This was the 4th stay for members of our family. My wife and I have stayed twice (our wedding night and our one year anniversary). The most recent stay, last week, was by my father and step-mother. They were awed by the beauty of the James Lee House and room (Harrson Suite). Jose and his wife Jennifer welcomed my parents and showed them warm and exceptional hospitality. If you are in Memphis and would like a special treat, stay at the James Lee House and you will experience excellent food and lodging and be hosted by a remarkable couple who will make you feel at home.

Fabulous! Fabulous, Fabulous! To begin with, the property is beautiful and immaculate. Additionally, the accommodations, food and service were/are wonderful. Jose and Jennifer went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect in every way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will gladly recommend the James Lee House to our family and friends. Thank you Jose and Jennifer.

The James Lee House is a beautiful B & B conveniently located for the attractions of Down Town Memphis. The house is newly renovated in breath-taking style with meticilous attention to every detail to ensure a perfect stay. The hosts, Jennifer and Jose, could not have been more gracious. They made us feel like special house guests. In summary, our brief stay was a highlight of our vacation and we highly recommend a stay at The James Lee House for a special memory from Memphis.

We stayed at the James Lee House over Memorial Weekend and were very happy with every aspect of this beautiful B & B. Gorgeous interiors, newly renovated with meticulous attention payed to every detail. Peaceful and quiet. Gracious hosts, very accomodating to our needs and wishes, delicious breakfasts and afternoon wine tastings and a very short drive to all the top Memphis attractions. We will most definitely stay here whenever we come to Memphis!

The Lee Suite is our most luxurious accommodation, named after James Lee, Jr., owner and captain of the Lee Line Steamboats. The Lees were the most recent family to own the James Lee House, having purchased it in 1890 from the Goyer heirs. In the early 20th century, James Lee’s daughter, Rosa, turned the house into the James Lee Memorial Academy of Art, which later became the Memphis College of Arts now located in Overton Park. Two rooms were combined to make this a grand, spacious, elegantly furnished suite with two formerly coal-burning fireplaces and a stunning wrap around balcony that may be accessed through the original floor to ceiling windows. You will be sure to sleep comfortably on the king-sized Tempur-Choice Luxe bed made with fine linens. A Victoria Albert tub surrounded by tower windows, a state of the art steam shower with multiple shower heads, and beautiful marble tile and floors work together to provide a spa-like experience in the tower bathroom.
