La Farge Perry House has a perfect location, within walking distance to all of the major Newport attractions, yet far enough away from the active nightspots to provide a restful atmosphere for those that wish to relax. This charming estate was once occupied by renowned painter and stained glass artist, John La Farge and his wife Margaret, the grand-niece of Commodore Matthew Perry. In the heart of historic Newport, experience unparalleled amenities in our five timelessly appointed guest rooms. Each has been uniquely designed to fit the distinctive characteristics of the famous personalities who once lived here. With handmade linens and 300 thread count sheets, the rooms have extraordinary comfort; many with small sitting areas and most having either a single or double jacuzzi bath tubs. A full breakfast is served in a beautiful dining room where you are surrounded by scenes of Newport on a mural original to the house painted in 1900. Here you’ll experience an enchanting town that offers a variety of things to do including tours of the famous Newport Mansions, one-of-a-kind boutiques and a busy waterfront. So whether you’re interested in walking along Newport’s Cliff Walk, Easton’s Beach or within the historic district, our inn places you right at the center of the city. The local knowledge of Paula James, the innkeeper, will help you with answers to any questions about our inn or current activities in Newport (including dining, shopping, arts, history, sports, etc).

La Farge Perry House Newport, RI

5 on September 16, 2018

My husband and I stayed at the LaFarge Perry House 8/29 - 9/1/18. We had such a great time! The inn is beautiful and we loved the proximity to the harbor and downtown. We were able to walk almost everywhere and leave our car at the inn. The free parking was definitely a plus. We also took advantage of their relationship with the Chandler at Cliff Walk for parking to go to the beach and the cliff walk. The staff there was excellent as well. The innkeeper, Paula, was very helpful and personable. She offered several suggestions for dining, house tours, and anything else we needed. We also enjoyed the wine and cheese each evening. I would highly recommend the LaFarge Perry House. We will definitely be back.

Great little Romantic get away

5 on August 29, 2018

My wife and I stayed at the LaFarge Perry house for our third time from 2004-present. 2006 was last before present. It was our Anniversary, and we looked forward to sharing things with the inn keeper about our lives since our last stay. Sadly she was no longer there but Paula, the present Inn Keeper, was a worthy successor. Everything was great, from breakfast to advice about Newport. we look forward to coming again soon.

Exceeded our expectation.

The rooms were beautiful and very clean, the staff were very cordial and helpful. We would definitely return, should we have the opportunity to visit Newport again!

A pleasant change

4.2 on August 23, 2018

Staying in a B&B was a novel experience for us as we usually stay in 4 and 5 star hotels. We were pleasantly delighted with the hospitality and quality of the accommodation. The welcome and help from the inn keeper exceeded our expectations. We will definitely look at other B&B accommodations when next we travel.

Our 25th Wedding Anniversary get away

5 on August 20, 2018

My husband and I stayed at the La Farge Perry House for our 25th anniversary celebration from August 13 - 16, 2018. Both Heidi and Paula couldn't have been more accommodating. From suggesting places to eat, making reservations for us, sharing information about Newport's shops and night life, etc. Our room was lovely (3rd floor- Margaret La Farge room) and our breakfast was outstanding each day. We loved the wine & cheese hour from 4-5 PM daily! We can't wait to return.

extremely helpful even before I arrived! 2nd stay

I love staying at La Farge Perry. I was having a party in Newport. I live in Houston. They helped with rooms in there inn as well as great recommendations for other places when they didn't have room. They helped with restaurant reservations before I arrived. I had special requests about blankets, pillows and arrival times. They took care of everything beautifully. It was a wonderful stay!

Historic and Delightful Inn

5 on July 28, 2018

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. The innkeeper, Paula, and her assistant, Heidi, were gracious, professional, charming and enthusiastic. This is our 4th visit to Newport over the years. This was one of the best places of all, not fussy but comfortable and homey. The made-to-order breakfasts were delicious. There were many choices tailored to each guest. Wine and cheese were served in the parlor in the late afternoon. And of course, I must mention the delicious chocolate chip cookies as an added bonus. The location of the Inn and the ability to park on the property are a real plus. We definitely would return on our next visit. Highly recommend.

A wonderful Newport, RI B & B

5 on May 16, 2018

My girlfriend and I decided to take a long weekend trip to Newport and we decided to stay at the La Farge Perry House. Are we glad that we did! The innkeeper, Paula James, is a charming, delightful woman who could not be more welcoming and accommodating if she tried. (She also makes wonderful breakfasts!). The entire house is beautifully decorated in early 1900s period furniture. There is a cozy parlor which is where the complimentary afternoon wine, cheese and fresh baked cookies are served. The dining room has a large dining table that seats 10 as well as a small, quiet alcove with a couple of tables for two. We stayed in the Oliver Perry room which is beautifully done in a nautical theme. It features a very comfortable four poster king size bed with a dresser, desk, sofa, chair and a gas fire place. And there’s also a coffeemaker! The bathroom was spacious with a large shower/bathtub/jacuzzi. The bathroom closet also had a mini fridge with coffee creamer and bottled water. The entire house is immaculately clean and the housekeeping staff was very gracious. We loved this place so much that we sent innkeeper Paula James flowers after our stay as a way to say “Thank you!” for making us feel so at home.

First choice in Newport B&Bs

4.6 on February 22, 2018

We stay at a B&B in Newport every year or two. This was our first visit to the LaFarge Perry house, but it won’t be our last. The house is gorgeous and in pristine condition, the history is real and fascinating, and the Inkeeper could not be more gracious - a delightful lady. We’ve enjoyed each of the dozen or so B&Bs we’ve tried in Newport but this is a cut above - a real treat.
