A beautiful oasis, the Rose room so romantic with furniture and furnishings holding me in the the spirit of more connected times when things were built with care, dependability and a shared sense of worthiness. The Rose room's charming bathroom set up did not have a bathtub, but did have a very fine shower with solid tiles. The nights were quiet and peaceful. The breakfasts were a delight (with my choices made the day before from a clear list of options), with a warmth of conversation with owner John who was both respectful and friendly and brimming with thoughtful caring responses to any questions about the surrounding area. I had communicated that I would be arriving late the first evening, and everything was arranged for me to be able to enter and settle in easily and comfortably.
We spent an evening in the Duck Room of this 18th Century B&B. It was a totally warming and charming experience. The room was exquisitely decorated and functional. The morning breakfast was wonderful, and the Inn Keeper very gracious. We'll definitely stay there again if the opportunity presents itself.
We've been to the Sept Brimfield show twice (2015 and 2016) and stayed at the Red Maple Inn both times and we love it! It's so cozy and the Rose Room is amazing - comfortable, charming decor, clean, and quiet. Brimfield is about 15 minutes away (a pretty drive) and the "brown bag" breakfast is perfect for getting an early start. The Mexican restaurant just down the road (walkable) is excellent. Shari and John are so sweet and accommodating - the perfect hosts!
The innkeeper/staff at the Red Maple were most accommodating, and made our 2-night stay both stress-free and delicious. Aside from being very clean and fully decorated in period pieces, the Peach room was well equipped with full-cable TV, hair dryer and air conditioning. If you had read other reviews and like me, gravitated toward the few that mentioned spotty wi-fi or airplane-sized bathroom of this particular room, FEAR NOT! We needed in-room Internet connection (business never seems to stop) and it was strong and free - we never experienced any problems. And the bathroom is fine - it's quaint and the shower is fully stocked with built-in options of quality (not the typical hotel goo.. our hair was noticeably bouncy). The room is wonderful and although a noise cancellation device is provided for anyone super-sensitive, it was plenty quiet without it. We were provided breakfast options and could set our own time which was nice. Everything was fresh and good - a great way to start a day of antique shopping and a night at the local drive-in. Thank you so much for the getaway, Red Maple Inn team!
Greeted by John after a trying drive from Logan Airport, he showed us to our room and directed us to an excellent place for supper. Comfortable night followed by a first class breakfast set us up for a visit to Old Sturbridge Village near by.
Wow! Wow! Wow! My friend Suzanne and I biked the rise room for two glorious nights and this haven exceeded our expectations. After hours of scoring amazing Brimfield finds we got to come home to the coziest room that just put a smile on our faces from the minute we parked the car. Beds were super comfortable, spacious, well kept and elegant old world charm. Loved the honor system in the hallway snack bar, morning coffee, wine and chocolate in the evening as well as the products left in the room for our use. Including face wipes my favorite and ear plugs which I needed because my beautiful friend slightly snores. I didn't want to leave and will forever stay at Red Maple Inn for every Brimfield adventure to come. Thank you!!!!!!!
Nothing but great things to say about the Red Maple Inn. Especially loved the 40’s Jazz in the sitting room, the delicious food, and the comfortable rooms. Could not have been happier with our stay.
Shari and John are the consummate hosts. We stayed in the Rose Room on the first floor...it was charming. The restored home is lovely and the stay very comfortable. Great restaurants and interesting historical sites are close by and Spencer is a beautiful little New England town. Highly recommended.
We were very surprised at this great find. Our first trip to the New England area and I decided on this location to view the western part of Ma. The area was beautiful and the Inn was very interesting. John and Shari made us feel like family. It is out of the way, but well worth the stay.
My recent stay at The Red Maple Inn was wonderful! The location convenient to all the locations I planned on visiting, and in a nice safe area. The home is beautiful, staff welcoming, caring and helpful. Bathroom a bit small for someone of my size, but in the room, which was all I was looking for. Food was wonderful and plentiful, caringly prepared with fresh ingredients. I would stay again.
