Loved our stay at the Yellow Rose. Rooms & beds were very comfortable. Breakfast is optional. We are avid walkers so we traveled by foot a lot. Only 10-15 minutes from the Riverwalk, St. Fernando church, some missions, and not far from the Alamo. The bus system is easy to use & inexpensive. The Yellow Rose is near some awesome local eateries. Should we return to San Antonio we will book the Yellow Rose again!

This was our second stay and we will certainly be back again. Rooms are charming and quaint. We really like staying here for the location. It is so close to restaurants, bars, and the river walk trails. King William is a charming neighborhood. Cannot vouch for the breakfast, we have always just gone out.

I was in San Antonio for a CE workshop - my first time in the city. The Yellow Rose's location - 3 blocks from the Riverwalk, close to restaurants and walking distance to the Alamo (close to where the workshop was being held in a hotel), was just right for me. The B&B itself is clean, thoughtfully "stocked" and the owners (who appear to be selling it) were helpful. "Just right"... Note: due to my schedule I did not have breakfast. My rating of dining is based on the coffee set-up and supplies.

A Yellow Rose was a delightful alternative to typical touristy hotels in San Antonio. The King William historic district is a gem and centrally located which worked well for me on my business stay. Great value and great fun. Hosts were very attentive but not nosy.

My wife and I stayed here March 31-April 2. It was a good location within easy walk of the Alamo and The River Walk. It was close to a number of small unique restaurants. We stayed in the Magnolia room, it was spacious, clean, and quiet. This B & B is unusual as it offers different price levels depending on what you choose to do for breakfast. Since we were going to be up and gone before the full breakfast was served, we chose to have coffee and juice in the morning. It worked well for us. The hosts were very accommodating and we had a pleasant stay.

Great location for easy walk to the River Walk. Beautiful neighborhood in historic area of San Antonio. Deb prepared outstanding breakfast and different for all 4 nights of our stay. It was so filling, we did not need to eat lunch. She gave great recommendations for LOCAL restaurants for dinner instead of all the chains along River Walk. House was old, but very high-quality bed linens were used. We definitely would return.

In addition to a great private room in a stellar Historic neighborhood, this B&B was in a perfect location. Easy walk to many great restaurants and cafes, as well as a great and short walk to the River and Downtown. Also close to bicycle rentals which was great for touring to the Missions. Onsite parking is not suitable for trucks but parking on the street didnt seem to be an issue.

We have traditionally chosen a B&B over a hotel because we enjoy the cozy and warm sitting rooms, tea rooms, fireplaces, etc. This B&B did not offer these traditional areas inside the residence. Instead, guest rooms are behind the main house in an attached building. Guests do not appear to have any access to the main house, which appeared quite beautiful. Now, our guest room was very large and comfortable and there was a nice sitting area out on the balcony. Continental breakfast was more than adequate for our needs and was delivered nightly to the room by wonderful staff. The location was perfect, nestled nicely in the King William District only two blocks from the River Walk. It was also only two blocks from a very convenient bus stop that made for easy access to the Alamo, the River Walk downtown, The Missions and the Zoo. The owners were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. Overall, our stay was wonderful and I would recommend Yellow Rose.

A great place to stay within an easy walking distance from the river. Comfortable bed,big bath tub and lots of down home charm! Loved our covered porch to sit during a rain storm! Well stocked refrigerator but recommend buying drinking water as the tap water is very chlorinated.

A Yellow Rose is fabulous! We stayed in the Provence room which is spacious but cozy. It was immaculately clean and the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept on. There is a microwave, fridge, tea kettle, french press, coffee and tea. It's about a 20 minute walk to the Riverwalk area, restaurants, and attractions. The neighborhood is quiet and tucked away from the business of downtown. Parking is off street behind the B&B. We will definitely stay here again if in the San Antonio area. Wonderful place, friendly owners!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay.

Great location within walking distance of all of the fun on/near the Riverwalk. Room was large, nice and clean, although a bit outdated. Recommend a second floor room as it was quite noisey on first floor with the people overhead. The full breakfast was absolutely delicious and served promptly at designated time. It would be nice if there had been bottled water in the fridge and if we had been given extra orange juice when asked. Overall positive review for price options in the lovely neighborhood.
Thanks for taking time to write a review. I'm so happy you were comfortable.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay here. Kit, one of the proprietors, was welcoming and provided excellent recommendations for restaurants In the neighborhood. Historic homes, local cafes, restaurants, the river walk, breweries, bike rentals, and bike trails are all within a short stroll of the front door. The covered porches outside each room are the perfect spot for coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. We will be staying here again any time we are in the San Antonio area.

This B&B has beautiful, uniquely decorated rooms. The neighborhood (King Williams Historic District) is very nice and great for a walk. The basic room rate includes only tea, coffee, and a can of orange juice (all available in the room), which I think is a little odd for a bed AND BREAKFAST. You can upgrade to continental and full breakfast at higher rates. All in all, I can recommend this B&B to everyone who is looking for a unique place to stay!

My husband and I stayed in the Beaudeux Room for our honeymoon and we had a lovely time. The room was beautiful with a breakfast nook and large bathroom. It was a pretty place and very clean. The owners were kind and answered all of our questions. It is within walking distance of the Riverwalk and many attractions which made it easy to get around San Antonio. I highly recommend.
Congratulations! Maybe we will see you again on one of your anniversaries. Thanks for making us part of your celebration.

Hello, we stayed in the magnolia room and really enjoyed the historic feel of yellow rose and the neighborhood. The bnb is walkable to many of San antonio's attractions and great restaurants. My husband and I stayed at the Provence Room. The decoration is lovely and it was very clean and comfortable. The host let us check in earlier than 3pm because the room was available. It is about 10 - 15 minutes walking from downtown and has free parking in the bed and breakfast or in the street. I would stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at A Yellow Rose for a couples getaway. Our room was so spacious and beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfasts were amazing! We would definitely return here....hopefully soon!

The room was great, very clean and well furnished in the historic King William district. Located near downtown San Antonio, we walked or biked to many of the local attractions. We opted for the juice breakfast, and it met our expectations. The owners were very kind. I would stay here again.
Our guests have always enjoyed walking in the neighborhood and now with so many bike rentals available many are riding instead of walking through our historic district and on the mission trail. Thank you!

The Yellow Rose B&B is a charming place to stay, The owners were so good about providing information and the breakfast that Deb provided was worthy of a five-star restaurant. We loved the Magnolia Room and the B&B pets. We will certainly stay here again.

A relaxing atmosphere and so convenient for access to the Riverwalk and many restaurants (which is why we chose to not have onsite dining). The owners were discreet in making themselves available and were extremely helpful with information of the area. We can confidently recommend the Yellow Rose as a perfect place to stay.

Let's start this off by saying this is the best bed and breakfast we have stayed in. I'm someone who likes pros and cons lists. We are going to do one now. Cons: Parking - The parking on the street in front of the B&B is a bit tough, and the spaces behind the house are even more so with little room to turn around. Since parking is not something we do often enough for this to be such a huge deal. Old Wood - The upstairs room has quite a few spots of creaking wood from the people walking around up there. It's noticeable but not to the extent that it will keep you up at night. Pros: Room - The look and feel of the room actually feels like a home. It has an older feel to it with the wood and decorations, but it is very well kept. Nothing feels cramped or out of place. Location - As the primary cause of the parking issue, the location is very close to downtown. It is a prime location for anything that you may want to do. The houses are older and look very well maintained. This entire neighborhood has character and an air of history. Food - The breakfast here was absolutely amazing! The first morning we had enchiladas with green chili sauce. There was a side of an egg omelette, fresh fruit, and splendid bread. We were looking forward to the breakfast on the second day more than we were the dinner on the previous evening. Overall this was an A+ experience for my wife and I. We have already recommended this place to all of our family and friends and will continue to do so.

We stayed here for New Years Eve night and just loved it. We were able to walk to the Riverwalk very easily (who wants to be driving on NYE?) The room was very clean and comfortable. The coffee was excellent, parking was no problem, and the neighborhood is just beautiful.

I was on a business trip (conference in downtown San Antonio) and initially chose this place for its price. But what a lovely surprise upon arrival! The B&B is in the middle of the King William district, which is a wonderful ensemble of historical houses, all well-kept by their friendly inhabitants. Staying here, having my tea on my own front porch, watching the squirrels jumping in the surrounding trees, was simply delightful. And if you want you can easily walk all the way to Downtown and the famous Riverwalk area along the river. If I ever get back to San Antonio, this is where I'll stay again.

As we drove in the driveway, we were greeted and taken right up to our huge room, with 2 large chairs and ottomans, amazing bed, and were surprised by the large bathroom with separate sinks/vanities. Great place to unwind and relax. Covered porch with chairs would have been lovely for breakfast had it not rained. We walked to Bohanan's and enjoyed live jazz music, and also enjoyed a movie at Rivercenter Mall. I missed having regular coffee, but if you like French press coffee, it's here. I would go for breakfast in one of the area restaurant .next time rather than order breakfast in our room.

I always look forward to staying in this lovely Victorian house close to the Riverwalk in San Antonio. So peaceful, with beautiful rooms, high ceilings and spaciousness in both the bedrooms and baths. The King William District is wonderful for strolling to look at the old homes or to walk into town via the picturesque Riverwalk. Deb and Kit are always ready to help out when needed.

The Carriage House is a great place to stay if you want a kitchen, a cozy living area, and great access to the River walk and downtown. Only issue was the WiFi signal didn't really reach out there from the main house. But the bed was comfy, the space was adequate for two people, and the location was excellent.
Thanks for staying with us. Time Warner has been digging up and changing/burying cable and causing problems with all of our systems. I think there were so many outages that the Apple WIFI extenders got signals confused. I called Apple and the WIFI was fixed first thing this morning. Thanks for your patience.

Quiet, charming, sparkling clean, and friendly are just a few of the qualities of this adorable inn. The location could not be better for walking to all that the Riverwalk in San Antonio has to offer. As an Inn keeper myself I highly recommend A Yellow Rose.

The serene, shaded quiet was delightfully relaxing, and greatly enhanced by the Victorian-esque furnishings - I'm confident I've never slept in commercial lodgings with a four-poster bed before. Am recommending you highly to my colleagues, and would certainly make use of your property again. (Note; 'Dining' was largely NA in my case, since my rooms did not come with a breakfast. I enjoyed the presence of the refrigerator; would have been nice to have had a microwave, as well.)

