Surrounded by meadows and gardens, Swiss Woods is a quiet retreat on 30 acres in Lancaster's Amish country. All rooms feature patios or balconies, some overlooking Speedwell Forge Lake, and are decorated with the natural wood furnishings typical of Switzerland. Fabulous breakfasts, complemented by our own blend of coffee and a wide assortment of specialty teas, are served in our sunlit common room. Enjoy the views of extraordinary gardens, landscaped with a wide variety of annuals and perennials. Take a hike, watch the birds and relax! ...Where the cookie jar is always full! German spoken.

The Swiss Woods in one of the best we've stayed at. Pretty country and pretty property. This B&B is outstanding with ambiance, hospitality, and breakfast. A plus is the closeness to Lititz which was designated "The coolest small American town" in 2013. You will not be disappointed in any way.

The owners, Werner and Debbie, are incredible hosts to a weekend getaway! The rooms are exquisite, the breakfast scrumptious and hearty always with fresh fruit and homemade muffins, and a bottomless jar of homemade biscotti and cookies! They have an adorable gift shop on the premises with homemade honey, teas, soaps and Deb's own cookbook! Truly the best bed and breakfast in Pennsylvania! It is close to the American Music Theater which is known for its great performances! The Log Cabin is also nearby for a romantic dinner before the show. Returning to the Swiss Woods each night was incredible with the magical gardens Werner has created throughout the property in addition to his hosting of smores making in the evening by the outside fire pit! We look forward to returning soon!! Outstanding!!

I stayed at the Swiss Woods during my boyfriend's and my winter break from graduate school and work. We had the best time! The Lugano room was cozy and well-kept. I especially enjoyed the heat bulbs in the bathroom and the en suite door to the lovely patio. The dog, Baeri, couldn't have been sweeter. Speaking of sweet, the daily baked goods were divine. My boyfriend and I could't get enough of the apple cake and the chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. It definitely felt like vacation with all of the home-cooked food we were spoiled with! The grounds of the B&B were gorgeous. Lititz is also a wonderful town with a really warm vibe. The people we met seemed incredibly friendly and genuine. We greatly enjoyed shopping on Main St 10 minutes from the B&B and drinking beer at the Stoudt Brewery about 20 minutes away. The B&B is also a conveniently quick drive to Lancaster, which boasts a charming downtown and some nice outlets. We had a lot of fun in Lancaster City browsing the shops. The Wolf Sanctuary was also a must-see. Overall, we LOVED our time at Swiss Woods. Werner and Debbie were the most hospitable hosts. We will definitely be coming back!

A clean and neat retreat in the woods

Autumn is a great time to visit the beautiful farmlands of Lancaster PA and the perfect time to take a break to relax at the Swiss Woods Inn Bed and Breakfast in Lititz. Of the dozens of east coast B&Bs my husband and I have enjoyed over the years, Swiss Woods stands out as one of our very favorites. The wooded location has easy hiking trails for unwinding and simply enjoying being surrounded by nature. Barry, the family Bernese Mountain dog, even served as our personal pal and trail guide! The Inn is comfortable with many gracious details like daily baked goods, a wonderful assortment of loose leaf teas, and bedding so comfortable you will want to linger each morning. The clean, comfortable furnishings are European in flavor. The nightly fire pit offered us a cozy spot to relax as a couple one night and a friendly gathering place to enjoy the company of other guests on another night. A highlight is the lovely, fragrant bar and liquid soaps that are supplied generously. Without a doubt, Debbie’s delicious and abundant breakfasts earn top scores. Eating at two tables in the large common area is not as intimate as the dining rooms of other inns, but we thoroughly enjoyed leisurely, sumptuous meals that included several dishes, home baked goods, fresh fruits, juices, coffee and teas. My husband and I thank Debbie and Werner for a lovely respite and truly look forward to our return.
The Matterhorn Suite is the largest of our accommodations. The bedroom has a queen bed as well as a twin sleigh bed. There is a private bath and a living room that opens out to its own deck and a private entrance. An electric fireplace, and large flat screen TV with DirecTV and a DVD player highlight the living room. A leather sofa grouping makes this space inviting and comfortable. The stairway from the deck takes you down to the gardens on the south side of the inn.
The San Bernadino Room's focal point is an unusual canopy bed with twisted walnut posts. A reproduction from an English castle, this bed is unforgettable. From the room, step out onto your south-facing patio and admire the herb garden and wide array of flora. A full, private bath adjoins.
The Emmental Room is named for the valley in Switzerland that is world renowned for making Emmental Cheese. This room features a Shaker Cherry pencil-post bed, a comfortable sitting area, a private bath, and a private entrance from its courtyard patio.
The Wilhelm Tell Room, named for the figure in Swiss history famous for shooting the apple from his son's head, faces north toward the woods. It features a beautiful pine-and-wrought- iron bed and a comfortable sitting area. A private entrance opens to the courtyard facing the woods and a full, private bath adjoins.
The Appenzell Room features high ft. ceilings, queen sized bed and private bath with Jacuzzi tub. Magnificent Swiss cowbells hang from the massive pine beams. A beautiful balcony overlooking the woods and wood-side gardens is surrounded by potted begonias all summer long and provides a secluded setting to read and relax. Large flat screen tv with DVD and DirecTv.
The Lake of Geneva Room features high ceilings with open beams that lead your eye to the south lawns. A large queen acorn four-poster dominates the room, along with a beautifully hand painted armoire. The room's balcony has a view of the gardens and the valley and is enhanced by ledges filled with hanging geraniums. The private bath also features a Jacuzzi tub. A large flat screen, dvd player and DirecTv

Werner's special talent is evidenced in the profusion of flowers surrounding the inn. Annuals, unusual perennials, flowering shrubs and bushes abound. Woodland wildflowers, like the elusive Jack-in-the Pulpit, peek out along the edges of paths. Bee Balm attracts the hummingbirds and Buddleia the butterflies. Debbie's talents are more evident in the wonderful breakfasts and lovely rooms in Swiss Woods.
