If you like lovingly restored homes this is the place for you. Picture perfect setting near a variety of things to do in Lancaster County. The breakfasts are wonderful. Last but by no means not least the Wolf Sanctuary of PA is right on the property.

Had never stayed in a B&B before. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! Peaceful, serenity, and just a lovely place to stay. The owners are down to earth people and not snobbish at all. Their passion is the B&B and their wolves. You don't feel like and outcast unless you're of a snobbish person yourself. Any questions that you have they are more than welcomed to answer and encourage them. Don't be disappointed that you can't touch the wolves as they are wild animals and do everything to protect them and you.

My friend of 40 years and I had an exceptional experience at Speedwell Forge B&B. We were pleasantly surprised! The accommodations were amazing and the breakfast was to die for!! Thanks Dawn!!

Our stay at Speedwell Forge was amazing! The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, the food was delicious, and the hospitality was wonderful! I cannot say enough good things about our stay and would not hesitate to return and to also spread the word to our friends and family. Thank you Dawn and Darin for a memorable trip!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Speedwell Forge Bed & Breakfast, so much so that we stayed an extra night! We stayed in the very romantic Paymaster's suit. Adding to the romance, we ordered the picnic basket of treats from our lovely hostess, Dawn. We enjoyed Dawn's homemade bread and brownies alongside a variety of cheeses and fruit, and sparkling apple cider. (The ginger jam was delicious!) All this sitting outside, in this beautiful place, waiting to have our couple's massage. What an awesome experience! Dawn was the perfect hostess. Not only does she cook a scrumptious breakfast , accommodating her guests every dietary need, she is also a wonderful conversationalist and genuinely seems to enjoy what she does. Her passion for the care of the wolves in the sanctuary and knowledge of each wolf's personal history shows very clearly. We plan to visit again for our 1 year anniversary.
5 on May 20, 2016
Our room was lovely, quiet and overlooked the picturesque creek that runs through the property. The three-course breakfast was a treat and the host had no issues accommodating special dietary needs. The food was so delicious no one would have known the chef was working around two separate sets of dietary restrictions. Having access to spend time observing the wolves at your leisure is another excellent reason to stay at the B&B when visiting the Wolf Sanctuary. We are already planning our next visit.
5 on May 17, 2016
This was most likely our sixth visit. Aside from a beautiful, relaxing, comfortable, very immaculate place to stay, Dawn is so sweet, makes a wonderful breakfast each morning, asks all the necessary questions to determine food requirements/allergies, and provides information on local restaurants, things to see, auto repair needs, etc. And then, there are the soothing sounds of the resident wolves howling! There are scheduled tours and occasional events to attend.
5 on April 26, 2016
Dawn is the best host! The rooms and Inn's are outstanding! I would recommend to anyone that would love a getaway in the Lancaster county woods. very close to fine dining and outdoor fun!

Stayed at Speedwell Forge B&B over the Valentine's Day weekend. It was wonderfully romantic and fully relaxing! The grounds and Wolf Sanctuary were the perfect background to a stunning winter vacation. I have never stayed in a room that was as clean as this one. Breakfast was super tasty with unique dishes. Quiet, relaxing, magical with wonderful inn keepers. Will return for another stay!

This is the cleanest, most relaxing place I've ever stayed. The hosts are so welcoming, breakfast is delicious and the atmosphere is great. Of course, being located next to the wolf sanctuary makes it extra special.

The bed and breakfast and fantastic. It is a bed and breakfast so there is no onsite dining. However, the breakfast is great. Being on the wolf snctuary is definitely a bonus

This was second visit to the Speedwell Forge Bed and Breakfast. There will certainly be a third. The entire experience is absolutely enjoyable and you even managed to pull off perfect weather. An all around great time.

This was our 3rd or 4th year staying at this wonderful B&B. AND it has the Wolf Sanctuary right next door so you can sometimes hear the wolves howling at night! I highly recommend this beautiful property that has the nicest owners and support staff.

This was our second stay at Speedwell Forge and we enjoyed it immensely. It's without a doubt an amazing place to spend a quiet weekend. I wish I could say more about the Innkeeper's breakfast spread as I've heard it's fantastic but not being much of a morning person, we didn't get a chance to try it.
5 on September 03, 2015
From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. Dawn was an amazing host. The cottage we had was the summer cottage. It was beautiful. We had access to the wolves at all times. We learned so much during our stay from the moon light tour to sitting with the wolves at daybreak. We had a 3 course breakfast every morning and Dawn can cook. You can see the love in every detail from Dawn and Darrin. I can't wait to return.

We stayed here 3 consecutive nights for a midweek getaway. Absolute top notch room, service, location and Breakfast. We hope to be able to do this again in the future.

Our stay at speedwell forge was the most relaxing and interesting vacation of all. Me and my husband decided to try this b&b because we had some time off from our busy lives.this is exactly what we needed, tranquility ,hospitality and an all out perfect stay. Our cottage the "paymaster suite" was perfect. It was private and clean with all the amenities you needed. The breakfast was delicious home made quiche fresh apple torte and the most flavorful sausage I ever had with a balsamic glaze on them....just out of this world. We arrived around 3 pm had a wonder walk around the wolves that are amazing . They each have their own personality and if your an animal lover you will enjoy this tremendously like we did.we hated to leave but we know the next time we get a couple of days off this is where we will go!!! Thank you Dawn and your husband for a great time. We will be back. Rosemary

We stayed at this B & B three nights/four days. It was awesome. Quiet, relaxing, breakfast was great. We enjoyed talking with our hosts Dawn and Darin. We loved being able to walk through the wolf sanctuary multiple times a day to see the wolves. Being caring people for the welfare of animals we were impressed by the love care They give to the wolves. Best trip in a long time.

We stayed in the Paymaster's Office for three nights after our wedding. My wife and I both loved the entire experience. The Paymaster's Office is in a separate building a little ways away from the rest of the bed and breakfast and made for a perfect romantic getaway. One of the reason's we stayed here was because we say reviews raving about how clean Dawn keeps her rooms and we were not disappointed. She is an incredible host and makes an excellent breakfast. Our stay got a little pricey, but it was totally worth it. My wife and I are hoping to visit again for an anniversary or maybe just a special weekend on occasion.
5 on May 20, 2015
Speedwell Forge B&B is the perfect place for a relaxing, romantic weekend. Dawn & Darin are such gracious hosts. Beautiful setting! Our room was perfect, everything was spotless and breakfast was delicious! For us, however, the best part of our stay was visiting with the wolves in the Sanctuary. So many personalities. It was a highlight of our trip!
4.8 on May 13, 2015
Speedwell Forge B&B was a wonderful place for our weekend get away. The breakfasts were amazing, and Dawn was very accommodating to our food sensitivities. We stayed in the mansion, which was clean and beautiful. Part of the reason is was so clean was that Dawn requests all guest to remove their shoes upon entry; this was not an issue for us, but may be a consideration for others. The lands are gorgeous, and we really enjoyed our time spent walking around and watching the wolves. They do wonderful work at the sanctuary, and the volunteers are knowledgeable and helpful--it is clearly a "calling" for many of them. Their love of the animals was evident. We are already planning a return trip.
5 on May 09, 2015
This is a beautiful B&B in a serene and secluded setting. The hosts can accommodate special diet needs and the three-course breakfast is always amazing and delicious. Having free access to the wolf sanctuary is the special treat for guests of the B&B. We will be going back soon!

5 on April 23, 2015
Our stay was amazing due to a labor of love in not only the care of the wolves but in the restoration of a beautiful historical home. We took the informative tour of the sanctuary and saw much more of the 120 acres by being an overnight guest. Dawn is passionate about her rescue of wolves all while running an exceptional B&B. It's a most memorable experience. Well done.

My wife and I went to the Speedwell Forge B&B for our 9th anniversary and greatly enjoyed our stay there. The historic main house has been carefully restored and is very homey at the same time. We enjoyed our breakfast, getting to chat with Dawn, and our visit to the Wolf Sanctuary of PA next door. We hope to stay again at the Speedwell Forge B&B before too long.

The rooms are pristine, the inn keeprs warm and welcoming, and the setting quiet and peaceful. It is the perfect getaway surrounded by many attractions so your time can be as busy or quiet as you would like. The Wolf Sanctuary is an added benefit. I booked Speedwell Forge B&B as a birthday surprise for my wife. Our stay was outstanding in all categories. It proved to be the ultimate gift for my wife. In her words, her "best birthday ever." We are already looking ahead to a return visit.

Staying at Speedwell Forge is like visiting the family that you actually like to see. Dawn is so warm and welcoming and always around to answer any questions or just have a chat. She also cooks a very healthy and delicious breakfast. The housekeeper, Brenda, keeps things so clean you could eat off the bathroom floor. Right in the backyard is the Wolf Sanctuary of PA which is an amazing and educational spot for wolf lovers. My stay at Speedwell Forge was the most relaxing vacation I ever took. We re-booked for two months later before we checked out.

My wife and I spent a wonderful weekend at Speedwell B&B. The Inn Keeper was top notch and incredibly knowledgeable on the history of the property and it's impact on the area. She was also more than willing to share. We stayed in the Summer Kitchen off the main house and it was awesome. My wife being the "germaphobe" that she is was VERY pleased at how neat and clean the facilities were and the attention to detail. The breakfasts were very tasteful and suited everyone's liking. The wolves were an added benefit, it was so cool to hear them howl at dusk and to experience the wolf tour was very informative and enjoyable. We are already planning a return visit and would definitely recommend it.

By far the best trip I've ever taken. We stayed in the Paymaster's Office, a private cottage on the grounds. Everything was immaculate, from the cleanliness of the rooms to the friendliness and warmth of the hosts. Dawn is a fantastic cook and an even friendlier host, she sat down and had coffee with us after cooking us a three course breakfast. After the first day I wanted to call her mom! Needless to say the fact that it is on a wolf reservation makes it a unique and awesome experience. We will absolutely be coming back!

I had 10 paragraphs typed up but it was way too long for this review at only 2000 characters. The Speedwell Forge B&B is an absolutely amazing place to stay and my girlfriend will be going back many many more times. I would very highly recommend a stay here in this beautiful and well located B&B. I can't fully explain how amazing it was because of lack of room. Take a trip to this beautiful sanctuary and you will not regret it!
5 on February 18, 2015
We have been staying at Speedwell Forge every year for the past 5 years for our anniversary, and will continue to do so as long as we can. My only regret is that we can't stay longer. Spotless rooms, and the most delicious food. Dawn is always very accommodating. Love, love, love! And the wolves always make my heart sing.

I can only recommend a stay at Speedwell Forge B&B. The building is charming, clean and the food is outstanding. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The wolf sanctuary on the grounds is well maintained. The wolf are all very well taken care of. We enjoyed our stay very much and will return.
5 on January 15, 2015
This was the second time that my wife and I stayed at Speedwell Forge. Just like the first time, our stay was wonderful. We stayed in a cottage away from the mansion, but had breakfast in the mansion each morning. All of the locations on the property are very well maintained and immaculate. The food is excellent and area attractions offer something for everyone. If you love animals, you'll appreciate that The Wolf Sanctuary of PA is managed by the folks at Speedwell and shares the property. There is nothing more surreal than hearing the wolves howl, particularly at night. It's actually a very relaxing sound!

Visited the wolves over Halloween. It was our first visit. What an amazing experience. We truly enjoyed everything. Dawn is an amazing cook and we both loved the wonderful breakfast conversations. After breakfast each morning we did the wolf tour. It was incredible and the guides were very knowledgeable. We also walked around every chance we got and it was very peaceful. The Paymaster's cottage is a great. Love the fireplace and the large soaking tub. The decadence package was a nice addition. The gluten free breads Dawn made were to die for. The couples massage very relaxing. Highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast. You will never regret staying here. Before the weekend was over we had already booked our next stay.

My girlfriend and I located this B&B after we found the wolf sanctuary. We were not disappointed. The location was outstanding and we were well accommodated. My girlfriend is particular about what she can and cannot eat and our host worked around it without a problem. The wolves were outstanding as well! I will be going again for sure.

This B & B was outstanding the first time I was there, and it gets better each time. I rate it "OUTSTANDING PLUS++++", and their enclosures for the wolves are more spectacular every time. Dorothy Velthaus, Oyster Bay, New York

This is my second time to Speedwell Forge B&B in 3 months! We stayed in the Summer Kitchen and it was absolutely awesome. Dawn does an excellent job as hostess and the Wolf Sanctuary is well worth the visit. Just to be educated on the wolves and be able to walk out and see them adds to the experience if you are a wolf lover as I! Highly recommend to anyone in the area or looking for a night or two to get away and the summer kitchen provides nice privacy.

A fantastic experience. Dawn and Darin really make you feel at home. We're already planning our next stay.

Speedwell Forge is a wonderfully relaxing and quiet get-away. Dawn's breakfasts are always delicious, and she is willing to cater to special dietary needs, which is not something you will find everywhere you stay. We love the quiet surroundings. This is definitely the place to come when you need to get-away from the hustle and bustle of life!
5 on November 10, 2014
This B&B was built in1760 and is just unbelievable in its charm and beauty. Every square inch is immaculate, the rooms are cozy and even the bathroom floor is heated . Your hosts Dawn and Darin are very nice and Dawn prepares the best breakfast! The price was even less than we spent in Comfort Inns. The best perk though is you have access to the Wolf Sanctuary just about anytime you wish. Observing these majestic and beautiful animals was especially special for us. Treat yourself to a unique experience and stay here , you won't be disappointed .

what else could a person ask for? Speedwell Forge B&B is is a relaxing place to stay while visiting Amish country. We stayed in Bill's room......perfect for my husband and I. The B&B is so cozy and comfy. Nicely decorated throughout and not to mention how extremely clean the whole house is. The breakfasts are wonderful! Dawn caters to each persons needs and allergies while keeping the food delicious. Having the property is on a Wolf Sanctuary is the icing on the cake. The wolves are amazing. We love visiting the wolves every day. Beautiful creatures and hearing the howling is lovely. We will always stay with the wolves every time we visit.

We absolutely loved this B&B. We stayed in the Whyte house which was sparkling clean (as if no one was ever in there before - even though it's been a year since completion of that cottage). Dawn, the innkeeper and chef is so warm and welcoming and puts out a great 3 course breakfast. The wolves are so well cared for and very obviously loved by all the staff. The tour is a must. Our tour guide talked, interacted with the wolves and answered questions for 2 full hours. We would definitely recommend this B&B whole-heartedly and will for sure return ourselves.

