The Erbstuck homestead, a working ranch, now offers its completely restored log and rock home, circa 1850, to guests as a Hill Country getaway. Guests will find country serenity with a historical ambiance. Visitors can get a true glimpse of pioneer life while enjoying antiques, western decor, and a nice collection of western art. The owners, descendants of the original settlers, will be happy to share the history of the homestead if requested. Our Champion Angora goats, other livestock, wildlife (deer, birds, rabbits, fox and coyotes), and wide open spaces complete the Erbstuck experience. Located only twenty miles from Fredericksburg, this country setting is the perfect complement to a day in town. After enjoying shopping, dining, wine tours, etc. remove yourself from the hustle and bustle of the city to a quiet evening outside overlooking the seasonal creek behind the house, and later, unsurpassed star gazing.

Four of us spent a lovely weekend at Erbstuck Ranch. The B&B is a separate house on the property and has a really fascinating history. The house is charming and has every amenity you could want or need - comfortable beds, a wonderful back porch with rocking chairs, a creek and fire pit. Each morning a delicious breakfast was provided as well. It was fun to visit the goats and llama and a sweet little dog who join us on the back porch for a little cheese and conversation. We pan to make Erbstuck Ranch an annual sabbatical in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Four of us spent a lovely weekend at Erbstuck Ranch. The B&B is a separate house on the ranch and has quite a fascinating history. The facilities were charming and a delicious breakfast was brought to us each morning. The back porch, complete with rocking chairs, has a lovely view of the back yard with a stream and fire pit. Our hosts were gracious and attentive, and we plan to make this an annual sabbatical to the beautiful Texas Hill County.

Our family of four (kids ages 5 and 2) booked a weekend getaway from Austin, and Erbstuck Ranch exceeded all our expectations! The porch was so peaceful, the house is impeccably cared for and full of history, and the hosts were incredibly accommodating. My kids loved meeting all the animals, walking along the creek, and having smores by the fire. Jane offered the perfect combination of privacy and hospitality and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. One thing to note about the layout of the house is that the bathroom and the bedroom with the bunk beds are accessed from the back porch. It's a short, covered, private walk outside, but the bunk bedroom isn't ideal for very young children since it's separate from the rest of the house. With that in mind, I'd highly recommend this house for a unique and memorable getaway for kids and adults alike!

This is our second year back to this BNB. We love the ranch, love the house, love Jane, the owner, love the dog, goats, lama, deers, horse, etc. And mostly this time, we fell in love with the baby Gretel - a sweet baby goat. I always like to explore new places, so I rarely like to visit the same place twice. But Erbstuck is an exception. We (my husband and me, my daughter 10 and son 6) love the peaceful life on the ranch, being woke up by bird chirping. I love drinking coffee at the porch while kids went crazy feeding the baby goats. These are the most beautiful goats! They are super clean and friendly. My kids had a great time feeding them. First night we arrived, we were served fajita meal. Ted, Jane's husand was so kind to get us some nice meal after a long day journey. They know we always arrive late and we don't have energy to go out to eat. Much appreciated it! The driving on the ranch and in and out of the ranch, we will see lots of deers, cows, donkeys, skunk, road runner, emu, etc. I felt that I am in a safari. if you come in Spring time, tons of baby deer and baby cattle. Mostly, Jane made the best coffee cake, My kids said that it is the best breakfast they have ever had. It made me very sad being their mom. lol. The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated. There are three bedrooms, one queen, one king and the third bedroom has two sets of bunkbeds, which can sleep 4, so this house comfortably sleeps min 8 people.

We all very much enjoyed our stay at Erbstuck Ranch. The accommodations were comfortable and roomy and the décor in keeping with the interesting history of the house. Our hosts were most gracious, helpful and informative. We enjoyed visiting with them and learning about the Angora sheep and their other critters. Look forward to another visit when in the area.

This is a very nice working ranch. Your rent the house, but felt like that you rent the entire ranch as there is only one guest house at the ranch. Hiking on your own pace along the small creek, their dog Henry will sometime showed up and followed you. We enjoyed our stay and wished that we stayed at minimum of 3 nights. The house is nice and clean, bed is very comfortable and beddings are new. We have enjoyed chatting with the owner about her kids - the baby goats, and loved help her feeding the animals. My 9 year old and 5 year old had so much fun holding the baby goats, and playing with the owners dogs. The owner also allowed us to feed her animals, we loved it. We felt like home with the owners so kind and friendly. In the evening when it gets dark, you will see the stars. We lit the camp fires, my kids enjoyed the smore's and we, adults, enjoyed resting, chatting with the owner. It was very relaxing. The next morning, woke up and saw the horses, hearing the bird chirping. you have the fun with animals, you will also be able to enjoy the quietness and get very relaxed. On the way in and out of the ranch, we saw deer, turkeys, emu, road runners, and even skunks The only thing I don't like is the bathroom which is not assessable from the master bedroom. But the bathroom is very nice, so it did not bother us much.

We loved the location and it's remoteness. Perfect for a nice quiet weekend. Jane, Kyle, and Ted were awesome. A beautiful home in a wonderful setting. A great place for two couples or a family to go.

Every nook was a story that unfolded as we stayed here. So graciously and thoughtfully decorated, memories that we always cherish. Special thank you to Kyle who was the perfect host. We felt cared for every minute. Breakfast was yummy and the beds were heavenly!! Good luck and best wishes! We look forward to returning back soon to make more memories.

Jane Smith and Kyle Miller
Jane Smith, a retired teacher, moved to the family homestead in 2009 and founded Erbstuck Ranch. Quite a challenge it was as the ranch had been unoccupied for over 20 years! Since her arrival, many improvements had been made, including the restoration of the rock house, which is now the bed and breakfast. In 2015, Jane's son Kyle Miller relocated as well to continue the restoration efforts and run the ranch. The original pioneers would be proud of their descendants' accomplishments.
