Enjoy a stay in Charleston's #1 Bed & Breakfast inn! Southerners have lived on this historic property since 1810. We're Charlestonians who will treat you like family and help you have a wonderful time. We limit ourselves to a very small number of guests so we can provide concierge service, including acclimation rides in the Historic District so you can see all there is to visit, fabulous dining, wonderful antique and art galleries, incredible history. We will arrange your walking tours with licensed professional guides, carriage rides, lunch and supper reservations, trips to the Plantations, and visits to the historic homes. Each morning you'll savor Charleston specialties like grits and crab cakes, lemon blueberry pancakes, grilled salmon with a sherry honey glaze and fresh corn, parmesan grilled tomatoes, brown sugar corn muffins, cheese biscuits, fresh fruit, and so much more. There is a reason we're rated #1. Come see us and we'll make Charleston everything you hoped it would be!

Given our interest in antiques and history Charleston has become our favorite vacation spot. Ms. Vaughn gave us a tour of the antique and art sectors to help us plan efficient use of our time. After taking in all the local history we then retire to Ms. Vaughn's comfortable historic home. Except for Uber and cell phones we are able to experience, virtually unabated, that period when the basics of family, faith, and courtesies were fundamental to southern living. And in the morning be prepared for a marvelous breakfast that is better than you'll find in the restaurants! Thank-you dear Vaughn. You are a blessing to my wife and me! Brooks in Nashville

My wife and I recently visited Charleston S.C. for the first time, even though we were both born in the South, myself in Texas and my wife in Tennessee. Charleston has become one of our new favorite cities. Ms. Vaughan is a gem, and I might add a wonderful coo!. I hope to be able to come back one day soon. We weren't there long enough to experience all that Charleston has to offer.

Beautiful and inviting home. Vaughn is so welcoming, helpful with recos and suggestions and full of southern hospitality- but not intrusive- she lets you do your thing. Her breakfasts are to die for! You won't leave hungry! Location is excellent- capable walking distance to historic market, French quarter and King street shopping district - far enough away to not be in the traffic, noise and bustle of those areas.
Elegant antiques, a Charleston Rice bed with velvet top, and oriental rugs highlight our rooms, each of which has a spacious private bath. Some rooms have pull-out sleeper hassocks that make a twin bed, and others have a sleeper sofa perfect for a child or teen. Let's discuss your needs, we are eager to make you happy!

If you are flying in, we recommend Seven Star Luxury Cab at 843.900.1000. If you are driving from the airport, come down I-26 toward downtown. Take the Meeting Street Exit. Come down Meeting Street and go through 4 stoplights. Turn left onto Charlotte St. 22 Charlotte Bed & Breakfast is down 2 blocks, sitting on the corner of Charlotte St. and Alexander St. Look on the left for the big two-story green house with beige trim and two big front porches. There is a black wrought iron fence along the front. Our gate has a gold lyre on it. Parking is in the back, behind the main house. Enter our parking area from Alexander Street. Pull far forward and move tightly to the far right or far left, so someone may park behind you and beside you. Our driveway holds 4 cars, so please don't park in the middle of all 4 spots! You are welcome to use the back door if you are parked there, or if you are coming by cab, just come the front door on Charlotte Street. We look forward to greeting you!

I became an innkeeper after retiring from my medical sales company after 15 years. It's nice to be able to be home all the time now instead of traveling the the Carolinas and the entire east coast. I have a wonderful son who is a cadet at The Citadel, the Military College of SC, here in Charleston.

Lowcountry Grits and Crabcakes with Homemade Cheese Biscuits
Seafood is a way of life in Charleston, where trawlers dock daily with scrumptious shrimp, crab and fish. Our crabcakes are the perfect compliment to yellow grits and homemade biscuits. Most people don't eat lunch after our big Southern breakfast, the best in Charleston!
