One night turns into Two

5 on September 07, 2017

My husband and I continue to talk about our stay in Erie and must say, staying at the Spencer House made our visit even more special. We were very comfortable in our room and enjoyed breakfast immensely! The location on 6th was perfect as we were able to walk to dinner both nights. (Thanks, Joy, for the recommendation of the Taphouse.) We hope to visit again in the not too distant future for an extended period of time and most definitely stay at the Spencer House.

Innkeeper Response
Thanks again for staying with us and we're so glad you enjoyed the local area so much!

Best B&B in Erie!

5 on August 25, 2017

We've been spending a mother-daughter weekend at the Spencer House for several years now. Situated in the perfect location for an Erie overnight visit, it's walking distance to downtown Erie, 10 min drive to Presque Island, Waldemeer and shopping! The owners, Joy and Fletcher, take great care of this beautiful home. They are very warm, friendly folks and serve the best B&B breakfast! Spencer House has become our home away from home! We will continue our annual tradition of staying at this B&B for as long as Joy and Fletcher will have us! Michelle and Rita

Innkeeper Response
Michelle and Rita, thanks so much for staying with us! We also had a great time with you both and can't wait to see you again next time you're in Erie.

A Family Reunion and more....

My husband and I stayed a the Spencer House while in Erie for a family reunion. What a treat this was - such a lovely place to stay! We've told the entire family to skip the hotels for the next reunion and to stay with Joy and Fletcher! Looking forward to going back in the future!

Innkeeper Response

A hidden gem on the heart of downtown

5 on June 26, 2017

You will not find a better place to stay in Erie. It is a slice of heaven steps away from the restaurants and theater. It's close to everything but tucked away in a quiet nook. The inn is beautiful and the food scrumptious! The hosts were wonderful and can recommend food and activities near and far. If you are considering staying here, call today. You will not be disappointed.

Innkeeper Response
Thanks so much for choosing to stay with us! We look forward to seeing you again soon.

This was our first true B&B experience and it will probably be the standard by which we judge all future B&B visits by! Great home and great hosts (and a terrific chef)!

Innkeeper Response
We're so glad you stayed with us and look forward to seeing you again!

Another Wonderful Getaway at Spencer House

5 on April 05, 2016

Just returned from our second visit to this beautiful inn and miss it already. Fletcher's breakfasts are delicious and Joy offers an amazing amount of information for your traveling experiences. They are not only very personable and anticipate your every need but also create an extremely relaxing experience for their guests. Be sure to notice all the beautiful details of this 1876 mansion from the gorgeous woodwork to the comfortable antique furnishings. We were sad to leave the Spencer House today but know we will visit again very soon and renew the friendship built with Joy and Fletcher.

Innkeeper Response
We were so happy to see you both again and can't wait to "rock out" with you again!

A splendid glimpse into the Victorian past.

5 on September 11, 2015

Our stay at the Spencer House was a very relaxing experience. Our hosts, Fletcher and Joy, are truly on top of their game. The home is beautifully rich in Victorian splendor down to the last detail and immaculate. We stayed in the Spencer suite and enjoyed the large shower, and the king-sized bed afforded us with a very comfortable night's sleep. The breakfast was delicious and completely to our liking. The lovely wood work and rich furnishings take you back to an elegant time and way of life that one can truly appreciate. We're glad we've found this gem and are looking forward to our next visit.

Innkeeper Response
Thanks so much for the wonderful review!! We're so glad your stay was a good one. Hope to see you back soon.

About the innkeepers

While Fletcher's favorites are birding and fishing, Joy prefers recreating historic needlepoint and knitting. We also both enjoy watching the cats (the true owners of the house) as they lounge in true comfort.