We initially stumbled on to the Yellow Rose many years ago when all the hotel rooms for the TDA convention were booked. We have been staying here each year since. Each room is unique, and they are always comfortable and clean. Deb and Kit make you feel very welcome. It is sooo quiet here. We never have trouble sleeping at Yellow Rose. In the room, there is only breakfast service (be sure and try it. it is wonderful!), but there are outstanding restaurants within walking distance. If you don't want to eat out every meal, I recommend the Carriage House as it has a full kitchen.

This is our 3rd stay at A Yellow Rose for our anniversary. As usual, our room was lovely, the setting is quiet, and the location perfect. The area near the B&B has developed in the last few years to include some really top notch restaurants. My sister and I took a quick trip to San Antonio and stayed at A Yellow Rose.We stayed in the carriage house which was homey and clean. My sister took the bed and had a great sleep and I slept on the couch and also slept well. Some of the furnishings are a little old but comfortable. We had the full breakfast the 1st morning which was awesome and the continental breakfast the 2nd which was also very good. The B&B is within a pleasant walking distance to the Riverwalk and the Alamo where we spent most of our day. There are a lot of places to choose from for dinner and lunch right near the house. The proprietors are very friendly and accommodating. All in all we had a great time and our experience there was excellent.

Stayed in the Bourdeaux room. It was nice and within walking proximity to many top notch restaurants. We went to the river walk one night, stayed for about an hour, then promptly high tailed it back to the historical district away from all of the excessively tourist attractions and row after row of mediocre restaurants. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
Staying in this area is oh so different from staying in the middle of the downtown/riverwalk activity. How nice that you discovered that the King William District is the best part of San Antonio!

We arrived in San Antonio in the late morning, so appreciated being able to park our car behind the B&B. We had the Bordeaux room with the tea/coffee/juice choice. It is a very spacious room, and the bathroom is huge! I enjoyed a good soak in the old style tub that night from all our days walking. Its location is excellent since we walked the few blocks to the Riverwalk and followed it to explore the downtown area. It was a very quiet area. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer since we were doing a road trip vacation of Texas.

We had a bit of a mixed reaction to our stay. It was a bit disappointing to realize that there was no common area for guests to gather. We did speak with the hostess several times but it was always with her standing in the doorway of her private section. We did not have a bath mat for the first 2 days of our 3 day stay. The room was very comfortable. Breakfast was Ok with yougurt and cut up fruit. I did like the French press coffee.
We try to be specific on the website and on the phone that we don't have a public area. I'm sorry we failed to properly inform you.

We came to San Antonio for our sons graduation from Air Force BMT at Lakeland AFB, which is only about a 15 minute drive. We stayed downstairs in the Providence room. This room is nice and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The room itself was nice and clean and stocked with fresh towels, coffee and juice. We were not able to try the breakfast because we left early every morning. This B&B is located in the King William District. Access to thru Riverwalk is just down the street. There are new restaurants nearby that serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Liberty Bar which used to be an old hospital is a great place for drinks. Hot Joy is a great place to get Asian cuisine. Hot Joy also has great drinks. There are a few more outdoor eateries located just down the block from A Yellow Rose on S. Alamo street. Overall, we had a great time. Just wish we had a little more time exploring the area. Definitely tons of gorgeous historical houses to see.
Again, congratulations on your son's huge accomplishment. Lackland parents have become a big demographic for us and I'm thrilled you enjoyed your stay. Thanks!

We were in San Antonio for the Missions Marathon Half and picked the King William area for the proximity to the race. We came to realize that A Yellow Rose was walking close to downtown and "found" the King William District by sheer food fortune. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We only stayed two nights, leaving too early both mornings to ever enjoy having breakfast, but I am sure that the meals would have been on par with the high quality we enjoyed in every other aspect of our stay.

We spent 7 wonderful days at the Yellow Rose. Our room was large, clean, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. The porch was a plus, we enjoyed sitting outside on February evenings! Having a small refrigerator was great. Deb's breakfasts were delicious and were delivered right to our room. The neighborhood was quiet and safe, we enjoyed walking in the King William district. We think the best part of our guest rooms is that each room has a porch. [except for the carriage house] Believe it or not, it is still pleasant outdoors and perfect porch weather.

A Yellow Rose Bed and Breakfast is conveniently located within walking distance of all the top sites of downtown San Antonio. I thoroughly enjoyed walking to the River Walk, Market Square, La Villita and The Alamo. My room was large and had lovely historic charm. The King William neighborhood is diverse with a wide range of historic homes of all types and sizes. You can thoroughly get lost in the neighborhood as one house is more interesting than the next. The local nearby restaurants that were recommended were an excellent and a refreshing change from the usual suburban chains.

We stayed one night and opted not to have breakfast in the Carriage House. Since B and B's do not have signage here and our old GPS was wrong, it was a bit difficult to tell which house it was & which was their driveway to the back. Deb was super nice & considerate. She made sure we had everything we needed for the night, even provided extra touch to make sure my daughter on crutches was comfortable. It was clean and had a nice kitchenette. Bed was comfortable not too stiff or soft. Very close to restaurants, Convention Ctr,, Riverwalk, and Alamo.

The best parts about the Yellow Rose B&B are definitely it's location in the King William historic district, which provided a very quiet stay but that was within walking distance for us to the riverwalk as well as the Alamodome. Parking was included and on property, off the street. Our room was very large and comfortably decorated. Two small negatives were that there was no HVAC control accessible to the guest, which made our first night's stay very cold (there was only 1 light blanket in the room); the other was the room could have been cleaner- the walls adjacent to the HVAC vents had visible dirt/dust hanging on them. We ate breakfast 2 mornings and both were fantastic, as long as you don't mind making your own coffee, which we didn't. Breakfast is served at only 1 time: 9:15 am. This was somewhat unfortunate, because we were there 4 nights but could only enjoy the breakfast 2 mornings because we could not get served earlier. It was way better than the breakfasts we had at the local café. Overall, had a very nice visit.
I'm sorry you were cold your first night. Cold snaps down here create a remarkable change from our normal hot temps and require tweaking the thermostats. We do have very good space heaters in all the rooms to help bump up the heat if we haven't adjusted the thermostat properly. As you can see from the other reviews, we pride ourselves on cleanliness and I'm embarrassed that the vents were not cleaned well. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. We offer a choice of rates/breakfasts to accommodate various guest schedules and preferences. The full breakfast is delivered at 9:15, but the continental breakfast is stocked in the room each day when it is serviced and ready whenever you are. Thanks for your comments.

We stayed in the exquisite Bordeaux Room which is large, very comfortable and beautifully furnished. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. With off-street parking in the lovely King William district just south of downtown, its very convenient to everything. We'll definitelt go back.

We were in San Antonio for a conference and our room was clean, beautifully appointed and relaxing. An "oasis" after a hectic day of meetings. The bed was very comfortable- I don't think I have slept as well at any other venue! The Conference Center and river-walk were a short and pleasant stroll from our room. Deb was a great host and provided everything we needed. I would certainly recommend the Yellow Rose to anyone staying in the area! If I have any suggestions it would be to update the informational binder in the room and provide fresh juice instead of the common bottled juice.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location was excellent: Close enough to River Walk and other tourist-y destinations without being on the main strip. You could be a reveler without hearing revelers at all hours! It was a very sweet, relaxing place to return to and from which to escape the heat on the covered, wrap-around porches. The beds were super-soft and comfortable - assuming all are like mine. The room was cheerful with an historic bent without being over-the-top. It was nicely straightened daily. And the shower. THE SHOWER. Water pressure for days, which I love. Some of the best showers away from home I've had in years. My room also featured a dorm fridge, which was helpful. I filled it with water and juices from the corner store, and had plenty to rehydrate myself after my adventures. (Please ignore the rating for the food because I didn't partake. Not because it looked unappetizing, but because I was with a bridal party and most of our meals were together.) I was very pleased with my room, the staff and owners. I wish I'd had more time with the dogs, but c'est la vie.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and love that you commented on the showers. ...In our constant effort to conserve water, we have low flow on everything. Cheers!

Exceeded almost all of my expectations! The innkeepers were very easy to get a hold of and provided insight and amenities. The one minor knock against them I have is that I don't think the Sunny-D they provided counts as "juice." But the coffee and tea they had was really high quality. The location is great, as it provides close access to several delicious restaurants, a neat local tea-shop, and a handful of bars as well. In addition, it's only about a 15 minute walk to downtown. Overall, a very nice experience.
I agree about the "juice" and am always trying to find single serve real juice that isn't in a box! Thanks for the comment. It has inspired me to step up my search.

We stayed at "A Yellow Rose" for four nights in Oct. and really enjoyed it. The rooms were large and comfortable and pretty too. The bed was very comfortable and the bath was excellent. The continental breakfast was delicious and more than we expected. It's a long walk to town but not really bad. The neighborhood was so quiet and interesting. We came back early every day just so we could relax and enjoy the surroundings. The owner was very helpful with suggestions about tours and places to eat. We hated to leave but had to fly home and return to work. We highly recommend "A Yellow Rose" B&B for anyone wanting a nice place to stay in San Antonio.
Thanks for taking time to submit a review. I'm thrilled you had such a good time.

My second visit in two years from Florida and can't wait to return after this 5 night stay. Love the room and the great King William Historic neighborhood, with it's wonderful homes, amazing local restaurants, and ambiance throughout. Visited my old favorite watering holes and restaurants 2 blocks away in Southtown, The Friendly Spot and the Liberty Bar, and added two other new Southtown favorites, The Mad Hatter, 1 block away for a delicious eclectic lunch and Rosario's, a local Mexican cuisine favorite. Then there is the beautiful, quiet part of the Riverwalk, which begins 2 blocks away, where in less than 10 minutes I can walk to my other favorite, the Esquire Tavern, downtown on E Commerce St. Throw in the wonderful hosts, Deb & Kit who originally hipped me to all these places, and one must ask, "Why would anyone want to stay anywhere else in San Antonio?" Oh and I forgot Sunday morning breakfast at the Guenther House + their incredible desserts. The Yellow Rose, King William neighborhood, Southtown, Riverwalk: Who could ask for more? Not me, can't wait to return!! John McCallum
We look forward to your return, too! The Esquire is our go to place for casual good drinks and food. Glad it made your list of faves.

The Yellow Rose was quaint and lovely, located in a historic neighborhood walking distance to attractions but set away from the touristy area. We brought bikes making it an easy and pleasant jaunt on the river walk from our area to downtown.
Glad you appreciated the local flavor of our neighborhood instead of the "tourist" version at the river walk.

