrived, Mike, the Innkeeper helped us decide where to have dinner after showing us his collection of the menus from the local places. After an excellent dinner we came back and relaxed in the hot tub! The room was beautiful and bed was very nice. Plenty of room for two :) In the AM he made an excellent breakfast for us and even accomidated our gluten free request to the fullest extent! We enjoyed visiting with the other couples as well. We'll be back the next time we're in Pacific City~

This is an excellent B&B. Beautiful room, beautiful house. The breakfast was super, and there are a number of interesting restaurants nearby. The neighborhood is not too interesting, and neither is Pacific City, but otherwise an fine experience.

Mike and Laura were more than accommodating and provided us with suggestions of where to go and what to do while in Pacific City. The B&B was a lovely place to stay, and the food was exceptional! When I heard that breakfast was included, I was expecting cereal and bagels. We got waffled french toast, stratta, and other delectable food. It was like we were at a gourmet breakfast place. Mike and Laura have done a fantastic job renovating the Craftsman beautifully! I'd definitely stay here again!

It truly is a Craftsmans place, with lots of artistic work done by the owner himself. Fun to see his personal touches, enjoy the comfortable, spacious room and be only quarter of a mile from the beach. His breakfasts were not only good but pleasingly presented and his 'make your own cup of coffee whenever you want at a strength you prefer' were wonderful. He knew a lot about the coast and gave us good tips about where to go and places to eat. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone who likes the coast, being pampered and appreciates a wood artist to boot!

This is a beautiful place to stay, and great value! The house itself is absolutely gorgeous - the architectural details inside are fantastic, and it is so clean and comfortable. The innkeeper is great - he cooks an impressive breakfast and makes the best coffee ever. I had no idea you could get so much for such a reasonable price. Thank you!

This B & B was very comfortable and friendly. The innkeepers are fun people with excellent hospitality and interesting backgrounds. They have accomplished so much with transforming the house into a historical retreat. The furnishings were true to the period. This was the perfect winter escape along the coast, with a handful of art galleries and good restaurants. I know we will be back enjoy their craftsman home and thoughtful amenities.

My wife and I visited the Craftsman Bed and Breakfast on our honeymoon. It was perfect - it was unseasonably cold and stormy the entire time, so we had a great excuse to stay inside and enjoy the sounds of the wind and rain outside. Our room was quite large ('the prairie room') with a absolutely massive bathroom and claw foot tub. The room also had a small adjoining deck. Our room and the house were very tastefully decorated in a somewhat modern-meets-classic style ('classic and clean') though the house was completely remodeled to match it's 1930's craftsman history - one of the two inn keepers is a woodworker. Overall, the space was very comfortable to be in. Lots of small touches 'made' the trip. Brownies when we showed up, exceptionally good breakfast, constant offers of coffee or espresso, new wineglasses in the room in the morning, even though we had brought wine from the wedding and hadn't purchases a bottle from the inn; a bag of cookies to eat on the road after we left... and genuinely cheerful innkeepers! Oh - a business card with our keys, so if anything happened to us in town, we could call the house, and arrange for a ride home, information on the local area, or possibly bail from jail. The best bit - there isn't a doily in the house. This isn't a B and B for the doily crowd - it will work well for couples looking for a fair-priced, classy, well run getaway spot on the coast. At only two hours from Portland, it's only a stone's throw to most of the Oregon coast area. The owner's commitment to green practices and offsets is admirable as well, but isn't ''in the way of the experience" at all.... there are no posted signs or speeches about recycling, and you don't have to turn the compost pile before you get breakfast... you just know that the owners take a scooter when possible over a car to save fuel... which is nice. Highly recommended.

I work for a well known company in Hillsboro, OR. The company is known to be a highly stressful place to work. I was well into a planning period and myself and a co-worker decided that we would need a break after it was done. I got online and started searching for B&B's to stay at. I came across The Craftsman. When we arrived, Mike greeted us at the door and showed us to our room. When I walked into my room, I was amazed. The pictures I had looked at online didn't do it justice. The room was beautiful. I stayed in the Prairie Room and my friend stayed in the Mackintosh. Both rooms were wonderful. My bathroom had a claw foot tub which was amazing. I soaked in it each night (I actually fell asleep in it both nights). We were worried that there wouldn't be much to do because the B&B doesn't have a T.V. Well with Lincoln City only half hours drive away and the beach with in minutes, we had plenty to do. Not to mention staying up until late playing scrabble. The weekend I spent in Pacific City at The Craftsman was most relaxed I have been in a long time. I would recommend this to anyone who asked.
5 on October 28, 2009
I was burned out from working, and was greeted each day warmly by the owner. The breakfasts were delicious and the owner went out of his way to make every guest feel welcome and at home. I left feeling rested and rejuvenated. I am so glad to know there are such clean, hospitable, and friendly places too stay at in Pacific City.

