The room was beautifully quaint and quiet. The people make you feel like family. It was a great experience and very close to my reason for being in Winnsboro. Going to make it my my permanent destination.
Thank you for your gracious words, and so happy to hear you enjoyed yourself enough to want to come visit again. My Mother always told me if you treat family like guests and guests like family you will rarely go wrong. That wonderful lady has gotten wiser and wiser the older I get. Thank you and please travel safely!

Best location for an overnight business stay in Winnsboro. This was my second visit and was just as pleasant as my first. Always peaceful, always friendly, and the breakfast is always superb. A real nice break from the big chains and highly recommended.
Thank you so very much for the great review. Returning guests are always a boost for our spirits. Especially when they take the time to leave such positive feedback. Look forward to seeing you again. Please travel safely!

We came to town for a concert at the Bowery Stage, and a local friend recommended this B&B. It was in walking distance of the concert, and we had a great breakfast the next morning. The rooms were nicely furnished and comfortable. Only complaint from my husband was the train noise all night, which isn’t something they don’t have any control of. Would definitely recommend it.
Thank you for your kind review. We host most of the musicians playing on the Bowery Stage as well, so it's not unusual for our guests to have breakfast with one of their favorite "stars"! I do wish the train horn blowing wasn't there, but that is small town and given the alternative of a crossing accident, one we tolerate. Some people like the train because it reminds them of a pleasant memory growing up. Some not so much. :-)

We had a 2 bed room in one of the outer buildings which was spotless and comfortable. Arrived in the dark about 7PM and the steps by the curb are not lit so took a bad fall. The porch lights work well for the steps at the house, but are pretty well blocked by bushes and are too far away for the 2 curbside steps. Owner seemed not interested next morning when I mentioned it before breakfast and I suggested a light there. So watch your step. Breakfast was served when you arrived and a nice change from a cold buffet. Lady who serves the breakfast was delightful. Enjoyed sharing the large long table family style with the other guests.

We enjoyed our stay there, had a room with 2 double beds. Breakfast was served very nicely in the dining room, cooked once you arrived. Friendly lady who took care of us. I had one problem, the steps next to the curb are not lit and have bushes there as well that block any ambient light, so I took a bad fall when I couldn't see that there were 2 steps, not one. They need a light there, but when I brought it up to the owner, he didn't seem particularly interested in either putting lights there or if I was OK.

First the folks that run HH are so nice and accommodating, they made our stay great from the time we arrived. The house is located within walking distance to downtown and there you will find restaurants, shopping and a first class spa, all staffed by amazingly friendly people. Highly recommend this town and the HH for a weekend getaway or family gathering as they have allot of capacity.

This was my first experience at a B&B and I was not disappointed. The owner called me himself to make sure I was okay because I was running behind schedule on my drive from Dallas. The food was fresh and delicious - they cater your time needs and any dietary restrictions you might have. The staff was very friendly and available even when I just had a silly question. The room was very charming and I felt very much at home. I would stay again given the chance to.

We were disappointed in our stay. Our room was not particularly clean (trash under a chair, a dog jumping on sofa and bed, dead bugs and webs in some corners). It was a suite, but I wasn't sure why it was a suite except there was a short hallway to the bathroom (which didn't have a regular door) and an outside entrance (but no path from it to the front). We didn't get breakfast because we needed to leave before it was served at 9:00 a.m. Yes, very disappointed. The owner was friendly, however.

Thank you for your review reflecting our inn-sitter while we were away on a much needed vacation. Hopefully when you return, we, the owners, will be on-site and the items you rated poorly will be improved upon. It is very difficult to getaway from a business you are married to, but after doing this for 18 years, it is something we love. Bless you and yours.