Thanks! I hope you know how much we appreciate your loyalty and kind remarks. See you again soon, I hope!

This is a wonderful place in a great in-town location. Very quiet, but walking distance to all the downtown attractions, and only a block or two from a number of fine restaurants. Very clean and well cared for; wonderful casual atmosphere. I stay here every time I visit San Antonio.
Thanks! And, we are getting more and more new restaurants all the time. The people at Azuca are opening a fish place next door to their existing restaurant. Hot Joy opened and has delicious Chinese food. If only someone would open a Thai restaurant!

I stayed here for two nights while in town on business. I loves the room and the convenience of it's location. The continental breakfast was only okay. The coffee for the French press appeared to be drip pot ground. There was a scant amount of cream available. They made a great effort to make the breakfast pretty but it didn't have that gourmet, homemade yumminess that I love in B&B's. Overall, it was a great stay and I would recommend them to others.
Hi, We get our coffee from a company in Colorado called Coda Coffee. It is specifically ground for the French Press in the rooms. Please tell me what you expected or would prefer from a continental breakfast. I'm always ready to change and improve. Anyway, I'm glad you had a "great" stay.

Wonderful place, peaceful, 2 blocks from River Walk. This is the place to be for visiting The River Walk. The King William District is amazing. Once we parked at the Yellow Rose we never had to drive until we left for home. You can walk everywhere from here. The dining in "the hood" is fabulous. The hosts are incredible, truly committed to their clientele. Thanks Deb for the homemade, bountiful breakfasts! Cheers Kit! Great advice for our dining choices. See you again!

25 huge Texas yellow roses awaited me as we walked into the room. Lovely welcome note and room key left for us on porch of suite (my husband had called Deb earlier in the week and she personally picked up the roses at a local florist). My sister then called during our stay to have a bottle of Dom Perignon waiting in our room on our Anniversary, and again, Deb went out and bought it and had it waiting for us with champagne glasses. 1+mile walk to downtown and 2 block walk to southern end of River Walk was perfect location! Great value for the price. Local restaurants within 1-2 blocks of B&B were convenient and delicious. King George neighborhood a historical plus. Thanks Deb and Kit!

This is a beautiful property with great hosts. Just a short walk from the river walk and many things to do in this historic neighborhood. Many lovely old houses right nearby, some open for tours, nice restaurants, and the riverwalk itself is great. Also went to the Conjunto music festival and that was wonderful. Nice large room with spacious bath. Overall, a great time in San Antonio at a lovely B&B!

We booked A Yellow Rose B & B online and were not disappointed in any way. Staying in the King William neighborhood put us in walking distance to downtown and gave us a chance to take a lovely early morning self-guided walking tour before heading out for other San Antonio and area attractions. Having the generous continental breakfast available in our room (the spacious, comfortable Carriage House) gave us flexibility of schedule. We stayed two nights and would book this very nice place again.
I'm so glad you enjoyed walking the neighborhood each morning. It's such a great way to start the day! Thank you!

We made reservations here in order to spend 4 nights in San Antonio to visit Lacklund Air Force base for our son's BMT graduation. We SOOOO happy we chose this B&B. We found it online while searching for anyplace to stay. We stumbled upon this one based on price and location. Since we've never been to San Antonio we had no idea where to stay. We took a chance and are so glad we did. Deb called us after we inquired into availability and informed us we would be in a good spot and that Lacklund families stay there all the time. When we arrived we noted the historic and beautiful neighborhood the home is in. Very safe and easy parking. We checked in and the Blue Bonnet room was very nice. The room was clean and good sized. The fridge was stocked with juice, pop and coffee. We did not take advantage of the breakfast since we were gone early each day and home late. During the stay we were able to walk to the riverwalk each night with no issues. It's only about five blocks away and easily walkable. We loved the downtown riverwalk, bars and eateries. We obviously drove to the Air Force base each day and it is only about 15 minutes away. Very easy to get on the freeway and make it there quickly. We spent one day on base and three days on a town pass with our son. We caught a Rangers baseball game and a Spurs basketball game. We had an awesome time in San Antonio and loved the city. The Yellow Rose (Deb) made this such an enjoyable stay we will definitely recommend and return in the future. Oh, and the price was better than the hotels and other B&B's in the area. Location, location, location and price, price, price. You will be happy you stayed. Thanks Deb.
Thank you! Actually, you were very [VERY] easy guests! Congratulations to you and your son.

We stayed at the Yellow Rose for two nights two weeks ago and it was the perfect little place for us. Really lovely rooms, decorated with lots of love for details and nice furniture. The owners are so nice, very friendly and helpful and we felt at home as soon as we stepped into the room. My wife and I absolutely love A Yellow Rose. For the last 5 or 6 years we've stayed there every fall and spring for a week each. The rooms are cosy, the beds are comfy, and Kim and Deb (the owners) are groovy. The neighborhood, the King William Historical District, is loaded with gorgeous mansions, and the San Antonio Riverwalk is just a couple of blocks from the B&B. If we're not strolling in the neighborhood, on the Riverwalk, or at our son's house or any of the other culturally significant places in San Antonio, we sit on the porch, where we have heart-to-heart talks and listen to the birds. A Yellow Rose is indeed our home away from home; indeed, it's practically a holy place for us.

The room was lovely, comfortable, and very clean. The neighborhood is beautiful, and is very convenient to the Riverwalk area, lots of restaurants, and to the missions. The hosts are lovely, helpful people. The only drawback was the sound of trains whistling several times during the night -- adds ambience but interrupts sleep.
I'm sorry the trains disturbed you. The tracks are pretty far away, but if the air is thin or the wind in the right direction the train whistle can be heard. The city is working on providing this area with a quiet zone. Fingers crossed!

I love the Yellow Rose so much that I cancelled the other hotel I had booked for my return to San Antonio so I could go bac to the Yellow Rose. It's in a residential neighborhood which has some very interesting architecture, galleries & local restaurants, and is peaceful & quiet. I came back from West Texas on a very early train and the owner kindly left the key & let me use the room that morning. The room I was in is very spacious & comfortable for 2. There are 2 generous armchairs, a large bathroom with 2 sinks & separate tub & shower. I highly recommend the Yellow Rose.

My husband and I live in San Antonio but stayed at the Yellow Rose this past weekend for a downtown wedding we were participating in. We wanted something different but still easily accessible to downtown so that we wouldn't be late for any wedding festivities. A few minutes north brings you to the heart of downtown! Check in was a breeze - just pick up the envelope with your name on it & make your way to your room. We stayed in the Carriage House, which was completely separate from the other rooms. The room was spotless and had everything we needed. The privacy was wonderful, but my husband and I both agree that the breakfast delivered to our room each morning by Deb & Kit was the icing on the cake. First morning - crepes filled with strawberry jam, covered with powdered sugar & almond slivers, bacon, coffee cake, and a bowl of fresh fruit for each of us. Second morning - chicken enchiladas w/green chili, a huge sausage patty, yogurt w/fruit, and giant cranberry muffins. The delivered breakfast is an incredible value & we can't understand why anyone might opt for something less. My only suggestion is to include how many scoops of ground coffee to use for the french press coffeemaker in the room. The instructions were simple but the measurement would've been helpful. We know we will stay again in the future & can't thank Deb & Kit enough for helping to make this past weekend so memorable!
I'm so glad you enjoyed your weekend getaway. The staycations are really becoming popular - especially for downtown events. Thanks also for pointing out the results of my housekeeper's hard work. She loves reading reviews that mention her diligence.

We had a great stay! The rooms are just goregeous. You do not feel like being in a hotel room and it is nice to spend the evening in the rooms or sitting outside on the porch. As we travelled with 2 little kids, we had not tried the breakfast, therefore we cannot really rate it, but it is supposed to be delicious. Great place, would recommend it to anyone. We will definitely come back!

What an amazing place! In the heart of the KingWilliam district, the rooms all share a secluded courtyard. We stayed in the Magnolia room and it was perfect! It's quaint, chic, private, and homey all wrapped together. The rooms have everything you need, from wine bottle opener and wine glasses to shampoo and blow dryer and even robes. The bed was wonderful and breakfast even better. We were wanting a secluded romantic getaway and that is exactly what we got. All within walking distance of some great restaurants and fun hang outs. Deb was the perfect hostess. She gave evening dining advice and delivered an unforgettable breakfast to our door. We will definitely visit this place again.
Thank you for your review. I know it takes extra time to submit and I really appreciate it. We try to set up the rooms so they have all the things we think guests will need so they don't have to waste time looking or asking...or packing. We came to San Antonio to visit a relative and wanted to spend one night. Our usual haunts have been boutique hotels directly accessing the River Walk. How pleased we were to be off that particular beaten path and breath the Old World atmosphere of the King Wlm District, where a stroll down the sidewalk is magnificent. Our accomodations were most comfortable, private and exactly what we hoped for. Deb greeted us after our arrival and is a most gracious hostess. Restaurants and businesses were 2 to 5 blocks away in what is called South Town. Everything a visitor could want, including feeling like a "resident." We will be back!
I love that you felt like a resident. Don't you think that is one of the main advantages of staying at a b&b? We like to pretend like we live in the places we visit and the only way to do that is to stay in a neighborhood. Thank you!

I really enjoyed our 3 night stay in the charming Bluebonnet room - the wallpaper combined with the imposing headboard made it feel a little like we were on the set of an Alfred Hitchcock film but it all worked together surprisingly well. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows and the room was a comfortable temperature despite unseasonably cold weather outside during our visit in Nov 2013. We liked being able to arrive/leave our room via our own external staircase (more privacy) and also enjoyed the homemade breakfast delivered to our door on the second day (the first day there was a mistake with our order for vegetarian breakfasts so Deb kindly didn't charge us for the bacon quiche). We found Deb to be a very accommodating hostess when we requested an extension of our stay at the last minute. All in all I will be recommending this place to anyone else who comes to stay, particularly if you are there to experience historic King Wlliam and the Riverwalk.

