Anniversary Heaven!

My husband and I have stayed at Prospect Hill four times in our 25 years of knowing each other. My husband asked me to marry him in front of the fire in the Carriage House on the property. We are heading there this Friday for our 23rd anniversary and are so excited! The food is unbelievable and the atmosphere is exceptional!

Sharing my "next life chapter"....

4.6 on October 10, 2013

In late August I was making a life-changing move from NJ to NC so I wanted to make the trip special as I was sharing it with my youngest daughter who flew up to make the trip with me. This inn was the perfect choice for a stop on the way to my next life chapter. Everything about it was lovely including the staff, the owner, the inn and its grounds and the food. We felt quite welcome and "embraced" during our stay. If you want to feel special, this is the place!

Wonderful Experience at Prospect Hill

My husband and I loved the historic atmosphere of this inn. It has been an inn since the Civil War and before that was a plantation home. The same family lived here for generations until not too long ago, and their interesting stories and those of former slaves and servants who lived here--are featured in the rooms. The cuisine was so far above superior the five-star rating seems insufficient. All members of the staff were gracious and friendly. The innkeeper himself was not only the same, but was also informative and helpful. We are looking forward to visiting Prospect Hill again.

Still Our Favorite B&B

4.6 on February 24, 2013

My wife and I just spent another wonderful long weekend at Prospect Hill. Sanco Pansy’s Cottage is delightfully secluded, the fireplace burned warm and bright (keep a window open a “hair”), and the breakfasts (delivered to our room!) could have only been a bit better had there been a cozy on the tea pot. We love the dinners served in the main house and the gorgeous (in any season) tranquil countryside. At our request the new owners arranged for us to receive massages in our room and they have already begun to better maintain and improve the property – can’t wait to get back again!!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind comments. We also look forward to your return. And as for your suggestion, our teapots have now been cozy-ied!!

The Best B&B or Inn Experience ever!

This 1772 restored wheat plantation is the most fascinating place to be entertained. The property is naturally beautiful, the food absolutely delicious, the rooms historically interesting, and the service so gracious. We have stayed here several times in the past and wish to return very soon!

This is an amazingly beautiful property. My husband and I visited in late September and we had a wonderful time. The innkeepers were so welcoming. We felt like part of their family. My husband literally did not want to leave. In addition to the great food, beautiful quarters and gorgeous views. there are many animals including chickens, cats, dogs and horses. This was our favorite B&B on our trip and we are hoping to visit again in 2013!!!

Innkeeper Response
Thanks for your kind comments! We do hope you make it back to the plantation this year... our daughters STILL talk about dancing with an officer in full-military dress!

Romantic Getaway

Prospect Hill is one of our favorite places to get away to, located in Virginia wine country and not far from Charlottesville. The Sheehan family knows what hospitality really is and makes their guests feel very welcome. Wine and dessert is in your room when you arrive. We have stay in the Summer's Kitchen at least four times or more very cozy and comfortable. The stand out of this inn is dinner. Everyone eats together and the food is excellent!!!! We have never ever had a disappointing dinner or breakfast. We will always keep coming back!!! AP/LP Suffolk VA

A Wonderful Way To Spend The Weekend!

5 on September 23, 2009

Like many people, my husband and I lead extremely busy lives. Prospect Hill was a delight from the moment we walked in. It was truly relaxing. The food was fabulous. The rooms were clean and well decorated. Beds were unbelievably comfortable, which is essential for us. Wow, breakfast in bed. Can't remember the last time I had breakfast in bed. We took our time and walked the grounds. We walked to the pond and just sat on the bench in a hurry to do nothing but enjoy the scenery. Headed back again this weekend for a different kind of trip. It will be our hub for other activities, such as golf and a college football game. I was hoping to have time for the vineyards and Monticello, which was what we did on our first trip. I think that next time will visit downtown Charlottesville at Christmas time. There are tons of museums. Well, today is Wednesday. Just a couple more days to go. Hope everyone reading this post enjoys Prospect Hill as much as I do.
