This is a beautiful home. We experienced a very relaxing atmosphere, outstanding breakfasts, and a comfortable and spacious room. The "icing on the cake" was the very personable and caring hostesses. We are looking forward to returning soon.
Our host Patsy was very welcoming and pleased to show us her themed rooms, each carefully prepared with unique memorabilia - Elvis, Johnny Cash & June Carter, Patsy Cline, and the two new rooms. Quality of furnishings was outstanding, as was the personally home cooked afternoon tea and breakfast. Views lovely. Private entry to the rooms makes it easy to come & go.
We couldn't find any house address or B&B sign. We guessed and were not joyously greeted by the pleasant owner, because the owner wasn't there. We didn't get out of the car with three large roaming dogs about, then someone showed up. After questioning who he was, we found he was simply a tenant who informed us the owners were out of town. How were we to proceed? Were the dogs safe, not only with us, but with our little dog we brought. We made it inside and were shown which room was ours. We wondered where we would have breakfast. (It was upstairs in the tenant's private area). Our room was in the basement, which was decorated nicely, but was so cold, I had to wrap blankets around me. There was no private thermostat. There was no one asking how our room was, if it was warm or cool enough, where the microwave was,(not in the kitchen), no one to show us which options were available on TV, no optional amenities, such as hot water and bags for tea, packaged snacks (after a long drive), private travel size toiletries, (there were half-used shampoos etc in the bath--I was disgusted, as I was not their elderly aunt; I was a paying tenant), Also, we had to sneak our dog outside, hoping not to run into the loose dogs. I could imagine how someone who is afraid of dogs would feel. They should have been kenneled. The owner did call us later, but complaining to an unknown faceless voice was not acceptable. The "maid" came in the next morning to cook what we asked for, but unlike other B&B's we've been to, there should have been a variety of choices displayed by the owner in the morning with a cheerful disposition. We have never been so displeased with a B&B. They were very unprofessional, and their idea of renting out a basement room in their rental is not a B&B!
You can see the pictures of this home and read about the innkeeper's southern hospitality in the reviews, but that still doesn't adequately prepare you for the delightful experience if you choose to stay at this inn. Prior to our arrival Miss Patsy called to both verify our arrival time and check to see if we would enjoy some tea and cake. Tea. Cake. Breakfast made to order. I have read about southern hospitality, but as a native Californian it is always a delight to experience it firsthand. Both Patsy and her husband Dennis are friendly folks who like to get to know their visitors. Miss Patsy is the one who actively manages the B&B and her philosophical approach to the business makes this a wonderful place to stay beyond the delicious food. As you see in the pictures, each room is devoted to different Country Music legends and decorated with collected items related to that legend. The rooms are large, accommodating and very quiet - we never heard the guest in the room next to us. The house has many amenities available for guests to use that make this a great place to stay for individuals, families, or groups. The grounds are large, allowing for either quiet reflection or a gathering. While the house itself is contemporary with modern amenities, a stay here is a step back to a slower time when friends gathered on porches in the afternoon to sip tea and discuss life. It is a quiet place where one can relieve the stress of a fast-paced life and heal. About the dogs: you will see a notation on this site that dogs reside at this inn. Be forewarned that Miss Patsy's dogs have the sweetest disposition and that upon checking out you will be leaving three additional friends behind.
I stayed on consecutive weekends in August. Rooms are clean. Patsy is very kind and welcoming. She organizes breakfast the night before so let her know what time and what you'd like and it'll be ready. She was also kind enough to make me bagged lunches. The location off the main road through town made it very peaceful. Lots of trees give good sound insulation and make you feel more isolated than you really are.
Having never stayed at a B&B, I did not know what to expect. I was in the Rose room while my sister was in the Magnolia room. We both had privacy with common areas between us. I loved the antique clawfoot tub in the Rose room. All of the accommodations were lovely as well as comfortable, even the inside temperature. Despite the West Tennessee heat, we were cool and comfortable inside. We also enjoyed sitting on the front or back porches (both screened in) to enjoy passing thunderstorms. Bailey made sure our needs were met, providing us with a different breakfast each morning. The internet was fast and dependable. I enjoyed every minute of my four days there. Home Sweet Home is a beautiful and comfortable place to stay and Bailey is a perfect host. Everything was just right!
I called the hostess to let her know when we'd be arriving, she said she had homemade banana bread and tea waiting for us. It was delicious and she sent us off with more banana bread the next day. We enjoyed the sounds of crickets while swinging on the porch swing at night. Breakfast on the porch the next morning was lovely.
I stayed here for 1 night on June 6th, 2016. I travel a lot and this place was outstanding. The owner greeted me at the door, showed me to my room. I stayed in the Elvis Room. WOW the entire place is decorated so nice. Each room is different. As I arrived she called ma and asked if I like Carrot Cake? She had homemade Carrot Cake and coffee that evening. And do NOT miss breakfast! Home cooked meal, the owner asked what I wanted. The family recipe biscuits are so GOOD! Everything from the service, to the place to the food is spot on. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
We lived in Paris while my husband was in PA school and went back for his graduation weekend. Home Sweet Home made Paris feel like home one more time! Bailey was very accommodating about letting us check in early and making sure we have everything we needed. The other two rooms ended up being rented out by classmates of my husbands which made the whole weekend that much more special. The B&B was clean, breakfast was delicious and was the perfect location to town being right off the square. If we ever make it back to Paris again we will definitely stay at Home Sweet Home again!!!