Stayed for a couple of nites last weekend by myself for an Alamodome Event. Showed up on a Friday evening just when everyone was going out so with traffic and on street parking had to drive around a bit before finding the house so address or signage could be a bit clearer. After finding it, however, everything was as I was told it would be at the gate. Drove into an oasis of peace and quiet, very shady and garden-like. Greeted by kitties :) Room was charming with a very comfy bed and bedding. Only saw the owner once by accident (which is just fine as I'm not a typical b&b type, privacy is good) and the one request I had was granted immediately. Opted for continental breakfast which was fine....granola yogurt, freshly baked bread, soda/juice. Coffee was french press which is not my bag. Directions were given on how to use it but no measurements on coffee or water. If you've never used one before it was no go for me first thing in the morning. Teas was available however so my caffeine fix was satisfied. Overall, I really, really liked it. I would definately stay there again and the King William districts is very cool. Thanks for a very nice stay.

We decided not to order the breakfast because we like to explore on our own.. However there was only one place to eat and it was a hotel. In addition this was a long walk from downtown San Amtonio especially at night in the dark. .
Hi, Sorry you weren't aware of the many restaurants within just a few blocks. Somehow, I missed talking with you about our favorite thing - food. People come from all over San Antonio to eat in our neighborhood. As a back up to a personal conversation, we have lots of information and maps in the rooms as well as on the table on the porch. Our website and Facebook page are also full of information on dining and other places to go, see, do. I apologize for a lack of communication that let you down.

loved the room, the food, and Deb was great at helping us figure out how to get around San Antonio. Thank you and will definitely stay there again!

I stayed at the Yellow Rose B&B while attending a conference in San Antonio TX. It was a relaxing escape from the hustle & bustle of the conference activities. I enjoyed the fruit, yogurt & muffin most mornings and the French press coffee was great. Deb & Kit were around and helpful with suggestions. While the Yellow Rose isn't as convenient as staying at a downtown hotel it is a short walk or bus ride to everything downtown. And then I got to come back to my relaxing suite in the carriage house.

My husband and I traveled from Ft Worth to San Antonio to participate in the annual Beethoven Garten Octoberfest and tour the riverwalk and market square. The location was just perfect as it was just a few blocks from the Garten and the Riverwalk was about 6 or 8 blocks away. The managers were very friendly and accommodating. The room was perfect for our needs. We chose not to do the breakfast and was glad we had the choice reflected in the price. We walked again just a few blocks to the Guenther Haus for a great breakfast!

First place I stayed on a trip to Texas and I loved it. Could have stayed a week. Really something special and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for a second.

My husband is just getting through treatment for a serious illness so we wanted a lovely place to go to get away. Luckily, I found the Yellow Rose listed under B&Bs again so we knew just where to go!! Our room was charming and we felt soooo relaxed when we left!! The Provence and the Bordeaux rooms are wonderful!!!!

A quiet, deliciously cool and relaxing room in a beautiful house. Worth every penny and my only regret is that I couldn't stay there longer. If I ever return to San Antonio, this is where I'll go. Nick Garlick, the Netherlands

Had a great time at the Yellow Rose. Was close enough that we walked to the Riverwalk and to the Alamodome for the OSU - UTSA football game. Room was large and very comfortable.

It was a wonderful stay, thanks. So easy to book and check out. Very close to everything. Couldn't have had a better stay at a luxury hotel

We found this B&B to be very well located and walking distance to all we wanted to do. It's a short walk to excellent dining and the Riverwalk, yet away from the touristy area. Liked the off street parking, the full breakfast was great and the area was quiet and restful.

Second stay... Just as great as the first!!! We will stay every time we visit San Antonio:)

My room was charming, very clean and comfortable. While the room was cozy, the bathroom was "modern." The continental breakfast provided in the room was perfect for my schedule which required leaving early in the morning. The location was convenient - in walking distance to the Riverwalk and great dining.

Excellent accomodations, color scheme was soothing and relaxing, the bathroom was huge, bed and linens were very comfortable, two nice large upholstered chairs , roomy closet, a refrigerator and clean as could be. This place far exceeded my expectations. I would find it hard to believe someone not liking this place.

Such a cute little bed and breakfast tucked away on one of the streets in Kings District. We brought our bikes and had a short ride to get to the trails of the river walk. Perfect location to walk everywhere, the Alamo, the Riverwalk, and more. Such friendly owners! Have already recommended to several people.

Had a wonderful weekend with my daughter at A Yellow Rose. Especially loved the privacy - Deb met us when we arrived and explained a few things, then left us to do our own thing. We saw her one more time when she delivered our delicious full breakfast to the door. The room was lovely, the neighborhood outstanding. The only twitch was the narrow parking area - but that's just me being nervous! Would love to come back!

This bed and breakfast was perfect. It was very clean and private. It is a short walk to the Riverwalk and there are also restaraunts close by to enjoy. The owners are there if you need them and they were awesome. We would definately stay here again!

The location was great. The room was welcoming, comfortable and exactly as advertised. Close to the Riverwalk, though we chose to drive rather than walk at night, personally I still think this was the better choice (driving). We would certainly stay again when we are in San Antonio next.

Oh that I could have stayed a week! What a lovely B& B in the historic King William/Southtown section of San Antonio. Beautiful spacious room with easy access, off street parking, a porch to sit on, gardens, hummingbirds, neighborhood cats, and lots of character. Sitting on the porch in the morning I felt like I was in Key West. Shared the 4th with a couple hundred neighbors at a local spot and watched the fireworks from the Hemisfair. Then the following evening followed my host, Deb Walker's advice' , and walked 2 blocks to the neighborhood monthly First Friday Arts & Entertainment party. Had my picture made with Elvis to raise $ for the Diabetes Association, hung out at Beethoven's Bier Garden with a 1000 of my newest friends for live music & German beer. Made both the early happy hour & late happy hour at the Liberty Bar on S. Alamo, and enjoyed terrific food suggested by a wonderful server, Roseanna, and maybe a couple of local brews. And all of this was 2 blocks either way of the Yellow Rose, tucked away on Madison, a quiet residential street. And did I mention that one right turn and 2 blocks more you are on a most beautiful section of the Riverwalk, and a short, quiet walk to the hustle & bustle of the more commercial Riverwalk.

Stayed here for 1 night in June 2013, in the Bluebonnet room. The Yellow Rose is in a quiet, pleasant residential area about 10 minutes walk to the main attractions in San Antonio. The room itself was spacious and very comfortable with all the usual coffee making facilities and a kettle (a bonus for us tea drinkers). Opted for the optional full breakfast which was excellent although their are several neighbourhood eateries within a stones throw if you want room only. Overall very happy with our stay and appreciated the no fuss approach of the owners

The Yellow Rose is an excellent choice for those who want to see more of San Antonio than the Riverwalk. It is just a few steps from all types of local excellence, including the Friendly Spot ice house, Rosarios, the Liberty Bar, and Cascabel Mexican Patio. The hosts are great. You will enjoy them and their dogs. The neighborhood is historic and beautiful. I highly recommend.

Very charming B&B located in the beautiful King William Historic District. Within walking distance to the Riverwalk and the Alamodome. The room was filled with antiques and was very clean and nice. We had everything we needed, including continental breakfast each day. We highly recommend this B&B and will definitely stay there again!

The Yellow Rose Bed and Breakfast is always our first choice for family and friends visiting from out of town. It goes way beyond charming. The versatility of its rooms, breakfast options and ability to provide special occasion requests makes it the perfect choice for any traveler and all at an affordable price. You can't beat it's location with walking access to a variety of fun, interesting and tasty places to eat, the river walk and the hub of downtown San Antonio. The owners are terrific, on site and happy to answer questions if you have them. Each room set up is unique and extremely clean with amenities like excellent coffee, tea and juice. It is the perfect place to stay in San Antonio if you are looking to be in a well located charming and comfortable B & B.

We had a peaceful and restful stay at A Yellow Rose in San Antonio. The room was spacious and comfortably furnished with plush couches and stuffed chairs to lounge in. The house has a relaxed, historic feel with good vibes all around. A Yellow Rose lets you choose your dining experience from in-room continental breakfast up through a full home cooked meal. Since we chose the in-room breakfast (which was just Sunny Delight and coffee) we can't really comment on the food much, but the stay overall was great and we would recommend it if you're coming to San Antonio!

My husband and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary celebration. We absolutely loved it! Such a quaint little B&B. Private, off-street parking, comfy bedroom with a couch, and large bathroom with jacuzzi tub. The owners were more than accessible and very friendly. We can't wait to stay here in the future.

A Yellow Rose is a lovely bed and breakfast in the King William District. We almost missed it because the home blends in with the others on the block. There is a small parking lot, but it's hard to navigate unless you have a compact car. We didn't have breakfast but the provided juices were just what we needed in the morning. A great value for the location! I'd definitely recommend this B&B to friends/family. We'll be back in the future!

Due to several excellent breakfast options (Titos & Madhatter) only a 1/2 block away (4 minute walk at most) and the lack of a traditional dining room to meet and share our daily experience with others we opted out of the breakfast options. This was both good and bad as we found ourselves rolling out of bed just in time for lunch each day without that set breakfast appointment time. If you add another 5-10 minutes to your morning breakfast walk a host of other breakfast options become available including the famous Guenther House Restaurant. The Riverwalk and convention center is a safe 15-20 minute stroll away which we did several times during our stay. This is definitely a pedestrian friendly area of town.

Stayed only 1 night before moving to hotel for conference. Enjoyed the historic neighborhood, bird chatter, cheery room and pampered independence. Hosts were friendly, accommodating and non-intrusive. Lots of nearby restaurants. Ficachio (?) was pretty good Italian, and Rosario's, excellent for Mexican and margaritas. We ordered continental at Yellow Rose and it was both healthy and good comfort food. All we could eat.

We loved our stay at A Yellow Rose! It is an ideal location in a historic neighborhood -- close to restaurants, and an easy walking distance to the River Walk and downtown. The decor is lovely and we had everything we needed. Free wifi was a real bonus, but my favorite part was the in-room continental breakfast with delicious blueberry bread, yogurt with almonds, fresh fruit and great coffee. This allowed us to be very independent, with lots of privacy, although we also enjoyed chatting with the owners while we ate our breakfast on our porch. Will definitely go back!

We had a great time. Wonderful 15 min walk along the river from the A Yellow Rose to the downtown Riverwalk. The room was very spacious and clean, the bathroom very spacious, clean and comfortable. Easy to park your car. Located in the historic King William District which made it pleasant to walk around and do some sightseeing. We enjoyed to go for breakfast or lunch at the nearby Guenther House.