An evening at the Hubbell House was like a trip back in time! The bargain price allows access to a quaint downtown of small shops with a variety of local restaurants that offered excellent service. The breakfast at Thee Hubbell House was phenomenal! The cheery family run business is on our list of "must return" places.
We appreciate your visit and taking time to leave feedback. We certainly try to make guests feel like family and hope you do return to visit again in the not too distant future. All the best to you and a happy new year! Tim and the crew

This place is so peaceful and relaxing! The cottage behind the house is awesome and we can't wait to stay again! Breakfast was delicious with several proteins, great coffee and fresh juice, served in a formal dining room full of beautiful antiques. A+
Thank you for your kind review. We certainly do try to make every guest's experience as positive as yours, so it is very refreshing when we "get it right". We seem to have a very good team assembled now and things are going so much better. Again, thank you for the kind words and taking the time to express your valuable input. I stayed at Thee Hubble House for business and brought my mother and spouse along. The staff was incredibly attentive, the grounds were gorgeous and the convenience to local amenities, was spot-on! I absolutely adored Miranda; if able, I'd have stolen her, for my own! If you're looking for a "home away from home", Thee Hubble House is it! You will relax as if you're own home.
Thank you very much for your positive feedback. Our guests comfort is our #1 priority. Our goal is for you to feel Thee Hubbell House is classy, but also warm & fuzzy. Few people are comfortable if your establishment is like a museum. We like the antiques to be used and always want you to feel you are at home. Appreciate you and hope you will visit again.

We stayed only one night at this beautiful, historic two-story home. We stayed in the Governor's room. It was spacious, comfortable and quiet. The property's grounds are as interesting as the house. It's located 2 short walking blocks to Winnsboro's Main Street. A great meal was had at Lie Fie de vine, a South African restaurant with a fascinating menu. After dinner there was a street concert going on that was fabulous. The breakfast did not let us leave hungry...eggs, pancakes, everything. Outstanding 'getaway from the big city'. We will return and bring some others with us.

I stayed at the Hubbell House one night in March 2016. I had the aptly named Rose Room. The room was clean and very quiet. There was plenty of space, plus a large TV. Rhonda, one of the innkeepers, was extremely friendly and attentive and made sure I got everything I needed. I would stay here again - and recommend it to a friend - without hesitation.

We have stayed in many bed & breakfasts, but none have been as warm and accommodating as this one. It was like visiting Grandma's house but Tim's breakfast is better! All our needs were anticipated or promptly met with a smile. So glad we found this place in a great little town!
4.6 on December 01, 2015
We enjoyed the house and all of the beautiful antiques. Tim and Johnny were attentive and gracious hosts. The only issue we had was the very loud train that passed closely by in the middle of the night, and the loud clock that chimed on the half hour and the hour, situated right outside our room.
4.2 on November 11, 2015
Thee Hubbell House was a very comfortable and welcoming place to stay. It was like staying at grandma's house - quaint and charming. The owners were welcoming and were helpful when needed and also gave us lots of space. The only thing I didn't particularly like is that we were there for 3 days and the breakfast was exactly the same all days. A little variety, or an offering of toast, muffins or cinnamon rolls would have been nice.
I apologize for the pancakes every morning. We usually try to alternate between pancakes and toast, or have both available, when a guest stays more than one night. Your stay kind of slipped through the tracks because of you overlapping on each end with other guests requesting pancakes. Appreciate your input and will thy to be more attentive to our longer staying guests and variety offered. Thank you for the input.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful historic home. We were attending a funeral in Winnsboro and needed a place to stay for one night on very short notice. We picked the playhouse as it afforded us seclusion and a king-sized bed. The bed was very comfortable. The playhouse did not contain the lovely antiques that the main house contained. Please note that the rooms are small and full of furniture. If you need room to play, they have an enclosed swimming pool as well as a patio with lawn furniture to enjoy the great outdoors. The bathroom was a bit small and the "two-person" shower was the size of a normal sized bathtub with siding glass doors. It had small seats at each end and could accommodate two small people in it. The breakfast was nice but was not true southern cooking. The host was very gracious and worked very hard to meet all of our needs. The Hubbell House is steeped in history and if you are a fan of historical events, the host is more than happy to share the history of the house with you. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend staying here if you ever find yourself in Winnsboro.

