Recently spent 3 nights in the private corner room at the inn. Robert was an excellent host and pride of ownership was visible both in the inn as well as the meticulous grounds. Robert gave us wonderful suggestions for sightseeing and dining. I enjoyed rekindling my love of jigsaw puzzles. The breakfasts were scrumptious and so filling that we only snacked until dinner. We enjoyed our trip to Amish Country and hope to return.

Ina Vogel

I highly recommend staying at this B&B. Robert is so welcoming and gave some great recommendations on the best places to go. The food was sensational and it was in such a great location, close to everything.
5 on July 29, 2017
The house and grounds are so nice and well kept. We enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere, and appreciated the freedom to enjoy a (provided) snack and late night beverage while relaxing in the comfortable living/sitting area. Breakfast was superb. Robert was an attentive and thoughtful and helpful host. No question we would come back again!
5 on July 26, 2017
This B&B exceeded my expectations. It was my second choice not being able to get in to my first choice. However, it must have been fate. Our room was much larger than what the picture made it look. Our bathroom was great with a full sized standing shower. The decorations and paint is beautiful and flawless--like out of a House Beautiful magazine. Very clean and meticulously kept. Robert, the owner/host was very attentive and has thought of everything from having a refrigerator available for guest use to homemade cookies and a variety of beverages available 24/7. Location is easy access to all Lancaster area attractions. Value is excellent!

Everything I look for in a B&B. The house is lovely, the place immaculate. The host, Robert, is as personable as you could hope to find, and very helpful with anything we asked. Oh, and the breakfasts were quite good. Whether you're looking for a place to relax or a launching point for your visit to Lancaster, you won't be disappointed.

We spent two nights at the inn while visiting Lancaster county. The room, inn and grounds were lovely. Robert was a great host--very friendly, helpful and a great cook. Unfortunately our room was close to the highway and the traffic noise never let up all night. Not recommended for light sleepers. Also the first night the A/C went out and it was very uncomfortable. Robert jumped right on it the next morning and had it fixed pronto.
5 on July 02, 2017
Robert, you make everyone feel as if this B&B is their home. It is so relaxing and well decorated. As always we look for the puzzle as we love doing puzzles during the winter months. Your breakfasts are phenomenal as always and you attention to everyone's needs in beyond reproach. Kenny and Sandy

My wife and I like to visit the area and Robert's B&B when we can get away for a few days. Robert always comes up with new attractions to check out. This time it was a little known about grain mill a short distance away. Our last review was Sept. 2016. This time we were hosted on June 4 thru 7-- another great time. I'll repeat the same advice.... Go there! You'll be happy you did. Mickey and Sandy Conlee

After Eight is our go-to B&B when we are in Lancaster. We were thankful to find this wonderful B&B several years ago and have spent many weekends enjoying Roberts hospitality. This past weekend we celebrated our wedding anniversary and as always we were not disappointed. The rooms are bright, clean and comfy, the breakfasts delicious and the grounds spectacular. Robert is the perfect host and innkeeper and he is attentive to his guests and always has a funny story to share. It is in a perfect location for experiencing the beauty and charm of Lancaster.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at After Eight B&B over Mother's Day weekend 2017. The weather did not dampen our experience at all! The home was exquisitely decorated and was comfortable in every room. The breakfast was delicious! Robert was very a gracious host and would recommend staying here to anyone!

My two sisters, a niece, and I stayed here and we were exceedingly pleased with our choice. The cottage was perfect for our needs with two bedrooms a comfortable living dining area and adequate bathroom. Everything was clean, tidy, and comfortably appointed. Breakfast was tasty and Robert's breakfast time storytelling was fun. We will definitely book here again and will probably make this a yearly sisters trip.

My wife and I enjoyed a one night stay at 'After Eight B&B' after attending a local show. We were both immediately impressed with the beautifully decorated and very well-groomed garden and property grounds. The free parking was spacious and easily accommodated our SUV. We were equally impressed with our clean and pleasantly scented bedroom. Our private bathroom was spotless and featured elegant bathroom fixtures and finishings. The host provided customer service that was timely and attentive. We enjoyed a very warm, welcoming, and safe atmosphere.