We wanted to take a two-day "staycation" here in San Antonio, and immediately thought of the Yellow Rose. We called to ask if our favorite room was available during the break, and the owners worked with us to carve out a two-day time that we'd be able to have the room. We were all over San Antonio during that two days, but had a great deal of time in the room as well...and it was GREAT as usual! We enjoyed the comfort of the room; the amenities - from great toiletries to robes to perfect TV to all the little knickknacks that make the room feel cozy and homey - were great, and I HAVE to find out where they got that amazing showerhead! Best shower flow I've ever seen in ANY hotel, motel, b&b!!! Hard to find any issues with this place...that's why we've stayed there as often as we have, and will stay there again! The owners are friendly yet unobtrusive, the grounds are attractive, the room was great, the neighborhood is interesting and vibrant...just a fantastic stay. Definitely worth the price of admission! :)

My wife and I did a 2-day quick tour of San Antonio and we were lucky enough to book a stay at the Yellow Rose. Excellent location, easy walk to great restaurants (Rosario's!) and other downtown attractions (Alamo,Riverwalk,Mercado). Great hosts, we appreciated the breakfast-optional choice, my wife doesn't like to eat large first thing in the morning. Excellent restaurant recommendations..great room! Thanks Deb +Kit!

We had an absolutely terrific stay at the Yellow Rose and would recommend it to anyone visiting the San Antonio area. The King William neighborhood is a delight and the Rose is but 2 blocks from a serene section of Riverwalk and several very satisfying restaurants are a snap to walk to. It's a great springboard to Lackland AFB, our occasion to visit the area, and many other local attractions. We were unable to sample the breakfast fare, but had excellent coffee and tea provided to us in a spacious, well-appointed room, and the veranda was fun, too. Ample parking provided or easily found on the street nearby. Thanks, Deb, we'd like to return!

I am grateful that I have an opportunity to share my great experience with others. My husband and I were staying with 'A Yellow Rose' for our Anniversary weekend. We have never stayed with a B&B prior and we were a little skeptical. In speaking with Deb before making the reservation she put all my nerves at ease. We arrived to a bright, clean, and inviting room. We were welcomed by Deb upon our arrival and she made herself available for anything we needed. We stayed in the Magnolia and couldn't have been happier. My husband stated 'It feels like we are a guest rather then renting a room!' LOVED IT!! The location was so close to Downtown SA and instead of taking our vehicle we took a cab there and back for less than what we would have paid for garage parking. Can't say enough about what a great experience it was and how difficult it will be for other B&B's in our future to live up to. Thank you again for such a great stay.

Room was clean, spacious and quiet. The bed was really comfortable and I didn't want to crawl out of it! French press in my room was nice, so I didn't have to leave my room to get coffee in the morning. Made a cup of coffee and crawled back into the bed. Nice, quiet place to stay.

My husband and I stayed here for a few nights after we were married here in San Antonio. It was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle, with very quiet and private rooms, attentive but not intrusive service and all the coziness and creature comforts of home. The proprietors even left us a bottle of champagne when they learned that we had just been married--how wonderful! The food that was available was delicious, whether it was breads or yogurt and fruit or the warm breakfast enchiladas. I would recommend a stay at A Yellow Rose to anyone!

My stay at the Yellow Rose Bed and Breakfast was the perfect place for me on my trip to San Antonio/Austin area. I chose only the coffee and juice service since my group was up early to go to the F1 race in Austin. The Riverwalk and a good selection of restaurants within walking distance. I would stay again.
3.8 on November 22, 2012
We stayed two nights in the Magnolia Room. The room is large with tall ceilings and a large bathroom. The shower had lots of hot water and good pressure. The bathroom was well appointed with little details like a magnifying glass, lots of towels, and toiletries. A small microwave and fridge are provided in this very clean property. The bed was comfortable and linens divine. We had a little porch out front with a garden area where we sat with our morning french-pressed coffee. This old farmhouse has 5 rooms and according to Deb, the privacy factor is a main reason for coming. This property does not have a common area, or a breakfast area, as breakfast is in your room. (We chose the continental version which had muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit and coffee/tea.) If you are looking for a "social type" B&B where you meet the other guests - then go elsewhere. For my husband and myself- we needed the solace that this type of property provided.
5 on November 13, 2012
I was going to write "the best B&B in San Antonio" when I decided to substitute "Lodging" for B&B. My wife and I visit San Antonio for a week at a time at least twice a year, and we wouldn't stay anywhere else. A Yellow Rose is enormously appealing: location in the beautiful King William District, a five-minute saunter to the RiverWalk, access to wonderful local restaurants and shops, a beautiful porch and courtyard full of great plants, spotless rooms, fantastic coffee and shampoo, the most comfortable beds in the world, interesiting books and magazines in each room, and in Kit and Deb, the funniest and most companionable innkeepers you'll ever meet. Oops, I forgot to mention their four rescue dogs, all of whom are well-mannered and extremely discreet.

Had a wonderful time at the Yellow Rose Bed & Breakfast in October. After a rainy Friday afternoon that brought in a cool front, the rest of the evening and Saturday was cool and gorgeous. This B&B was close enough to the Riverwalk and restaurants that we parked our car and walked the rest of the time we were there. The room was just like being in our own house, cozy and comfortable, roomy, and beautifully decorated. We loved exploring the King Williams District where the B&B was located which was a part of San Antonio we had never seen before. We would definitley recommend this place and would enjoy going back.

I recently visited San Antonio for an event hosted at Villa Finale (just a few blocks away) and the folks from the historic site recommended I consider A Yellow Rose. I really enjoyed my brief visit and wish I could have stayed at the Inn for more than 1 night. Deb, the hostess, was delightful from the moment I booked the reservation to my departure and friendly follow-up. The room I stayed in was spacious, well-appointed and clean! I especially enjoyed the cd player and selection of music - perfect for relaxing and catching up on my e-mails (using the free wifi provided). I look forward to visiting again. David Ford (NTHP) PS -I scored the dining as 5 star but in reality didn't dine at the property - there needs to be a "not applicable" option.

Stayed overnight for some respite before attending our son's airforce graduation, what a wonderful and relaxing evening. The B&B is so charming, and the owners were wonderful hosts. Most B&Bs do not offer a lot of privacy. We were so pleasantly suprised that you could socialize or have some quiet time. We also had the option of ordering breakfast in the room; the food was great and well worth the extra price. Our only regret was that we did not stay our entire visit at Yellow Rose.

I absolutely loved my stay with Deb at A Yellow Rose. I stayed in the Blue Bonnet room - decorated with a lot of love and charming details. The bed room and bathromm were both very, very clean - which for me is VERY important and a must-have. I loved sitting on the porch and just watching the sky and trees in the backyard - pure heaven. Deb was most helpful all the time and pointed me to some really good restaurants. I really recommend A Yellow Rose, if I'd be back in SA I definitely would stay here again. Thank you so much! Steph

We stayed at the Yellow Rose in mid-September 2012. The room was beautiful and very well kept. Lovely bathroom, plenty big enough. Nice quiet B+B. The location is perfect: on a beautiful street, walking distance to downtown, the river walk, and la villita. Good restaurant recommendations (most within walking distance, too!). The neighbourhood is perfect: beautiful homes, quiet streets, big old trees. Taco Heaven, Guenther House, and the river walk were our favourite perks. We highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed here for the second time over labor day weekend and it was just as great as I remember the first time being. Deb's breakfasts are the best, I think they are definitely worth springing for. We have stayed at quite a few other B&B's and Deb has the best breakfast hands down. The location is great and the room we stayed in had everything we needed. My husband joked that we should buy the room and just live there lol. It was clean and sooo comfortable. We absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone visiting the San Antonio area.

My fiance and I stayed here in mid July. It was incredibly hot outside, but to my surprise the a/c worked so well we would have had no idea what season it was (which is amazing in Texas). Our room was the Magnolia Room, which was nothing short of fabulous. I'm very particular about clean bathrooms, but I was delighted about how clean but still incredibly home-y everything was... i loved the bathtub! Overall a great experience. Would be delighted to stay here again.

I really liked staying at Yellow Rose. We stayed there for our honeymoon. I loved how close it was to the River Walk. For the most part we walked everywhere since it was only about a 10 min. walk to downtown San Antonio but the Bed and Breakfast itself was in a very quiet neighborhood. The food Deb brought us was delicious! I hadn't stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before but I definitely liked staying at Yellow Rose!!

I was in San Antonio on business for 16 days and found that staying at the Yellow Rose was perfect! It more than met my boss' frugal standards, yet was more than I could have expected from a cookie-cutter hotel room. There were so many wonderful restaurants within walking distance and the Riverwalk, right around the corner. Since I had to be at work super early, I just opted for coffee & juice in my room - which was perfect. I'd love to come back when I don't have to work and really enjoy myself :)

Myself and my wife had a pleasant week end stay at Yellow Rose. The B&B is located in the historic district and the neighborhood is full of other similar B&B's and it adds to the overall charm of the place. You could walk to most attractions such as River Walk, River Center Mall, Towers of Americas, Guenther house (an awesome restaurant). For biking enthusiasts, the rental places are pretty close by. The B&B had a calm outlook and the rooms were neat and well kept. The place stuck well to the concept of a B&B (bedding, furnitures, draping). The owners were friendly and were lenient with check in/check out. They gave us some good suggestions on eating/dining arnd the place. We opted out of dining in the B&B while making reservations and hence could not really comment on that aspect. Overall we had a wonderful stay. We would definitely recommend the place to any couple looking for a good, value for money.

We had a great stay at the Yellow Rose. The location is perfect, the staff is friendly and the room was much nicer than we expected for the price. We'll definitely stay here again.

Great location for restaurants and downtown activities , yet it was quiet and private. The breakfasts were outstanding. It was everything we wanted, and we want to stay there again.

After our stay here my fiance and I are more relaxed and focused. We will be returning for our end of Summer vacation for another relaxing weekend. Thanks Deb!

Our first time at a B&B. We were in the Carriage House and had total privacy. Every afternoon we returned from an excursion to find fresh cookies waiting for us. Deb was very helpful in suggesting restaurants in the area (and there were excellent restaurants within walking distance). There was off street parking which was wonderful. We could walk to the River Walk. It was a great location and wonderful place to stay.

My husband & I were thrilld to stay at A Yellow Rose. It was everything & more than we expected. The room was immaculate, adorably decorated; our privacy was respected. The price was the best value for our money, esp compared to other properties in the Riverwalk area. We would recommend this establishment to anyone who is considering staying at a B&B in SA; the King William district is also a plus for this property. We would definitely stay here again. T&R

We had a wonderful, very relaxing stay at A Yellow Rose. We opted for just coffee and tea, not breakfast, but the coffee was really great. The room was huge, and very nicely decorated. We spent time in the morning and evening relaxing on the porch. The location could not be better. I highly recommend this b&b.