We could only spare one night in our busy schedules, so I was looking for someplace really special to spend that time. Well, I found it at Speedwell Forge. We stayed in the Paymasters Suite and it was absolutely the perfect place for my husband and I to relax and reconnect. The weather was beautiful and it was full moon too. It is wonderful to see how passionate Dawn and her volunteers are about the sanctuary and the wonderful work they are doing there. It was really neat to walk through the sanctuary and experience the personalities of the different packs. I personally enjoyed the stories of how each one of these beautiful creatures came to reside there. We are hoping to come back and visit again one day soon.

We spent four nights at the Speedwell Forge B & B. It was the most relaxing get away. The property is absolutely lovely, the proprietors are wonderful and a joy to know, and the breakfasts were wonderful. A highlight was the opportunity to meet others at breakfast and enjoy wonderful conversation. It is a definite "will be back again" on the list of places we've visited. It is well located and within easy access to so many different areas and places of interest. And then it is a wonderful refuge at the end of the day.

This place was amazing and Dawn was quite a hostess. It was our first stay at an B&B and what a good one it was. I looked out our bedroom window in the morning to see the morning sunlight on the golden autumn leaves as well as the setting full moon. Wow! The location was peaceful, quiet and beautiful. Dawn was kind and very informative about her property, renovations and the wolves. I highly recommend this place.

We wanted to have a quiet getaway for our 2 years anniversary, decided to check out the sanctuary....let me tell you~ we were NOT disappointed at all! Such a beautiful property! From the minute we pulled into the driveway I could feel the positive energy and a welcoming calm. We stayed in the Whyte house- AWESOME!! So cozy. Loved the tub and shower;) We also enjoyed hearing and seeing the wolves. Then there was breakfast-- YUMMY! Dawn really went above and beyond to make the first meal of the day special and filling. I wanted her to move in with us so she can make that granola every morning;) We are planning on coming back, year after year and telling everyone along the way about the Speedwell Forge B&B 6 stars in our book

The Speedwell Forge is a thoroughly delightful place to stay. We loved everything about our recent visit - from the remarkably peaceful and exceptionally clean lodging to the intriguing wolves on the property. We stayed at the Paymaster's Office which is beautiful and relaxing. Dawn is an excellent host who happily shares the history of this wonderful dwelling. It is a lovely retreat!

We enjoyed a wonderful get away weekend, lovely weather and even lovelier accommodations. We chose to stay in the mansion rather than a guest house and found the room comfortable, quiet and beautifully restored. We couldn't have asked for a friendlier hostess. The surrounding property and Wolf Sanctuary were an added bonus. We ventured throughout the Lancaster area and found the Inn's location to be very central to several attractions. The town of Lititz made for an enjoyable outing and many of the cafes and restaurants had well above average fare. Certainly a special much need respite for us and one we might think of duplicating in the future.

Dawn and Darrin opened their lovely home to us and made us feel very welcome. Rooms were beautiful and clean. Breakfasts were delicious. Three courses made to perfection.

This B&B is a house built in 1760 and lovingly restored by its owner, Dawn. It is beautifully decorated and meticulously clean, yet has a warm and comfortable vibe. Dawn prepares an amazing 3-course breakfast every morning and caters to all dietary needs (in my case, gluten free). There's a lot of land to wander around, but the highlight is a visit to the wolf sanctuary. Guests get a free tour which is informative, and fun. Seeing the wolves up close (as close as you can get with two fences between you and them) was an amazing experience. The guides talked about the social structure of each pack, as well as the personalities of each wolf. They are beautiful, but misunderstood animals. The tour was an eye-opener and the highlight of my vacation!

My husband and I arrived around 4pm on a Friday for a 2-night stay in the "Paymaster's Office" cottage. As we pulled in to a space in front of the main building, the front door opened and we were greeted by one of the resident innkeepers, Dawn, an easy going, charming, garrulous host, ready with a fount of information about the Inn and surrounding communities, both historical and practical. That lovely, welcoming introduction set the tone for a stay that, had we time enough, we'd have been delighted to extend for days. The beautifully appointed cottage felt like a home in the woods, peacefully quiet during the day, dark and starry-sky'd at night. Although marvelous, filling breakfasts were prepared and served by Dawn in a dining room set with table cloths and china, they still felt casual and homey. The Inn is gorgeous and well maintained. We'll be shocked if we find elsewhere an equally delightful, memorable B&B stay.

My husband and I did a quick overnight here on our way back to CT. We had a wonderful stay and loved visiting Lititz. The inn is beautiful and we enjoyed visiting the wolves. On our departure day, Dawn made us an amazing breakfast! I loved the coffee. I hope we can make another visit someday.

This was my wife and I second visit to Speedwell Forge B&B. It was a gift from our daughter and husband as a thank you for all of our hard work on her recent wedding. They remembered all of the good memories we shared with them on our first visit and thought this would be a fantastic "THANK YOU" My wife and I could not agree more. The Paymaster Suite was impeccable and our hosts, Dawn and Darren, were so friendly and gracious that it made our stay another of our favorite memories!

The house was really nice! Our room was very clean :) and the homemade granola was delicious. We enjoyed our wolf tour (that was included with our stay at the b&b). Denny was a great tour guide-very informative.

Our stay at Speedwell Forge was wonderful. Not only was the place beautiful, but the experience of being with wolves and hearing them howl, was beyond fabulous. We also enjoyed our special breakfast with Dawn and her other guests. It was a perfect time enjoyed by all!! Toni and Joaquin Lorenzo

We loved our stay at Speedwell Forge B&B. We were in one of the cottages and it was lovely, spacious, pristine, and comfy! Having the wolf sanctuary on site was an added bonus and made the visit extra memorable! I'll keep my eye out for special offers so that we'll be able to visit again soon!

I wanted to surprise my husband with a short getaway for our 15th year anniversary so I booked a night here. It was very clean & I enjoyed the atmosphere of an old home with modern conveniences. Our host was terrific! She was friendly and showed us all around. I felt as if I had known her for a long time. We learned about the wolves and had a tour the next day of the wolf sanctuary. Breakfast was delicious! I'm vegan & she prepared some wonderful dishes- granola, baked apples , potatoes, quiche and cherry tomatoes. A very relaxing stay!

This was the most marvelous B&B and I can't recommend it more strongly. Can't say enuf about the food, service or rooms not to mention the entertainment of WOLVES. On the grounds of the Wolf Sanctuary of PA

This place is a true gem! The owners are so friendly and welcoming and really make you feel at home. Breakfast is perfect, and the rooms/house are so clean. The wolves really make this place extremely unique, and when tours aren't going on, (which is most of the time) you can roam the property as you choose until dusk. It was quiet, relaxing, and peaceful. They have the cutest hybrid dog as well, that you are allowed to pet. The other guests were so nice as well. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. I will definitely be returning as soon as I can!
5 on July 21, 2014
We arrived at the B&B on a warm Sunday afternoon and were greeted by Dawn. She shared with us some of the rich history of the house and we marvelled at the architectural detail. We then went to the Paymaster's Quarters and found the perfect room for a getaway. Dinner in Lititz and a great night's sleep were the perfect combination. Early the next morning I walked through the reserve and the wolves responded with quite the seranade. Amazing animals-up close and personal.

We have stayed at B&B's up and down the East Coast. Speedwell Forge ranks as the best one we have had the pleasure of staying in. Our room was spacious, beautiful and very clean. Our bathroom was fully modernized and had great amenities like plush robes for us to wear after showering. Breakfast each morning was delicious. Dawn, the inn keeper, goes out of her way to ensure each guest is happy with their meal. The grounds are lovely, the wolf sanctuary is an added bonus. Christina K

We stayed at Speedwell Forge for 4 nights. The house was amazing. The history was just oozing out of every beautifully restored corner. The owner Dawn and her husband Darren were both gracious and knowledgable, giving us much information about a dwelling with some very interesting past. Our room was a beautiful reflection of simpler times but with all the modern amenities. Breakfast was a dream for your tastebuds and yet conscious of individual dietary needs. We will definitely be returning for another stay during another season. We stayed during the summer and are hoping for a Fall trip and a Winter trip as well. Thank you Dawn and Darren. See you soon, Laurie and Steve

We went to Speedwell for our honeymoon. We had a wonderful time staying in the Paymaster's room. Dawn is a wonderful person and cook. The property and mansion are breath taking. The wolves will steal your heart. We can't wait to go back!
5 on July 09, 2014
Everything about the forge was perfect! We stayed in the Paymaster's Cabin: quiet, private, clean, amazing whirlpool tub. Dawn is a fantastic host, and her cooking was beyond belief! If you stay at the forge you get free range of the wolf preserve at any time, so we were able to see them on a more personal level without the crowds. We are already planning our next trip!

The rooms were nice it not above average for a bed and breakfasts. Breakfast was also delicious, but not anymore outstanding then other places. What was outstanding was Dawn's desire to help in any way, her willingness to accommodate vegans and the wonderful Wolf Sanctuary.

This was a charming get away. The summer kitchen was well worth the cost to stay for two evenings. I have to praise the owner and her staff for making the weekend extra special. Everyone was very nice and Dawn goes out of her way to make sure everyone has everything that they need. The wolves on the property are awesome. I would recommend you take the tour of the sanctuary while you are there. The volunteers were very informative. I would definitely recommend this for a quiet, out of the way retreat.
5 on June 05, 2014
Dawn was the nicest hostess we could have asked for. We love the wolf sanctuary and finally decided to stay overnight. We chose the summer kitchen cottage and we absolutely loved it! Everyone on site was so pleasant and answered all our questions about the history and the wolves. Thank you Dawn!

The setting was so peaceful and buccolic . We stayed in the mansion which is beautifully decorated and comfortable. The rooms were lovely. Dawn is a gracious, warm hostess. Her breakfasts are incredibly delicious. One of the best parts of our stay was being able to visit the wolves when other visitors were not there. We got to really spend time with them, observing and interacting with them in a very special way. A great experience!

We stayed 4 nights in the summer kitchen 2 storey cottage. It was perfect and spacious. Fantastically clean. Elegant modern separate jacuzzi plus bathroom. Very comfortable bed and downstairs daybed, all in a lovely old stone building. Private but right next to the main house where delicious breakfasts were created by Dawn. She carefully accommodated our dietary needs and preferences. We could access the main house as well as ours at all times. There was even a piano we could play! The other guests were interesting and fun to breakfast with. Very close to Lititz and set in a peaceful secluded setting. We had very nice massages one evening and had requested a basket of goodies which became our supper so we didn't then need to go out. But the real highlight and our reason for chosen this b&b was the superb wolf sanctuary adjacent to it. It is operated with the highest principles, care, compassion and safety (for wolves and humans alike!) The wolves are magnificent. The owners and volunteers are wonderful people who admirably exemplify and balance commitment, passion professionalism in a warm but not intrusive way. They attract a high calibre of staff. We couldn't recommend thus unique and perfect place any more highly. I'm not a big b&b fan to be honest, i prefer privacy, but this was a totally perfect experience.

From the moment of entry to this historic Inn, we were amazed at the cleanliness, warmth of surroundings and beauty at every turn. The library was so inviting that we wanted to sit immediately in the deep leather recliners and enjoy the view of the grounds outside the windows. Our bedroom was spacious and beautifully furnished The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were perfect. The bathroom was quite large and the shower was especially nice. The design for this corner shower was innovative and sensible. The curved door slid on its track in such a way that there was no fear of water escaping to the floor outside the shower. All linens were of an exceptional quality. The innkeeper and owner Dawn was always willing to answer our questions and help us with anything needed. She prepared and served a delicious and healthy breakfast. I especially liked the fact that guests staying in the cottages were welcome to enjoy breakfast in the Inn. That gave us the opportunity to meet more people with similar interests from other areas and to share great conversation over a lovely meal. A true bonus was the ability to visit the Wolf Sanctuary on the grounds anytime throughout our stay. This was an experience all around that will not be forgotten.

We had a memorable stay in this gem of a place. Dawn has done a magnificent, sensitive restoration to this historic and beautiful house. The setting of the house in its surrounding grounds and acreage is unique and provides many outdoor experiences in the midst of nature. We loved being in this place so much, that we spent our entire time in that part of Pennsylvania, there at Speedwell Forge, walking around the place, taking it all in. The house itself makes one feel one is back in colonial times. I could easily imagine someone like John and Abigail Adams living their daily lives in this home. We will return, that is certain.

Just once in anyone's lifetime this needs to be experienced...being onsite at the Wolf Sanctuary is amazing. The wolves are magnificent animals. The B&B is the best we have ever stayed at..we stayed in the Paymasters Office....recommend highly ...never have been anywhere so quiet.

Speedwell Forge B&B was one of the nicest B&B's I ever stayed at! Outstanding everything!! This was a special getaway, a romantic weekend in which I proposed to my future bride - she said yes! We stayed in the Paymaster's cottage which was amazing. Dawn created a masterpiece with a cozy fireplace, antique furniture, a spectacular whirlpool tub, a super sized comfortable bed, modern heating and air conditioning, all natural bath soaps and shampoos, local chocolate treats, radiant heat floors, and on and on! The cottage has a lovely kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator, and microwave. There is an outdoor table where you can sit out and enjoy the natural peace of the surrounding area. Hearing the wolves howling at night was great. I ordered wine from Nissley Vineyards and the romance package with flowers and chocolate. Dawn was a perfectionist and helped make sure that every detail of my special weekend was done right. Dawns homemade breakfast creations were divine. Consider Speedwell Forge B&B for your romantic getaway! Dawn will insure that your stay and your experience will be perfect!

Dawn did a wonderful job with the restoration of the house. Our room and common areas were very clean and wonderfully decorated. Breakfast was delicious. Dawn made us feel right at home throughout our entire stay. We also were able to visit the wolves while on property. What beautiful and awesome animals they are. We will be back again.

We had taken my friend to the Speedwell Forge B&B and it was simply amazing!. We felt right at home immediately. We stayed in the Summer Kitchen Cottage that is located right behind the main mansion. The cottage was simply put amazing. Decorated with the theme of the Speedwell's main goal the preservation of wolves. The food served for breakfast was a journey of pure delight for our taste buds. The owners were so accommodating. The wolves that you get to see so close up are such a wonder to behold and we were reminded that these amazing creatures are such a vital part to mother nature. This was our first trip to the forge it will not be our last.