We stayed in the Private Corner Room this past weekend, which was absolutely perfect. Very clean, attention to detail is amazing and was a comfortable stay for the weekend. Robert, the Inn Keeper, was wonderful, offering advice on where to visit, eat, and took the time to mark certain areas of interest on a map of Lancaster. Both breakfasts were beautifully made and Robert's stories were a great start to a morning. Several areas of the house were set up to interact with others - puzzle area, sitting room with computer, TV, it was very welcoming. 24 hour beverages and snacks were available, including a fridge where you could keep a bottle of wine, beer, or your own choice of beverage. It was place in the center of most areas that we wanted to visit. The Railroad Museum and Station were 3.10 miles away, Bird in Hand a few miles more. Located near plenty of shops, eateries, bakeries...everything you'd want to see in Lancaster. We'll definitely return. We would recommend this place to anyone that wants a beautiful get away.

This was our second time staying at After Eight. I actually don't like giving good reviews, cause that only makes it harder to get a reservation the next time. But, what can you do? Robert is a fine gentleman and the rooms are excellent. I am not a breakfast person, but when my wife and I are there, I wouldn't skip it.

Robert is a fantastic chef who is also a standup comic. A great B & B close to everything in the Lancaster area. Robert is a gracious host that is why we come back. We treated our daughter to a stay in the cottage and she absolutely loved it and we stayed in the lovely porch room. Whenever we go to the American Theater this is where we stay.

We stay here often because we like it so much! This B&B is situated in a great location for visits to relatives, shopping, and entertainment. We stayed at this bed & breakfast for 2 nights. It was fantastic! The rooms were so clean and decorated so nice! And Robert the owner is an amazing cook. The breakfasts were so good!! I requested gluten free and he was so accomodating. Robert also entertained us as we ate breakfast, really funny stories/jokes! I will return and may add additional nights onto my trip next time!!

Everything was five star. Our only negative was the Porch Room could get a little noisy in the evening if you are going to bed between 10 - 11. The people on the porch could get a little loud. It's not their fault, the tables and chairs are located just outside the outside door to the porch room next to the bed.

my wife and I would just have to repeat all of the wonderful reviews to cover our feelings for Robert and his B&B. Words alone can't do the experience justice. The best advice we can give is "go there". You'll wish you had planned a longer stay. Ours was Sept. 12-14. Mickey & Sandy Conlee

Easy check-in, great host, clean and comfortable corner room on the 1st floor of the B&B. Each morning our host, Robert, greeted the guests with a description of the breakfast being served after which he entertained us by telling us what he calls "little stories". Robert was the perfect travel guide (even though he never left his post). No matter where in the area (or a bit out of it), Robert was able to accommodate. Recommend staying there; we will again in the near future.

We have been coming to After Eight for many years. We find it a wonderful place to stay. The location is convenient, the rooms are comfortable and very clean, but most important the inn-keeper Robert is friendly and knows so much about the area. You will stay once and all other B&Bs won't measure up!

We enjoyed our stay at After Eight. The room was cozy and comfortable. The bathroom was really nice. Both rooms were very clean. The best part about our stay was the food. Robert is an excellent cook, and we were spoiled by his delicious, big breakfasts. He was also kind enough to accommodate my diet to keep my blood sugar low.
5 on August 25, 2016
Innkeeper Robert was gracious, funny and great with a story at breakfast. We stayed 2 nights at the cottage which was very clean and well furnished. Breakfast both mornings was delicious! Hot coffee or tea being available all day was a great perk, not to mention fresh baked cookies all day. Located close to all of the area attractions was also a perk!! If you have not made plans for your stay, ask Robert. He has a wealth of knowledge of what to see or steer clear of. We will definitely be back!!

Stayed 2 nights for our anniversary, new to B&Bs. Robert very warm, gracious host. Provided plenty of info, including a marked map, about area and dinner restaurants. The breakfast were wonderful, even better because Robert entertained us with funny stories. Room decor is lovely, several activity rooms available and kitchen access 24 hours/day for snacks, homemade cookies and beverages. Comfy bed, great A/C and our room had a marvelous double shower. There was a jigsaw puzzle in progress that all guests could participate in, a nice way to meet the other guests. The grounds were lovely to spend some time outside relaxing. All in all, a great place to stay, will stay again when in the area. Thanks, Robert

We had a wonderful time at After Eight. Robert was a great host and served us delicious breakfasts each morning. He also made sure my husband who has to have gluten-free due to Celiac had a delicious breakfast ! Our room was lovely and roomy. Robert's knowledge of the area was also terrific!

We stayed two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time in the heart of Amish country. Robert was the consummate host with good suggestions for attractions and best restaurants in the area, as well as an entertaining raconteur at breakfast. Breakfast itself was delicious and if there is anything with Chantilly cream on it you are in for a treat. The rooms are well appointed and spotlessly clean. Located on Rt 30, you are within a short drive of Lancaster, Strasburg, Bird in Hand and Intercourse. Driving anywhere in the countryside is an attraction in itself if you are into bucolic scenery and life as it was 150 years ago.

