Lory, mahalo for offering a wonderful stay. The Sunshine Room provided a great respite from Honolulu and a chance for us to get better acquainted with the surrounding neighborhood we plan to call home in 2019. We enjoyed crossing paths with the other guests and exchange travel notes and tips about Hilo and the Big Island. Breakfast was a treat of fresh fruits from the expansive property. Our ice cream and egg fruit seedlings are budding nicely. A gem of a property that contributed to a wonderful staycation and sort of homecoming. We look forward to soon calling Hilo home. A Hui Hou! -Richard & Kalani

We stayed in the Hawaiian Room and the views of the garden were beautiful. Lory serves fresh fruit from the garden for breakfast and know the area well (great dinner recommendations). The other guests were wonderful to chat with on the Lanai at breakfast. Close to all the activities we wanted to do in Hilo. Beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. Glad we could stay.

The room was cozy and the breakfast was a lovely mix of locally sourced fruit and freshly baked scones. The smoothie was very refreshing as well and the owners were wonderful!

We stayed at Old Hawaiian B&B one night, it was perfect, wish we could have stayed longer. Located in a residential area of Hilo, above the Wailuku river, set in a magnificent landscape of fruit trees, just minutes from waterfalls. Lory and Stewart are wonderful hosts, hospitality was exceptional. Highly recommend!!

We are from Oahu and needed a place to stay while in Hilo for a workshop. Felt as if we were staying over with a friend or relative. Excellent breakfast, quality time with Daisy and Spike, and wonderful conversations on the front deck with both staff and guests. Hoping to return again soon!
We loved having you stay with us and Daisy had a great time playing with you.

Thank you Lory for your hospitality while we stayed as your lovely B&B which was one of the best stays of our visit to your Island. Your breakfast so yummy and thank you for catering to our early starts. We definitely recommend Old Hawaiian B&B in Hilo.

We've stayed here for many years and the rooms are both great and the price is fair. This time we stayed in the Bamboo room which is a bit small but for the $ it is still a great place to stay. The location is wonderful and the breakfast is fantastic! I have and will continue to highly recommend this bed and breakfast.

Frommers Travel Guide lists the Old Hawaiian B&B as a good value and they are correct. We stayed in the spacious Hawaiian room and with it's deep soaking tub and separate shower. The soaking tub was wonderful after all the walking we did. Then to top it off you get a wonderful breakfast consisting of 3 different types of breads and many local fruits. You get to taste many of the different fruits you find in the local farmers market. Don't miss checking out the gardens you will find a lot of the fruits from breakfast growing in the yard. You have your own entrance into your room but share the common launi. There isn't a TV in your room but trust me you won't need it. After you watch the night glow of the volcano, or take in the night viewing of the stars at the observatory you are ready for bed and a good nights sleep so you can explore the wonders of the Island the next day. You will find the whole experience a way to slow down and reconnect. When you awake to the birds cooing and the smell of the flowers outside your window you know you are in heaven on earth.
It looks out over the large manicured lawn and gardens towards the Wailuku River, and is surrounded by lush green foliage. Guests have use of a microwave, refrigerator, and a large, covered shared lanai. The room includes comfortable day bed and trundle to accommodate additional guests. Large tiled bathroom affords an oversized sunken bathtub surrounded by candles for that intimate late night soak! Bathroom also has a separate shower to accommodate two! Fresh flowers adorn both the bedroom and bathroom. Children 12 and over are welcome.
The room has 10 foot ceilings, offers a queen size bed, and two sitting chairs. The Sunrise Room is mid-size between the Hawaiian Room and our Bamboo Room. Within the bedroom area is a pedestal sink, and ample closet space! Guests have use of a microwave, refrigerator, and the large, covered shared lanai where daily breakfast is served. Children 12 and over are welcome.

Stewart and I started the B&B in 2001 and have a great time running it. Hilo is a great place to enjoy the outdoors with all the waterfalls, Volcano park and flowing lava, star gazing and all the local runs. Hilo is a very local feel town, just what we were looking for, not your normal tourist town.