All round outstanding property and service. Recently restored rooms are sympathetically furnished and spotless. Even the smallest room has comfortable bed, hanging storage and bathroom with underfloor heating - also have access to main rooms of the house, fridge and tea making facilities so excellent value. Had previously stayed in Summer Kitchen which was lovely. Also took advantage of complimentary access to Wolf Sanctuary tour.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful property. The Whyte House cottage is both spacious and cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook ourselves dinner and just enjoy a quiet evening. We were also served a delicious breakfast and the owners were willing to take the time to share with us some of the history of the mansion and the wolf sanctuary. Either would have been worth the trip to see and experience. Brian & Kelley, NJ

We stayed at the Paymaster’s Office for one night and it was wonderful. The B&B is in middle of the nature and we enjoyed the walk through the wolf sanctuary where we could see the wolfs and hybrids. The climax was the couples massage! We will be back for sure.

I will make this short and sweet. It's a beautiful, much loved and cared for house. The hosts were friendly and informative, and the wolf sanctuary is a real labor of love. Breakfast was tasty, the Kathryn room lovely ( thanks Grandma Kathryn for turning on the fireplace) and the wolf song inspiring. We have been to many b&b's in our travels. This is a great one.

My husband and I received a gift certificate for the Speedwell and we finally had the opportunity to redeem it. We booked the Paymasters Office/suite. We took advantage of the tour at the wolf sanctuary (which was great) before we checked in. We actually got there early and Dawn, the innkeeper, was kind enough to let us get in our room before check in time! The room was amazing....it is beautiful, cozy, inviting and honestly was the cleanest room I have ever had in a B&B or hotel. It was spotless! We ordered a basket of goodies which had warm fresh baked bread and brownies along with other tasty items. The bread was soooo good! We highly recommend this property. The setting is gorgeous, the rooms and the mansion are lovely and the breakfast prepared by Dawn was incredible. Dawn and her husband Darin are wonderful hosts.

We spent two nights in the Summer Kitchen cottage at Speedwell Forge B&B just before Christmas. A light snow added the perfect touch to this lovely bed and breakfast. The cottage was well-appointed and totally spotless! Good thing Dawn provided us with non-slip cozy socks. The beautifully refinished floors could have been slippery without them. Work up an appetite for breakfast! Outstanding and you certainly won't go away hungry. Everything homemade and delicious! The wolf sanctuary was incredible. Both the guides and Dawn provided us with so much information. Fascinating for sure and wonderful that these people do such a great job taking care of these animals. Lots to do in the area. Lititz is a delightful town any time of the year, but especially so during the holiday season.

Our second visit to Speedwell Forge was as magical as the first. You, too, will not forget your stay and yearn to return soon. This is an experience not to be missed: a beautiful historic home, lovely grounds to clear your mind, and over 40 rescued wolves that will steal your heart (and even more if you chance to hear them howl). One hint: Try to schedule your visit so that you can take one of the public tours during your stay. You'll learn a lot about each wolf, which will make your walks among them later on more enjoyable.

We came as an anniversary trip. This has been by far the best b&b we have Ever been to. We had gotten the paymaster's suite and it was a dream! Super clean, shower products and the like are eco friendly, something that's Important to both of us. Before the sun went down we were able to walk Around the wolf enclosure, right before we left out of the blue all the wolves started Howling. All parts in the room were really well thought out, then the night outside Was just beautiful! Breakfast came around and Dawn was just out of this world in her Cooking, hospitality and conversation. Completely fabulous! Ended out stay with a group tour. Can't recommend this place more!

Another great plus is the wolf sanctuary, what great job the staff does in caring for these majestic animals. Mike & Sherry Jonestown, PA

Our main purpose was to spend some time with the wolves in the sanctuary so we presented each other with this stay for our 54th wedding anniversary. In the late afternoon after arriving we strolled about the lower-level enclosures to watch their behavior as they were fed. Just after sundown we sat on one of the benches and were treated by a legato choral fugue begun by an alto and then joined, in succession, by baritone and bass finally topped off with a soprano descant of yips and yowls. What perfect harmony! Upon retiring we found the room to be provided with every possible comfort, particularly steam heat and mattresses. We were impressed by the quality of the fixtures and the general quality of the restoration of the Inn. Innkeeper Dawn's Grandma whould be quite favorably impressed. Morning brought a superb multiple-course breakfast prepared and served by Dawn with a uniquely tasty first course of homemade granola. Innkeeper Darren then introduced us to their sociable pet, Faelin, a mix of dog, wolf and coyote. We spent the rest of the morning revisiting the wolves and conversing with Dawn and Darren. We found we were kindred spirits in may ways.

The house is beautifully renovated to feel like the eighteenth century home it is, while having modern luxuries as well. I felt completely comfortable and at home. The friendly proprietor, Dawn, caters to all dietary requirements in great style; breakfast was exceptional. A very quiet rural setting and on-site wolf sanctuary made our stay extra special.
5 on November 20, 2013
The ambiance of the B&B is calming and relaxing. The grounds and buildings are what everyone would expect if they were living in 1760. The high point of our stay at the B&B is the ability to tour the various wolf packs that have been rescued. They are magnificent creatures and we felt a connection with them each time we visited them.

As my first stay at a B&B this was a very enjoyable experience! Rooms, service, value, cleanliness and dining were exceptional and conversations with the owners were very educational and enjoyable. What I most enjoyed about Speedwell B&B and the reason I will definitely be returning is the owner's love for wolves which shows in how they run the Wolf Sanctuary surrounding the Inn and cottages. Hopefully sharing my experience will help other wolf lovers to find & enjoy this delightfully cozy B&B! Kay Riley

Stayed here on their Wolf Awareness weekend in October and it was wonderful. The rooms are warm and inviting and the 3-course breakfast is always amazing. The host has no problem accommodating special diets and I'm sure the other guests don't even realize the delicious food was prepared to work around a guest's dietary issues. Love the B&B and love the wolves. WIll be going back soon!

Speedwell Forge B&B is the best B&B ever, and I have stayed at several superb B&B's over the years in Pennsylvania, New Orleans, Virginia, New York, Maryland, and California. Listening to the wolves howling together in harmony was the magical finishing touch to our 14th wedding anniversary celebration. Also thank you for accommodating my special diet with gourmet gluten-free, vegan, and soy-free breakfasts each morning. Speedwell Forge B&B offers rooms in an old stone house and two old stone outbuildings, all beautifully renovated and restored. We stayed here two nights in the Summer Kitchen suite and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is rural so we were able to see the Milky Way and more stars than one usually sees. The breakfast was delicious and the other guests interesting. A major highlight is the Wolf Sanctuary; I never thought I would be able to see wolves up close. They do a wonderful job of educating visitors about wolves and of caring for the wolves that would otherwise be destroyed. We plan to stay here again and also to donate money to the Sanctuary.

This is a wonderful old house. Our room was in a refurbished out building and was finished and furnished to a high standard. I particularly liked the Jacuzzi bath. Dawn provided an excellent, if unusual, home cooked, gluten free breakfast with ample supplies of tea and coffee on tap. The highlight of our one day stay was the fact that we could walk around the large garden and adjoining wolf sanctuary. We visited the wolf enclosures on the evening of our arrival and then again in the early morning and then again on the 10 am tour. It was so lovely to see these beautiful animals close up and hear them howl ! The tour was very informative and rounded off our stay nicely. This is an excellent place to stay and a good base from which to see Lititz which is a charming little town. We will visit again. Thank you for a great stay.

This was our second stay at the Speedwell Forge B and B. It is a beautiful building in a lovely location. The owner is very helpful giving information about the local town and places to eat. Rooms were well presented and clean with lots of character. Catered without any problems for a gluten free diet. Included tour of wolf sanctuary. A unique and exciting place to stay.

This was my first time staying at a B&B, and I was very impressed. I would recommend Speedwell Forge B&B to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in the country. And if you are looking for a unique experience, the wolves are an added bonus. You can go visit them at your leisure (as long as it's not dark out.) The house, property, and rooms were beautiful. Breakfast was delicious and very filling! At breakfast, Dawn gave us an education on the wolves and some advice on where to visit in the surrounding area. She made us feel very welcome, like we were right at home there. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you are in the area!

We have been at Speedwell Forge B & B three times now. Each time is more special than the last. The warmth of the home & hosts draw us back. We are grateful for all they give and all that we receive on our brief overnight stays. We cannot say enough about it. Ginny & Ron.

Where to begin, everything about our stay was fantastic from the food to the location to the accommodations! Our hostess Dawn did everything possible to make our stay a memorable one and certainly accomplished that. The 3 course breakfast is homemade and the care that goes into it is as good as you would get in a five star hotel. The wolves are not to be missed and we recommend a pre-scheduled private tour. If you love wildlife the cost of a private tour is minimal compared to the opportunity to learn about the wolves. If you are looking for a quiet, restful and scenic place to stay do not miss this one!
4.4 on August 20, 2013
Speedwell Forge was just what we wanted: a private and lovely place where we felt well cared for. I don't know when I have slept and eaten so well away from home! Having the wolves on site was an added bonus.

Great country setting, quiet and peaceful. Room was very clean and owner was kind and accommodating to our needs. Enjoyed a good breakfast and an educational tour of the Wolf Sanctuary.

This was a really fantastic visit. My boyfriend and I only got to stay one night but it was fantastic, our room had this AMAZING bath tub and a great video selection. Something for everyone and all of the classics, they even had a yoga series on video. Breakfast the next morning was also fantastic, three courses and all made right there, the berries and cream had real cream and everything. I could tell that so much thought and care went into every detail of the rooms and cottages there, it was such a special experience.

This was the first time we stayed in a bed and breakfast. We loved it. We stayed in the Summer Kitchen Cottage. Breakfast was great, the cottage was beautiful. The experience as a whole was very relaxing. We enjoyed the Wolf Sanctuary at the back of the property. We've already talked about going back.
5 on August 05, 2013
Beautiful property and B & B. The home is beautifully restored and maintains it's original character but offers modern conveniences. Several cottages on property to stay in if you do not want to stay in the main house. A quiet relaxing setting. A bonus was the Wolf Sanctuary in which all guests could tour the grounds.
4.4 on August 05, 2013
Dawn was very pleasant and welcoming. We were only there one night but we did not feel like a guest, more like family. My grandson was thrilled to see about a dozen wolves. If you stay you will not be disappointed.
5 on August 04, 2013
I booked the Summer Kitchen at Speedwell Forge for my husband & I to celebrate our anniversary. We were on a trip with our son, so the Summer Kitchen had just enough privacy with the daybed downstairs and the queen bed upstairs. The Jacuzzi was clean and they even provided shampoo, soap, lotion & conditioner which was an added bonus. There was also a TV & wireless internet access for modern convenience, but we didn't use the internet - really experienced a "getaway." The food was excellent - best waffles I've had in a long time. Dawn made a gourmet granola and my son raved about the poached pears. The B&B is just up the lane from the Wolf Sanctuary which was fun as well. I would recommend anyone in the area who just wants to get away from it all to stay here. We only stayed for one day - wish it was longer!

We had a great visit. This was our third time and we will be back. Everything was great including the breakfast. We stayed in the Paymaster's Office. Beautifully restored buildings and grounds.

This house is beautifully renovated. There is a wonderful wooden floor and you have to enjoy yourself. I regret, that I could stay just one night. The breakfast was excellent.

We wanted to get away for a night and our expectations were far exceeded. The addition of the wolf sanctuary is a value beyond comparison. Darin and Dawn made us feel like family and so did the wolves. We didn't want to leave.

My family enjoyed our two night stay at Speedwell Forge. The Farmhouse was beautifully renovated the service and breakfas was great.
5 on July 02, 2013
turns out that was only part of this delightful experience. The hosts were top notch, the B&B also, the volunteers were friendly, caring, and informative, the property with its history was an outdoor lovers' pleasure. We will be back, maybe next time in the winter.

Many years ago, we stayed in Catherine's room at Speedwell and we had a wonderful time. This year we stayed in Bill's room. It is smaller and not as well appointed as Catherine's room, but we knew that going in. It was wonderful! It was cozy, the view was quite pretty, and it was fairly quiet. Darlene is exceptionally friendly and helpful and she is an AMAZING cook. Her breakfasts alone are worth the stay, and then there's the free entrance to the Wolf Sanctuary! What gorgeous animals!
5 on June 27, 2013
We had a very enjoyable stay with Dawn Darin and the wolves. The food was delicious and Dawn went out of her way to find me some goats milk. The wolves are wonderful and the staff are wonderful in caring for them. We would definitely stay theremagain if the opportunity occurs.
5 on June 26, 2013
This is one of the best B & B's I have stayed in. The B & B and the grounds were absolutely beautiful. The owners treat you as friends staying, not guests. The service is excellent, and the Wolf Sanctuary is an added bonus that is not to be missed. They are amazing. A must stay!

Speedwell Forge is located in a very nice country setting on a 122 acre sanctuary. The beautifully restored historical stone mansion is something to see and is simply immaculate. The owners are friendly very personable people and go out of their way to see that you have everything that you want. The three course breakfast is delicious and definitely will exceed you expectations. You can picnic on the grounds to experience a most peaceful relaxing evening. Speedwell Forge is truly a sanctuary to all. Many thanks to the owners for sharing such a lovely home. Words cannot express the appreciation you will have for this place!