We've stayed at the Craftsman many times and we plan to return often. Highly recommend the Prarie room, but after last weekend we may choose the Morris room for future stays. The breakfasts are excellent and the coffee is wonderful. Mike & Laura are also outstanding embassadors for Pacific City as well as experts on wine, Craftsman style and a variety of eclectic topics.

We stayed two nights at the Craftsman B&B and the room was very clean and the bed was awesome.Best night sleep I have had in days. The breakfast was served family style which my husband and I both enjoyed. We met the other guests and they were really great to talk too. Mike the innkeeper made the best scones I have ever had. The quality of the breakfast was by far the best . The ocean was a short walk although the sand dune you had to climb gave us a bit of a workout but it was worth it. You can't go wrong staying at the Craftsman B&B.

The Craftsman B&B is beautiful inside and out,and has been expertly reconstucted by the owner Michael. We apprieciated the "green" details and his use of previously used wood etc. as part of his rebuilding of the lovely old building. He's also a great cook, with some of the best coffee we had on our trip to the coast.

Much more than we could ever expect.

Paying careful attention to every detail, the owners' well developed sense of design and aesthetics manifests itself in all aspects of this delightful B & B. Not catering to those who look for antique dolls and doilies, this inn satisfies those who appreciate a beautifully designed stencil or inlay that are true to the Arts and Crafts movement. The owners' knowledge of "everything Arts and Crafts" make for great conversation while enjoying a gourmet meal. A truly unexpected delight!

When deciding on locations for our honeymoon we wanted to stay off the beaten path and decided to stay in Pacific City for a few days. Since it was our honeymoon we decided to have our first bed & breakfast experience. We knew that since we were a young couple that we didn't want the "typical" B&B experience with tons of lace and flowers; therefore Craftsman looked the best to suit our needs (especially my manly man of a husband's). We were both extremely nervous at first but Mike, his wife, and dog all welcomed us and made us feel very, very comfortable. It was a very positive and pleasant experience that neither one of us will forget for life. The entire house is beautiful and well-designed; Mike did an awesome job! We left sorry to end our trip and go back to the real world. Craftsman and Pacific City combined was the ultimate relaxation we needed to end our two week honeymoon; the only sad note was that we didn't get a good sunny day until our last day...but at least we got one and we're happy about that! Oh and, the meals were FREAKIN' AWESOME; MIKE'S AN EXCELLENT COOK!! There was not a single meal or baked good that we didn't like. We will FOR SURE be returning and hope to become regular guests. We're hoping to be able to afford to rent all rooms so that our kids (4 of them) could enjoy the experience with us one day. Thank you Mike for such a wonderful experience. We found the Craftsman B&B after weeding thru endless B&B's that looked like Grandma's attic... It's a real gem, with amazing 'suites', beautifully crafted throughout and the most fabulous hosts... especially Oscar! Their breakfast was to die for, and the coffee delicious! Our only regret - is that we booked for a single night... We visited a few years ago - and we still can't wait to go back!!! - Awesome.

This is a great place to stay, the owners are very nice as well as the building and the food. we are looking forward to going back some day. Pacific City is a great place to stay if you don't want stay in a place that is completely filled with tourists. the sportsmans bar (down the street) is also a great place.

We found The Craftsman B&B to be a wonderful escape from the city. Our host, Mike Rech, was attentive as could be and was magically there when we need anything. The rate is a bargain indeed for the care and attention provided. The breakfast was wonderful and lasted us all day - I highly recommend The Craftsman to anyone who desires a CLEAN, thought out, safe and cozy place to stay without an ounce of the 'Tacky' B&B feel.

Our stay was very pleasant. Mike knows a lot about the area. The location wasn't quite what we expected, since it was located right behind a motel and it was a longer walk to get to the beach than we anticipated. Our room was nice, but on the small side. It was clean and simple and Mike has done a great job with all the wood. We liked the bananas foster french toast. All in all a nice stay.

I enjoyed my stay here. The house and room were immaculate, which is important to me. The room was spacious and comfortable, and I loved the stand-alone tub. Mike and Laura, the owners, went out of their way to ensure that my stay was comfortable, and were very honest and helpful with recommendations about where to eat. I would recommend the Bistro across the street, it was very good and had an excellent wine list. Mike & Laura offer wine packages for your stay which I thought was kind of neat. Oscar the dog is on the premises, but he was well behaved and real cutie.

Michael is very accomodating, working hard to see that your needs are met. Yes the coffee is as good as everyone says. The beds are firm and comfortable. This has been a problem for us in the past since my husband has a bad back and sometimes has taken to sleeping on the floor when beds are too soft.

Mike and Laura are wonderful hosts and have done a beautiful job creating a simple elegance and special feel to each room. They have a wonderful setting and we thoroughly enjoyed the quiet setting, the long walks on the beach and good restaurant recommendations. The only thing that we would change was the water did not not seem to get really hot.

