Located in Oak Hall between historic Boalsburg and Lemont, our country style farmhouse is just 4 miles from PSU and 5 miles from downtown State College. A perennial nursery also sits on our 17 acres. Four of our guest rooms have queen size beds and private baths. Our fifth room is handicapped accessible with two twin beds and a private bathroom with roll-in shower. Each room sleeps two, but roll-away beds are available to accommodate a third person in most rooms. The B&B was newly built in 2005 with the latest in safety features. Fully air conditioned and smoke free, we have high speed wireless internet capabilities. Stroll through our gardens, hike Mount Nittany or just sit and enjoy the warmth of the wood fireplace. Think of us when you plan a football weekend, anniversary celebration, wedding reception, luncheon, business meeting or a weekend getaway.

Everything about our stay was top notch! We enjoyed our host's sense of humor. Joe prepared a delicious breakfast both mornings. He treated us to his wonderful chocolate chip cookies in the evening. Joe was very helpful with directions to the area's many attractions. We would definitely return.

We made a late decision to stay over for the PSU/Maryland game and visit with our son and his girlfriend. Our innkeeper was polite and extremely informative before and during our stay. Admittedly, I am not a B&B person and have had a number of unique stays in Cork, Ireland, Yarmouth NS and Eastern Maryland. The Rock Garden changed my thinking as to what a B&B can be - I had an extremely positive experience. The Rock Garden was purpose-built as a first class Bed and Breakfast. Great care and thought was incorporated in the design. The Innkeepers had every detail covered (from instant hot water, landscaped gardens, piping hot and tasty foods, sprinklered facilities). We will definitely plan a future stay! Joe, our Innkeeper and proprietor, was ultra professional, informed and helpful!

All of the rooms are really lovely; the bedding and towels are clean and soft! I slept better there than in my own bed! Joe's breakfasts are delicious and plentiful and Joe is charming and helpful without being intrusive. Check out the downstairs bathroom - it's a hidden gem of a surprise! You couldn't have a better bed and breakfast experience.

Second time in three years. Looked forward to our return trip and were very pleased that our high expectations were fully met. Great food and conversation. One more reason to visit Happy Valley!

We were in State College for 3 day business event, the Rock Garden was located so conveniently for work, but got us out of the hustle and bustle each night, the innkeepers were over the top friendly and helpful. The attention to detail at the B&B was impressive - we will most definitely be back...thanks!

We stayed here for five nights in May. We try to book the Mt. Nittany room each time we visit since we find it so comfortable. My mom was with us this trip so we reserved the Oak Hall room which is ADA accessible. She loved it! Her favorite thing was sitting on the porch on one of the wooden rockers watching the birds at the feeders. Joe and Laura are friendly hosts and the breakfasts are always good. We have been staying here each spring for six years and it feels like coming home. We especially like the cleanliness of the inn. Thanks, Joe, for another great stay.

Joe's passion, pride, and joy is this B&B and it is so obvious as soon as you walk in. Joe pampers you through his cooking and will make you a yummy home-cooked breakfast at any time you need in the morning (we were there for a horse-show and he was up and cooking bright and early even though we told him he didn't have to). The scones are soooo good!!! The house and grounds are beautiful with amazing views from all windows and the wrap around front porch. Laura's pride and joy is the beautiful nursery next to the house. (If we didn't have a car full of gear - I would've got a lot more flowers than I did- so many pretty ones to choose from!) She gives guests a discount too. I will def be back... maybe with my husband this time!

We stayed at this hidden gem for one night for a quick trip to see our son at Penn State. We traveled with our older son who has physical disabilities and we were so happy to have found a B&B that could accommodate a wheelchair as well as an accessible bathroom. While staying in most hotels we never encounter ADA issues, but it is hard to find such a lovely inn that is as welcoming as this one. Joe, the inn keeper was very friendly, knowledgeable and made sure we were well taken care of. Our room was clean, comfortable, nicely furnished and large enough to comfortably accommodate all three of us. The inn itself is beautiful. The common areas are nicely furnished, comfortable and inviting. It was wonderful for my son to see a plate of freshly baked cookies waiting for us when we arrived. Breakfast the next day was delicious. The scones were awesome and the stratta was perfect too. We have already reserved a room for a football weekend this fall. The location is pretty close to the campus. Getting to and from downtown State College was very easy. We will become frequent guests, I am sure.

I have been a repeat guest at The Rock Garden for years now, and I have never been anything less than thrilled with my stay. I first visited when my daughter was considering PSU and we are now booked for graduation! Joe Thomas is a wonderful host. He always goes the extra mile to make us feel welcome and our stay just perfect. The property is very clean, incredibly comfortable and beautifully maintained. Don't give it another thought, book now, you will not be disappointed!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the B&B at the Rock Garden. The house was so beautiful, decorated just right and very cozy and welcoming. Joe was quite the host; from chocolate chip cookies Friday to warm brownie Saturday's, our stay was very special. The breakfast was out of this world. I eagerly await another chance to go back!