Nice quiet old historic house. Dawn was very welcoming. We very much enjoyed the wolf tour the following morning, which was our 1 yr wedding anniversary. Breakfast was very good and filling.
5 on June 17, 2013
We had the best stay ever at a B&B this past week. Dawn, Darren and the crew were so accomadating to every need. The house and surronding buildings were amazing, and it was great to here all the history. The wolf sanctuary was the reason we went. The tour and information given was such an eye opener to the challenges that are faced on a daily basis, as well as all the things they have learned caring for the wolves. We loved the whole experience, and would recommend it to anyone.
4.8 on June 11, 2013
Speedwell Forge is an amazing B & B. Every part of the house was clean and well kept. The rooms look exactly like the pictures on the website! Dawn seves a three-course, homemade breakfast every morning. The grounds of the B & B are spacious and beautiful. A bonus of staying at the B & B is that the Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania is on the property, so you can visit the wolves during non-tour times and you can hear the wolves howl in the evenings - amazing! I enjoyed my stay very much and am already planning my next visit.
5 on June 10, 2013
Speedwell Forge B+B is out of this world. I have rarely felt such a sense of calm and peacefulness, and I know it's not mere coincidence; rather, it's the result of the hard work, a careful attention to detail, and the atmosphere of care Dawn and Darin have created. You cannot help but feel at ease. Picture this: sitting outside in the evening with a glass of wine, the sun setting over the hills, talking casually with the other guests, and off in the distance, the wolves begin howling their ghostly song. Doesn't get much better. I could eat Dawn's cooking forever, but alas, it's not a Bed and Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner (can't fault it that!). Nonetheless, there are many places to go for later-in-the-day fare in nearby Lititz, the "coolest small town in the America." I will be back, hopefully many times in the years to come. You should go too.
5 on June 07, 2013
From the moment we arrived we were impressed with this B&B. It is a lovingly restored farmhouse and meticously maintained. Innkeepers Dawn and Darren are happy to share the experiences of restoring the property and info about the wolf sanctuary on the property. By all means don't miss walking among the wolves (well, ok, there is a fence between you and them)! It is well wortth going out of your way to stay here. And, if you go, do not skip breakfast. The two we were there for we're excellent.

Speewell Forge B&B is am amazing place. This B&B is probably the cleanest B&B my husband have ever stayed in.....and we have stayed in many. The delicious breakfast is a first star meal served in proper china. Dawn is an excellent chef. From her homemade granola to the special coffee blend.....you will eat well. The mansion is a quaintly decorated......not over the top but comfortable and spotlessly clean. Landscaping is lovely. Beautiful trees and the wolf sanctuary right there makes Speedwell Forge a prefect place to relax and soak up nature.....especially when they all make music together......the howling is beautiful. When we are in Lancaster we only stay at Speedwell Forge.
5 on May 26, 2013
We stayed in the paymasters cottage which was very cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. Dawn cooked us delicious breakfasts every morning and made us very welcome. Our experiences with the wolves was amazing and eye opening. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Trisha and Mal. Melbourne Australia.

Accomodations are beautiful, and the learning about and seeing the wolves was fascinating. It was something I always wanted to do and was not disappointed!
5 on May 24, 2013
Dawn and her team are amazing! They make you feel like friends coming for a visit. We stayed in the Paymasters Office, it was such a romantic get away for us. To sit in the evening and hear the wolves howl is magical. It was so perfect that we booked a room in the house for one of the full moon events and booked the other cabin for my birthday weekend! We will return over and over again!

Everything was great hear. Gorgeously restored cottage with lots of attention to details to make stay enjoyable. Friendly staff, beautiful setting with the creek, woods and fields and the wonderful wolves. Main house also beautifully done. Tasty food to fit all dietary needs and Dawn goes out of her way to make unique menus for the guests.. Happy to support such a great place. Definitely going back

My husband, and I drove up for an overnight stay for my birthday. My only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer! Dawn, and Darren are always wonderful hosts. We had granola, a delicious (baked?) apple, and egg pie for breakfast. Our room (Bill's room) was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The wolves (as always) were so beautiful, and I was lucky enough to get a good view of my favorite wolf Friday, and also got to see some of the volunteers interacting with Merlin's pack. I can't wait until we are able to come back again!

We stay at quite a few B&B's, and we don't know how we can top the visit we had at Speedwell's Paymaster suite, absolutely had a wonderful time.
5 on May 08, 2013
Speedwell Forge was over all a fantastic place to stay! From the beautiful grounds and scenery to the four legged friends, gorgeous room, wonderful inn keepers, and delicious breakfast! This was an all-around treat! So happy we decided to stay here for our 2 year anniversary! We will be going back again :)
3.8 on May 06, 2013
This B&B met my expectations. The room was comfortable and it was extremely clean. The Wolves were an added bonus that gave you something additional to do. They offer guided tours to the public which you can also go on, but you are free to roam the preserve at your leisure when there isn't a tour going on which was so nice! If you want to go on the tour, you have to go to the gift shop and purchase your own tickets, which is my only complaint (if you want to call it that). The B&B didn't arrange this for us. They told us to go to the shop, pay, and put our names on the list. I just feel like they should have done this for us so that we didn't have to worry about it. But other than that - it was FANTASTIC. I would certainly go back.

breakfast and seeing the wolves were the best
4.2 on May 02, 2013
Nestled in the hills of Lancaster County, the Speedwell Forge B&B is also home to the Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania. That may sounds like an odd pairing, but there is something very tranquil and spiritual about both the historical Forge and the Wolf Sanctuary. If you are an animal lover or a lover of nature, the experience of the wolf tour is not to be missed. And guests at the B&B can roam the preserve during daylight hours at their leisure. We stayed at the Paymaster's Suite, which was nothing short of exquisite. With vaulted ceilings, a kitchenette, gas fireplace, whirlpool tub, and king-size bed, what else could one ask for? Complimentary breakfast was a multi-course event, and hostess and resident cook Dawn Darlington was a fascinating conersationalist. The Forge and Wolf Sanctuary in their present state are the result of her vision, and visiting both is an experience not to be missed.

Wonderful setting, people, service, food, room, and ambiance--add to this their proximity to the wolf sanctuary and knowledge of wolves and the result is a stay that begs to be repeated. I'm looking forward to next time. ~ Merle

First time at a B & B, wonderful and relaxing experience. Excellent breakfast!
4.6 on April 22, 2013
We went here for our honeymoon and it was fantastic staying in the Paymasters Suite. Giant jacuzzi tub, large shower, fireplace next to the king sized bed...It was all lovely. In a privite little cabin in a beautiful setting right on a wolf sanctuary (which sadly we didnt have time to explore-this time! And it was all kept clean by a very thourough chambermaid. The only reason I marked the dining as a three is because we never got a chance to eat breakfast at the main house because we always slept in too late, and if you are there at dinner time instead of exploring another surrounding town it will probably take atleast half an hour to get to a restaurant, cuz the mini fridge doesnt hold much. But overall the entire experience was wonderful and I can't wait to go back, and I've been recommending it to everyone I know :)
5 on April 20, 2013
We enjoyed our stay at Speedwell Forge B & B very much. The room was very nice, neat and clean. Dawn was a wonderful hostess and the breakfast was great. We especially enjoyed the tour of the wolf sanctuary. We plan on visiting this B & B again.
5 on April 19, 2013
This was an outstanding mini vacation. The B&B is beautiful, the wolves are phenomenal and I would highly recommend taking a trip to visit Speedwell. Dawn and Darin are welcoming and friendly and volunteers at the sanctuary are extremely knowledgable. I can't say enough, we will definetly return!

The B & B owners support displaced wolves. Lovely home, kind hosts, wonderful food and a super, secluded setting.
5 on April 08, 2013
This was our fifth stay at Speedwell (our second in Kathryn's Room) and once again we loved every minute and are already contemplating a return visit. My wife and I have stayed in approximately 20 bed and breakfast inns from Maine to Georgia and Speedwell ranks at the top of the list of our personal favorites. Dawn and Darin always welcome us to the mansion as if we are family, the breakfasts always fantastic, the inn immaculately kept, and our every need attended to....and of course there are the wolves.... be sure to visit the sanctuary and see those beautiful animals (we caught the Full Moon Tour this time-highly recommended).

Speedwell Forge B&B is conveniently located to dozens of popular destinations in the area northwest of Lancaster. My wife and I stayed three nights in the Paymasters Cottage and had an absolutely wonderful visit. The Cottage and House have been carefully and lovingly restored. The rooms and house are immaculate and exude inviting warmth. The Paymasters Cottage kitchenette is spotless and is cleaned daily if you should choose to cook on the 2 burner stove or use the microwave (no oven). The floor and walls of the bedroom are an elegant wood finish. Tall windows have light blocking wood shades. The walls are very thick stone and the roof is slate. This makes for a very quiet stay. Little can be heard other than the slight whir of an air handler could be heard - even during windy nights (no rattles!). We enjoyed using the gas fireplace -- it added ambience and warmth. The in-room tub/spa is great for soaking. The tub and bathroom were immaculately clean - like new! We chose to breakfast in the main house rather than use the kitchenette. The innkeeper is a great cook and surprised us with a different 3 course menu each morning. Breakfast courses were beautifully presented on lovely plates. Our morning chats with the innkeeper and her husband made breakfast more enjoyable for us both. The onsite Wolf Preserve is open to the public a few hours each week. Although cars passed by the cottage, we hardly heard anything. And No, wolves howling did not keep us up at night! If you are looking for a relaxing stay away from town, in a charming and well-restored home, immaculate rooms, and gracious hosts -- we highly recommend Speedwell B&B. We will definitely consider going back again.
5 on March 27, 2013
My sister and I had a quick overnight stop here, but what a find! The home has been beautifully restored, the rooms were lovely and perhaps the cleanest of anywhere I've stayed. Breakfast was delicious and Dawn was an extremely gracious host. Lititz is a short drive away with lots of shops and really good restaurants.
3.8 on March 26, 2013
Just a few suggestions-- when advertising a 3 course breakfast I believe guests anticipate something a bit more substantial--would consider an option with meat and eggs in addition to granola and fruit.
Thank you for your input on the first two courses. I wonder did you miss the third? We cater to vegans, vegetarians, food lifestyles and dietary restrictions, but we are always happy to serve meat if asked. In fact we do it sometimes without being asked. We have had many a happy carnivore and paleo here as well. Primal fitness for mind, body and soul. Don't be bashful, speak up before breakfast and let me know while you are here or even better when you make your reservation. :) Truly we aim to please. Blessings,
- Dawn (innkeeper)

We arrived early. The air around the place was so still; something we weren't accustomed to coming from the suburbs of Philly. Then all of a sudden, from the distance we heard one thin howl as though being welcomed to the establishment. We weren't really sure we heard it or if we had just imagined it until another plaintiff howl responded in kind. We knew for sure we'd heard the first and had no doubts we were in the right place. Next, we were escorted to the door by a purrrfectly black cat. Fitting in these surroundings. As I was welcomed into the warmth of entry foyer, the cat stopped knowing he could go no further though I didn't and kept trying to encourage him to come in. I was told he knew better by the owner of the B&B. The place just wrapped us in it's warmth and welcomed us to it's intent for educating and protecting the wolves while offering a sanctuary for us from our every day hustle and bustle. What a weekend we spent with dear friends we met up with from Maryland! Thank you for such a spectacular and enlightening time! It was our 1st and definitely will not be our last! Darvin
Thank you so much for sharing your arrival to the property. Scrappy (the cat) adores our guests. Or should I say his guests. :) Namaste.

This is a treat of a B&B to stay at. Review is for a late winter stay. This is an 1800s family home that has been completely redone to perfection. Owner Dawn is a wonderful host and makes sure you have everything you need. Her breakfast is wonderfully tasty, ample, and has a touch of culinary finesse. Dinners in Lititz are a bit of a hike but not an unreasonable drive. Speedwell Forge has a wolf sanctuary that we did not have a chance to visit but we will return to take advantage of this unique extra. If I were traveling to the Lancaster region I would chose Speedwell Forge over any other. The room tariff is right priced for what you get. Thanks Dawn!

A charming and clean B&B, perfect for a busy couple to relax and "unplug" from life. I would recommend staying in the Paymaster's Office. It is a beautiful building from the 1700's, but fully renovated with all the comforts and amenities of modern life. Julianna & Joe (2013)
5 on March 13, 2013
The Speedwell is absolutely beautiful! We stayed in the "Summer Kitchen," a two story stone cottage directly behind the main house. The attention to every little detail, as well as, the cleanliness was amazing (chocolates, candles, robes, brochures for local attractions, etc). Breakfast was three courses and fit for a King. In addition to this stunning B&B you have the Wolf Sanctuary, which as a guest you get to roam about freely. I can not say enough about this wonderful destination. Dawn you did a great job!

This is the best place we have ever stayed! The only trip my husband has eer said he would want to repeat in its entirety the whole way through again! Breakfast was AMAZING!!! We had waffles and pears and oats so delicious! We will be returning maybe in december for my husbands birthday we shall see!

My husband and I stayed in the Summer Kitchen Cottage for my 30th birthday. Within one hour of check-in, we were able to see all the wolves on a self-guided tour of the sanctuary and, in the marshland next to the mansion, we saw 5 white tail deer just running free. Dawn and Darren were excellent hosts, and very interesting to talk to. You could see the love they had, not only for the wolves, but also the historical importance of the property. Dawn told us how much she loves cooking, and it shows. Breakfasts were wonderful! A tantalizing combination of fresh fruit and home made concoctions, we were spoiled with home made breakfast fare. The cottage was so clean and beautiful with fresh linens, and flowers. All the amenities of home, in a sweet and tastefully decorated cottage. I would highly recommend the Speedwell Forge Bed and Breakfast to any one looking for a get-away.

Our stay was over Valentine's Day weekend to just get away for a little bit. I didn't know what to expect... All I have to say is wow! Everything was fabulous! The wolves were incredible! Breakfast was delicious! Our personal chef was great as well! Looking forward to our next stay!

We stayed for five nights in Bill's Room and really enjoyed our stay. Normally I am hesitant to stay in B&Bs because I like the anonimity and privacy that hotels afford. However the Wolf Sanctuary won me over and my less picky hubby was thrilled. The rooms are SPOTLESS! Cleanliness is my hot button and Speedwell was perfect. The renovation work is very, very well done and the rooms are not cutesy as so many B&Bs are. Nor are the rooms done so formally as to make you uncomfortable. The balance of formality and comfort is great. Dawn makes a wonderful breakfast - so good in fact that it made the breakfast in next B&B we stayed in unappealing. She noticed that I did not eat everything the first morning (couldn't!) and adjusted portions for subsequent breakfasts. Breakfast was a great opportunity to meet other guests. However unlike other B&Bs you felt like you had privacy when you wanted it. The Wolf Sanctuary is wonderful and worth the visit even if you cannot stay the night. Bill's Room is small but we really enjoyed it - the view is fantastic and it feels very private. The bathroom is bright and clean - 200+ old pine floors with new fixtures and plentiful soft, fluffy towels. We will definitley be back in during the Spring or Summer time. Winter is gorgeous but we want to come back when eveything is in bloom. Be prepared to wear slippers while in the house - the floors are very old soft pine and combined with snow and mud from the Sanctuary cannot take the abuse. But they have some for you to use if need them. Dawn and Darren have done a wonderful job with Speedwell - you will not be disappointed.

