I would highly recommend Monroe Manor. It's out in the country but close enough to be in downtown South Haven in minutes. Very high quality bedding and towels. The people running were very nice and professional. All made for a great stay. What made the stay a great experience was the breakfasts. I like to cook and living near Chicago I have a high bar when it comes to impressing blame but I was. I still can't get over the bacon. I can't wait to go back.
We stayed in the Library Suite because we wanted privacy. A bit pricey, but absolutely worth it! Roomy, comfortable cottage-type suite. Charming decor and great care taken in providing all the comforts of home. We needed a quiet weekend of rest with a little shopping, good food, talc, etc. Breakfast was tasty, not sumptuous, but very well prepared and delivered in a charming basket placed quietly (and not too early) outside our door. We will definitely stay here again!
My mother, sister, & I stayed at Serendipity for a weekend getaway. We loved the Rose & Iris rooms which were very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was just for our rooms and also very clean and well supplied. Breakfasts were delicious, with fresh fruit, fresh baked goods, and a hearty egg dish each day. The location couldn't be better. We would definitely come back!
Everything was great, except there wasn't any coffee in the suite. We had our breakfast delivered, but it would have been nice to have a cup of coffee in the room, before 9:15. Everything else was wonderful!
This Bed & Breakfast was absolutely wonderful. The rooms were clean & service was great. Wish we would have gotten a bit more food during breakfast, but overall it was great! Definitely will be going back :)
The owners, John & Jitka go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable and their morning breakfast is outstanding!! It's only 6 miles into ST JOSESPH'S and so much to do! WELL WORTH THE STAY!!
We have stayed at many B&B's and we know what to expect. The Sand Castle is in a great location. Close to beach and Downtown. That being said it is looking shabby. Needs painting, rooms need to be up dated and the porch could use some new furniture. Breakfast was good, the staff very friendly and the pool was very nice. Would stay again but I hope they fix the Place up before we decide to come back.
Could not be any happier with our choice of B&B in Saugatuck; we stayed in their Stableman's Suite (loft style layout) and it was super roomy - which felt even bigger with the vaulted ceiling. Had its own kitchen countertop/sink (no stove though!) and a nice fridge where we stored fruit and the leftover scones from our first breakfast. The breakfast in our room was delivered to our door in a picnic basket each morning. The meals were piping hot and savory - accompanied by scone/blueberry coffee cake and mixed fruits each morning. Fantastic way to start a morning! Only suggestion would be hot sauce packets of some kind with the breakfast? service was slamming too, david was always available by phone when we needed him. Highly recommend!
The only negative thing that occurred, was a helasious noise one evening in a close proximity to the back bedroom, which kept my friend up all evening, and she complained to me about it the next morning. I did not hear the noise, as my bedroom was in the front of the house. I called it to David's (innkeeper) attention, he figured out the problem to be the watersoftner which recycled at 2:00 AM. David adjusted the timer on the watersoftner to recycle during the day when were out, thus the problem was solved.
Spent two nights in the Monroe Room. The room and Inn were quaintly decorated. The Inn location in a quiet area, away from town noises, was a plus for us. The bed was very comfortable and the shower divine. The breakfasts were outstanding. We met Nancy and she was very helpful with activities and restaurants in town. We will definitely stay again.
Had a recent two night stay with some friends for a girls weekend. Our stay at Serendipity was great. The location close to downtown, once we arrived we didn't need to drive during our stay. Accommodations were perfect for us; plenty of room to hang out and visit. We loved the enclosed front porch. Breakfast was wonderful; brought to our suite every morning. The innkeepers were very friendly and available for any questions. Suggested activities. This was not my first stay at the b & b and won't be the last
It was comforgtable. Within walking distance of downjtown Saugatuck. The breakfast was excellent and hot upon arrival. Dave, the owner showed us all the facilities on their property, was very pleasant and responsive to needs. Would stay again
We spent two nights at Serendipity. The location was great for wandering around town, but also easy to get over to Douglas or up to Holland without having to drive through the pedestrian-heavy parts of Saugatuck. Our room was small, but that comes with the territory of an old building, and it still had the creature comforts we expect from a B and B stay. Coffee and tea were brought upstairs in the morning before we went down for breakfast, and breakfast was delicious. Just enough to start your day and feel energized to go, but not so much that you over ate. David and June were full of great suggestions about things to do and places to explore.
My husband and I love this place! The rooms are so nice/well kept. She keeps towel warmers on and cozy fresh robes. It's a nice touch. The grounds are well kept and the hot tub is secluded and surrounded by lush landscaping. Breakfast is served on the porch. Amazing food and good coffee! Each couple gets their own chair and table. It's really nice. And of course fresh flowers from the grounds at each table. Everything is SUPER clean. She has little special touches all over the place to make your stay special. Although I personally don't drink, the wine looked very appetizing at 4:00. It's quiet and off the beaten path. We'll be back again and again! Nancy is friendly but not too "in your business". The stay is as private or as friendly as you make it! I feel so relaxed!
Great B&B for a weekend getaway! We stayed with another couple in one of the suites. Very close to downtown Saugatuck with lots of shops and restaurants. David and June were very helpful with recommendations and provided a fabulous breakfast delivered to our door every morning.
Had never stayed at a b and b before. The entire grounds were beautifully kept. I felt welcomed upon arrival as if it was my own home. The room were cozy and very clean with much attention to detail. The other guests were pleasant and we enjoyed their company. The hosts, John and Jitka were lovely.
We were more than impressed with this B&B. The room was lovely, the breakfast was great both days and Ginger and her staff couldn't have been nicer. We loved the grounds and the beautiful flowers and views from all over the property. Had read a negative review before we booked. It could not have been more wrong. Glad we didn't influence us.
Very hospitable hosts, clean, well furnished rooms and a wonderful gourmet breakfast all while surrounded by beautiful landscaping. We had a great time and would definitely return! Thanks Jitka and John!