A Yellow Rose was the best choice we could have made for our Honeymoon stay in San Antonio. It was quiet, private, clean, and comfortable. The Inn Keepers were accomidating and helpful with information about the area. The walk to the Riverwalk was beautiful and close by. My husband and I loved the coziness of the room we stayed in. It was so much more enjoyable than any hotel we've stayed in. Tiffany C. Katy, TX

Our room at The Yellow Rose was one of the nicest B and B rooms we've encountered in our many years of staying at B and B's. The bathroom was huge and thoughtfully appointed. While there is a choice of breakfast options we enjoyed having just the juice and coffee for breakfast..and cookies in the afternoon. The refrigerator in the room is a real plus. The location in the historic King Williams area is great and offers wonderful walking opportunity. Also close to bike rental place. We were in San Antonio and used the trolley and city buses exclusively...including to and from the airport. ($1.25!) Took the 5 bus at the airport to downtown and then transferred to the Blue Line Trolley to within a couple of blocks of the B and B. The No. 7 and No. 8 buses go to various museums and other sites. Wonderful system of transfers on all public transportation allows one to travel all day on a single fare if you reboard a bus or trolley within 2 hours.

We loved everything about our stay at A Yellow Rose. Upon arrival, our room had a plate of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and our continential breakfast was already there. We really like the fact that the rates are based on how elaborate we wanted our breakfasts to be. Also, by serving breakfast in our room, we didn't have to get up at a certain time in order to be served. We opted for the Continental, thinking it would just be a couple of rolls with juice & coffee. We were given different kinds of breakfast breads, yogurt parfaits & fresh fruit. We had so much food, we weren't able to eat it all and asked our hosts to not give us so much for the last 1/2 of our stay! The bed was very comfortable, and our suite had a jacuzzi tub/shower combination, as well as a couch/seating area for reading. I grew up in a house built in 1800, so when we walked into the room, it was like coming home. The wood floors were warm and beautiful, the decor was welcoming and homey. Our hosts were friendly and hospitable, available when we had questions, but otherwise left us alone, which was perfect for us. They even left a bottle of champagne in the fridge with a Happy Anniversary note for us. The location was great - only a block away from the streetcar/bus stop. We tried using our car the first couple of days and finally parked it and used the streetcar everywhere we wanted to go. Some of the best restaurants in San Antonio are literally walking distance. We will definitely go back again and would recommend it very highly. The only caution I have is that they have several dogs that only go out a few times a day, but if you're not a dog lover, that's information you may need to know. We happen to love dogs, so we enjoyed the rare times we were there when they came outside. What else can I say, great room, great hosts, great location, great dogs!! Can't wait to go back!

Enjoyed staying here, really neat neighborhood and close to the Riverwalk. We were in town for a convention for my wife and it was very easy to stay here and drop her off and pick her up from the convention center. We have not stayed in many bed & breakfasts but this one was unique in our eyes as the rooms opened to the outside rather than into the house. The benefit is that they deliver the breakfast to your room rather than you having to get presentable to go down to the dining room. The only drawback was that breakfast was served at a set time (9:15) rather than us being able to choose. We had experienced that before so that was not a huge deal. It was served at 9:15 on the nose every morning. Overall we had a very good experience and would stay here again.

I travel back "home" to Texas every year or so to visit family, and while in San Antonio, I searched for either a hotel or a B&B. Yellow Rose's price was competitive with the price of a hotel room, so I decided to book a night at the B&B. In my week of traveling, it was the best accommodations of the entire trip. The room was clean, had several nice touches (great 4-post bed), the bed comfortable, the tub splendid, and the location great. Easy access to the River Walk. I will stay there again.

We spent a week in San Antonio visiting family and wanted the quiet setting of a B&B and to be close to the Riverwalk. We loved our stay. We walked everywhere and also tried out the trolleys. Lots of restaurants in the King William area (we tried most of them and had the family join us) and along the Riverwalk. Handy reach to the freeways if you are brave enough to drive those! We had the full breakfast daily, brought by Chef Deb each morning. The breakfasts were delicious and Deb's daily visit gave us the chance to touch base with her if necessary. Loved the daily housekeeping services, too which is rare in many B&Bs. The King William section of the Riverwalk was about 2 blocks away. We took the Riverwalk into downtown almost daily which was a great way to see the sites and get our exercise. It was a comfortable place to call home for the week!

This was my second visit to the King William District and to the Yellow Rose. I much prefer B&B lodging to large commercial hotels. The Yellow Rose is in some ways the ideal embodiment of that preference: distinctive but not so quirky as to be odd or off putting, responsive without being unctuous, friendly and personal without being intrusive. One really nice feature was the spaciousness of the rooms. The two rooms that I and I and my wife stayed in were tastefully decorated and set up without the fussiness of some B&Bs we have known. The beds were very comfortable and the very essential service of wireless internet access always functioned well. Also, it is most well placed. In one direction is the River Walk, really just a few yards away and in the other direction is downtown San Antonio, slightly more than yards but very accessible by foot. And the area of the King William District lends itself to endless walking and gawking at the architecture. I expect to go back again and again as long as my family lives in King William

Owners were friendly and helpful but distant, at least at first. Check-in is on your own. Neat old house. Windows & curtains were dusty, which made my allergies flare up. Lots of train noise at night, but if you close the windows, this disappears entirely. Both cooked and continental breakfasts were good. Easy walking distance to River Walk.

It is a very nice place and in a nice area. There are nice restaurants near by and the river walk is close by. Downtown is a short distance from the Yellow Rose. We had a good time staying at the Yellow Rose.

I travel a lot for business and prefer to stay in b&bs. A Yellow Rose offers everything I look for...privacy, comfortable and clean room, refrigerator for take away food, hair dryer... All that and the neighborhood was quiet with lots of restaurants nearby. If the weather had been better I'd have spent more time on my porch.

We visit San Antonio a couple of times a year to visit my mother/sister, who live out in the northern suburban wastelands. This time we decided to stay in our favorite part of San Antonio, the King William district. A Yellow Rose was an ideal choice for a B&B. Ideally located around the corner from the Mad Hatter (great little breakfast/lunch place), rooms off the street behind the main house, nice large room, and a large bathroom with tub and shower, and a porch right outside our door. We didn't eat there, so can't comment on breakfast, but the hosts were quite friendly, and not at all intrusive. We much prefer the B&Bs without a central dining room. We would highly recommend A Yellow Rose, and plan on staying there again when we return.

We had a brief getaway just the two of us before the holidays. The River Walk lights were extraordinary and the King William District home tour was the best. Staying at the Yellow Rose gave us easy access to everything downtown and the area has an assortment of really good restaurants. Our room was perfect and Deb always had great suggestions for how to spend our time. We hope to be back next year.

All three times we stayed were excellent, twice in the Bordeaux and once in the Magnolia. Both rooms are large and comfortable with unique layouts and decoration. We particularly liked having a French press and excellent coffee in the room to start the day, but we didn't choose to get the breakfast. The notes throughout the room were very useful for everything from joining the WiFi network to knowing how long the hot water takes to warm up. The beautiful historic neighborhood is just a short way from the River Walk.
5 on December 14, 2011
We walked to everything we were interested in and rented bikes at the bike rental stand a block away to tour the river walk south. Deb said to eat in the neighborhood and told us her favorites. Our room was bigger than we expected and the porch was perfect for resting with a beer before dinner.

Both our parties loved our stay at "A Yellow Rose B&B". It was wonderful to have off street parking and we did not use our car the whole stay! We were within walking distant for everything we wanted to see. Deb was very friendly and extremely helpful in guiding us to the right places to see as well as great restaurants in the immediate area. The rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The B&B was in a beautiful part of town and the private homes were so lovely. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you from Dickinson, TX and Newport, Rhode Island!

I've stayed here several times throughout the last few years and wouldn't change a thing. Perfect location nestled in the heart of the King William Historic District, yet just a few blocks away from great restaurants, the River Walk, galleries, and downtown. Rooms are comfy, clean, and nicely decorated without being fussy. Lots of thoughtful amenities like French press coffee, bottled juice and water in the fridge, bathrobes, etc. Love the private entrances and peaceful porches. Delicious breakfast delivered to your room if you choose that option. Deb and Kit are super helpful with local information and restaurant recommendations. Great value overall. Looking forward to my next stay!
5 on December 05, 2011
My first b&b experience and I appreciated the privacy and quiet environment. We don't eat breakfast, so we took advantage of the rate that didn't include breakfast but we did enjoy french press coffee on our porch before we left to tour the city. Deb and Kit were very helpful with suggestions for places to vist and restaurants in the neighborhood and river walk. Our room had everything we needed and we were very comfortable.
5 on November 25, 2011
Loved our porch and privacy. Deb and Kit gave us good advice about where to go and eat. The room had lots of information to help us, too. Mostly, we had an incredible time unwinding in the calm, friendly atomosphere. As much as we loved our porch, the room was better.
5 on November 23, 2011
We drove in and arrived late, but the instructions were perfect for finding our room. We slept well, got up and had french press coffee on our porch. Then we lollygagged for awhile before heading out for our big adventure. That afternoon, we had wine on our porch. The next day we did the same thing all over again with helpful advice and suggestions from Deb.

I absolutely LOVED the location of this B&B. I was pleased that when I arrived that my room was ready for me, but thought that it was impersonal service to have the key waiting for me inside an envelope by the door. The room was clean. Never found breakfast and thought that the bottled juice in the mini fridge and coffee you had to make yourself was impersonal as well. I would stay here again but only as a last minute option.

Spent several days at this B&B and enjoyed every minute. Very clean, comfortable and well maintained. The pricing based on what type of breakfast you prefer was an added bonus. Tried the continental and full breakfasts and both were excellent. Located in a nice neighborhood with lots of local dining. If you want to stay near central San Antonio and avoid the high cost of "downtown" accommodations, I highly recommend A Yellow Rose B&B. LD

A Yellow Rose provided me with the perfect, and much needed, break. Wonderful hosts, beautiful room and relaxing porch complete with Mona the lap cat. I parked my car on arrival and ignored it for three days, as everything you need and want is within walking distance. Art galleries, favorite bistros and coffee houses all a short, shady stroll. River and downtown are a quick shuttle or about 15 minute easy walk (rental bike kiosk is in the immediate neighborhood, too!). Glad to find such a gem-I'll be back.

