Dunbar House Bed and Breakfast Inn

271 Jones street , Murphys, CA 95247-1375 USA (Show map)

As a Bed & Breakfast it offers 6 unique rooms all with modern conveniences while maintaining an “Old World” ambiance. The lush gardens may be enjoyed from the balcony of your private room or from the first floor wrap around porch where comfortable seating is available. A game of backgammon or checkers anyone? Located in the heart of downtown, just a few short steps away from a large selection of unique shops, local award winning vineyards, wine tasting and an eclectic variety of restaurants, stroll thru the park and enjoy the sound of the creek. Enjoy a day of golf, hiking, fishing, water sports, cavern exploration, skiing, visit the Calaveras Big Trees or Columbia State park and much more, just a short drive away. You are invited to stroll through the century-old rose garden, and curl up with a book in the hammock, surrounded by soothing sounds from the trickling water fountains. It's an easy walk to dinner, art galleries, and boutiques. A stroll down tree-lined Main Street Murphys remains much the same as it was during the great Gold Rush, alongside upscale new additions. We hope to host you as our guest soon.

Best Bed and Breakfast in the Sierras

5 on February 09, 2014

Had a great stay here for New Years. The room was outstanding and the owners took care of my girlfriend and I. Will be back soon for another holiday weekend. Thank you Arlene and Rich.

One of the best B&B's

5 on December 09, 2013

This was our second visit to the Dunbar House, 1880 and we wished we had booked two nights instead of one! We will definitely return for another stay in the spring or fall...or maybe both :)

Warm & Cozy B&B

You will love staying here -- it's a lovely inn in a quaint historic town!

Coziest B&B rooms!

Excellent overall experience at this historic b and b. Beautiful setting, beautiful room, great food.

This B&B has it all!

We’ve been to many B&B’s, but none as comfortable and welcoming as Dunbar House. We felt so pampered that we didn’t want to leave. The breakfasts and appetizers were amazing, but their homemade Chocolate Decadent Cookies were heavenly! The small touches and attention to detail are what makes this B&B stand out. Thanks Rich & Arline, we’ll be back!

Enjoyed being Spoiled at Dunbar House

4.0 on April 10, 2011

We celebrated my wife's birthday over three days in early April. Booked the Cedar room midweek and had the place to ourselves. Our fabulous breakfasts were served in our room each morning and every afternoon we were greeted with appetizers and a bottle of wine from a local winery. Rich and Arline are great hosts and were very helpful in selecting restaurants and local sightseeing. Would highly recommend the Dunbar House.

24th Anniversary

4.6 on January 22, 2011

My hubby and I stayed at Dunbar to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. This was our first B&B stay, and we loved it! We were the only guests in the house our first night, so we had the whole place to ourselves for Saturday and most of Sunday. Very romantic setting at our B&B and Murphy's is a beautiful and quaint lil gold rush era town (w/tons of wine tasting rooms just a short lil walk from Dunbar House!) Arline and Rich were wonderful hosts and our breakfast and snacks were delicious. Can't wait to go back again!

A wonderful weekend

Dunbar House is everything a B&B should be. The rooms are cozy and warm, the staff are wonderful, the common spaces lovely, the numerous treats keep coming, and breakfast couldn't be better.

A Wonderful Place to Stay!

We heard this B&B was great but it was better than we had imagined. Five star breakfast and afternoon snacks, a beautiful room with every amenity imaginable and very friendly owners and staff. We can't wait to go there again!