We just spent 5 nights here as an anniversary treat to ourselves. Dawn makes the most amazing three course breakfast every single morning and is a wonderful hostess. The cottage we stayed in (Summer Kitchen) was so cozy and comfortable and we were well cared for throughout our stay. A visit to meet the wolves was a really fun addition to our stay.

My stay was mystical and magical. I was there during the full moon celebration and the wolves were gorgeous with their winter coats. The Inn Keeper and volunteers were all very kind and welcoming. The rooms were enchanting and elegant. It felt like something out of a fairytale. I would definitely love to go back.

Did I mention the wolves on the property??? Wolf Sanctuary of PA is located here too and is owned and operated by the B&B owner too. She's a busy girl but takes time out to visit and chat. We WILL be going back soon!

This weekend was a surprise birthday gift for my husband. He has been fascinated with wolves and what better place to observe them than the Speedwell Forge B&B on the property of the Wolf Sanctuary. The lodging was perfect; all was clean; the amenities such as the fireplace, sauna tub and equipped kitchen all added to our enjoyment. The breakfasts serves were mouth watering and Dawn was a superior hostess/innkeeper.

The B and B was an outstanding experience. We enjoyed the warm comfy bed, the 2-person claw foot whirlpool tub, the dinner basket we paid extra for was delicious, and a complimentary walk in the wolf sanctuary the next morning was uplifting.

Dawn is a wonderful host and every year my wife and I look forward to spending a day or two relaxing and enjoying the peaceful setting. Breakfast is always excellent!

We were impressed with the B&B and enjoyed hearing the choir of wolves. Well worth the trip. We will be back.

My husband and I stayed for one night at this B&B. We had a delightful visit and would highly recommend this inn. It is a beautifully restore old stone house and Dawn was a very gracious, warm host. The breakfast was excellent and the wine and beer offered in the evening was perfect! Visiting the wolf sanctuary right on the grounds was wonderful! There also is a park across the street with a lovely hiking trail. We would highly recommend this B&B and hope to visit again in the future.
5 on January 02, 2013
The house is amazing!! Dawn did a fabulous job on the complete restoration of it. The breakfast was fantastic, I didn't need to eat for a couple days after that! The best thing about staying there is being able to wander around observing all of the wolves. The wolves are incredible! They look so healthy and happy!!! All the volunteers that I met during the wolf tour were so friendly, knowledgeable, and genuine. I will definitely be back multiple times a year!

My stay at the Speedwell Forge B&B was amazing!!! It's the cleanest place I have ever seen!!! And the staff are wonderful!!!! The house is gorgeous, historic, and the food is delicious!!! I also spent time with the wolves of the sanctuary. I highly recommend Speedwell for a serene retreat in the beautiful countryside of PA.
5 on December 10, 2012
Had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute. The breakfast was great and the house and grounds were beautiful. We thoughouly enjoyed spending time with the wolves. It was so exciting when they all would start howling at one time. The whole time we were there was a totally pleasant experience and will not hesitate to go back. Dawn is a wonderful innkeeper and host.
5 on December 01, 2012
We were warmly greeted when we first arrived, it made us feel very relaxed and comfortable. The room was very spacious and thoroughly cleaned. Breakfast each morning was amazing! Dawn is a fantastic chef and hostess. This is a wonderful place to stay if you are looking for a quiet get away. We have already recommended this to our family and friends!
4.6 on November 28, 2012
The B and B was great, and the wolf sanctuary is a must-see. I can't wait to go back. The breakfast at the B and B was great, but lunch and dinner at restaurants in the area ranged from terrible to average at best.
5 on November 26, 2012
My stay here was absolutely wonderful. Peaceful, quiet, delicious food, friendly innkeepers, magnificent natural environment. The dedication to preserve history in order to share it with others is laudable; the personal devotion to caring for wildlife stirs in others the desire to do the same. I'll be back!
4.8 on November 24, 2012
The home and property are immaculate and maintained with great love and care.
5 on November 14, 2012
Everything about our stay at the Speedwell Forge B&B was outstanding! The home is beautifully restored and furnished, immaculate and comfortable. The owner is a delight and creates a memorable breakfast experience for you before you head out to the adjoining wolf sanctuary. We are already planning a return visit next month.

The room was beautiful, the breakfasts delicious, the service was warm and friendly and the wolves were fantastic. Very clean spacious room. Very romantic setting. Dawn and Darin were friendly and helpful. We loved the wolf tour and hearing them howl. I recommend the dinnerin bed option Chef Shuler was sooo friendly and the food was delicious and so filling. We came for 4 days for our anniversary and didn't want to leave.
5 on November 10, 2012
We had a wonderful stay for our honeymoon. The Paymaster's Office was a beautiful and cozy place to relax and unwind, the breakfasts were delicious, and hanging out with the wolves was awesome. Definitely ask Dawn if she'll make her apple waffles for you... yum!! Lititz was also a cute little town to walk around and had some great little cafes and restaurants. Definitely worth every penny. We've recommended the B&B to our parents for a weekend getaway of their own and we hope to stay there again for our first anniversary next year!
5 on October 24, 2012
We absolutely loved our stay at Speedwell Forge B&B. Dawn Darlington was the ultimate hostess, the place was spotlessly clean, the history of the place was intriguing, the grounds and the other buildings were fascinating, and the wolves were breathtaking. We had the time of our lives. Judy F.
5 on October 24, 2012
My husband and I stayed at Speedwell Forge for two nights in celebration of our 30th wedding anniversary. It was all we had hoped for and more; however, what impressed me most of all was the immaculate -- virtually spotless -- interior of the entire mansion and our room. Unbelievable -- easily the loveliest place we've ever stayed. The wolves were amazing, the food delicious, the scenery gorgeous. I can't say enough good things about Dawn and her staff.
4.2 on October 20, 2012
The B&B and the wolf sanctuary met and exceeded our expectations. The house and the grounds are beautiful, and it is obvious that the wolves are all well cared for and content. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. We hope to visit again soon! We'd been talking about visiting Speedwell Forge and the seeing the wolves for years. When we were finally able to coordinate our schedules with their vacancies, we were thrilled. O

We stayed at the Paymasters Office for two nights (mid-week) and it was absolutely wonderful. The best B&B experience we have ever had. We will definitely be back for another visit sooner than later. The fact that we were able to visit the wolf sanctuary whenever we wanted as a B&B guest, was an added bonus. Speedwell Forge B&B is the perfect getaway - relaxing, refreshing, peaceful, full of history, and very quiet except for the howling of the wolves, which can only be described as beautiful!

We had a wonderful stay... We are ready to book another stay in the early spring. Can't wait.
5 on October 05, 2012
The bed and breakfast was beautiful! An added bonus was having access to the wolf sanctuary and eating breakfast with the knowledgeable volunteers who staff the sanctuary.
3.8 on October 05, 2012
We had a terrific stay and wish we could have been there for more than 1 night. It was a beautiful property with very accommodating and friendly hosts. Staying in the cabin allowed us the privacy for a romantic escape while we still had the personal feel of a bed and breakfast. I can't wait until we can book another visit.
5 on September 30, 2012
Dawn is delightful! A deliciously prepared breakfast served in a beautiful setting...a peaceful, quiet home restored to its glory...communing with nature and the wolves, who wouldn't want to spend a weekend here! Go. You won't be disappointed. Plus, the quaint town of Litiz is fun to explore.
4.8 on September 22, 2012
Charming B&B. Clean, friendly service. Dawn made us feel at home. Wolves are magnificent, too.
5 on September 19, 2012
This is probably my favorite B&B of all time, and each stay seems to be better than the one before. The rooms are comfortable, the building is gorgeous. The fact that the proprietors also manage the PA Wolf Sanctuary is an obvious bonus. The food is delicious. If there was an option to rate it above five stars, I would. Whenever Dawn (the proprietor) says that she is trying a new recipe, I know we're in for a treat. She clearly takes delight in what she does. The property itself is an easy drive (10-15 minutes) from attractions such as Mt. Hope Estate and Winery (where the PA Ren Faire is held) and the town of Lititz (worth a visit just for the the Wilbur Chocolate Factory). If you just want a quiet getaway, this is also a perfect spot. Because of the stone used, the main house is virtually soundproof to outside noises. Check the Wolf Sanctuary calendar for tour dates/times and other events. Highly recommended all around!

Would highly recommend staying at the Speedwell Forge B&B. My husband & I had an amazing visit there. Dawn made you feel right at home and served a wonderful breakfast in the morning. We are looking forward to going back in the next year.

Even though we only live a couple miles away, it feels like another world. Spending tme with the wolves renews our souls.
5 on August 29, 2012
A very comfy, romantic getaway that allowed us to leave cares of life out of sight and mind as we enjoyed the pampering this room (the Paymaster) provides. Our repeat experience, as before, is as advertised on the website, and better! The location is hidden away in wooded northern Lancaster County, which adds to the relaxing pace. The inn keeper Dawn, makes a breakfast you don't want to miss!
4.8 on August 29, 2012
Hostess was gracious and conversational, rooms were clean and contained all the amenities, grounds were beuatifully maintained. The wolves were awesome (and quiet at night!).

Received a gift certificate from our children to Speedwell Forge B & B. They knew we would love it and they were so right!! From the time we pulled in the driveway from the time we checked out, it couldn't have been more perfect. We stayed in the Paymasters Cottage, it was simply gorgeous! The wolves were beautiful and the owner Dawn was so informative on them. We had breakfast at the main house in the morning, it was delicious! Dawn was very gracious with her hospitality and we plan to return again!! Would highly recommend this B & B if you want to relax and enjoy some quiet time!!
4.8 on August 22, 2012
great B&B, laid back and casual,we will be back. Spotless, great breakfasts, peace and quiet...what else could you need! The wolves are an amazing bonus. Talk to the inn keeper she knows facts that youd never guess...did you know wolves have to get permission to howl from the pacl leader?...that and so much more.

Speedwell Forge was very nice for my husband and I to take a little getaway but yet be close enough for any emergencies. The staff was very nice and friendly. Our room was very clean and cozy. The whole atmosphere inside and out was very welcoming and just gave you a relaxed feeling. We can not wait to book our next getaway with Speedwell Forge.
5 on August 17, 2012
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Summer Kitchen Cottage. It was nothing less than perfect. The cottage was my favorite part of the whole trip- it was large, pristine, all modern amenities (including a kitchen!) while retaining the charm of a B&B. Dawn was gracious and attentive throughout our stay. We will definitely return!
4.8 on August 15, 2012
If one is seeking solitude and beauty, do not hesitate to book a stay at Speedwell Forge. Dawn, the Innkeeper, is an affable individual, and the role of host suits her personality. Accommodations in her home are first-class, and she crafts breakfast from scratch, offering home-made granola, twists on French Toast, peppered with conversation on another topic close to her heart - the onsite wolf sanctuary. Visit Speedwell Forge for its tranquil beauty, its historical architecture and its worthwhile, heartfelt commitment to the wolf community.

We stayed in the Summer Kitchen cottage and it was perfect for my boyfriend and I having a relaxing little adventure with nearby attractions. The cottage, house, and grounds were gorgeous and Dawn and Darren were welcoming, informative, and great, fun people. We loved the soaking tub in the room and the chocolate filled pancakes! Seeing the wolves and what they do on the sanctuary was inspiring and just cool. Really beautiful place, great rooms, great people, unique and lovely.

Wonderful b&b. Stayed in a smallish room which was fine for overnight. Great breakfast and welcoming host. Would definitely return.
5 on August 03, 2012
The home was beautiful and they did an outstanding restoration to the interior. The rooms were spotless, breakfast was delicious, and the people were very friendly and informative whether we wanted to know where to eat dinner or wanted to learn all about the wolves. Seeing the wolves was amazing! This stay was on a road trip with my sister, but I can't wait to take my husband there.
4.4 on August 03, 2012
The tub in the Kitchen Suite was mag-wonderful! And so were Fritz and Scrappy, the greeter cats. And so were the magnificent wolves!!! And Dawn and Darrin are great hosts. We are in awe of the work they have done on the house...and on the sanctuary!
4.2 on July 31, 2012
We stayed in Bill's room. Enjoyed the wolf sanctuary tour and this was an important reason for our enjoyment of the place. It was nice that, unlike many B & Bs, we could not hear those in the rooms near us.
4.8 on July 30, 2012
Even with a vicious thunderstorm, and excessive heat, my stay was fascinating. The Inn was lovely, very peaceful and comfortable with a marvelous breakfast. The wolf sanctuary was, of course, intriquing. I plan on returning with friends, family etc. in the fall. Only one and a half hour easy drive from suburban Philadelphia. A wonderful experience.
5 on July 29, 2012
Speedwell Forge is beautiful and the proprietor made us feel welcomed and at home. The room was lovely and had all the tech amenities we would ask for including cable TV and a router in our room. The food was fresh, local and artfully prepared with care given to accommodate a special diet. We felt at ease using the common areas and the grounds were delightful. The presence of the wolves and their music completed an exceptional experience.
5 on July 21, 2012
This is a fabulous place! We stayed in the Paymaster's Suite and it was wonderful. The room was beautiful and so clean everything shined. The bridal ring quilt on the bed set a very romantic mood. We loved sitting in the jacuzzi and watching the fireflies one night after a thunderstorm. The breakfasts were wonderful. We enjoyed talking with the other guests and Dawn. The wolves were great, especially when they serenaded us when we went to see them early one morning. There are so many interesting places on the grounds to explore and take photographs of. We loved the cats and White Feather, their dog. It was inspiring to see all the work that Dawn and her husband have put into helping the wolves. We wish we could have stayed longer!
4.4 on July 17, 2012
The house was charming and the bedrooms were up-to-date but still maintained the historic charm. Dawn was informative and interesting to talk with. The Wolf Perserve was fascinating and slowed us down in a fast paced vacation. We will be back..