My husband and I stayed at the Yellow Rose Bed and Breakfast over Labor Day weekend and we had a perfectly lovely time! The Magnolia room was beautifully appointed, the bed was super comfortable, and we just really loved the charm of the building and our room. When we arrived there was a letter for us with clear instructions and a warm welcome. We were able to see the owners a few times while we were coming and going and they were always really nice and had great ideas when we had a question about where to eat or how to get somewhere. We had breakfast on our last morning and the food was AMAZING! It was right up there with all of the really expensive food we had eaten all weekend and we really wish we had had breakfast there every morning we were there. It turns out that the couple who own this place are from New Mexico, at least he is and they lived in Albuquerque for years. This happens to be a great thing for my taste buds as she used Hatch green chiles on the chicken enchiladas and they tasted great! We had a lovely vacation with just the two of us. We would definitely stay here again on a return trip. Thank you for making it so great, we really love the place and your hospitality! -Amanda and Robert-

My husband and I live in San Antonio but were looking to get-away for his birthday. Our favorite area of town is the King William District, so we decided to spend the night and enjoy everthing King William has to offer. "A Yellow Rose" is located in the heart of King William and is only a block or two from some of our favorite spots (Mad Hatter's Tea Room, Rosario's Mexican Cantina, Beethoven's). Our room was attractive, clean, spacious, and wel-l appointed. The continental breakfast included home-baked goods, fresh yogurt sprinkled with almonds, fresh sliced mango (which we couldn't wait until breakfast to eat), coffee, and orange juice. It was a perfect start to our morning. After breakfast, we walked the couple of blocks to the riverwalk and toured the historic area on foot. We had a wonderful time and felt as though we were in a different city. We would definitely stay at "A Yellow Rose" again and would recommend it without reservation to anyone looking to explore King William, downtown San Antonio, or the Riverwalk area.

I was quite impressed by the large rooms, especially the bathroom. The service was great. Deb brought my invoice to my room within minutes of my requesting it by email. I'm just sorry that I only stayed 1 night. Since I was staying on the government rate, I missed breakfast but I hope to return soon to experience it. The only suggestion I would make is to have a microwave and toaster in the room in addition to the small fridge.

My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in San Antonio. I stayed at the property a few times in the past and knew that my wife would like it and also fall in love with San Antonio. It has been a few years since I have stayed at the property and it has been kept in fine condition. Deb does a wonderful job, the location is excellent and the King William area is a great way to enjoy the local feel of San Antonio, and still be close to the downtown tourist area as needed. We also met with some friends in the area that came up to the place and were also impressed with the quality of the house and the great location. If I had to mention any “areas of improvement” they are minor. One would be a better showerhead, while I realize it is Texas and drought season, there are better options. Our ceiling fan was also a little squeaky. These items were really insignificant, the trip was wonderful. It was a great anniversary trip, we love the facility, the King William area and will return to San Antonio. The bottle of Champagne in the fridge was an excellent touch. Thank you for the great hospitality. Russ and Nancy

As soon as I opened the door to my room, I felt at home. The Bluebonnet's best feature has to be the enchanting floral wallpaper that sets a cozy, calm tone. The victorian carved bed piled with pillows is a close second. I appreciated that the room neither felt unfinished, nor overly wrought, but instead like a favorite guest room. Everything I needed had already been thought of, from the water carafe on the nightstand, to the basket of cutlery, french press and electric kettle, take-out menus, and big fluffy bathrobe. In the morning, I made coffee and sat on the porch, soaking up the dry San Antonio heat. I am the last human on earth who does not have a cell phone, and the owner noticed this when I made my reservation and offered me one to borrow. When I arrived, it was waiting as promised, already charged. This is the sort of thoughtfulness that made my stay so pleasant. My room and bathroom were largely very clean and well kept. I did find a bit of dust on one of the plates, and the bathroom wallpaper had a few splatters, but there was so much to love about the place that these tiny things barely registered. I will say that the bed, which is a delight to sink into, is not the kind for those who need to sleep on something harder. It did not bother me, but some might ask in advance for the memory foam or the featherbed to be left off. Several of my friends were staying down the street in the Noble Inn (we were in town for a wedding), and though it was a nice place, I must say I prefer A Yellow Rose. Not only is it the better deal, but I think the rooms at A Yellow Rose just plain look better. I would not hesitate to come back again.

The room was excellent. Spacious, clean. Everything worked. Except for some banging in the pipes when the water ran it was very quiet and peaceful. It had an outstanding bathroom for a bed and breakfast, much larger and practical than most. However, the breakfast was 'optional' and overpriced and the innkeepers kept their distance. We were rushed through our orientation and then left on our own. We had to go to the visitor's center to get any sense of the what the historic neighbor had to offer. We don't expect to be fawned over, but part of the B&B experience is the personal touch. We had no interaction with other guests and almost none with the hosts. On this level it was more like checking into a motel than staying at a B&B.

What a hidden Gem! Just a block and 1/2 from the nicest stretch of the River Walk. No vehicle needed when you stay here. We walked all the way to the River Center on the river and walked back down S. Alamo, just a few miles total. Awesome! SA Downtown is stunning. Rosarios Mexican Cantina is less than a block away and the food was delicious. (More like a local hot spot than a tourist trap.) Deb and Kit were more than hospitable and the variety of music CD's and the player by the bed was a very nice touch. The bed was comfortable with many different pillows for picky people-of course we were not them! Why would anyone choose to stay anywhere else? Thanks again. We will be back soon! J and B

I stayed here solo for a few nights, while attending a meeting at the Gonzalez Convention Center. The room was great: plenty of room, a high ceiling, with a large bathroom. I opted for the 'continental' breakfast since I was headed out early each morning; cereal, baked goodies, juice, yogurt, fruit and juice was stocked in the in-room fridge. (Bonus: in room french-press with good, local coffee.) About a 10-minute walk to the convention center, and a couple of blocks to the riverwalk for my morning jog. Very convenient, but it feels off-the-beaten-path. I'll be back next time I'm in SA.

My stay at A Yellow Rose was idyllic. As a San Antonio native whose family has all moved out of the state, somewhere that successfully stands in as home is a real find! All of the little touches were much appreciated - french press coffee, wine glasses and bottle opener, fantastic robes, range of music, extra books, all great! Even cats roaming the courtyard. Being in town for Fiesta, A Yellow Rose could not have been a better choice for location - close enough to walk home from NIOSA, just out of the main downtown insanity to have perfect quiet at night, and the King William Fair and Parade out the front door. Breakfast on the porch for the Parade was an unparalleled treat! I will certainly be back. Thanks much for a wonderful Fiesta and birthday venue!

We didn't know a thing about Fiesta when we booked our 3 night stay at this Inn. Turns out we were right smack dab on the parade route and watched the event from the comfort of the Yellow Rose front porch. What we didn't know, was that we couldn't drive in or out of the neighborhood for a day, but it was well worth it. We got to stroll the streets of the historic King William neighborhood, people watch, view art and listen to music all day long, while giving our car a rest. Several very good restaurants are within a short walk, and this B&B is only 3 blocks from the San Antonio River Walk. We stayed in the Carriage House out in the back. It's up a short flight of stairs and is extremely quiet inside. The bedroom was dark-exactly like I like it for sleeping. It has a kitchenette with a full refrigerator and stove and a little living room which is separated from the bedroom by a long hallway. Everything was very clean. We particularly liked that our hosts are energy conscious. We had our choice of continental breakfast, full, or no breakfast. Since the last choice was by far the cheapest, we took it (you can walk to restaurants with good breakfasts that are very inexpensive). However, I can comment on the food, because on parade morning we were invited to partake of the breakfast tacos and accompaniments. Everything was scrumptious!

Great rooms, very quaintly and comfortably decorated. Beds were comfy. Extremely spacious bathroooms, esp for an older home. Justin and Deb went out of their way to make us feel welcome and work around our schedule since we were there during Fiesta and there were festivities in the neighborhood. Good value for the price also. Would most definitely stay there again.

Every time my wife and I visit our son in San Antonio we stay at A Yellow Rose. The rooms are beautiful, the chocolate chip cookies are yummy, the San Antonio River is just minutes away, there are plenty of great restaurants in the neighborhood, and Deb and Kit, the innkeepers, are delightful conversationalists. If they weren't such busy people, we might spend most of our time talking with them rather than visiting our son. A Yellow Rose is definitely a gem in the gorgeous King William District.

A Yellow Rose Bed & Breakfast is the perfect haven for a quiet get-away in the heart of San Antonio. How I wish there could be a way to pack the house in my suitcase and take A Yellow Rose everywhere I travel! It's home away from home and then some. The most welcoming hospitality, plush amenities, and comfort you can find.

I wanted to write my review un spanish, because Deb, told us, that in 13 years in the business, we were the second mexicans in A Yellow Rose. And we want to recomend this place to our people.

I found your B&B through the web. Sight unseen except for the internet, and just upon reading other people's reviews of your establishment, I booked a two nights stay. I must say that everything exceeded my expectations!!! The directions given to us through your confirmation email drove us right to the door of our room!!! You never know if the photos on the internet or the virtual tours are true and if they are up to date, but I will say for A Yellow Rose B&B everything is true!!! My mother, daughter and I spent 3 days and 2 nights in San Antonio here at A Yellow Rose it was a wonderful experience, clean rooms and bathroom, priced right!!! We stayed in the Carriage House it worked out just great for the three of us!!! If we ever get back to San Antonio we will be sure and once again stay at A Yellow Rose!!! We will be telling our friends as well!!!

I really enjoyed the quiet comfortable and charming room I stayed in at A Yellow Rose. It was a good combination of bed and breakfast ,luxury and privacy. It was really great walking around in the historic neighborhood it is in. Appreciate it!

This is my wife and I's second visit to A Yellow Rose and once again Deb, you have provide us with a excellent stay. This is the ONLY B and B in San Antoino that offers a rate based on what kind of breakfast you prefer, and even with the full breakfast it is still one of the most affordable places in town. Located right in the middle of the king williams district. only a block away from the blue line trolly pick up, you can buy a day pass from the Via Bus station and for $4 you can leave your car at the B and B and take the street trolly all over San Antonio all day long! Great Deal when you consider parking downtown in a garage can run you up to $15. Another great stay, can wait to come back!

Came for a family weekend and enjoyed the hospitality of Deb and Justin. Loved the coffee press, fresh coffee, fruits and pastries! Thanks for taking good care of us and providing great weather!