We spent 3 nights at After Eight for a getaway for our 55th wedding anniversary. The Innkeeper, Robert, is a very charming and personable person. He goes out of his way to make guests as comfortable as possible. The breakfasts he makes are beyond delicious. He tells stories at breakfast and engages everyone in conversation. We stayed in one of the cottages. The décor is great, and the beds and bedding very comfortable. There are 2 living rooms in the House with puzzles and games Everyone may enjoy. The grounds are lovely, with seating through out. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. We will return. Sandy & Bob Osiecki, Bethlehem, PA

Three friends and I were traveling through the Amish Country and randomly selected this B&B as it could accommodate four singles; not just couples. We were greeted in a warm, welcoming manner that immediately told us we'd made a good choice. For a couple the room would have been ideal; for four individuals it was a tad small - but then, we could have gotten two rooms. The dining area was pristine, and the midnight selections excellent. The accessibility to the Amish Country was perfect. The garden and outside dining option was wonderful. We all travel extensively and had one other B&B on our trip; which was just standard fare. We would all highly recommend After Eight for any traveler going this direction. The only thing is the outside porch was recently painted brown and gives a rather drab first impression - white would be a great idea. :-)

Laugh hysterically while eating a five star breakfast listening to Robert's stories. Don't walk by the cookies without grabbing a few. Located within minutes of anything you might want to do. Meet new folks while eating, unlike a hotel or motel. Definitely going to stay there again. Be sure to buy the cookbook. Bill and Donna

We really enjoyed out stay at After Eight. Our rooms were exceedingly clean. We had stayed in the area before; so we knew our way around a bit. However, Robert told us of some places we hadn't seen. Our breakfasts were not only delicious but also beautiful to look at. You eat with your eyes first worked in this case. I would not hesitate to recommend After Eight to anyone; and I would stay there again if we ever make it out that way again. Thanks, Robert, for your attention to detail. Robert, our host, had very tastefully and elegantly decorated our bedroom. And yet, it's atmosphere was very relaxing and homey, not at all like a museum. His downstairs sitting rooms also were a great place to read in the evening. He has paid attention to so many details, without providing frilly extras that would command a premium we would not have wanted to pay. The pricing was such a good bargain for this special time my wife and I shared exploring the Amish and Mennonite lands and culture.

We enjoyed our 3 day stay at After 8 very much. The room had a great view, with a balcony; although the March weather didn't co-operate in that regard. Robert was most gracious & very skilled in accommodating the wife's very restrictive diet. The "dose of humour" helped to start the day in the right direction.
Awesome, and yes the Balcony Room has a great view of the gardens and the Amish farm. Now you will need to return and enjoy the balcony, relaxing just for the view or enjoying some snacks and in cheese, crackers and wine. Thank you again for you nice words.

We were given a gift to visit Lancaster for a show and overnight stay at After Eight B&B. We were very pleasantly surprised with Robert and his passion for what he loves to do. Our room was very nice and our shower was a his and hers with two show heads. The breakfast was delicious and served to us with great pride. Robert is an awesome cook and really pays attention to detail. The location was very close to all of the attractions. Well done Robert and staff.
I am so glad that you enjoyed your visit and yes, the Private Corner has what I call the couples shower!! I do enjoy meeting so many nice people and helping them to relax and feel at home is a primary goal. Thanks and please come again.

everything about our stay was excellent.. the reason we can't say anything about the dining is that we're Jewish and hold to strict kosher standards. what I can say about the food is that it smelled great. Robert is an incredible host and takes the necessary time to insure that each guest has all their needs taken care of.. he is excellent in making sure you know where to go so you can enjoy your personal getaway (to post this review I had to score the food so I went by smell not taste)
Thank you so much. I am glad that you were able to use the kitchen in the Cottage and able to enjoy your meals. I do try to accommodate most dietary restrictions, but kosher is not one that I am able to adhere to unless it was just a packaged meal. Thank you again, I a glad you had a good time and please do come back again.

We stayed at Robert's After Eight B&B in October for two nights and we regretted that we couldn't extend our stay due to other arrangements. The house, rooms and garden are beautiful and Robert is a charming and very supporting host. He helped us find the best way to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which we wouldn't have hit without him, I'm afraid. His breakfasts are very tasty and we loved the stories he tells during breakfast time. A lovely custom. We do hope to be able to return one day.

