My husband and I've stayed at many B&Bs. CHBailey is tied for our favorite! Sherry has created a beautiful home which she shares with travelers. She has paid attention to the smallest of details in decorating and in her magnificent breakfasts. Our room had a sitting room overlooking the countryside. We had a coffee tray waiting outside our room one hour before breakfast was served. It was a great way to wake each morning sitting overlooking the scenery sipping on coffee. Also, if you enjoy wine she has complementary white and red for your enjoyment!

We stayed at the C.H. Bailey House for the second time in July of 2016. Jay and Sherry are very hospitable and were very easy to work with when we had to make a change in our reservation. We love the property, and especially enjoy playing Bocce in the evenings. We will stay again any time we're in that part of the State. One note however, though I never saw the neighbor to the East, he does fly a Confederate Flag at the rear of his property that can be seen from different spots on the C.H. Bailey House property, but is not overly obtrusive.

They have so many things to do right on site, bocce ball, hot tub, and country road hikes. The rooms are so spacious and the food is amazing. They really cater to your liking if you want time alone or if you want to spend time with a group they are always so accommodating. We love that they have beer on tap to help ourselves, and they always have a bottle of local wine that we are welcome to also. This is a must stay! We don't travel South that much but for this place we don't mind making a special trip!

My wife and I went away for the night to celebrate my birthday. We were greeted warmly by Sherry and her husband which made us feel like good friends. The house was awesome and the décor fitting of a five star bed and breakfast. Our room was spacious and the reading nook had a wonderful view of a serene pasture and hills. We both enjoyed hearing the soft sounds of the nearby cows. At breakfast, Sherry served up her take on huevos rancheros but her warm tea cakes were to die for. We will definitely go back next time we need to re-charge.

We LOVE spending our vacations at the CH Bailey House....We come here twice a year to relax, play Bocci ball, play horseshoes, walk through the Christmas tree farm, have wine on the beautiful patio or classic front porch complete with swing. Sherry and Jay are Wonderful hosts, they are VERY accommodating and friendly! The breakfasts that Sherry makes are delicious and special made with fresh eggs from her hens and goodies from her garden. She also supports the local fruit & veggie farmers. Once we arrive we don't like to leave until our vacation is over. We bring simple items for dinner or have a pizza delivered. Their home is in the country but not far from town. Relax and enjoy the views of rolling hills with scattered oak trees and cows from your room. Two of the rooms have sun rooms with walls of windows. They even have the big classic red barn complete with a beer keg. And also enjoyable is an old shed made into a smoking room with a wood burning stove. We were there in September and cant wait to go back! Thank you Sherry, Jay and Family for opening up your home! We just LOVE you :)

We only stayed here one night on our way from CA to our home in Portland, but we're planning to return. Sherry was a wonderful hostess. The breakfast consisted of organic pears and yogurt, frittata, and a home made muffin for dessert. It was delicious. We stayed in the Melton room, and the view from our private sitting room was fantastic. At night, Sherry offers red wine in the breakfast room, white wine downstairs and beer in the barn. We only took advantage of the former, but it was a very good wine from Abacela. a local winery. The bed was very comfortable

We have been going to the CH Bailey House for YEARS and each and every time it is such a relaxing delight! Sherry & Jay have made this a wonderful place to spend your vacation. The Inn is so comfortable, the classic front porch swing, the barn which has a beer keg, the Bocci ball court is superior complete with lights, the smoke/cigar room with old wood stove, the patio's, the Christmas tree farm, the horse shoe pits, the organic garden, the peaceful rolling hills surrounding the Inn with majestic oak trees...AND...the DELICIOUS Breakfasts prepared by Sherry....and each morning prior to breakfast there is a hot carafe of coffee and Biscotti waiting for you......WE LOVE THIS PLACE...and Sherry, Jay & their family TOO! Thank You for opening your home to us :)

What a wonderful find - we stayed one night on our way from the coast to visit Crater Lake - it was bliss. From the minute we arrived we felt so welcome in this beautiful house. The room was perfect the grounds and garden are so very nice and we would have loved more time to chill out and relax. we were treated to a scrumptious breakfast and packed up with cookies for our journey. Sherry goes out of her way to please her guests and provides an excellent haven in this lovely area .... if only we could have stayed longer.

We just spent last weekend at the CH Bailey house bed-and-breakfast. Hospitality could not have been better. Sherry and her family are warm and welcoming. She is an amazing cooking breakfast was some of the best I've ever had at a B&B. Our room is beautiful, comfortable and nicely decorated. The only minor drawback is insulation between rooms is nonexistent due to the age of the home. We will be back!
5 on August 08, 2015
The hostess was very welcoming with coffee and cookies upon arrival. She promptly led us on a tour of the property and explained the ground rules. Asking guests to remove shoes upon entry is a strong plus (in our opinion at least) so guests don't bring dirt in and the stairs don't creak. Complimentary wine and soft drinks as well as water and a late night snack. Next morning we had a sumptuous breakfast in the garden. She had accommodated our request for vegan fare. The food was delicious. The price is a bargain- We have paid much more at other B&Bs that do not come close in quality. We highly recommend this property.