Thank you to our hosts at A Yellow Rose. The room was quiet and comfortable and lovely. The bathroom was large and updated. The breakfast was yummy and filling. It was a great place from which to base our San Antonio exploration.

I had a delightful time at the Yellow Rose Bed and Breakfast. It is a little off the beaten path so one must get detailed directions; but, once found, it is perfect, being situated in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood with dining and nightlife nearby. For those who like to travel on foot, it is well within walking distance to the downtown region and has easy access to bus and trolley transportion. The room was enormous, spotlessly clean and comfortable and the owners friendly and helpful.

What you get here is a very nice room with a private entrance, and a great breakfast delivered to you. There is very little in the way of "common space" in this b and b...very little to see other than your room. My room was very comfortable and attractive, the bed was superb, and the bath was roomy and well-outfitted. The breakfast was delicious, but so ample I couldn't do more than put a dent in it. Convenient location in the King William district, if that's where you need to be.

The owners of the Yellow Rose gave us great consideration and privacy during a difficult time in our lives. Although we had a short stay (one night,) it was a pause in our lives that refreshened us for a battle that lay ahead. The room was spacious, beautiful and clean. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. We only wish that we could have stayed longer. THANKS!

I just returned from a weeklong stay at A Yellow Rose. This was my second stay in the last year at this inviting B&B located in the wonderful King William district. Deb and Kit once again were fantastic hosts who really made me feel at home. I hope to return to San Antonio later this summer and would not think of staying anywhere but A Yellow Rose.

My husband and I stayed at the Yellow Rose for a quick getaway weekend. I would highly recommend this B&B. Deb and Kit have a great setup and the rooms are perfect, they are in the back of the house with private entry and porch. We found the location ideal. We spent the day touring the downtown and riverwalk, then look the walk back through the historic district before dinner. We went to the restaurants in the King William district at night, they are BY FAR better then the restaurants along the riverwalk. Priced better and better margaritas. They is even a nice outdoor bar called the Friendly Spot 2 blocks away from the B&B. Deb is always there to answer any questions. I would highly recommend this place!!

Our room, Bordeaux Room, was so cozy and peaceful. We weren't expectiing real cold weather since we are from the East Coast, but even though the days were warm, we were so busy driving to and from relatives homes or parties that all we wanted was a nice, quiet place and soft warm bed....and we got it all! Even the calico cat became our friend - we missed our own cats so much.

We were delighted in every way by our stay at the Yellow Rose. Deb was cordial and accommodating when I made reservations for my family. The rooms and furnishings were beautiful and thoughtfully stocked, and the service was exceptional throughout our stay. We even found homemade cookies waiting for us each night. I highly recommend the Yellow Rose and hope to visit again next year.

Great accomodations in a great neighborhood! We appreciated the "coffee-only" plan so we could enjoy breakfast tacos at Taco Haven and hit the Riverwalk. Deb provided direction when needed, thanks!

One of our favorite places to go is the King William District in San Antonio - we bring our bikes, park the car & ride all over the city at least twice a year. We've stayed at many B & Bs in the neighborhood and decided to try A Yellow Rose - we've now decided that this is where we'll stay for every one of our future visits. This B & B has everything you could want - the rooms are large and cozy with comfortable beds and every amenity , friendly hosts, but plenty of privacy, beautiful gardens and an affordable price. We're so happy we found you Deb & Justin! Thanks for everything! Jeanine & Andrew

The stay at the Yellow Rose was lovely, I had friends with me from England and they were very impressed with the B&B. It's located in a very historic area and close to the old Gunether Flour Mill which is a great place for breakfast after a nice walk through the neighborhood.

We had a great time and really liked the fact that we could choose our 'level' of breakfast. This gave us the opportunity to explore area restaurants. Deb was very helpful and was always available to answer questions or offer suggestions. The location was within walking distance to the Alamo and RiverWalk.

I only had two tiny regrets. I wished I would have had more time to just sit on the porch and relax and time for the full breakfast. I was here on business but hope to return with my family in Summer 2011 or 2012. John Frederick Bellwood, PA

This was my second visit to Yellow Rose. I was in SanAntonio for a convention and after a long day it was great to hop on the trolley and go "home" to this beautiful mansion where I had my own room, complete with my own little porch for a relaxing cup of tea and /or glass of wine. The neighborhood is safe, great places nearby. I only needed a cab one time and that was to return from downtown late at night. I felt safe, comfortable, and very much "at home" in this elegant yet homelike atmosphere. I hope to return again. Cindy Howe

We arrived when the proprietor was not there, but received the email instructions ahead of time about where to go to get the key to our room. It was such a peaceful and beautiful neighborhood. What a wonderful feeling compared to staying in a sterile hotel that looks like you could be anywhere once inside. This place was so "San Antone." We stayed two nights. While a breakfast selection was offered, we did not take that up as we had plans both mornings. I do recommend that you take a smaller car if you have one, the parking is tight. That said, we found a spot for out Toyota Sequoia both nights.

We stayed at A Yellow Rose, and everything about this place was absolutely wonderfull. Great hosts, nice, large, clean room (The Provence Room), homemade cookies, cute cats on the porch and a great location in a great neighbourhood not far from downtown. If we ever come back to san Antonio, this is where we wanna stay!

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and quiet. The food was really good and delivered to our room. We had a romantic breakfast in bed! The innkeepers were very nice and gave us lots of information. They even called to let us know about the weather before we arrived.

This is an absolutely charming Inn with nearby access to the beautiful Riverwalk. Exquisite, spacious rooms with a huge full bath are very comfortable and fastidiously clean. The King William District of San Antonio, where this charming B&B is located, has a great self guided, cell phone tour of several of the wonderful Victorian era homes nearby. Casbeer's at the Church, a local "have to" restaurant is only three blocks away. We had the full breakfast delivered to our room and it was exquisite. Bread Pudding, fresh and deliciously sweet strawberrys, homemade apple turnovers, French pressed coffee....Mmmm! The hosts are most accomodating and pleasant too. All this and the price is absolutely a bargain. My wife and I will definitely stay here again!

My husband and I loved staying here! The room was awesome and only blocks away from all the downtown attractions. The river was a short walk away and a beautiful walk up to the actual Riverwalk. This was our first leisure trip to San Antonio and we enjoyed every minute of it. The Yellow Rose was exceptional. The rooms were large, comfortable and clean. We loved that purchasing breakfast was optional. This allowed us to enjoy breakfast at some of the other locations including the Guenther House a few blocks away. Thanks for a wonderful stay and we look forward to visiting again.

It was my our first time to San Antonio and in a Bed & Breakfast. We were a little confused but we met the cleaning lady and she helped us out. We didn't see the owners or any other people. An envelope was waiting for us with instructions. However, the room was and location was great. The walk was more than 1 mile but older people would not be able to make it. The only thing that I would have preferred is breakfast or even a light breakfast but we didn't receive any food. It seems odd since this is a Bed & "Breakfast". -- Jessica & Josh

We stayed in the Carriage House from April 23-28,2010. It was okay for the price. What we didn't like, was that there was no patio or other area where you could sit outdoors and enjoy a lovely afternoon. The bed was very comfortable. We didn't see much of the innkeepers and would have liked to have had some questions answered. It would have been nice to have some dishtowels in the kitchen, and it would have been nice to have a pen and paper in the room. It was a very busy time for them, as Fiesta was on while we were there, maybe that's why we didn't see much of them. If you just want a comfortable place to sleep, this place if fine. Parking is a little tight. It is within walking distance of the Riverwalk, but it is a hike on a hot day. Of the restaurants we tried (that they had recommended) Boudro's on the Riverwalk is superb. I'll give you fair warning - driving in San Antonio, and area is a nightmare if you're not used to that kind of big city traffic - it's wild! The street system there is best described as a "skillet full of snakes". It is a lovely place to visit, except if you need to drive alot.

WE STAYED IN THE PROVINCE ROOM ON A ROMANTIC GETAWAY FOR OUR ANIVERSARY. THE STAY WAS PERFECT, ROOM IS LARGE,CLEAN AND JUST WONDERFUL. INN IS LOCATED A VERY SHORT TROLLEY RIDE FROM RIVERWALK, CAN ALSO WALK 2 BLOCKS TO NON COMERCIAL END OF RIVERWALK WHICH IS VERY PEACEFUL. THE AREA IS VERY QUITE AND RELAXING, GREAT FOR WALKS. ROSARIO'S IS 1 BLOCK AWAY AND IS AMONG BEST TEX-MEX WE HAVE HAD. ALSO RECOMEND GUENTHER HOUSE FOR BREAKFAST. THE OWNER DEB WAS VERY HELPFUL. SHE WAS VERY NON-INTRUSIVE, ALWAY THERE IF NEEDED OTHER WISE THE PLACE WAS OURS AS IF WE OWNED IT. WE CAN NOT WAIT TO GO BACK.

We stayed in the Bordeaux Room. It's very large and comfortable, with a bathroom big enough for a small army. Kit and Deb are wonderful hosts (you must not mind the presence of numerous animals) and Esme (who keeps things clean and tidy) is a gem. Privacy ranks high with us, and the separate entrances provide it. The neighborhood is historic and safe, with restaurants to die for.

A Yellow Rose exceeded all of our expectations. My wife and I had reserved four of the five rooms for a weekend family getaway. The accomodations were spacious, very clean, and well appointed. The breakfast offerings were delicious, although not provided until 9:00 AM, which was a little later than I prefer, but was perfect for everyone else. The King William district is charming. Book your stay over the first Friday of the month and you'll be able to attend the street arts, crafts, and music fair that's only a block away from A Yellow Rose. The fair was more entertaining than the Riverwalk. Only one word of caution. If you're driving a full size vehicle, navigating the narrow drive and tight parking in the rear of the Inn can be challenging. You mIght consider parking on the street

We were looking for a location to stay on the San Antonio Riverwalk for a few days. But the cost of a room in a hotel on or even near the Riverwalk was more then what we wanted to pay. We did some research and came upon the Yellow Rose. It was just what we needed. Cost was within our budget and the walk to the Riverwalk was also what we needed. The suite was perfect, containing, radio/CD player, television, refrigerator, and variety of reading materials and local information. A porch to sit on and enjoy the local wildlife. The Fields were very non-obtrusive but available when needed. We had a wonderful time and would recommend the Yellow Rose Bed and Breakfast as a great-get-away. Doug and Dianne Clapp Colorado