All was wonderful here! I forgot my own pillow (for my neck) & the pillows/bed here felt fabulous. Everything is very clean. Robert makes delicious cookies for the day and breakfast is something to look forward to. Always a puzzle to work on when you come in and the common area is very pleasant. Robert is knowledgeable & detailed with his tour and recommendations for the surrounding area. There are beautiful handmade mugs that you can purchase as souvenirs & also Christmas ornaments. The location is perfect with the most beautiful Amish farmland out the back and everything is close. A must-see is the Christmas Museum down the road! We do return to this area every few years and will stay here from now on! We have stayed in many B&B's and this ranks the highest!

Our stay at After Eight Bed & Breakfast was wonderful. Robert met us right away, checking us in and taking us on a tour of the B&B. The breakfasts served each morning were so good and was the perfect start of our day. The only reason we didn't give 5 stars on the room was the bed, we prefer an extra firm bed to soft memory foam. Otherwise the room was beautiful and comfortable to be in. We would recommend this B&B to anyone thinking of visiting Lancaster, PA. Keep up the great job Robert, we enjoyed our stay with you. Our stay at After Eight Bed and Breakfast was delightful. The room upstairs overlooked a field in the back of the inn. Our room was clean and furnished very nicely. The breakfasts were delicious. Apple pancakes were my favorite, although the Amish breakfast casserole was very good as well. Host Robert was very helpful in guiding us through the town and helped us find specific locations as we were not familiar with the area. All in all a wonderful visit. I would highly recommend this inn to friends and those wishing to have a nice stay at a bed and breakfast in the area.

We brought our eldest daughter here. She works overseas, and is a world traveler. We stayed in the Cottage West and she was very impressed.

Several college friends (class of 1967) and I concluded a week-long reunion exploring Pennsylvania with a two-night stay at After Eight. We enjoyed the attractively decorated living spaces, complete with jigsaw puzzle to work on, and the beautiful guest rooms. I especially savored my view of Amish farm fields. The two breakfasts were delicious. Robert gave us excellent tips on local sightseeing attractions and restaurants. We couldn't have asked for a friendlier, funnier, more cordial host.

Our stay here could not have better. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Robert and he proceeded to explain the comings and goings of the Inn. Showed us the common rooms and then the private corner room that we had chosen. The Room was immaculate, and everything was in order. The bed and linens were very, very comfortable. We had two breakfasts, both were very tasty and health conscious. Coffee, light drinks, and snacks were available all day in the dining room. Thank you Robert for making our stay outstanding.

In looking at hotel prices around Lancaster, we found that for the price, it was a much better deal to stay at After Eight. Robert was not only a welcoming host, but also a chef that knew how to entice our breakfast pallets with delicious meals. The room was clean and inviting and we truly felt "at home."
5 on September 28, 2015
Our stay at After Eight was very nice. Everything was very clean and beautifully decorated. Theresa was the Inn sitter and she was wonderful. The breakfast was out standing. We would definitely stay here again.

Robert welcomed us warmly when we arrived - it was absolutely pouring down with rain and he provided a huge umbrella for us to get our bags out of the car and into the house. His tour of the property was fantastic; he didn't just show us where everything was, and leave us to it, but took the time to find out why we were there, suggesting attractions we should see in the area and giving tips on the best buggy rides to take, the microbrewery bars around Lancaster, where to eat, and so on. The room itself was amazing. Large, airy and bright in the morning, with plenty of space for our clothes and bits and bobs. The bathroom was lovely and the shower had enough pressure. Everything was very clean but not that sterile-clean that makes you feel like you were in a generic chain hotel. The breakfasts - home cooked to his own recipes - were very tasty and original, as well as the breakfast conversations, where he'd recount really interesting stories and get everyone involved. The location was nice, too. While being close to a busy road you didn't hear too much of the passing traffic, and the opposite side backed out onto open fields and farms, which was lovely to see in the morning (I woke up early one morning and went down for a coffee on the front porch and saw the sun rise, as well as smoking on the back porch in the evening and listening to the cows and crickets). All in all we both had a wonderful time here and we would definitely go back when we come back to the area.

The bed was so comfortable and the sheets so smooth, room was clean, it added to our relaxing weekend away. Robert was more than helpful.

This was our first time visiting Lancaster and we were pleased and surprised by all that we experienced. We rented the West Cottage with 2 bedrooms, kitchen and sitting area. The accommodations were spotless and the beds very comfortable. We pumped Robert with lots of questions concerning the Amish community because it was our first time here. He was very knowledgeable and shared this freely with us. He gave us brochures and told us the best places to go. The breakfast was delicious; we ate every morsel. He even catered to one who was celiac. The grounds were kept well and no garbage anywhere. Well maintained Inn. We would recommend it highly and plan to visit again.

