We love the ambience of the inn, the warm welcome of the innkeepers, the close proximity to good food, wine, shopping. We stop here every trip to FL, since it is about half way. Discovered the Darien Waterfront Inn several years ago and look forward to each visit. Highly recommend it!
We really enjoyed our stay - the rooms were clean and neat with comfortable beds. We enjoyed chatting with other guests with a glass of wine on the porch. The Innkeepers were great and served a yummy breakfast. Darien is a cute little town - off the beaten path type of place that we really enjoyed exploring.
After putting in 12 hour days, 7 days a week for almost a year, I needed something without the hustle and bustle of daily life and this was it!! Very quite and serene, but still close enough to "modern civilization". The property was exceptionally clean and well appointed. Joann and David were very friendly and the consummate hosts. And the breakfasts were FABULOUS!! The spinach and feta quiche was the best I've had anywhere! Good Job!
We have stayed with Jo Ann multiple times going back to her opening. The Darien area is a jewel of the low country with a people and a heritage that puts you back in a simpler time. The Inn's deck is huge and overlooks a river. The deck is shadowed by two large sails that make it the perfect place to enjoy a nap, a good book, good conversation, or a cool drink. Each room is differently decorated but all are wonderful and immaculately clean. The Continental breakfast is second only to the great time you'll have talking with Jo Ann and the other guests. Nearby restaurants and the wine bar are great as well. The Darien Waterfront Inn is a bed and breakfast where you will feel at home but pampered, welcome at anytime, but never pressured to fit a schedule. We'll see you there.
Literally the best B&B we have encountered from the standpoint of service, gracious welcome. The facility itself is beautiful and meticulously maintained. Tom (proprietor) goes out of his way to provide a warm welcome and accommodate requests. He is also a first-rate chef. When my wife asked for a straight chair so she could more easily use her laptop, Tom upgraded us to a room with a table and chairs -- a suite that ordinarily costs considerably more. This was done with grace and a smile. A full pitcher of fresh orange was provided so we could enjoy our screwdrivers on the lovely veranda. Absolutely first rate. The Ritz Carlton would not have been up to the same standard.
This lovely hotel is ideally situated on the waterfront near the lighthouse on St. Simon's Island. Five-minute walk to restaurants shops and museums make this very convenient. A ten-minute drive brings you to more restaurants, cafes and shops. All this, a 90 minute drive from Hilton Head/Savannah Airport make this an easy spot for a relaxing weekend.
WE STAYED FOR FIVE NIGHTS FROM OCT 23 TO OCT 26TH. WE STAYED IN THE PENTHOUSE YOU COULD NOT ASK FOR A BETTER ROOM OR BALCONY(GREAT VIEW OF LIGHTHOUSE) QUIET STREET..5 MINUTE WALK TO THE VILLAGE.THE BED,,LIVING AREA AND STAFF ALL GREAT.COFFEE 24 HOURS A DAY.IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY HERE STAY AT HOME YOU CAN'T BE PLEASED.
A very lovely place to stay. A great location, with in walking distance of the heart of St. Simon. The staff is very kind and helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. I am planning my next vacation back to this lovely place.
Nice location and facility to spend a few days. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean and up to date. The breakfast was very limited with mostly sweet rolls and a few other items. The pool was not very clear and looked unsatisfactory to swim in based on our standards. I noticed other guests mentioned this so they are just not checking it daily as they should for a public facility. Yes, we would return here again!
Our second stay at the Inn. We have very much enjoyed St. Simons Island and the Inn. The area has an exceedingly rich history of which the Inn is a part. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and very comfortable. We'll be back one day!
We have stayed at the St. Simons Inn many times and it is our go-to place on the island. This trip was the first time I was not 100% impressed with the room. Room 110 was not very up-to-date. The vanity and sink in bathroom are not user-friendly and provide no counter-top space to place toiletries. This room had carpet and did not feel as clean as other rooms we have stayed in here.
Spent my anniversary at St. Simons Inn by the Lighthouse. Loved the location, right in the middle of everything. The bed was nice and comfortable. The carpet seemed a little dirty. It had a recliner in the room that was broke.
Nice size clean room. Close to all the activities. We could walk everywhere we wanted to go. Breakfast items available were fresh. Good variety of cold breakfast items. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
