The Adams Family goes on Vacation to Collinwood.

3.2 on March 08, 2018

We wanted a "warm" place to stay, different from other B+B' s. It was very "Gothic" looking for sure, but I'm not complaining about that. The room where we stayed was very colorless. The hot breakfasts were excellent, however, the breads were dry and tasteless. The beds were comfy and the Jacuzzi was cool. The gas fireplace only worked half the time. I was homesick before the first night was over.

One day and night getaway from the kids, everyone should do this

The room was clean, cozy and warm. The place was quiet and safe. Parking on property was a big bonus and free wifi. Will be going back.

What a pleasant surprise! This is truly one of the best Bed and Breakfast we have ever visited. The rooms are individually decorated, not cookie cutter, and well appointed. The home is walking distance to several mansions and the famous Cliff Walk. Don and Jacquie are wonderful hosts and do everything to make the stay enjoyable Breakfasts are a gourmet's delight. Needless to say, we had an outstanding experience at The Ivy Lodge.

The Ivy Lodge - a GREAT place to stay in Newport.

We have stayed at The Ivy Lodge a number of times. It's very convenient to the mansions and cliff walk..the Tennis Hall of Fame...just everything. The breakfasts are superb and the innkeepers are very helpful and friendly. We love to sit out on the porch with our morning coffee when we are there. Check it out...you won't be disappointed.

A perfect location, thrown back in time yet updated with comfort and convenience, and very pleasant place to stay. I would enjoy taking in all the elegance at a more leasurely pace next time, experiencing all that is offered throughout this property. Darlene is a gem as well...

Cozy Anniversary Weekend at the Ivy Lodge

5 on April 26, 2013

Our 2nd time staying at the Ivy Lodge. Beautiful, large, well-appointed room (Queen Ann Room) with a king size bed and fireplace. Perfect quiet location steps away from the cliff walk, yet close enough to walk to the action on Thames Street. Delicious full breakfast each morning, someone knows their way around a kitchen!! Thank you Darlene for all the recommendations and for making our stay in Newport the best yet! Ted and Krysti

Ivy Lodge was outstanding

I surprised my wife with a weekend stay at the Ivy Lodge. It was a superior experience. The room was beautiful, the lodge itself was breath-taking and it was walking distance to the Walk and we could see many of the mansions along the way.

Great Place to Stay

Fun honeymoon getaway

3.4 on April 04, 2011

My wife and I stayed at the Ivy Lodge during the second half of our honeymoon. We had a great romantic time. Our room featured a gas fireplace, four-poster canopy bed and the house’s turret. The Ivy Lodge is a good walk or short cab ride to shopping and dining. It is comfortably located in the mansion district not far from Bellevue Avenue. Daryl and Darlene McKenzie are knowledgeable about the area and are easy to talk to. They are extremely accommodating and provide a satisfying breakfast each morning. Very fun experience and well worth the stay--cozy accommodations.

We'll Be Back!

This is a lovely and very comfortable place and the Innkeepers, Darlene and Daryl McKenzie, couldn't be more obliging. We were able to park in their lot way ahead of check-in time, a great convenience as we wanted to walk around the neighborhood and along the Cliff Walk. We only had a one night visit but loved the architecturally facinating house, and the food was great! This is a superb location, within a walk to the mansions and Eaton's Beach, and not far from a number of restaurants and shops. After we had checked out, they told us we were welcome to come back later for lemonade. We will definitely come back for another visit, when we can have a longer stay.
