We had a wonderful stay for a long weekend. Diane and Scott were lovely hosts and provided lots of information on where to dine and what activities were happening locally. The house was very clean, with home-baked cookies and brownies, two delicious breakfasts were served during our stay. It was definitely worth it money-wise. We would do it again! :)

When we unexpectedly landed our plane in Lancaster late one night due to incoming weather, we were rescued by the owner. He changed out of his pjs and drove down to Airport and picked us up. Totally above and beyond and completely appreciated. This was followed by the best night of sleep I’ve had in ages. We were delighted with a delicious and well serviced breakfast. One of our best stays ever. High recommend.

This couple was so nice and thought of everything to make our two night stay so great. The jacuzzi tub in the suite was a nice extra. We would have preferred our bed be a little firmer but that’s all. Bedding and pillows were comfy and fireplace was nice. They make everything very homey and relaxing and we enjoyed meeting other people at our breakfasts each day.

We really loved our stay at E. J. Bowman House. Diane and Scott (the hosts) were absolutely amazing. They helped us with planning our stay and had beautiful routes prepared to get to know the area. The breakfast was super delicious and they make sure you get alternatives in case you have an allergy e.g. And the cookies are super delicious as well. The entire house is absolutely clean. We would always come back.

Beautiful home with inn keepers whose hospitality was second to none. It's the little things that make someplace special and Diane and Scott do it right..it's what a b&b should be. Breakfast hit all the right spots..a little sweet and a little healthy

We called last minute and got the last room, the Murphey Room. I was a little concerned since it was "twin" beds that were made into a king-sized bed, but it was super comfortable! The room was pretty and clean. The whole house was lovely and we were made to feel very welcome by Diane when she checked us in and gave us a tour of the amenities their home offered. She advised on local eateries and things to do. We met Scott later in the night and he was equally welcoming. Breakfast both mornings were both eye-appealing, creative, and delicious. Will plan another stay on our next trip to the area.

We've been visiting the Lancaster area on and off for the last 20 years. This was our 1st stay and E.J. Bowman House but will definitely not be our last. Diane was very eager to make our stay as easy and comfortable as possible. (Never did meet her husband, Scott, but she assured me that he really does exist!) The house is c. 1860s and has an interesting history - I'm into history and preservation. The breakfasts were always delicious and the other guests that we met were very friendly and had interesting stories. Another reason we stay at B&Bs are to meet new people - we were not disappointed. Diane was also eager to help with things to do and directions. Next time we visit the Lancaster area, we will definitely stay at E.J. Bowman again.

Great place to stay just outside of downtown Lancaster. The hosts were fantastic - very friendly and accommodating. Would gladly stay here again.

Our one-night stay was great with a very comfortable room, friendly host, and an outstanding breakfast. The other guests were enjoyable and we were surprised at how quiet it was in spite of being in town. Parking was adequate although at first look it seemed narrow to access from the front. We would definitely recommend this B&B!

We truly enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was fabulous and Scott and Diane are wonderful hosts. Their home is lovely and the grounds are breathtaking. We enjoyed sitting by the pond drinking coffee and watching the fish. We would stay with them again if we go back to Lancaster. Awesome.
In the Murphey Room, the quilts are softly bathed in light lavender from its southeast exposure. Originally two rooms, these have been combined into a cheerful room at the top of a private staircase. Its separate antique quilted twin beds can be made into a king bed. Colonial shutters offer the perfect touch of privacy. This room offers two single beds that can convert into a king size bed. Private Bathroom with shower.

With three generations of the Witmer Family previously residing in the E.J. Bowman House, it feels appropriate to name this room in honor of their legacy. Centrally, located with an enclosed porch to the east and garden views to the west, the Witmer Room is an ideal retreat. The room features a large mirrored oak armoire and soft green walls. A cozy chair is placed in the reading nook that floods with sunlight and views of the gardens and pond. Enjoy. Private bathroom with shower.

Following a day of exploration through Lancaster County’s unique attractions you can relax on the quilt covered pineapple queen bed or log your memories at the antique roll-top desk. The room’s warm tones invite you to relax and enjoy life’s small moments. Like sweet tea on a warm summer afternoon, the Lucinda Mae Room invites you to relax and unwind.
The E.J. Bowman House was once owned by the Hauck family. During this time the bed & breakfast became known as “the big yellow house.” The Hauck room is ideal for all seasons with light control blinds and other comforts. Alice Murphey’s pressed flower art and the soft yellow and blue tines throughout the room bid you drift away. Don't forget that glowing fireplace to keep away that cold winter night.

E.J. Bowman, the original owner of this historic home, would bask in the sunset view of the gardens from the suite’s balcony. This two room private suite features a maxi-king bed, a sitting room with day bed and hidden trundle bed as well as a coffee maker and refrigerator for added convenience. The Tuscan mural that surrounds the Jacuzzi tub, and the stout villa windows beautifully reflect the home’s Italianate architecture.
