Our hostess, Lory, was delightful and helpful. The breakfasts, served on the verandah, were delicious and included homemade pastries and fresh fruit platters. Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The house was in a lovely, park-like setting, and convenient for visiting the sights of Hilo and the surrounding area.

The breakfast/host/setting was wonderful! We loved how Lory picked our breakfast fruit right from her back yard.

We stayed 3 nights in Hilo for easy access to Volcano National Park. The B&B was just what we needed, a beautiful vista with lots of guide books, delicious healthy breakfasts and even a dog and cat to play with. Other guests were delightful and shared their experiences during the morning breakfast. Lory, our host, was very professional and helpful with local information. We highly recommend this B&B to travelers who enjoy meeting others.

We stayed two nights in the Hawaiian Room at the Old Hawaiian and loved our time there. The B&B is conveniently located within a 5min drive of Hilo town and the beautiful Rainbow Falls and less than an hour to the Volcano National Park. The room was lovely and bed incredibly comfortable - we had a great sleep both nights and felt fully rested for the day ahead. Lory made a great breakfast including fresh fruit from their own fruit trees and we loved meeting their dog Daisy who was adorable! (If you're not a dog person fear not as she stayed inside until we asked to meet her). We wouldn't hesitate at all staying here again.

Lory, mahalo for offering a wonderful stay. The Sunshine Room provided a great respite from Honolulu and a chance for us to get better acquainted with the surrounding neighborhood we plan to call home in 2019. We enjoyed crossing paths with the other guests and exchange travel notes and tips about Hilo and the Big Island. Breakfast was a treat of fresh fruits from the expansive property. Our ice cream and egg fruit seedlings are budding nicely. A gem of a property that contributed to a wonderful staycation and sort of homecoming. We look forward to soon calling Hilo home. A Hui Hou! -Richard & Kalani

We stayed in the Hawaiian Room and the views of the garden were beautiful. Lory serves fresh fruit from the garden for breakfast and know the area well (great dinner recommendations). The other guests were wonderful to chat with on the Lanai at breakfast. Close to all the activities we wanted to do in Hilo. Beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. Glad we could stay.

The room was cozy and the breakfast was a lovely mix of locally sourced fruit and freshly baked scones. The smoothie was very refreshing as well and the owners were wonderful!

We stayed at Old Hawaiian B&B one night, it was perfect, wish we could have stayed longer. Located in a residential area of Hilo, above the Wailuku river, set in a magnificent landscape of fruit trees, just minutes from waterfalls. Lory and Stewart are wonderful hosts, hospitality was exceptional. Highly recommend!!

Guests have use of a microwave, refrigerator, and a large, covered shared lanai. The room includes comfortable day bed and trundle to accommodate additional guests. Large tiled bathroom affords an oversized sunken bathtub surrounded by candles for that intimate late night soak! Bathroom also has a separate shower to accommodate two! Fresh flowers adorn both the bedroom and bathroom. Children 12 and over are welcome.
The room has 10 foot ceilings, offers a queen size bed, and two sitting chairs. The Sunrise Room is mid-size between the Hawaiian Room and our Bamboo Room. Stewart and I started the B&B in 2001 and have a great time running it. Hilo is a great place to enjoy the outdoors with all the waterfalls, Volcano park and flowing lava, star gazing and all the local runs. Hilo is a very local feel town, just what we were looking for, not your normal tourist town.