The room was nice. We picked "the pink room" because we wanted to stay in the mansion. The window unit helped cool the room but was loud. The bed was extremely uncomfortable in there though!- We felt welcome & the owner certainly doesn't bother you & tells you to call him if you need anything- The breakfast was amazing the next morning! Delicious eggs, fluffy pancakes, crisp bacon, & OJ & coffee. The house is beautiful as are the grounds. The owner gave us a 10% off for a local restaurant for dinner. Overall very nice experience for these first time B&Ber's:)

The place is just about perfect. We were going to a party near by and did not feel like driving back to Shreveport so we booked a room without knowing what it would be like. It was awesome. Everyone was super friendly and made sure we had what we needed. The best part was swimming at 10pm and we had the pool all to ourselves. Breakfast was great and we met lots of friendly people. We had a nice stay at Thee Hubbell House. We were lucky and had the whole place to ourselves. The pool was very nice and well-maintained. The breakfast was nothing special and in fact was disappointing. The scrambled eggs were too runny, and the OJ was very watery. Overall, though, it was a nice weekend getaway.
5 on July 17, 2013
We visited Hubbell House to attend a wedding being held on the grounds. I was a little hestitate as I'm not really a "B&B" kind of person. Our stay was fantastic and the wedding went off perfectly. The hosts were there when you needed them, which was rare, but otherwise left you to your privacy. I would highly recommend this location for a romantic weekend getaway. We stayed in the Carriage House and loved sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch. I can't do justice describing the grounds and the pool, but they are amazing. Great country feel; I'm just sorry we didn't get to enjoy the breakfast!

we have never stayed in B&B before this trip. I set up 3 different B&B at each leg of the trip. Thee Hubble House was 3rd on our 657 mile motorcycle trip. I must say I was pretty amazed. Upon arrival the grounds are beautiful to view & the parking was great - our motorcycles were safe and away from public view. We were welcomed and told we could check out the main house & any of the unoccupied rooms at our leisure. The breakfast was delicious and served in the main dining room on antique china! We stayed in one of the carriage house rooms. Our room was a little smaller than expected, but it was very comfortable and quiet. The town was pretty quiet for a holiday weekend, but we did arrive late afternoon on a Sunday. There is a lot of history in Thee Hubble House and we will definitely stay there again - we plan to stay in the main house next time.

My fiance and I live many hours apart because of our jobs and we decided to "meet in the middle". After a little research, we chose Winnsboro for its promise of being a burgeoning artsy town. There were some options of bed and breakfasts, but we chose Thee Hubble House. We were not disappointed. Tim and Paul and, I believe Tim's son, were wonderful hosts. Our special breakfast requests were cheerfully taken care of (not to mention the pancakes were delicious), and when normal checkout time was upon us, we were invited to stay as long as we wanted, which was wonderful, because my fiance and I were going separate ways when we left Winnsboro. I could not have asked for a better Valentine's weekend, and we will definitely be returning.....
5 on February 05, 2013
We had three rooms in the carriage house. The rooms were comfortable and very clean, and the beds were great. The rooms are small but cozy and perfect for relaxing. Tim changed his usual weekend schedule to accomodate us and had our yummy breakfast ready for us early. I would stay here again with no hesitation.
4.6 on January 23, 2013
We stayed at Thee Hubbell house weekend of 1/18 and had the place to ourselves. It is a southern charm home with excellent management that is there only when you need them! The breakfast is elegant and worthy of a Southern Living cover. They have a great cable TV set up - lots of channels - and the historic part of the town is just a short walk to the east. If I had any complaint, it would be the mattress was uncomfortable - but I am very picky and don't like most mattresses at other hotels and B&Bs. If I were to rate this weekend's stay on a 10 scale - would give it a 9. The hosts are eager to please and the grounds are quite romantic.