Beautiful room, amenities are average, it was difficult trying to even get extra towels/toilet paper etc., you can't wear your shoes ANYWHERE. Plan on eating breakfast with everyone staying at the B&B - there is no privacy regarding breakfast.
4.8 on July 05, 2012
Dawn was the most accommodating and gracious hostess, despite having to spend much of that day trying to create new fencing for the new addition to the Wolf Sanctuary. The accommodations were delightful. We are local and needed a quick getaway for our anniversary. We chose the Paymaster's Quarters and weren't disappointed. The wood in the entire room(s) was rich and inviting. Comfy bed, great bathroom, wonderful aroma of the bath soaps, etc. Bathrobes I wish I had at home. Great hot tub. Didn't use the kitchenette, but it was nice that it was there. Checked in on a late afternoon and then wandered down to the Wolf Sanctuary on the property. Didn't expect to see anything because it was so hot. Suddenly, one entire pack appeared out of the woods/grasses to check us out. What fun! Will be back, probably this time in the winter so that we can try out the lovely fireplace, get another homecooked breakfast from Dawn, and see her wolves in the winter landscape. Audrie and Bill

Originally we planned to go to Salem, MA, but it was going to be an overnight stay and planned with all the driving, it wouldn't work out. So last minute we decided to book the Speedwell Forge B&B, after seeing great reviews and originally wanting to go last year but never had the time, this was an easy choice. Dawn, the innkeeper was extremely accommodating, especially with our last minute reservation. The family was very welcome and we felt like we have known them for a long time! We stayed in the paymaster's office which is the room pictured. In a secluded cottage on the grounds very close to the Wolf Sanctuary which in fact is so beautiful, and a great perk. The bed was super comfy, the room included cable, wifi, a fireplace, a oversized jacuzzi tub and a big shower! We loved every minute of it and kept telling ourselves we want to stay longer. Located in amish country, but not the tourist trap area, very quiet and beautiful area. Dawn's breakfast was absolutely amazing! We will definitely come back another time!! Actually, we can't wait!!! Thank you Dawn and Dean + family for a memorable stay!

Restored, historical home is gorgeous. Grounds are secluded and well maintained. The tour of the Wolf Sanctuary is interesting and educational. Should not be missed- sign up even if you don't stay here. Dawn serves exquisite breakfasts and as a native of the area is quite helpful with local information. I would definitely stay here again.

My new wife and I selected Speedwell Forge as our honeymoon destination. It was perfect. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the wolves were beautiful and the rooms were beyond our expectations. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing getaway, a special romantic occasion, or just because you and your partner want some alone time. We are already working on plans to return for a longer stay.

This was a great time and chance to relax. We enjoyed everything about the stay, especially hanging out with the wolves. There are trails to walk and it is just a very comfortable place to be...

We reserved our room last minute after our usual B & B had some changes that we didn't like. We were very pleased with our choice. The breakfasts were excellant and filling. The area around the B & B was beautiful. The best part was the wolf sanctuary and the kitties. That was one reason we chose this B & B...the wolves. We are looking forward to spending another long weekend there...probably next fall.
5 on June 10, 2012
This is a beautiful B&B in a serene setting. The rooms are tastefully done and extremely clean. We enjoyed the elegant and nutritious breakfasts. Dawn and Darren made you feel at home and part of their family. Most certainly will return again.

Our stay in the Summer Kitchen was perfect. The furnishings were lovely and the accomodations were immaculate. My husband and I stayed comfortably with our two teenage daughters, one of whom is vegan. Dawn, the innkeeper didn't miss a beat when it came to her dietary needs. The food was delicious! As an added bonus, as if the centuries old mansion alone isn't enough, patrons staying at the B & B have the freedom to enjoying the Wolf Sanctuary on site at their leisure! If you have the opportunity, make it the trip! You won't reget it.

Very nice place with exceptional service by Dawn. Good location to see the sights of PA Dutch country and retreat to a serene place in the evenings. rooms were very nice and a great price. My husband and I truly enjoyed our anniversary get-away at Speedwell Forge B & B. We were greeted my our innkeeper, Dawn. She showed us around the mansion, which is a beautiful place that makes you feel like you are away from the world. The town of Lititz which is only about 15 minutes away is charming. The wolves were a fun extra for this B & B. I would highly recommend Speedwell Forge B & B. The breakfast was outstanding! We had an amazing time. Dawn was very nice and we enjoyed her telling us the history of the mansion. Hats off to this B & B!

It is worth the experience of stepping back in time and to visiting the wolf sanctuary on the grounds. The breakfast was above average.
4.8 on May 16, 2012
The B&B is located just outside of Lititz, PA on the grounds of The Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania. Rooms are located in a pre-Revolution stone farmhouse that has been lovingly and beautifully restored. There are two rooms that are renovated outbuildings, and these are very special. We stayed in the Summer Kitchen, also lovingly and beautifully restored, and it was a real treat. Besides the luxury amenities such as private Jacuzzi tubs, three course homemade breakfasts prepared by a self declared foodie with local/organic ingredients, and fresh, homemade cookies in the afternoon, there are the WOLVES. B&B guests have the luxury of access to the Wolf Sanctuary during times that there are not public tours/events, so observation of behavior/pack structure is much more available. The people who run this operation are down to earth, passionate, responsible, intelligent and accessible. We had a great weekend, and would recommend this retreat to anyone looking to do something different. The little town of Lititz is neat and tidy with some good food and people watching opportunities, there are plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities around, and Pennsylvania Dutch tourism is easily accessible, but if you're like us, you'll find you really just want to stay and hang out with the wolves.
5 on May 10, 2012

I just wish I lived closer so I could spend more time with all of you and get to know everyone better. We were there a couple of weeks ago and I miss the wolves terribly. Everything was wonderful-keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing you again. Thank you from Shirl and Joe and Hunter!

Would highly recommend. Aside from a bit of noise at night (if you're not used to old houses) we had a wonderful stay.

The best B&B ever! Dawn treated us like family. We enjoyed having complete access to the downstairs rooms; dining room, parlor, game room. Our room was cozy and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The atmosphere of the Inn and grounds was phenomenal! Our breakfast was outstanding! We cannot say enough about the wonderful time we had while at Speedwell Forge B&B and the The Wolf Sanctuary of PA!

This was our first experience at a B&B and we keep going back! Dawn is a gracious host and presents a welcoming atmosphere. She is also an expert with healthy foods and we look forward to every breakfast. Her special recipe of crepes for dessert one morning with fresh blueberries and currants was unforgettable! The beautifully restored historic home is impeccably clean. Its country setting is beautiful and quiet. A special bonus here is getting to see the rescued wolves just a few feet away at the adjoining sanctuary on the property. And, it’s an awesome experience to see them interact and hear them howl

Speedwell Forge is a perfect getaway-especially for someone who lives in the city or is starving for a little wildness. Being out in nature with the wolves, the whitetail deer, bald eagles, etc. is such a refreshing backrop to a much needed retreat. The food is amazing-and Dawn always accomodates any special dietary preferences. A place to visit again and again.

This was our second stay at Speedwell forge B & B, and it was just as wonderful as last year. This time we stayed in Katheryn's room. The lighting was wonderful, (beautiful views) and I never wanted to leave the whirl pool tub! Dawn is a wonderful hostess, and she always makes sure you feel right at home. Also the 3 course breakfasts were delicious! Dawn makes the best muffins I have ever had :) Of course another highlight was visiting with the wolves. They are so beautiful, and hearing them sing on our morning walks was a treat. I can not wait until we are able to visit again! On a side note, if you do visit (to the B & B- or just on a wolf tour) make sure to climb the steep hill to visit with Billy and Galahad, they are too wonderful to miss! Thank you Dawn and Darren for the wonderful stay, and everything you do for the wolves. Danielle and Bryan

We had the best time at Speedwell Forge B&B. The owners were great. The breakfasts were fantastic. Everything was homemade from scratch. The Paymasters Office was awsome. It was very romantic and private. We would definitely recommend this place to our family and friends. We will definitly be going back!! For anyone going, we highly recommend taking the Wolf Sanctury Tour.

Dawn made us feel like family staring over, explained in detail the history of the Inn, I would recommend to all to expierance the quiet and comfort we did. When our time came to say goodby a hug was given that was a first I was so touched by Dawn, all the time that is done to keep everything spotless, to here the wolf's howling was a treat I will treasure for a long time, plan on going back.

Time stood still for the weekend as we felt apart of another world. They have a special attraction with the "Wolf Sanctuary". It is really a unique place. Dawn, was a gracious host! All those who volunteer at the Sanctuary were very friendly and helpful. It is a place to return when the everyday world gets to be to much! Thank you :)

I sent my parents to Speedwell Forge for a weekend get-away as a Christmas Present. My parents came home GUSHING about how wonderful everything was. They LOVED Dawn & her husband, they both said that they have never felt more comfortable or welcome anywhere. Dawn was a sweetheart who really treated my parents like life long friends instead of just someone renting a room. The food was outstanding as I heard from my mom. The room they stayed in, Katherine's Room made them want to stay in all day. Dawn has thought of everything when revamping this gorgeous property. The bathroom floor tiles are even heated! I must say, if you go, visit the Speedwell Forge Wolf Reserve. My parents took the Full Moon Tour and had so much fun! I will definitely be sending my parents away for more weekends here...and my fiance and I are planning on staying a few nights soon as well. I can't say enough great things about this B&B. It is simply the best. Ignore any review that tells you otherwise!

My husband and I stayed in the Paymaster's Office at Speedwell Forge and it was every bit as beautiful as the pictures. It was spacious, yet cozy, very clean, and beautifully decorated. We opened the blinds on the back windows to a serene view of a stream with a deer walking quietly through. Breakfast was fantastic and the people who work there are so friendly. It couldn't have been a more perfect fit for us. We'll hopefully be back!

Speedwell Forge BnB is an amazing place. The property is gorgeous, rooms are well appointed and clean, and the proprietors are incredibly warm, kind people. Coupled with the wolf sanctuary on the property, it is an altogether magical experience.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Speedwell Forge and would recommend staying here for anyone interested in a relaxing, peaceful environment. The cleanliness of the place and the friendliness of the innkeeper was outstanding. We are anxiously awaiting our next adventure there!

This has to be one of the friendliest B&B we ever stad at. There is no doubt we will return to stay again. Good breakfest items, down home talking between owners and everyone almost like we were one of the family. My wife cryed when we visited the wolfs because they were so beautifull. We recommend this B&B to anybody.

Paymaster's Cottage was incredible. Dawn's three course breakfast in the mansion was unbelievable. She knows how to cook, entertain and she is just so delightful to be around. Be sure to include the Decadence Package. You will not regret spending the extra money, it was like going to heaven. We had a GREAT TIME!!! Don't forget the wolves. They helped us bring in the New Year by howling. We will never forget our weekend at Speedwell Forge B&B.

We have stayed several times at Speedwell Forge and in a different room each time. I don't know which is my favorite! Breakfast is fantastic, and you can't beat nights when the wolves start to howl. Beautiful.

Our stay at this wonderful B & B was a first for us. The location was gorgeous, the inn itself more than charming and the hosts were talented, warm, friendly and accomodating. Close to everyothing one could want to see and do with the added bonus of the wolf sanctuary right there on the property! Lovely time, will return!!
4.8 on December 21, 2011
The location & environment was great. Hospitality was more than friendly. You are treated as a friend of the family not just a guest. During tours the paymasters room is not private. It is a must do again & stay longer.

The Summer Kitchen Suite is beautiful! We loved the hardwood floors, the fireplace, the jacuzzi, the entire Suite..it was perfect. Dawn was very sweet and made a wonderful breakfast for us which we enjoyed while talking with another couple who were guests in the house. After breakfast we walked over to the Wolf Sanctuary which is absolutely incredible! One of the volunteers at the Sanctuary arrived and the wolves were so excited to see her they began howling, it was awesome. We definitely plan to stay at Speedwell Forge B&B again.

Dinner in the room with personal service from the chief was great. Breast fast was very good. Having the wolf preserve there was the best part. Nothing like listening to the wolves at night.
3.8 on December 09, 2011
The room was very clean, spacious, with a wonderful bathroom. The only complaint was the heating system, which was noisey and complicated. The service was outstanding, we were made to feel like a guest in someones home, it didn't feel like a b&b at all. The house is wonderful. The breakfast was amazing and the setting second to none, in the wolf sanctury. The only reason I have marked the room and value as "met my expectations" was because it wasn't cheap.
5 on December 05, 2011
Rooms were immaculate. Breakfast was great. Hostess was friendly. Stayed in boys room, good room with two beds. Would like to return to a suite with my husband. Wolf sanctuary was a plus. Close to Amish attractions.
5 on December 01, 2011
We arrived tired and left relaxed ready to meet new challenges. This is definitely in the "must stay there" category of American Bed and Breakfast locations. You will not find a better, more professional antibellum home restoration anywhere in the country. The innkeepers have somehow miraculously molded the modern comforts of today into each room of the house without losing the atmosphere of pre civil war days.A book being read in the peace and quiet of the parlor or the reading room is punctuated by the quietness of the countryside and the warmth of a crackling fire, and this is surely hard to duplicate. The morning begins pleasantly as you converse with other guests around a banquet table so eloquently set with antique china. The most delicious three course breakfast arrives excellently prepared by the Innkeeper herself and she enjoys participating in conversation if you like. The Innkeeper is eager to talk about the home's history and is quite knowedgable about the period of time during which it was built. If you want to visit the Pennsylvania Amish area, look up this place, you will not find more peaceful accomodations. Respectfully submitted by John & Wini Gay, Laurinburg, NC.

We love our little getaways to Lancaster County, and make it a point to stay and eat somewhere different each time. Speedwell is the best one so far. All the benefits of a B&B, plus the privacy of our own lovely cottage, just a few feet away from the main house. The Paymaster's Office shown in the picture was our chosen accommodation during our Thanksgiving getaway. The room was spacious with cathedral ceilings, the gas fireplace perfect, the king size bed comfortable, the jacuzzi a 5 foot deep one, the bathroom with shower was completely renovated and the separate fully equipped kitchenette with all the makings for morning coffee, a refrigerator and 2 burner stove mean you can completely removed yourself from the world if you choose. The lovingly restored main house has 3 guest rooms and there's another cottage they named the Summer Kitchen, and we may stay in that one next time. But what a treat! Yet another added benefit was just a few steps up the road, The Wolf Sanctuary. The walls of our cabin were very thick, so if we were inside, we didn't hear them, but if we happened to be outdoors, or later while meeting the wolves during our tour, we enjoyed their song. We highly recommend this lovely establishment together with the tour of the Wolf Sanctuary.

