Surrounded by gently rolling farmland under a vast prairie sky, Steever House Bed & Breakfast welcomes you to the Great Plains of eastern South Dakota.

This was my favorite B&B on a 3000 mile New Orleans to Minnesota and back trip. Out in the quiet farmland, but only 15 minutes from Sioux Falls where I found great BBQ and yoga to work out the driving kinks. Unlike many B&Bs, the family lives in this house. The Steevers will make you feel right at home and treat you like family; the property has been in their family for 6 generations. One of the most breath taking sunsets I've seen in a long time.

Reached the young age of 60 and added an experience i enjoyed and will do again. John, Sara and Lilly are very comfortable people and i thank them for sharing their beautiful home with others. I was glad Lilly was there. She helped me from missing my dog Sophie. Lilly sensed it and i appreciated that too....John is a great cook.....Sara is a true lady of the house!

We stayed in the Rose room, and found it to be beautiful, but the bathroom was very tiny. As we were the only guests that night, we were offered the opportunity to take any of the rooms, but we declined. Had we seen the bathroom, we MIGHT have changed our minds. The whole family seems to run this place, and they were all very hospitable. This isn't a place with a lot of frills, but it is very cozy and homey, and we were very comfortable there.

We stayed in both the Yellow Room and the Attic Suite, both were very different but both were amazing. Our hosts were beyond friendly, out-going and accommodating. They made you feel like you were staying at a familiar relatives home; a place where you could truly kick back and relax. There is no question that there will be another Steever House get-a-way in out future.

I would definitely recommend the Steever House to anyone who is staying in the Sioux Falls area. My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in the attic suite which included a whirlpool bathtub and shower built for two- very relaxing and extremely private. The interior was beautifully restored, and the innkeeper was very friendly and eager to share the history of his home. Great breakfast, too! We will definitely be returning next year when we go to visit my mom in South Dakota!

The Steever House is a real home and we felt totally welcomed and pampered. My husband and I were snowed in here, and John cooked us three meals a day while we happily relaxed by the parlor fire with Betty the dog. John and Sara incorporated us into the family dinner. We talked and laughed and ate. We loved it all!

My husband and I received a night's stay as a gift from our children. Having never stayed at a B&B before, we did not know what to expect. It was awesome! Our attic room, the hot tub, the fireplace, everything set a beautiful, romantice evening for us. The family style breakfast in the morning was a gourmet delight. On a scale of 1 to 10? 10!

I happened by this site & the Steever House listing caught my eye. Along with my sisters & a niece, we stayed here when it first opened. We were greatly impressed with the comfort, great food, great conversation, and excellent accomodations. To this day, this Bed & Breakfast remains my favorite. I was so impressed with the comfort of the surroundings, that I incorporated parts of the house design into our new home hoping to capture the atmosphere of a great experience! I highly recommend a stay with these great folks!
