Birthday Getaway

5 on February 26, 2017

Enjoyed our stay at Terra Nova House. Very clean and the service was great. Loni was a terrific host. Great breakfast that we were able to pre-order online. The extras available were a nice touch. Close to the Outlets and less than an hour drive from home. Definitely a place to stay if visiting the area.

Innkeeper Response
We are so happy to hear you had a great birthday getaway! Thank you for your kind review, we greatly appreciate it. Since you are close in distance come back and stay with us soon! Our breakfast menus change from day to day :)

4 of us stayed here last weekend and we very much enjoyed our stay! So much that we are already planning our next trip! They were friendly, acommodating, extremely clean. We had a wonderful weekend. The rooms are just beautiful! We felt like royalty. The breakfast and all the other EXTRA touches!

Innkeeper Response
We LOVE to see our weekend get away groups return year after year! We are so pleased your group had such a wonderful stay, thank you very much for your kind words. We are looking forward to seeing you during your next girls get away! - Loni Thomas, Assistant Innkeeper

Got the room (with upgrade!) at the same cost as mid-range lodging

5 on December 19, 2016

If you want a lovely atmosphere and non-invasive personal attention, check for availability here first. We had an event that provided breakfast, so we opted out of the breakfast package and paid the same price that a national hotel chain cost, but with personal service, a unique room, (and complimentary gluten-free brownie:) which I rated 5 stars.) And we were fortunate enough to get upgraded!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you very much for your kind review. Our no breakfast discount is perfect for those guests that already have breakfast arranged during their stay. We hope to see you for breakfast during your next stay though, as our breakfasts are delicious! We happen to find our gluten free brownie option just as good as our regular brownies too. Again, thank you! - Loni Thomas, Assistant Innkeeper

Wish I had more time

5 on November 22, 2016

I stayed at Terra Nova just overnight for a business trip and I really wish I'd had more time to enjoy the property. It was a wonderful experience - check in was easy even though, due to a closure on the turnpike I was WAY later than the window I'd given them. I was able to relax after a difficult drive with a cup of tea and a plate of fruit and cheese. The room and breakfast were wonderful. I don't know when I"ll make it back to Grove City but will definitely stay here if I can.

Innkeeper Response
Although it is impossible for us to make your travel to us relaxing, we most certainly try once you arrive. From the complimentary fruit/chocolate/cheese plate, baked good, hot chocolate/tea/coffee/sodas/juices and snacks galore...we want you to unwind. We do hope that you get back to Grove City soon! - Ryan Mercer, Owner/Innkeeper

Most Recent Stay at Terra Nova House

5 on October 20, 2016

We have just completed our most recent stay with Ryan. I have lost track of how many times we have been to Terra Nova House, but I believe we have been guests there every year since he opened this B&B. We love the variety of the rooms (each with a different theme), the evening snacks, and the super breakfasts. But most of all we enjoy Ryan as he has become like one of the favorite family members we come to the area to visit each year. We greatly enjoy the light hearted banter we have with him at breakfast each visit. We would stay nowhere else in the Grove City area.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind words and your continued patronage to our bed and breakfast. We love being able to visit with our guests and build lasting relationships during return visits. Ryan sure is fun to banter with! Again thank you, and we look forward to your next stay!

Wonderful Find

4.2 on October 08, 2016

We loved this Bean and Breakfast. We stayed one night on our Pennsylvania road trip. The welcome was great with baked goods and finger foods awaiting us. Our hosts were extremely helpful and we followed their recommendations for where to eat. The room was amazing and we wished we could have stayed longer. The only disappointment for us was the fact that we were not able to have the breakfast as we made a same-day reservation.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your same-day reservation and one night stay. We are glad that you enjoyed all the little extras that we have. We understand that it is disappointing that we do not offer breakfast for same-day reservations in exchange for 20% off the rate. Let me explain as it will possibly help other potential guests reading this review. Our breakfasts are prepared individually for each guest so that we can accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies very easily. Guests are sent a breakfast selection email several days in advance. There is a lot of planning that goes on for breakfast. In addition, we typically begin preparing breakfast the morning before; therefore, same-day reservations would require us to prep yet again. As only one person is acting as innkeeper during the day handling all the duties (checkouts, answering phones, grocery shopping, repairs, cleaning, finances, marketing, check-ins) we have found it just too disruptive to try to accommodate same-day reservation guests for breakfast after we have already prepped. Again, same-day reservations (walk-ins) automatically receive our 20% No Breakfast Discount and this is explained when the reservation is made. Several B&B's do not accept walk-ins...we at least figured out a way to do so. Thank you again and we look forward to your next stay with us. - Ryan Mercer, Owner/Innkeeper