Stayed here with my husband for our 11th Anniversary and we were so happy with our stay. The house is off the beaten path and very private, set amid beautiful, secluded wilderness. It was such a treat! The Innkeeper is super friendly and helpful with any questions you have about the Inn, where to eat, helping with directions, etc.

This was our second stay at Speedwell Forge and it was as lovely as the first. My hubsand and I have stayed in many B&B's in our travels and I must tell you....this is THE cleanest b&B we have stayed in. Dawn is an amazing chef and hostess. The three course breakfasts alone are worth staying here. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are well appointed. But the wolves is what makes Speedwell Forge magical. Seeing the wolves so happy...playful...and very healthy brings tears to my eyes that there are people like Dawn and Darren who take so much pride and share so of their lives to care for these abandoned or injured animals. Too see these wild creatures right there.....you can hear them howl...see them play is just incredible. We are again for next year.....this we'll be there for the full moon tour.....so exciting!

I will be going back to Speedwell Forge, it was a great experience. The accomodations were fantastic and the Proprietor is wonderful. The grounds are beautiful. I only stayed one night but it was very relaxing. I highly recommend this scenic 17th century Bed and Breakfast.
5 on October 27, 2011
The Speedwell Forge B&B is in a wonderful wooded setting. The 18th century structure is of beautiful stone. The interior was perfectly restored and nicely decorated, and our room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was flawless. Beyond all this, the B&B is on the grounds of the "Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania", a unique and fascinating home for rescued wolves. There are public tours led by volunteers knowledgeable in the behavior and social structure of wolves. If you too are drawn to the mystery of wolves, the wonderful B&B is an extra bonus beyond the opportunity to experience wolves first-hand.

A lovely place to stay and very obviously a labour of love for the inn keeper. The building has been beautifully restored and is in an idyllic location, very peaceful and restful. We would love to stay again and enjoy the hospitality of this delightful inn.

Dawn is a wonderful host, and her cooking is amazing! Beautiful Inn and grounds, quiet and relaxing. Adventure awaits if you choose to explore some of the other points of interest on the property...you'll have to find out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

We had a delightful weekend at the B&B, but just loved visiting the wolves. The tour is wonderful and so educational! We really enjoyed sitting at breakfast and making new friends! Just a great experience in all areas! Thanks, Dawn!

Staying at Speedwell Forge was truly an unusual experience. Not only did we enjoy the privacy and beauty of the Paymaster's Cabin, and Dawn's delicious and healthy breakfasts, we visited the incredible wolf sanctuary on the premises. The care Dawn, Darin and the volunteers show for these rescued animals is remarkable, and we learned a great deal. Highly recommended. -- Myra and Ray

Drizzle and an unusually cold weekend did not dampen our spirits at Speedwell Forge. The mist only added to the magic of this beautiful 250-year-old mansion, its lovely grounds, and the wolf sanctuary on the premises. We'll not soon forget our walk at dusk among sleeping wolves and the lights in the windows of the old house beckoning us back for the night.
5 on October 17, 2011
My husband and I had a very short vacation at Speedwell Forge B&B. I wish we stayed longer. Dawn made us feel at home, fed us (we are vegetarians) like royalty, gave us a tour, and told us so much about the wolf sancturary on the grounds. The historical sight is also home to 40+ rescued wolves. If you are lucky enough to be there during a full moon you will hear them howl. Dawn, Darin, and their volunteer help do so much for the wolves. It's amazing. She has restored the manor home in a way that would make it's original owners proud. Dawn keeps the place immaculate. My husband is fastidious about cleanliness and we have been to so many B&Bs. This place is the cleanest! I love it. I want to go back in the winter. Go ... you will not be disappointed.

Speedwell is lovely for getting away from it all, the rooms are beautiful and relaxing. It would be worth the stay even if you were not interested in visiting the wolf sanctuary, which in itself fasinating. The Innkeeper Dawn, goes out of her way to make this a friendly stay. I am going back when I can stay longer !

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Speedwell Forge B&B! It was just a beautiful room, I couldn't have asked for more. We received massages & dinner by the fire which was delicious. My honey said it was one of the best steaks he ever had! The wolves were the best part & it was awesome to hear them howl in the evening. All in all we will definitely be returning to this B&B!

My wife and I spent one evening in the Paymaster cottage, and it was the highlight of our 6-day trip to PA. The cottage was beautiful, romantic, and comfortable, with all the amenities. Dawn and Darren are great hosts, and have done an incredible job in restoring the historic buildings at this site. The countryside setting is extremely peaceful. Dawn is a great breakfast cook. Having a wolf preserve on the property certainly makes this B&B unique. Nearby historic downtown Lititz was our favorite town in Lancaster County. We highly recommend Speedwell Forge, whether for a quiet getaway or special occasion.
4.8 on September 08, 2011
Everything about this B&B was excellent! The room was wonderful, the location was great, and Dawn was willing to deal with any requests for breakfast (I think she said she has 15 types of flour in her kitchen!). Also, any stay here would not be complete without a visit to the wolf sanctuary!
5 on September 02, 2011
My wife and I got away for a few days of relaxation and feel as if we hit the jackpot. Everything about the room (paymasters suite which is pictured), property, wolves and people was way more than expected. We are only 2 hours away and plan to make this a regular get away spot!

Hurricane Irene tried to ruin our stay but was unable to. We all slept peacefully and although there was a lot of rain and limbs and leaves strewn about, we were snug and safe in the beautiful and sound proof summer kitchen. Dawn served up a lovely formal breakfast even though the Inn had lost power midway through her baking. We had wonderful lively conversation with the other guests and had the added pleasure of candlelight courtesy of Irene. We had taken my mother along on this occasion and that may have had some influance on the weather. My mother's middle name is,"Irene"! We highly reccommend the Speewell ForgeB&B and will definately visit again.

My husband and I chose the Speedwell Forge for our babymoon, which ended up being exactly what we were looking for: a quiet and relaxing space to enjoy each other's company before the craziness of baby's arrival. The accommodations are comfortable, and the food is fantastic. I was concerned about the comfort of the bed, but the room and bed were exceptionally comfortable and clean. It is lovely to stroll slowly along the paths and to watch the wolves. We had a serene babymoon thanks to this excellent B and B!

I had such a wonderful stay at this B&B. The house is cared for with such love and attention to detail. The inn keepers were friendly while not intrusive, Dawn is a great cook - I loved her chocolate cake! The tour with the wolves was so interesting and it is such a great thing they are doing for these displaced animals. If I had to say anything negative is that the grandfather clock in the main house sounds like a doorbell and on my first night I woke up once thinking someone was at the door! I will definitely go again and stay at this house, very relaxing.
5 on August 22, 2011
My husband and I stayed at Speedwell Forge for just one night and wish it had been a longer stay. The Inn is outstanding and Dawn's pride in ownership shows through in every detail. A must if you are in the area!

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful estate. The innkeepers were very helpful and pleasant to talk to. They selected a good restaurant and made reservations for us. Make sure to look at the magnificent sycamores behind the main building.
5 on August 13, 2011
It's not everyday that you can walk a hundred yards from your room and see some wolves. The wolf refuge is part of the B&B property, which is wonderfully private and blissfully quiet. We much preferred it to staying in downtown Lititz, which we have done in trips past. The 18th century house is historic, beautifully restored, with a great history. And it doesn't hurt that the exceptionally nice innkeeper cooks a mean breakfast. A winner.
4.8 on August 13, 2011
Such beautuful grounds and living quarters. Every room was so clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and our hostess can cook vegan! We also loved walking the grounds and visiting the wolf santuary but that doesn't have to be part of your experience because it's gar enough away from the houses that it can't be seen. This was a very good place for the money and I want to return soon! Also, you can easily arrange for a chef to come and cook for you or get a massage for two! The hostess knows everyone in the region and networks well!

The Inn was restored to perfection. Our rooms were lovely, old world charm displayed with impeccable taste. I loved our whirl pool, bear foot claw tub. Our breakfast each morning was a three course gourmet treat. Dawn, our host and owner of the B&B was very gracious and did everything to make us feel at home. Everybody that we met there to include the volunteers at the Wolf Sanctuary were so friendly towards us. We really hated to leave. Thanks Dawn and Darren

We plan to return to Speedwell Forge in the future for another fantastic getaway!

Took my sister for her birthday not knowing what to expect never having stayed at a bed and breakfast. It was like stepping back in time to a simpler way of life . You were treated like family and it felt like home! Will recommend this to everyone I know. A great getaway without traveling far from home. It was spectacular being that close to wild wolves and yet wanting to pet them as if they were your pet dogs! Fantastic weekend, so glad I found it online.

My mother and I stayed at Speedwell Forge for a couple days to be near my pup, who was having surgery nearby, at Lititz Vet Clinic. Everything about our stay was wonderful...the house (very clean), the breakfasts (delicious), the hosts (such nice people). Dawn is extremely accomodating with breakfasts...ie, if you have egg allergy, glucose intolerance, etc. And can't forget WhiteFeather the dog (he's on the property but not in the guest areas)...what a great dog! Looking forward to returning for a tour of the on-site wolf sanctuary. Thanks for everything!

From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. This beautiful, well-kept B&B was tops on our list. Our room was just beautiful and it looked exactly as it appears in the pictures! We got what we expected. The breakfast was amazing and the Innkeeper, Dawn, who prepared it was just lovely. We very much enjoyed our stay, especially the time we spent touring the Wolf Sanctuary right on the property. There was a special tour/ceremony in the Wolf Sanctuary the night before we were due to leave and it was so impressive. Of course it's the people there that really make the experience what it should be, and they do....
5 on May 01, 2011
We stay at a lot of B&Bs, this was one of the best! I could realistically say that it exceeded my expectations. Dawn has a breezy, easy way about her, but she is very perceptive, and does not miss a thing when it comes to anticipating and meeting her guests needs. For example, she remembered something I casually wrote weeks before on her Facebook page about my raisins in scone preference. The scones she served were delicious, with raisins! Also, during a breakfast conversation it was mentioned that my husband has some intolerance to milk products, the next morning she served a low dairy breakfast. She goes above and beyond!

DH and I stayed at the Speedwell Forge over Easter weekend. What a wonderful way to spend a holiday. The B&B is lovely! The restoration was well done. The entire inn is beautiful and spotlessly clean, you could eat off the floors it's so clean. Immediately we felt at home, like we were staying with our favorite relatives. We stayed in 'Katherine's' Room. It was perfect. The room is very spacious and comfortable and the tub is incredible. Dawn is an amazing chef / cook. The breakfasts rival anything we've had in 4 star restaurants. The wolf sancuary is unbelievably fascinating! I could go there every day and just watch them. Mystical / magical creatures. Well cared for and very much loved. We adopted two wolves. I can't say enough about our stay at Speedwell Forge B&B. My DH and I plan on making this an annual Easter weekend stay. I can't wait to see the wolves again.

Our stay at Speedwell Forge was remarkable. A chance to get away without the kids is a rare thing, and I can't think of a better way to have spent it. Our stay in Kathryn's room was wonderful. The room was comfortable and inviting, and the tub was perfect. Breakfast was elegant and delicious and set the tone for the entire day. Even considering all of this, it is Dawn that really makes Speedwell Forge shine. Her love for the property and for what she does is what sets this B&B apart. We would love to return sometime in the future, but even if we never get the chance, the memories of this trip will always be with us.

I have been traveling with my grandson (age 14) and my granddaughter (age 12) since they were babies. We always look forward to our travel adventures together. The two nights we spent at the Summer Kitchen Cottage were among the best we've ever had. The cottage was like a little home away from home for us. We all loved the wood stove and the luxurious whirlpool bath. Dawn is a wonderful host. The breakfasts she prepared for us were fresh and delicious. She suggested activities and places to dine in the area that were perfect for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the adjacent wolf sanctuary. What a great find this was for us!

4.4 on April 07, 2011
Very hospitable family, especially Dawn, she'd tell us all about the area, and the wolves are awesome! The house is very peaceful and quiet, Victorian style, where you could feel you travelled back in time. It's a real all-stone, thick-walled construction, with wide window frames. Slightly pricey, but well-worth it, considering you can walk around and see the wolfes for free (which otherwise requires payment if you take an official tour). Somewhat far from the heart of the Amish country (20-30 mins), but if you don't mind a truly scenic drive around the area, this should not be a problem. Thank you, Dawn and Darren!

My recent stay was wonderful. Upon arrival I was warmly greeted by Dawn who kindly asked me to remove my shoes and handed me a new pair of slippers. This was completely understandable to me as I remove my shoes in my house as well. She also asked me if I had any dietary restrictions which I do as I'm a vegetarian..she seemed happy to accommodate. My first reaction was the love an pride Dawn apparently had for her house and the property. This historical home is immaculate and well appointed with beautiful antiques. My favorites were the Cake Chandeliers, simply beautiful. I stayed in the Boy's room which was charming, perfect for two friends or parent and child. The room was roomy and spotless. The fireplace was convenient to use and only added to the coziness of the room. The bathroom was luxurious and modern and had high end terry robes available on the back of the door. The breakfast was delicious and served on lovely china. The tour of the Wolf Sanctuary only made me feel the devotion that Dawn and Darren have for this property. Their good work and commitment to providing the wolves with a safe alternative is to be commended. I hope many people come to support their efforts. Overall I had a wonderful experience and I will definitely go again. Julie S.

We chose this B&B for our wedding night because it looked romantic, and it surely was. The room is fantastic (I couldn't find another like it in the area) and the property was also awesome. Very secluded and quite, the paymaster suite is totally private, breakfast was fantastic, and our host Dawn was so friendly and inviting! I really can't imagine having a better one-night-honeymoon (unless we could have made it last a little longer). The wolves are also a must see -they're beautiful make such fantastic music together! I would recommend this B&B to anyone wanting to stay in the South-central PA area!

Doing B&Bs can be so hard if you have dietary restrictions, but this place is a MUST for you! So much thought and attention to making sure every guest - vegan, lactose intolerance, kosher, whatever - gets not only the bare minuium but options (I could chose from soy milk, coconut milk OR chocolate almond milk!!!) And whether you have dietary restrictions or not, the food was amazing and chatting with the owner, Dawn, was delightful. The rooms are amazing and decadent and full of history. The property is secluded enough to be quiet and private, but still close enought to everything for sightseeing. The icing on the cake was the Wolf Sanctuary. Right there on the property, it was the perfect place for a stroll or a picnic. In addition, taking an actual tour with Darren was fantastic. He was so knowledgable and helped us get to know each wolf personally, which was an amazing irreplaceable experience.

