After our incredible wedding weekend a few hours away, we drove up, happy and exhausted, to the Inn for four nights (Mon-Fri) and stayed in the Diadem Suite (formerly the master bedroom). Our week was perfect. This suite allowed ample space for luxurious relaxation. The breakfasts were exceptional (thank you Beau and Margaret!). Our fellow guests were a delight. The service always exceeded expectations - truly outstanding. The onsite restaurant (Hearth & Vine) was casual and delicious (we ate their twice). The wine tasting experience onsite was generous and special. On-site massages? Yes please and thank you. We took a beautiful 1.5 mile hike on well-marked trails on the grounds. We were 20 minutes or less away from plenty of wineries and great restaurants. And we were fortunate to be there during the week of the Harvest Dinner (apparently every 2nd Wednesday): a five-course, locally sourced meal, with wine pairings for each course. WOW! The Inn, and particularly the Diadem suite, are on the pricey end, but worth it. We have already booked a return for next year in the same suite. This is a must-stay B&B destination.
Carl and Lisa were wonderful hosts. Their breakfast was terrific!.. The inn has charm indoors and out. One night we made a fire in the pit beside the pond and enjoyed the cool evening air. Thanks for the memorable stay!
The ambience, the room, the view, the other guests.........fabulous. the breakfast, as good as it gets............the owners, priceless, warm, friendly, charming, we felt right at home, we can't wait to come back, lewis and leslye rosenbaum aka lesNlew.
I wish we could give you a higher rating then 5 I would give you all 10's. You 2 have thought and planned out everything to help your guest feel at home in there stay with you. The breakfast is to die for. We stayed in the moose room and it was wonderful. We will be staying with you every time we come up to travers. Thank you some much for your hospitality. Your great people. Kevin and Sarah 10/11-12/16
Beautifully restored home, extensive woodwork. 3 common areas for guests - comfortable and pretty. Use of fridge, wine, homemade cookies, water, DVDs, books, tea - couldn't ask for more amenities. Great location - near TC and Elk Rapids. Grounds are pretty - too cool to spend anytime outside, though. Breakfasts were hearty, delicious and best of all, made with local ingredients - including some from the BandB. Hots were helpful without being intrusive. This BandB is not one of our very favorites!
We stayed here for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary and it was quite an incredible place. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Traverse City or the local area. Can't be beat.
This review is so late, but I must let everyone know how Dieter and Marion enhance your stay at Wind in the pines. We happened to be their very first guests when they took over the place. Their kindness and graciousness were abounding. They try the hardest to make your stay memorable! Sensing if you desire interaction or not, is an art, And they have it down pat. The B&B itself is home away from home. We love the rooms and the patio with a terrace backyard and a gazebo. We an spend hours just relaxing in this environment! The last time we stayed my husband had a migraine headache so we stayed in that night. Low and behold the following day's breakfast was a feast! Since they knew we were hungry, there was food in abundance. It was so sweet of them to go beyond the call of duty. I can not say enough about how happy they and their place makes us. . It is a slice of heaven!!!
The home is older but comfortable and very well updated. Scenic sunrises and sunsets can be seen from the home. Lisa is a gracious hostess and very knowledgeable about the area. She can answer virtually any question about the area and is a valuable resource for those seeking suggestions about things to do / places to go. Carl prepares superb breakfasts, primarily with locally sourced groceries, and readily accommodates dietary restrictions. Regarding food, he encourages guests to pick pears from close by trees. Just a "stone's throw" from the hustle and bustle of Traverse City, Country Hermitage B&B is a great place to relax.
This was our third visit to Country Hermitage in 15 years, and the owners have put a lot of work in over the years, adding a stream and fish pond and other touches. The breakfasts were top-notch. Cannot recommend enough.
My husband and I had never visited this area of Michigan and so our stay at the Torch Lake Bed and Breakfast was a shot in the dark. What a lovely surprise! From the warm welcome we received to the extra attention paid to make our stay extra special, Debbie and Mike could not have done a better job! The accommodations were great. We kayaked and paddle boarded on the stunningly clear Torch Lake and even braved the chilly water to swim! We warmed up in the hot tub while looking out at the beautiful view. Breakfast was sumptuous each day and we enjoyed lively conversation with the other guests. Mike and Debbie were eager to share information about what to do and where to go to get the most out of our visit to the area. We loved our visit!