My wife and I have stayed at various B&B's, and never made return visits. Just returned from our third trip to After Eight, and are discussing our next visit in the near future. On our most recent visit we stayed at one of the cottages just a short distance from the main house. We enjoyed it so much. It was roomy, and very well equipped if you prefer to do some cooking. Stove. refrigerator, dishwasher, etc. Our host, Robert, goes out of his way to make the visit extra special. Cleanliness and service are second to none.
It is great that you have tried several rooms. The cottages are a great retreat and you still have the option to enjoy all the common areas in the main house as well as breakfast in the morning. Thanks again, I hope to see you soon. Robert

Robert, We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you. Our room, the breakfasts, the hospitality the other guests, the house itself and even the jokes made for a wonderful getaway from everyday cares and concerns. Not sure whether to thank you or blame you (lol), but after returning home, I almost immediately ordered two large jigsaw puzzles for Susan and I to work on together. We will also be sampling recipes from the autographed B & B cookbook. Thanks again, John and Susan
Reading this message made me smile. Jigsaw Puzzles are a great way to relax and the 'group' effort and lend to some great conversations. As you mentioned the cookbook has some great recipes. Hope to see you soon.

Our stay at the After Eight Bed & Breakfast was wonderful! Robert, our host, provided so much information about local attractions as well as places to eat. As soon as you pull into the parking area and see the working Amish farm behind the B&B, you begin to relax. We stayed in the cottage, which was very clean and inviting. Robert thinks of everything to make your stay educational, fun and relaxing. We will be back!
Yes, there is an Amish farm right at the back fence. Many guests get the opportunity to see them in various aspects of farming, depending on the time of the year. I have lots of information about the surrounding area and many guests tell me about more locations to add to my list. I look forward to your return.

We always enjoy visiting Lancaster and staying at the After Eight. Cozy and friendly best describes the environment. Robert, our host, always makes a yummy breakfast and provides snacks&beverages 24/7. We loved the apple walnut baked pancake on Monday. Cannot wait to make it at home. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. Parking is easy and safe. We enjoy that a puzzle is always out for everyone to work on during their stay. We look forward to future visits.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. It was great having you again. The German Apple Pancake is one of my guests favorite recipes. I am always happy to share any of my recipes, if I can remember how I made them. See you again, soon.

We were delighted to find that the rooms in the B&B were considerably larger than most B&B's we've visited, so there was plenty of space to relax. There was also great attention to the need for counter/table space, outlets for gadgets and plenty of lighting options. So it was a great mix of the charm of an older house with the ease of modern touches. Robert was very helpful and the breakfasts, wonderful.

We stayed in the Candlelight Room. The room and house were decorated just right. The house, room and grounds were very nicely kept and clean. The extra amenities were the best I have every experience, cookies, drinks, games, “Popcorn” with a bowl!!, 1st B&B that had this available. We were the only ones staying in the house and it was so nice, peaceful and relaxing for my wife and I. The only negative comment that I have and this is not against the owner nor the B&B is the road noise. I am a light sleeper and the traffic is very loud, starting as early as 6am – just so you know. We would, and will stay again. I did not rate the "Service" a Five Star as Robt never checked on us after serving us Breakfast. He seemed to be distracted the whole time we were there.

We came for a return visit on New Year's weekend because we had enjoyed our stay the first time so much! Besides clean and wonderfully appointed rooms, delicious breakfasts, and friendly and impeccable service, we participated with other couples in a murder-mystery dinner theater on New Year's Eve. What fun we had interacting with and getting to meet other couples! Our innkeeper ,Robert, went out of his way to make sure that all of his guests were well cared for and had a wonderful time. He even sought our suggestions for future themed weekends. We can't wait to see what other surprises are in store and definitely will be back.

We had never stayed at a B&B before, so really weren't sure what to expect. Our host was great-very personable and gave us lots of ideas on local attractions. There was a security system for entering the house, which I had never thought about that-not something you get in a hotel. Breakfasts were great, house was beautiful, and the other guests there at that time were all repeat visitors. That in itself should tell you what a great place it was!