We had a great time at Speedwell. It was a unique experience, not just with the wolves, but with the locale. We are used to staying at B&B's at places that are considered more tourist attractions (Cape May, Hershey, etc.). Speedwell is located off the beaten path, although there still is plenty to do in the area (plenty of shopping). It was an extremely clean and orderly place and I would definitely stay again, although for me its not really the place I would come back to on a regular basis just because there isn't a ton to do. But it certainly is relaxing, so if that's your thing, its perfect.

We had a wonderful night at this B&B and woke up to a winter wonderland outside our windows. Loved the house and history behind it. Friendly hosts and a great spot close to several day trips away.

Excellent property. The wolf preserve is very interesting and unique.

For a person seeking restorative solitude or a romantic getaway, the setting is ideal. It is nestled in a state park where a walking trail beckons. Wolves on the property provide opportunity for a transcendent cross-species experience. You won't want to join the real world after staying here.

Speedwell Forge is a beautifully restored mansion that shares property with the Wolf Sanctuary of PA. We enjoyed seeing the wolves and it was neat hearing them howl at different times during our visit. Dawn is a very accomodating host who keeps a sparkling clean B&B.

We came because of the wolves, but the B&B stay made our trip so much more enjoyable! The wolves are a must see and we've already started telling friends they have to go! Be prepared to drive to town for lunch/dinner tho. Dawn makes wonderful breakfasts!

My partner and i stayed in the paymasters cottage, and we both agreed it was probably our favorite bed & breakfast experience ever. So comfortable, a lot of care in the details--and also the ease of sincere, big-hearted hospitality, of Dawn wanting folks to feel truly at home. And at the same time, plenty of privacy and luxury. I particularly enjoyed the hot tub, eating roasted nuts in front of the big, warm gas fire, and listening to the kaleidoscope of birdsong in the morning under the willow tree outside. Oh--and the amazing breakfasts, which both i (a vegan) and my sweetie (an omnivore) totally relished! The location is beautiful and open, and the b&b and the family (of human and other animals) living there felt full of love. Don't go there, tho, because we want to be sure to be able to get a reservation when we go back again. ; )

The rooms and decor are beautiful, the food is incredible (and caters to just about any diet), and the setting is amazing, with the wolf preserve right on site and lovely small towns just down the road.

Everything was wonderful! I will go back again and recommend to friends. Dawn and her family were great! Loved it!

We stayed two nights in the historic Paymaster's Cottage. It is all you see in the pictures and more! From the beautiful wood floors and high ceilings to the fireplace and jacuzzi tub, the cottage is amazing. Peaceful surroundings and an historic journey to the 18th century. The wolves who have been rescued are lovingly cared for by the staff and treated us to a beautiful chorus of howls on our first visit to their enclosures. Then, there were the breakfasts. Wow! Dawn is truly a gifted and thoughtful chef. Everything she touches, from the cuisine to the decor, is skilfully and lovingly done. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time!

An excellent B&B with the added feature of easy access to the wolf preserve. Strongly recommend it.

The B&B was on a quiet stretch of property and the individual cottage that the Paymasters Room is in was warm amd cozy, even with the windchill in the teens. My girlfriend and I were able to enjoy the fireplace and jacuzzi and had the in-room massages and dinner which was a great way to end any given day. Dawn, the Innkeeper, was a very pleasant woman and makes great breakfasts. It was a great time all in all and worth the cost.

My friend and I stayed overnight at this B&B when we were antiquing in Adamstown. We stayed in the "Boys Room" which had 2 twin beds. Nice clean room and a very nice bathroom ensuite. Breakfast was yummy and perfect for a cold almost-winter day. Dawn is delightful and makes her guests welcome. There were some repeat customers having breakfast with us. She recommended a fabulous dining experience, Restaurant Mazzi in Leola, about a 30 minute drive from the B&B. (We were there for about 3 hours so don't go if you want a quick meal.) 2 problems that I feel can not go unstated: If you are a light sleeper, be aware that the steam hisses when it comes on and it woke my friend up each time it went on throughout the night. We arrived at night and had a VERY difficult time finding the place. In the daylight, this would not have been an issue. The sign on the road is not lit and the GPS had trouble locating the place. So we called to find out where it was. When we finally arrived and we turned into the driveway, there was a split in the road and that wasn't well marked either. As luck would have it, we chose the wrong one (the right fork) because there is a big metal fence at the left fork which reads "Private Residence". To us, that did not mean, "Welcome to the Speedwell Forge B&B". When we called again, we found out that we had to go through the gate. In the freezing cold, lit only by the headlights of the car, we had to figure out how to open the latch on the big metal gate, then swing it open. I am guessing that this has something to do with the wolves but it was not very friendly to guests.

We had a personalized dinner cooked in our room, totally awesome! Loved hearing the wolves at night. The fireplace and the jacuzzi tub are amazing! For breakfast we had delicious spiced apple waffles! Great place to stay! Would love to come back!

The place looks amazing, I was there with my girlfriend and she loved it too. The breakfast was great, I would definitely go back again. If anyone is thinking of staying around the Lancaster area this would be the B&B to visit. The bonus was the wolf sanctuary on the grounds. The Innkeeper, Dawn, was very friendly. A great experience!

Dawn And Darin both made us feel relaxed as we were welcomed into their home. No detail was overlooked. Breakfast was first rate, and everything from scratch, what a treat. Darin took time out from his "chores" to introduce us to each wolf and we learned so much. We are allready planning our next trip back.

The Paymaster's Office was set back from the main house and was very cozy/romantic. The breakfast Dawn served was delicious and plentiful and she and her staff could not have been any more friendly or helpful. The Wolf Sanctuary was very interesting and the volunteers there were also very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions regarding the sanctuary or wolves. Overall, our weekend was wonderful and we would highly recommend Speedwell Forge B&B to our family and friends!

My stay at the Speedwell Forge Bed and Breakfast was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time...a beautiful old home drenched in history...a wonderful hostess, Dawn I love ya!...a delicious gourmet breakfast...more stars in the night sky than you could ever imagine...lovely,comfortable, spotless rooms...I stayed in Bill's room...great shower, heated floors...I could go on and on! I am still talking about my trip to everyone. All this and the wolves...what an experience to walk around the sanctuary and spend time watching these beautiful creatures. I cannot wait to see them again. I LOVED THE SPEEDWELL FORGE EXPERIENCE!!!!! Paula Betz, Selbyville DE

Excellent experience, beautiful surroundings, careful attention to detail, personal attention, and very tasty food.
5 on November 11, 2010
Our stay at Speedwell Forge was absolutely perfect. The buildings and grounds are wonderful and have a long and interesting history. The interior has been lovingly restored by the owner who is the third generation to live on the premises. The restoration combines the original furniture and 'feel' to this historic property with state of the art improvements (heated bathroom floors, air jet clawfoot tubs!) The breakfast was wonderful and we enjoyed the privilege of chatting with the owner. It was a delightful and relaxed morning. We did not have time to visit the wolf sanctuary housed on the same property but loved hearing the story of how it all came about. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer at this elegant B&B. Our advice is that if you have a chance be a guest of Speedwell Forge, don't miss it. Living 2,700 miles away will not stop us from going back one day - and for a much longer stay.

This B&B is definitely a must for a quiet getaway where you are surrounded by one of nature's most amazing animals! The wolves are within walking distance and the tour is HIGHLY recommended! The room I stayed in (The Boys Room) was the cleanest room I've ever seen. Literally, you could eat off the floors, if you were so inclined! Dawn, the Innkeeper, spoils her guests with an amazing breakfast and great conversation.

Relaxing in a mansion built in 1760, ultra clean, modern bath, comfortable rooms, period furniture, beautiful grounds, daily 3 course organic breakfast prepared by Dawn our gracious innkeeper. Walking distance to visit with the 40 rescued wolves in the Wolf Sanctuary of PA which is also on the property. Minutes from Lititz and Amish attractions.

we enjoyed a very quiet getaway for 2 days. Highly recommend to any couple who wants to unwind from the busy everyday life.

Amazing property. Although built around 1760, it appeared to be in wonderful condition throughout. Not a speck of dust anywhere. This is NOT an old musty place, it is in fantastic condition. Nearby to Amish attractions, good restaurants, and the wolf sanctuary is worth the stay itself. Bill's room was nice, much nicer than website photo. Breakfast was delicious. Only suggestion I'd offer innkeeper is maybe enhance the ambience with some sounds and scents. My wife and I like soft background music, whether we're at a restaurant or resort, or spa, etc. Ditto with smells. Whether the smell of fresh baked bread or cookies, a cinnamon candle, a pine wreath, anything. We appreciate an ambience that's somewhat warmer, welcoming and "homier". That's subjective of course, and an easy fix. Personal preference more than a complaint.

Spent a wonderful weekend at Speedwell Forge B&B this past weekend. The inn is beautiful - tastefully furnished - and they have a lot of extras that I didn't expect such as local chocolates and a homemade pie sitting onthe dining room table when we returned from the sanctuary. I had never stayed at a B&B before, and I think that if I ever stay somewhere else, they would have a difficult time comparing to Speedwell Forge. Take in the wolf sanctuary, and try to have dinner with the Amish family down the road! An experience you wil never forget!

We recently stayed in the Paymaster's Suite which was beautiful, comfortable and private. The entire property was restored with historical accuracy and beauty as well as modern-day comforts. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast that met our special dietary needs while still incorporating fresh local produce and yummy treats. Seeing the wolf sanctuary was also a unique experience, and so were the town of Lititz and the neighboring Amish communities. We will be visiting again in the winter!

We had a lovely stay at Speedwell Forge! The Paymasters Suite was beautiful and spacious! The breakfast was delicious! The hostess was friendly and informative. The bonus for us was the Wolf Santuary right on the property. My husband and I spent a lot of quiet time there watching the wolves interact with each other. They are beautiful and magestic animals! I would not hesitate to recommend Speedwell Forge to anyone looking for a peaceful trip. The whole area is fantastic!

Wolf conservation personified in a delightful, historic setting. Everything about Speedwell Forge was magnificent from the wolves to the house itself and the food. Dawn presents a great breakfast - plentiful and something different each morning. I look forward to returning in the future. Dorothy

Our first visit to Pennsylvania and we were lucky enough to stay here - in the Paymaster's Office! Every detail had been thought of - it is even better than the website shows. The hosts could not have been friendlier or more helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food at breakfast was amazing and served by the hostess, who cooks everything herself. Peaceful, relaxing and educational - run by special people who work hard to make their guests' stay perfect.

My fiance Donna and I spent a wonderful week in August at Speedwell Forge. The wolves brought us there, but we will continue to return because of our wonderful experience. By far, one of the finest B&B's in the country! You won't be disappointed. Donna and Chris

We spent our 5 year anniversary at the Speedwell Forge B&B...we cannot say enough wonderful things about it! It is absolutely spotless...not a speck of dirt to be seen anywhere. The ambience is second to none. The owners, Dawn and Darin, have added all of the small touches that make this place fantastic. The wolf refuge is a nice addition, and the family is to be commended for their dedication to the animals. We highly recommend the Paymaster's Office for a romantic getaway. Be sure to book a couple's massage, and a meal with Chef Bill. You won't be disappointed, and will likely be sad to leave. We will definitely be back again!!!

Our stay at Speedwell Forge B&B was amazing. My boyfriend and I ended up staying here on a whim. Our original plan had involved going to the PA Ren Faire and spending the night at the hotel across the road. To our intial dismay, the hotel had been booked solid so we made reservations at the B&B. Our dismay quickly turned to awe and happiness at our "fall-back" choice. The hostess, Daun, made us feel right at home and very welcome. Even our dietary restrictions were taken into account for breakfast. Breakfast by the way is scrumptous and very hearty. On top of the lovely rooms, soft pillows, and tasty treats, there is a wolf sanctuary on the grounds of this old estate. The volunteers and staff at the Wolf Sanctuary of PA need to be commended for their dedication to wildlife conservation. We highly recommend going on the tour. Speedwell Forge B&B is definately the place to stay in Amish country.

This is the thought and word most often used during our stay at Speedwell. We felt very welcomed and at home from the moment we entered the door. It is a wonderfully relaxing getaway. The home is so beautiful and you can't help but share in the pride and joy that Dawn has for this home. She has the gift of hospitality and does well at being sensitive to the needs of her guests. Her breakfasts are the best ever! We loved Kathryn's room and we have such wonderful memories of our time spent here for 2 nights in January, that we hope we can return again sometime.

My husband and I spent the weekend in the glorious Paymaster's Cottage and loved every minute, every detail, everything about this exquisite hideaway. The pictures are beautiful-but the Paymaster Cottage makes your heart flutter in person. Can't imagine a more romantic weekend. Strolling the streets of Lititz and Bird in Hand, having dinner at a historic local eatery and then heading back to Speedwell Forge for wine, a roaring fire and a handmade Amish quilt. This special place will reinvigorate any marriage!

Our recent stay in Kathryn's Room was wonderful! It was by far the cleanest B&B we've ever been to. The restoration is awesome from the original wood floors to the original crown molding. Dawn was nice to talk with and you can tell she put her heart into this place. It was so quiet. The wolves are a must see! It was a delight to have them all howl for us one evening! It sounded awesome! Be sure to ask for a tour of the property too. We'll be going back!

A wonderful time was had by my boyfriend and I on a romantic weekend away from New York City. No detail was overlooked in the pristine renovation or amenities offered to guests. The inn-keeper, Dawn, is a delight. She prepared both gluten-free waffles (for breakfast) as well as yummy walnut brownies, calming all my celiac related fears. She was so accommodating in making dinner reservations for us, as well as providing directions and maps to help us navigate downtown Lititz. We stayed in the Paymaster's Office, which induces relaxation in even the most tense travellers. It is private, quiet, and immaculately clean. The historic details of construction were preserved, and best of all is the fireplace. It's original facade is in tact, but has been updated to run on gas (perfect, we slept with it on through much of the night without any worries!) Sink into the double jacuzzi (equipped with bath-oil, and a rubber ducky), and wrap yourselves in the plush robes which are provided. This B&B is a very special place and a true labor of love. It's low-key, yet pampering, and definitely exceeds all expectation.