So many wonderful things about the B and B. Location great which allows you to go any direction in minutes. All the extra's wonderful. Sweets in the rooms. Beverages available and helpful inn keepers. Very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was wonderful and we found ourselves eating only two meals a day. A two thumbs up choice and we would go back without hesitation.
The location is perfect...close to Traverse City but in a beautiful wooded setting. The rooms are spacious and clean. The hosts are gracious and served a truly memorable breakfast each day. We consider it to be a destination stop for us in the future.
This was the first time we tried a bed and breakfast. The entire house was beautiful! We booked the sunset room, and I think we got the best room. We loved the placement in the home, and our view was breath taking! Debbie and Mike were wonderful hosts. To top it all off, our breakfast was so delicious! We would definitely like to go back! What a great experience!
The Hermitage was a truly lovely place to stay! The whole aarea is so beautiful I really wish I could've stayed a couple more days. The hosts were quite friendly and the breakfast was absolutely DELICIOUS!! It was a quiet area and would be most beautiful during the Cherry blossom season I'm sure with the orchard in the back. The history of the house is quite interesting also. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Amanda Jo
Just returned from 3 night stay. Aboslutely 5 star across the board. Lisa and Carl are the perfect hosts who make you feel welcome in every way. Beautiful setting overlooking hills and away from traffic on U.S. 131. Beautiful, tasteful rooms spotlessly clean. Carl is an outstanding chef who created a unique breakfast each monring--often featuring the famous cherries the area is known for. You needn't look anywhere else in the area.
Best inn keepers - felt like we've known them forever. Warm & welcoming. Clean & comfortable. Janet's wonderful breakfasts....accompanied by Tom's fresh squeezed OJ and stories galore! Perfect location to be able to explore so many area attractions or just sit and swing on the porch. Lots of good places to eat, wineries & breweries to drink, stores to shop or miles of country roads to drive. Seem to have a lot of repeat clients and even some locals spent the night.
Our hosts were and helpful. Food was delicious and attractively displayed. Hosts described each entree and how they prepared it. Very interesting helpful hints about where to visit that day.
We stayed in the Pulcilher room and it was beautiful!! The bed was comfortable, the bedding beautiful and the room was very spacious!! It had a fireplace, a sitting area and large bathroom with jetted oversized tub/shower. We can't say enough about the absolutely, delicious breakfasts that were served every morning!!! Carl is a true chef and Lisa is an amazing hostess!!! They came with a bonus, Gemma, their adorable rescue dog, who just kind of hangs out and does her own thing...unless you're an animal lover who insists on giving hugs and petting her! The grounds are beautiful, flowers in planters and baskets, wrap around porch with lots of comfortable seating and views that are gorgeous!!! We enjoyed a fire by the water in the fire pit and socialized with other guests! We can't say enough about our experience, it was a memory we enjoyed making......
The Torch Lake B&B is a lovely home with comfortable, well-appointed guest rooms with million dollar views of Torch Lake, one of the prettiest lakes in all of Northern Michigan. Deb and her husband can be counted on to serve a delicious breakfast on a gorgeously set table. A large dock and deck on the lake is available for those who wish to swim or just soak up the sun.
We stayed 3 nights earlier this week. Everything was outstanding! Both Dietmar and Marion were wonderful hosts, very helpful in guiding us to restruants for dinner and site seeing in the area. The breakfasts were fantastic. So much food! Met a lovely couple and another family during the stay. This was our first visit to the area. Will be back!
This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast and it was delightful. The house is very clean and pleasant, the grounds are enchanting, with many areas for seating in peaceful settings. The hosts are helpful and hospitable, and the food was excellent.
We so enjoyed our stay, we were sorry it was only for one night. We booked at the last minute due to a change in plans which found us without a room for the night. Our hostess, Ann, was very accommodating considering we showed up an hour after our expected time of arrival. The house is beautiful and in a great location to experience the Traverse City area. The room was clean with a comfortable bed and had all the amenities we needed. There is a nice living room with a TV and we enjoyed watching a movie there later in the evening. Ann was very flexible with the time for breakfast which we appreciated. Over all we would love to come back and stay a little longer. Thanks Ann!
Dietmar and Marion are superb hosts for your stay at their beautiful home. Marion's delicious and creative breakfasts will fill you up until mid-afternoon. The bedrooms and living room/dining room are spotless. The B&B is tucked away in the pines only 5 minutes from downtown Traverse City. I've stayed here 12 times in the last 4 years, and it's the only place I consider staying at whenever I travel back to the Leelanau Pennisula.