Excellent B&B

4.8 on September 11, 2016

We were lucky to find this B&B for a last minute get away and were extremely pleased with the facility, service and food. We were pleasantly surprised with the room as we were told (when making reservations) it was the smallest (all other rooms were booked). The Innkeepers were delightful and so was the breakfast. We will definitely return and recommend it to our friends.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you very much for your kind review! We look forward to seeing you and your friends again soon with us!

Excellent as always...and Spooky too!

5 on August 30, 2016

This is my third time staying at Terra Nova House. i love this B&B. If they are booked, I always ask to be placed on a waiting list so i can be considered if a room cancellation happens. As was the case this last time I stayed. Each time has been in a different room, which is nice for variety. This last visit was especially interesting. I was having a quiet evening in my room, just reading my book and relaxing. When all of a sudden, my bed starting shaking...quite visibly. And only the bed. Not the night stands or the TV stand...just the bed. It shook for about 30 seconds and then stopped. This went on and off from 8p-10p. I thought I was going crazy. It was indeed spooky. The spirit or ghost or whatever was shaking my bed ceased all activity when I prayed in the name of Jesus for it to leave. I also heard faint music...couldn't make it out exactly. Needless to say, I slept with one eye open. In the morning after a delicious breakfast, Ryan and I had a conversation about the happenings. He said I was the first guest to experience that....but he himself had a similar experience on the same floor, but different room. So if you are a ghost hunter, this is your spot. Ask for a room on the third floor. I always give Terra Nova house two thumbs up. And this time is no different....ghosts and all.:) Dina

Innkeeper Response
We greatly appreciate your repeat business and making use of our waiting list. Although we cannot always accommodate those on the waiting list, some do get lucky. Just as we are smoke free and open flame free, we are also "spirit free". I do understand how the shaking bed could cause such a fright as it did happen to us on the other side of the 3rd floor when we used to live there. We have also heard faint music, whistling and a baby cry. Being very interested in the paranormal, I have concluded that the bed shaking for us was a result of either a train, construction or drilling far off in the distance and the vibration must have been just perfect for our bed and one other piece of furniture to shake for about 30 seconds a couple of nights a week. After we completely renovated the 3rd floor in May 2014 to make the Collegiate Suite and the Lodge rooms, the room layouts were different and no guests had shared with us any experiences of shaking of any kind. Around this time, marcellus shale drilling in the surrounding area was also slowing down. As for the various sounds, we discovered that sound travels very funny within the house due to the 2 staircases leading up to the 2nd floor. Without any fan noise, it is possible to hear conversations very faintly from the 1st floor and outside all the way on the 3rd floor. The music and whistling were a result of the speakers we have on the 1st floor and the baby crying was in the house next door. Sound travels very strange in the house which is why we have white noise machines around the house to help drown out unwanted noise. As to your recent experience, upon further reflection, I am guessing it may have something to do with our new washers and dryers which are in the laundry room below the Lodge. The new washers and dryers (2 stacked units) are a lot more powerful than our prior washer and dryer. It is highly likely that we were running the units during that time and you were experiencing the vibration from the spin cycle. We may have to adjust our spin speed and re-level the units to prevent unwanted vibration. And as to the faint music, I am guessing as you indicated to me that you turned off the A/C unit and had no other "white noise" around you, it was probably the 1st floor music that you were hearing. Or...it could all be paranormal! Any paranormal investigators are more than happy to check out the place; however, I think you will be in for an uneventful night and come to the same conclusions I have. Ryan Mercer, Owner/Innkeeper