Unfortunately I had only booked one night at this lovely Bed and Breakfast. The owners are a lovely couple who are genuinely welcoming and a pleasure to have met. The rooms have been decorated with precise detail and care and were just absolutely beautiful. This was a perfect spot for us traveling from Memphis to Nashville and spots in between for all the history in the area. We were also provided a gourmet breakfast that we were not expecting and welcomed with a homemade cake. Can't wait to stay here again.
Bailey was out of town so Debbie took care of us. Our room was perfect, the house was perfect and the little town was perfect. FIRST TRIP TO A BED AND BREAKFAST AND IT WONT BE THE LAST!!!!
I stayed at Home Sweet Home last night and I greatly enjoyed my stay. Bailey greeted me and made me feel right at home. I felt like I was being welcomed home by family. He even offered me some of his freshly made beef stew for supper and this morning he helped me look for places to rent and jobs for my husband. (We are moving to Paris because I just got a job there.) He went above and beyond and even texted me later on in the day wishing me safe travels back to Alabama and welcoming me to Paris. I will definitely be returning to Home Sweet Home in the future. The whole place was very clean and well cared for, the food was great, the bed was extremely comfortable, the wifi was very fast and connected easily, and every amenity I needed was provided. It's a great alternative to a hotel, especially in the Paris area.
My husband and I were in Paris to visit friends, and really enjoyed our stay at the Home Sweet Home Bed and Breakfast. The beautiful, historical home was cozy and Bailey ensured our every need was met. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again on our next visit!
I really enjoyed our stay and Home Sweet Home Bed and Breakfast. Ed went out of his way to answer all of our questions and told us about some excellent places to eat dinner. Ed is an excellent cook, the breakfast was always excellent. I will stay here again!
Such a nice house (clean!) and the owner was wonderful-- made us feel very welcome and was very attentive to anything we needed. The breakfast was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay. No complaints.
We stayed in the Rose room during the fall. The fireplace in our bedroom made for a cozy, relaxing evening. Ed was the most hospitable host and we felt welcome and unafraid to roam the house and amenities. There were several little touches that we loved...the fan and overhead light were remote controlled, the gas fireplace in our bedroom, snacks, tea and hot cocoa in the butlers pantry at all times, cheese and wine when we arrived, and chocolates beside the bed. Breakfast was wonderful. We had eggs, bacon, biscuits, and homemade gravy. Afterwards we sat in the rockers on the screened in front porch and drank coffee. I highly recommend Home Sweet Home and when we visit Paris again, we know exactly where we'll be staying.
Ed was the most gracious host. I had a very long day...driving from IN and working all day, and he greeted me at the door with a smile. He also fed this weary gal. It was such a nice place to unwind and rest. As the name says, it is like being at home. I look forward to my next visit.
This is an absolute must go! Do yourself a favor and book a weekend at Home Sweet Home B&B. Super cozy and a beautiful location a couple blocks from the downtown square. The hosts, Ed and Vickey are first class...absolutely fantastic. Drinks and hors d'oeuvres upon arrival and a Home cooked country breakfast to get each day started! Thoroughly enjoyed the friendly conversations! Ed is very knowledgeable about the history of the home and Paris, TN. Vickey is well traveled and super interesting! Although we would have been perfectly fine never leaving the B&B, they provided us with great recommendations for going out and seeing the city of Paris. The also gave us a coupon to use at the Paris Winery, also highly recommended (2 meals and a bottle of wine for 39 bucks! you kidding me!). I would take this place over any 5 star/5 diamond hotel or resort any day of the week. You just can't sale the personality, style, and class that Ed and Vickey show! Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer! We will definitely be back...and back...and back! Thanks Ed and Vickey! Michael and Jana
We had a wedding at the Paris Winery to attend and found this B&B to be a great stay! We requested both rooms and found our hosts most accomodating. I even needed a hair appointment which our host took care of for me - an excellent day spa nearby was willing to take this one time customer. We really appreciated the wine and snacks set out for us which we happily consumed in between functions. Sitting out on the porch for breakfast was cool and relaxing. We appreciated the service, hospitality and comfort of the B&B and would recommend it to anyone who needed to be in the area.
We stayed at the HSH for a night and were extremely surprised and happy with our service and accommodations. Ed is a true gentleman; hors d'oeuvres were simple, light and refreshing. We did not get to meet Vicky but the decor is attributed to her wonderful tastes. The bed was firm and slept great. Breakfast was southern, filling and tasty. HSH is a gem that’s needs discovering by us bob patrons. Give it a try; you'll be glad you did.
In a small town called Paris in TN is a quaint home built in 1909. The owner/manager is are world traveled locals. Ed and Vickies experiences have led to this wonderful B&B. Ed is a true southern gentleman. We did not get to meet Vickey but Ed gives the decor credit to her and it is amazing. I cant say enough good about HSH. Bed is firm, breakfast is southern at its finest. Give them a chance, you will be glad you did. Mark Brewer, I was not paid or asked for this reference, they earned it.
We came to Paris, TN for a business meeting and decided to try this B&B. We were so warmly weclomed right from the start by Ed meeting us on the porch. We immediately took a tour and decided which rooms to use. The hosts immediately offered wine and cheese while we sat on the deck and enjoyed a spring sunset with engaging conversation. Ed and Vickey have furnished this B&B with some early 1900 furniture and decor which made it period correct. A lot time was spent to update this building for comfort while keeping the feel of a early 1900 century house. Breakfast was up and beyond expectations with fresh eggs and local meats from the butcher. We conducted a meeting soon after in their new conference room with all the electronics and 46" flat panel with easy access. Thank you HSH for a most enjoyable stay. Mark, Kent and Olaf.