I'm late with my review and, to be fair, I didn't eat because I wasn't hungry, so I had to punt on the dining portion of the rating. If you stay nowhere else on the Oregon Coast, stay here. I picked it because it didn't have any lace doilies but the hospitality is outstanding and so is the facility. Mike, Laura and Oscar deserve all the kudos they're getting in these reviews.

My wife and I came to the Craftsman B&B for a night of well deserved R&R and also to celebrate her birthday. We chose the Craftsman due to its location on the coast in a less frequently traveled town on the Oregon coast. The service and the room at the craftsman were outstanding. We enjoyed meeting the owners and their dog, Oscar. The room was lively and large. My wife enjoyed reading a book while she sat in the tub. We also enjoyed some time in their jacuzzi. The breakfast was hearty and adequate. We very much enjoyed our time there and wish we could have stayed longer.

The house is very well done. The location is very convenient and wonderful for those new to the Oregon Coast. The family that runs the B&B are the perfect hosts and we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with the other guests, even though we were a little shy at first. Definitely a solid choice. We were very, very satisfied.

Mike and his wife Laura were wonderful hosts - very friendly and seemed quite happy to sit down and talk with guests, giving knowledgeable advise about dining in Pacific City, nearby hiking and sites, and anything we as guests inquired about. Both the setting of the B&B and the rooms are quite simple - but the rooms are comfortable and clean. No frills in the rooms (no TV, simple hooks for clothes, few chairs, no table or desk) but the bathroom is well done, the bed very adequate, and the furniture (made by Mike) results in a very comfortable stay. I would summarize by saying that the Craftsman B&B is a simple but wonderful B&B that, for people who do not demand the frills of an expensive resort, will find this B&B to be a wonderful experience. The breakfasts, produced by Mike, are top notch.

Our room was immaculately clean, well furnished (great taste!) and spacious. We loved the spacious bathroom and the all the little details (robes and flip flops for example) that Mike and Laura have added to the place. Mike and Laura are great hosts - friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Did I mention that Mike makes amazing breakfasts and that they have great coffee? The beach is just a short walk away and is unspoilt and not at all crowded. This was our first trip to the Oregon coast and we had such a pleasant experience that we will surely come back.

For those looking for non-Victorian, non-lacy, non-foofy place, this is it. I would say this is the perfect B&B for guys particularly. Nice but not flowery or over done. The Arts & Crafts movement home is hand done beautifully and Pacific City is a quiet town - perfect for a getaway to a largely non-touristy spot. We just stayed with Mike and Laura (and Oscar the Weimaraner!) and highly recommend The Craftsman B&B. The location is excellent especially if you are making your way down the coast from Portland and are looking for a great first night's stay. Cape Kiwanda is only moments away with tidepools to explore and dunes to climb. Our bed was so comfortable we succumbed to a nap shortly after arrival in the late afternoon - very cozy. Mike and Laura are very knowledgeable about wine and happy to share suggestions for visits to the Willamette Valley as well as selections from their own cellar. As other reviews have mentioned, breakfast was fantastic - definitely have one of Laura's lattes and perhaps Mike will be serving his fresh from the oven cranberry scones and outstanding Bananas Foster french toast. Did I mention they sent us on our way with a care package of brownies? We would certainly stay here again the next time we are in the area!

We have been staying at the Craftsman since it first opened. We look forward to our visits. Mike and Laura are wonderful Innkeepers. The rooms are unique and the bed is heavenly, just like home! Breakfast is always a wonderful surprise. Cookies when we arrive and cookies for the ride back home and the most wonderful coffee, can't forget the coffee! Come see for yourself.

My husband and I with a group of our friends stayed in for the Craftsman B&B for the third year in a row for an annual bicycling event. We absolutely love it! The owners/innkeepers Michael and Laura make sure every detail is perfect from the hot-baked cookies on arrival, to a perfect soak in the hot tub, a bottle of wine from their cellar, to their luxuriously-appointed rooms, and a recommendation for one of the local restaurants for dinner. Breakfast is always fantastic and will carry you through most of a day of exploring the area (be sure to have them make you a latte!) The B&B is easy walking distance to the beach, galleries and a number of restaurants. This is a tradition we plan to keep for many years to come. :)

We had an outstanding visit. Excellent wine selection. Excellent suggestion for dinner right across the street. Enjoyed sitting in the hot tub. While at our hot tub, our wine and water glasses were never left empty. The cookies sitting on the table are amazing. Those alone are worth going back. Breakfast was good. We had a great time at The Craftsman!

We spent one weekend at this fantastic B&B that is located on one of the most beautiful stretches of coast in Oregon. Charming craftsman styled home with 4 guest rooms and all have their own bath. Your hosts are fantastic and the food and coffee is absolutely a show stopper. The town of Pacific City is a small, quaint beach village that has Restaurants and shopping that are unbelievable! All around great spot for weekend escape to honeymoon.. can't wait to go back...so much to do or do nothing...either works!