My husband & I frequent Bed & Breakfasts while traveling whenever possible and After Eight B & B is by far one of the best! This was our first stay, but it certainly won't be out last! The house & property are gorgeous, convenient, exceptionally clean, cozy and comfortable! The one & only complaint we have would be the pillows didn't exactly provide enough support & were a bit flat, however everything else was awesome! My wife and I loved it here. When we arrived, checking in was as painless as can be. Robert, the host, had everything ready. Shortly afterward, Robert gave us a tour of the common areas. And after asking if we had an itinerary for our stay, he gave us a number of possible sites to visit (complete with brochures and business cards to refer to later). The atmosphere was very pleasant. It was right after easter, and there were a number of easter themed decorations, but not so much to make it gaudy. Over-all the interior design is calm and relaxing. The breakfast day 1 was pineapple french toast with water-mellon and kiwis. Breakfast day 2 was stuffing pie with cantaloupe and strawberries. During breakfast, Robert also proceeded to entertain the guests with jokes. In my book, the amount of detail and effort put into this bed and breakfast really shows. On top of that, the host went that extra mile so we felt comfortable and enjoyed our stay (not only indoors, but also in Lancaster).

This was our first B&B stay and we were very impressed, especially with Robert running the B&B by himself. He did a fantastic job with everything. We were really surprised when we came back from running around that our bed was made and room straightened up. That was a pleasanat surprise. And that Robert could cook like that...unbelievable. The past was immaculately clean. We will definitely come back in two years for another visit.

I have stayed at After Eight for three years in a row now while attending the quilt show. The rooms are always clean, comfy and cozy, and pleasantly relaxing. The food is great and the owner a delight to talk to. I will continue to come back here and recommend it to friends.

My husband and I try to stay only at B & B's. We prefer them to hotels. We have stayed at After Eight twice now and would recommend it to anyone. The rooms are immaculate as is the whole house, the food is awesome and the host is ver charming and funny. My husband is not a very social person but enjoys the breakfast company at this B & B. Robert is full of suggestions for places to visits and resturaunts. We will definitely be going back again!

Compared to other B&Bs my wife and I have stayed at After Eight is above average in all categories, but the real icing on the cake is your Host Robert. Breakfast is outstanding, this man can cook. Like our first visit here we skipped lunch both days (all 4 if you count our 2008 visit) because it was so filling. To go with breakfast you may be treated to a small comedy routine, gratis, to start your day. The rooms are pretty good, all unique, clean, well organized and quiet. Out in the common areas people really do play chess and put together puzzles when waiting to go out at night or when coming back in. In-fact, it's not uncommon to find another guest to play with, talk with etc. and we've never had a problem with other guests. Best B&B in the Lancaster area. Will definitely return for a 3rd stay sometime.

Innkeeper was friendly and made you feel at home. The home was beautifully decorated. The breakfasts were very tasty. I highly recommend this B&B. The only negative was the beds were not so comfortable and I recommend bringing your own pillows.

This B & B was very well located close to many attractions in Lancaster County. The food was amazing! We stayed in the Balcony room which was very pretty. Unfortunately, it was too cold to utilize it, but it would be a great asset in the warmer weather.

This was a return trip for us and we loved it the second time around as well as the first time back in May 2010. Roberts breakfast are as beautiful as they are delicious. His entertainment makes for a very enjoyable breakfast. We shall return! Ron & Jan (and Mary too)

We have stayed quite a few times at After Eight and have never been disappointed. After Eight is meticulously cared for and although Robert, the innkeeper, says he is not a trained chef, his breakfasts are amazing. He also has lots of suggestions as to where to go, what's going on, etc. When visiting Lancaster, we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. Joan Cope

my wife and i got married in June of 2010. we stayed at After Eight B&B at the end of October 2010. My wife and I had tickets to Sight and Sound. She gave me the go ahead to choose the B&B. There are a lot of B&B's in the Lancaster area. I liked the pictures from After Eight's website and i took a chance. It was a hard choice. After Eight made me look good as a new husband. We had a great time. If you are looking for a B&B in the Lancaster and beyond area, choose After Eight! Robert the keeper of After Eight was very friendly, funny and extremely informative about what to do for food, fun and relaxation. Our room was well maintained, very comfortable and relaxing. There are two sitting rooms downstairs, an amazing kitchen and dining area. Robert provides board games, cards, puzzles, great snacks and free beverages. The view of the backyard is a true Lancaster painting. The breakfast he provided each morning was grade A. My wife and I even purchased the cook book he and about 40+ other Lancaster B&B's put together. We are looking forward to making for our family what Robert made for us. Robert makes you feel at home. His cookies are amazing. After Eight might be the only B&B we ever go to now. After Eight is right off the road. It was great because of the convenience to go places. Our room was close to the road and we could barely hear the traffic.
5 on November 02, 2010
The entire six day stay was the most enjoyable time my wife and I have ever experienced. We will always try to book the suite when we travel to Pa. Dutch country. Our host could not have been more accomodating and his interaction with all of the guests was superbe.

