We stayed in the Cardinal for 3 nights in October. This B&B was one of the top B&B’s we’ve ever stayed. Wallace and Nancy were wonderful hosts and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The breakfasts were outstanding and the fresh baked cookies were delightful. They had a very nice wine and cheese hour each night which was a very nice touch. The location was about a 15 minute drive to downtown Chattanooga. We thought it was the perfect location, a little off the beaten path but close enough to many restaurants and shopping. Alice, their pet goat was the hit of our stay! She was adorable and she knew it! We will definitely return some day and highly recommend this beautiful B&B.

Beautiful house, amazing hosts

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary weekend in September. We stayed in the Monarch room, which was large, beautiful, and had a great view of the gardens outside (where you can sometimes find the most adorable goat, Alice). The location is convenient because it's very close to downtown, but the property with all the trees and gardens make you feel more tucked away. There were two things that really set this bed and breakfast apart from any others I have stayed at. First, the innkeepers, Wallace and Nancy, are a couple of the sweetest people I have ever met. They were so gracious and easy to talk to. We had such a wonderful time talking to them, and they gave us a lot of great suggestions on things to do in the area. Second, the food is incredible! Honestly some of the best breakfast dishes I've ever had. We had pancakes with a lemon sauce that were to die for. Needless to say, we are excited for a visit in the future! -Seena Curry

Perfect Chattanooga B&B

This was an absolutely delightful bed & breakfast which is a must stay in Chattanooga! Wallace and Nancy (the purveyors of the fine establishment) were gracious hosts and great people. The rooms were very nice and the food was absolutely top notch. Wallace made a Crème Brûlée French Toast that was without exaggeration the best French Toast I’ve had in my life. Before we even finished our stay, we were talking about the next time we could come back. If you’re looking for a place in Chattanooga, look no further; you’ll love it!

Innkeeper Response
You two were a delight as guests at St Francis Cottage! Didn't know you were going to tell the world about the French Toast . . . you are too gracious. We would love to have you as guests again anytime. It is folks like you that make this a joy and not work. We hope your travel home was uneventful and that your daily travels across the country always have a happy landing! THANK YOU!!!

Great Birthday Weekend

Wallace & Nancy were so welcoming and loved talking to them. The breakfast they cooked for us was five star. So, good. The house and rooms are wonderful. They have a great eye for detail. Everything was great. The grounds are beautiful and we really enjoyed Alice the goat. Thank you guys and hope to be back soon.

My husband and I are frequent travelers and have stayed in many 5 star accommodations but this B&B is the BEST of all. Although the location is in the city close to shopping, museums and anynactivitynyounwould want it is like you are in a country setting being surrounded by trees and beautiful gardens. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. We had a breakfast that was beyond words. The hosts Wallace and Nancy are gracious and very welcoming. This facility would be great for special events such as weddings or reunions since there are huge gathering spaces both inside and outside. We certainly will return and will recommend to others.

Superb Respite!

We were looking for a place to get away for a short break from busy schedules (only had one night), so we wanted something close. The owners/innkeepers (Nancy & Wallace) couldn't have been more gracious and hospitable. Our room was fantastic ... beautiful decor .... spacious. The breakfast was outstanding .... delicious and a beautiful presentation. We have visited several B&B's through the years, and this is one of the best. We'll definitely go back!

Unforgettable weekend

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the St. Francis. The idyllic setting, inviting accommodations and the gracious hospitality of our hosts blended perfectly to create an unforgettable weekend. One of the many features that we especially appreciated was the individual room temperature control, a rarity in B&B's.

Great Place to stay

We stayed here for a night last week. Rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. Atmosphere was very welcoming and the food was fabulous. The setting is very surprising, as you are in a city, but feel as if you are in the country. Gardens are very soothing. Great place to go and relax

the right place to go

I don't think my wife and I have ever stayed at a B&B more carefully thought through at every level--the amenities you can think of provided, and some you wouldn't even. Lovely room to stay in, lovely house to house them, lovely grounds, warm & friendly innkeepers, delicious and generous breakfast. These people know what they're doing.

Amazing food and lovely room

We were there the weekend of May 20th and had a wonderful time. The room was enormous with a freestanding tub and lovely view of the backyard. We had breakfast on the spacious back porch and the food just kept coming. Everything was delicious and elegant and you could tell that Wallace and Nancy really cared about taking care of their guests. There were treats in the afternoon and evening and gatherings in the common area with the other guests. But the breakfasts... we didn't eat lunch either day! I'm not sure we will ever have such a feast again, I guess we will need to go back!

About the innkeepers

Over the past 12 years, we have considered many options regarding our "retirement." After much prayer, research, and ongoing encouragement from family and friends, we kept coming back to the idea of constructing a bed-and-breakfast on our home place. We love meeting people, learning about their journeys, cooking together for others, organic gardening, and pursuing artistic projects. It's been an adventure and we are excited about living our "Golden Years" as innkeepers of St Francis Cottage.