Winnsboro itself is a winsome town; Thee Hubbell House too has clearly experienced "you win some" but now seems to be going through a "you lose some" phase. The main house had a very, very strong stale/musty smell; the accomodations we chose for their advertised "coziness" were more aptly described as cramped; towels were noticeably frayed, floor mat worn and thin and the cockroach that shared the bathroom was appropriately Texas-sized and HUGE! All that to say, the property has GREAT POTENTIAL, the two male hosts accomodating and interested in guest satisfaction; we look forward to hearing of improvements so that we may in turn encourage others to visit.
I am so disappointed this guest had a bad experience. Never has anyone ever mentioned a musty smell in the mansion. Too much orange glo? My biggest regret is the guest mentioned nothing when here so I could have addressed the problems and I certainly would have. I always tell my guest to let me know, and we have upgraded and moved guests to a more appropriate room when displeased with their current accommodation, or they do not have to pay for their room. We pay dearly to keep pests eliminated by the #1 pest control company, and are diligent looking for any that may get in when preparing a room for a guest arrival.

I have stayed at many B&B's and I do believe this was my best experience. Tim, the owner, told me his Mother always told him "you can never go wrong by treating guests like family and family like guests". He does happen to pull it off. We really did feel the warmth and appreciation of our visit. We felt at home. Such a beautiful, historic property and so convenient to the great downtown. No matter where we were if we had a question, we felt comfortable calling him and he never seemed too busy to help. I can highly recommend this place to anyone wanting peace and relaxation (and great food).

My wife and I were looking to have a weekend away in a place we could relax and forget about everything. And we found such a place in Winnsboro. The Hubbell House is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy of very quiet and peaceful town. The gardens are very pretty and there is plenty of room to sit and read. The attention is outstanding, Tim would not bother you at all during your stay. However, he is always behind the scenes, just one phone call away if you need help. The breakfast is delicious and promptly served at 9:00 am! For us this was great because we did not have to wake up that early. The Hubbell House has wi-fi and cable which makes it very convenient if you absolutely needed those services. There are restaurants, a cafe and antique shops and a convenience store within walking distance of this place. This was our first time there and Lord willing we will be back in the summer time. We enjoyed this place so very much. Tim's attention surpassed our expectations, we definitely recommend this B&B.

My family and I stayed for fun and were really pleased. Our room was really pretty and we loved the swing and the rocking chairs on the porch. We spent the afternoon roaming around town, where we found some real treasures! Winnsboro is a very nice quaint town with a restored downtown area that is made for walking around and exploring. We were hot and tired when we returned to the inn, so we really enjoyed the swimming pool. It was a peaceful, private retreat. Very pretty area and well maintained. The innkeepers were not hovering, but addressed what few needs we had (such as more towels for the pool) and were very friendly. Breakfast was delicious and presented on a beautifully set formal table. We felt really special! We would definitely return!

I was promptly met by my host. The off street parking was awesome. The room was perfect. It felt like home. My host made sure I knew I was welcome to use the pool at any hour. The curtain in the front window emitted to much light during the night time. The TV remote did not work. The refrigerator was noisy.
I certainly wish this guest had mentioned these items when I could and would have responded to correct them. Batteries run out in remotes. We often turn off the security light outside guests rooms (25 watt bulbs) or the guest do themselves. I always tell my guest to please feel free to contact me if they need anything....if I don't hear from them I can only assume they are happy.

The rooms in the Carriage House were very comfortable and quaint. I felt like I was in my Grandmother's beautiful yard. Old beautiful trees and the pond on the grounds added charm and ambience. I did feel that the grounds could have been just a little tidier. The pool was a fabulous touch; plenty of patio furniture for comfort. Again, the area around the pool could have used a little more attention. The breakfasts were scrumptious and we had fabulous service and pleasant conversation with Sarah. We enjoyed having the view of the main home and antiques; very interesting historical home and carriage house. We did want to watch a dvd Friday night just to relax and the dvd player in the media room didn't work. A dvd player in each room could really be a nice touch. All in all, a very economical, interesting and pleasant stay in East Texas!! We will visit Hubbell House again!