This is a great B & B and we keep coming back. Everything is excellent and we have not found another where the innkeeper makes you feel more welcome that After Eight. The rooms are great, well appointed and always very clean. The breakfast is fantastic. But most of all the innkeeper makes the real difference here.
5 on October 20, 2010

The stay was wonderful. The inn keeper was very helpful regarding amish attractions. I was pleased with the cleanness and comfort of the rooms. Very convenient to amish attractions. Breakfast tended to be a little more like dessert than breakfast. Other than that GREAT!!!

Robert was a wonderful host. His breakfasts were to die for. He was gracious and provided us with more activities then we had time for. His suggestions were everything he said they would be. Our room was very comfortable. We felt like we were staying in our own home. We never really heard anyone except at breakfast. We have no problem recommending After Eight to anyone. It will definitely be our first choice any time we stay in Lancaster. I won't spend endless hours on line looking for a place again.

Best B&B in the Lancaster area. Robert (aka Bob) is a great host. Somewhat of a comedian (Don't quit your day job) & salesman. Breakfast is outstanding! Bob is a college of knowledge for the area, restaurants, attractions etc. Make this B&B your traveling destination!!!! It is like home.

This stay was our first at After Eight Bed & Breakfast and we had such a great time there that we know we must return. Our room was spacious and easy for me to get around in my wheelchair though not truly handicapped accessible. I had no trouble accessing any of the areas of the facility or any place in our room or bathroom since Robert kindly put a plastic chair into the shower for me. We were with our daughter and son-in-law and they enjoyed the stay as much as we did. We found Robert to be a font of valuable information about the Lancaster area and his suggestions for things to do made us wish we had more time to spend at After Eight. The first morning we were there we awoke to a power failure but Robert was so resourceful that he managed to give us a lovely breakfast in spite there being no power. He even made us toast on the stove top as there was no power for the toaster. He entertained us with jokes that had us all laughing joyously. Sunday's breakfast was just fabulous French toast casserole with blueberries and maple syrup. A true tour de force served with more humour. We left the table stuffed. All in all, we had a great time and never turned on the TV because the grounds were beautiful enticing and the living room had an addictive jig saw puzzle that kept us up later than we'd intended. Thanks for everything, Robert. We hope we'll see you again soon

This was my first trip to Lancaster County....and I couldn't have chosen better accommodations! The room was tastefully furnished, I had a private entrance to the porch and gardens (fully equipped with rabbits!). Robert is the consummate host, giving me directions and suggestions to make my short visit a great experience. His breakfasts!!!!! YUM!!!! A real highlight! (and he entertains you with witty jokes during breakfast...) I will definitely be returning... Elaine, MA

This was my first stay at a B&B and I was not disappointed. My friends and I went there for a weekend getaway and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (this was their second stay). We stayed in the two cottages and they were so cute and quaint and homey. Robert was the best host, and chef. His demeanor matched the atmosphere to a "T," laid-back, comfortable, and relaxing. Thanks so much for everything, I'll definitely be back!

Staying at After Eight Bed N Breakfast was by far the most memorable experience we have ever had at a Bed and Breakfast. Robert(the owner) is passionate about making your stay memorable. From suggestions on what we might be interested in seeing in the area to the fine details that he so generously had available for his guests. A refrigerator filled with soda to canisters filled with granola bars, biscotti, crackers and microwave popcorn that gave you the feeling that you were at home. Breakfast was fabulous and the room set up with individual tables for two that made it less intimidating to be sharing a meal with others staying there. But Roberts repoir with his guests was phenominal and infectious. He has a way of putting everyone at ease and it is apparent that he loves what he does and we can't wait to go back. Deb & Dave Owens

We had our first B&B experience at the After Eight! It was awesome! My husband planned it for a surprise to me and had everything planned out! This is located in a perfect area...close to it all...food, shops, amish, beautiful land, comedy clubs, music theater, x-mas museum, etc. You feel like your far away though which is wonderful! The B&B is beautiful, and the rooms are gorgeous and comfy...very relaxing! Everything is clean. We thought it was neat to be able to have a kitchen area stocked with so many yummy treats that we could help ourselves to whenever we wanted. Robert is an awesome guy! From cooking his scrumptious homemade food, to making you laugh with his great sense of humor, to letting you know what the area has to offer...he has it all....a wonderful host..he makes you feel right at home! We will be back for sure!! This is a definate must stay for anyone looking for a lovely B&B experience!! Andrea & Troy

We spent three wonderful nights at After Eight Bed and Breakfast and found everything about this charming inn to be excellent. The inn is beautifully decorated throughout and our bedroom and bath were warm and comfortable with all the modern conveniences. The breakfasts each morning were delicious and very filling. The innkeeper is extremely welcoming and has an abundance of knowledge about the area which he generously shares with his guests. Our itinerary for our activities revolved around many of his suggestions, and we enjoyed everything we did. This B&B is centrally located to so many places one would want to include in a visit to Lancaster County. We found it a great place to stay and would love to return sometime!