We enjoyed our stay at the Red Maple Inn. Our host was pleasant and attentive. Breakfast was tasty, and enjoyable. I was disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. Corners were dusty, as was the cloth decor / drapes near the bed. For a B&B, it should be sparkling and spotless, but it was not. They could (and should) do better.
I wanted to emphasize the outstanding dining experience and amazing service, but didn't want to give fewer than 5 for the other categories! In your head, please add two extra stars for both service and dining. And value. Two extra stars each for service, dining and value. You should also add "Melida" in the listing after the owners. She runs the Inn on her own from November to May and provides the service, cleanliness and dining! Her breakfast was outstanding and we love chatting with her. This is our second New Year stay at the Red Maple and we plan on booking again for 2014 ASAP. Beautiful, fabulous, snuggly, sophisticated, invitingly creaky! It's a beautiful bed and breakfast and it's perfectly run.
"Our stay at the inn was very romantic, comfortable, clean and well appointed. If your journey takes you off the beaten path, this place will suit your needs. Centrally located to either explore central or western MA and romantic enough to stay indoors. The Innkeeper, Melida, was very gracious, informative and accommodating The breakfast she prepared was imaginative and "yummy." We plan to return.
We were looking for a couple of nights accommodation and the Red Maple Inn fitted the bill perfectly. I had viewed the You Tube videos about the inn before I booked and was happy with what I saw. I was not disappointed and I would recommend the Red Maple Inn without hesitation.
I enjoyed my stay at the Red Maple Inn. The staff was lovely and the three course breakfast was delicious. The inn was very quaint and pretty. My only complaint is that the bathroom in the Peach Room was extremely small to the point that a tall person would probably not be able to use the toilet! Other than that it was great.
I would suggest modifying the front step. It's a little high and my father almost had a bad spill. perhaps an additional step or a railing. The bathrooms were a little difficult to use - I know there's no much you can do to alter the space, but perhaps a hand-held shower head and a cut-off switch would be a cheap and worthwhile addition.
Having formally owned the Inn in 1989, I was impressed with the continued remodeling, of the interior. The decor in the entire facility was period oriented (early 1800). The cottage was the room of choice, and we were not disappointed with the deluxe Bath, kitchenette, and the comfortable sleeping area. The inn keeper was warm and friendly, and a delight to speak with. Job well done, would recommend to anyone looking for a warm and friendly stay, RP
Driving up to the beautiful Red Maple Inn immediately reduced most of our tension created by a very disappointing B&B experience in Cambridge. Innkeepers John and Sherry greeted us at the door, and escorted us to the "honeymoon cottage." We didn't need a kitchenette, but For those who enjoy a kitchenette, this one is delightfully appointed. My 3-star rating for cleanliness means "met my expectations". Red Maple Inn was immaculate, thus meeting my expectations. Would any of us expect less than immaculate in our lodging choices? The bed was comfortable, with lovely linens and cozy comforters. Be careful if you get up during the night. There is a trunk at the end of the bed that could cause bumped toes. I "cushioned" the trunk with the bedspread. Wifi connection is not available in the cottage, but seriously, is that what you want to do at a lovely B&B? We had good connection in the backyard, and in the parlor. Here's what I loved about John's breakfast. A) it was delicious, and B) we were able to select our choices the night before, which gave us the opportunity to request specific amounts and avoid wasted food. If you're under 50, ignore this comment. The two TVs are appropriately small. We don't watch much TV, but John and Sherry have a great selection of movies, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to watch an old favorite. We watched from bed, and viewing was a challenge. If you are a real TV addict, use the one in the "parlor," pull the comfy wicker armchairs up close to the screen, turn on the fireplace, and wrap yourselves in the cozy throws provided.
The cottage room was very cozy and well-appointed. We were disappointed that this particular (and most expensive) room did not have internet access. We would have had to go to the sitting area of the Main House to be able to use the internet. The breakfasts were well-prepared....