This was the first time my husband and I have ever spent at a Bed and Breakfast and we had such a wonderful, relaxing time that we cannot wait to do it again. Our Inn Keeper was the perfect host! Not only did he serve the best breakfast we have ever eaten, but he took the time to recommend local events and attractions. We have never stayed in Lancaster overnight before and never knew there was so much to do other than frequent the outlet stores. Robert told us about the quaint shops in Intercourse, PA and we went to Lapp Farm where we ate homemade ice cream on the porch of the farm store. We also were able to see the farm animals as we strolled around the grounds. Robert recommended a few local restaurants and we went to the Iron Horse in Strasburg where we enjoyed one of the most wonderful meals I have ever had. We then went to a comedy show Robert recommended which has us laughing from beginning to end. Our room was absolutely beautiful with its antique furnishings and spacious bathroom with a whirlpool tub. We were able to relax and leave all of our stresses behind and enjoyed one of the best weekends together that we have ever had. It was very difficult to leave, but we decided that we would definitely be visiting again! We are recommending this hidden treasure to our friends and family so they too can experience the fun and relaxation that we did.

My husband and I stayed at After Eight for 3 nights (June 13, 14, 15 2009), and Robert was a perfect Innkeeper. We had traveled all day by car and felt relaxed the moment we walked on the porch -- a beautiful farm view and hanging baskets of petunias greeted us. Our rooom was nice; the breakfasts were very good and very pretty! Robert gave us many good suggestions on how to enjoy our 3 day stay in the area. Our experience could not have been better.

Breakfast was delicious and very filling. We found this bed and breakfast to be very quiet and relaxing. Atco, NJ

My husband and I found the inn online and were looking for a quiet, romantic get-away. I had the innkeeper select a quiet room for us and he chose the Balcony Room, which is directly at the top of the stairs and in the middle of all the second story rooms. The inn is beautiful and tastefully decorated with many amenities and very clean. However, our room had a mattress that was hard as a brick and the bed squawked anytime there was movement in the bed-not exactly ideal for a relaxing, romantic weekend. The second night we stayed, we were wakened by the innkeeper and guests who were playing a noisy game of Yahtzee downstairs. They quieted down immediately when my husband went down and explained they woke us, but as a consequence we overslept the next morning and missed breakfast which is scheduled for 8:30 am (not 8:00 - 10:00 as the website states). When we came down to check out, I gained the impression we had been the topic of discussion from the smirks and sudden silence of guests and, rather than apologizing for waking us up, the innkeeper went through a long recitation of all the terrific food we missed by not coming to breakfast. Apparently it didn't occur to him that it was because of his behavior that we were too tired and overslept. It is a beautiful inn and I'm sure it is not always noisy, but it certainly did not provide us with a quiet, relaxing or romantic get-away. My advice is to pass--there are lots of nice accommodations in the area with beds that are comfortable and innkeepers that don't ridicule you.

We booked an apartment in the "cottage". Really spacious; ideal for 2 couples to stay, with own kitchen and little living room. The apartment was great; the beds very very comfy (slept like a rock). The interior walls are a bit on the thin side, but for sleeping isn't a problem. Everything is clean and tidy. The breakfast was a feast in itself! Bob the landlord is very helpful in recommending places to visit. Quite an experience, but also not necessarily cheap. But still good value! Highly to be recommended!

Being newlyweds and just starting out, a 3-day weekend at a B&B seemed a rathr "luxurious" treat for us to indulge in. However, my family thoughtfully gave us some gift certificates to BedandBreakfast.com so we were able to afford the trip. This was so far above & beyond what we even hoped for - it was unreal. My husband and I stayed at After Eight last November over the Thanksgiving Holiday. The room was beautiful, the house is charming, so is the innkeeper, Robert. Breakfast was amazing! We will be back!

We were only there for one evening but it was wonderful. The house is beautiful and the breakfast was fantastic...a definite must stay. We are planning on returning this spring.