This is our 5th stay at the CH Bailey house and it is still as fabulous as ever. The rooms are all tastefully decorated with lovely sitting areas where you can look out into the peaceful countryside and sip on the coffee that Sherry puts right outside the door. Sherry's breakfasts are always delicious with most things from her garden. Sherry and Jay are wonderful hosts and we are sure to be back next year.

We arrived at the Inn and expected to drop our bags and head back into town to explore. However, once Sherry showed us around we found no reason to leave. Very satisfied with our stay!

We spent three days and two nights at CHBH in April. Just a delightful spot. Sherry was a joy and extremely helpful and accommodating. If you are traveling in this part of Oregon it will be a great retreat. Quiet; wonderful breakfasts and a fun place to explore.
5 on April 06, 2015
what a great stay we had. CH Bailey is just far enough outside of Roseburg to give you the country feeling yet close enough to make getting into then simple and quick. The owners are hands off but there if you need something. The rooms are tastefully decorated while maintaining a modern touch. The breakfast is delicious and filling, the perfect start to your day. Next time we find ourselves in Roseburg, CH Bailey will be our preferred place to stay.

Sherry does a wonderful job of making you feel at home and their grounds are great for outside activities from Bocce Ball to Frizbie Golf, great front porch too!
5 on March 30, 2015
Our first bed and breakfast stay and both my husband and I were quite pleased. The family that runs C.H. Bailey are warm and eager to please. The grounds are pleasant to sit and relax or enjoy a game of bocce ball.

Off the beaten path, but worth the effort. We stayed while touring wine country in the Umpqua valley and it worked out well. A bit of a challenge finding in the dark, but no problems otherwise.
5 on November 03, 2014
Sherry and Jay are great hosts -- like visiting family. Their B&B is the perfect base for visiting Roseburg area wineries, plus the Umpqua River.
5 on October 14, 2014
This was our first stay in a B & B and it really sets the bar high. We needed a place to stay near Roseburg and the other options close by were seriously lacking. It is a bit out of town but that makes it even more special. We arrived in the evening and enjoyed the hot tub and a glass of wine under the stars. And later played a game of bocce before retiring to our room. In the morning, coffee and biscotti were available in the hall right outside our door at 7:30 am. We headed down to the dining room for breakfast at 9 am and enjoyed a minted fruit salad, poached eggs on rosemary toast with heirloom tomatoes and baked apple with oats along with coffee and juice. I'm sad that we don't really have any excuse to come back to the area and stay here again but I will absolutely recommend it to any and all.
5 on October 10, 2014
Wow! This is a great B&B! The rooms are perfect and the service is above outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay while driving around Oregon. Sherry and Jay were delightful and incredibly accommodating. I would highly recommend a stay here if you are anywhere near the area.

We enjoyed our stay at your welcoming and beautiful B & B. Your home combined all of the comforts of home with sparks of a true luxury retreat. The morning greeted us with fresh fruit compote, a no crust quiche, and fruit crisp. The experience added to making our visit to Oregon memorable. Thanks, Greg & Elaine

If you enjoy being surrounded by lovely rolling hills in farm country (I do!), this B & B is a wonderful place to stay. The property and rooms are exceptionally well maintained, the hosts are welcoming and the breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed an evening walk and a swing on the front porch--complete with free entertainment from the calves across the road.
4.4 on October 06, 2014
The CH Bailey House is lovely; the rooms are very nice and the service is spectacular; the owner has free draft beer in the barn, which is an easy walk from the house. The only complaint is that the owners want you to remove your shoes, especially before going upstairs. This practice we thought was weird. We understand that they want to keep the house clean and asking they be removed if muddy or something is one thing, but all the time?

We stayed in the Umpqua Room which we enjoyed because it had a large sitting area surrounded by large windows with a great view. We also enjoyed sitting on the front porch to have a glass of wine before going back into town for dinner. The breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed talking to the other guests about our travels.

We stayed one night on our way to Ashland for the Shakespeare festival and adored this inn. The owners have a beautifully maintained property with all the extras to make your stay comfortable- drink stocked fridge, outdoor seating, hot tub, bocci ball and a delicious breakfast prepared by Sherry. We will be back for sure- a real gem. This would be a great spot for family or friends to rent the entire Inn and throw a party in the barn.

The C.H. Bailey House was a wonderful surprise, with beautiful grounds and accommodating service. They also opened my eyes to the beauties of the Umpqua valley! Only one thing kept this visit from perfection-- the beds. They were undoubtedly high quality at one time, but now are at the end of their life cycle. A poor night's sleep was the only blemish on an otherwise excellent place. With new beds in place, I would not hesitate to visit again!

We stayed twice this month, July 2014. We were travelling north to Seattle and then two weeks later came south. Sherry was very accommodating, as she was having a wedding the day before our return trip. She allowed to stay over when she really wanted to have a day off! She always makes wonderful breakfasts that help get your day started out just fine! We've now stayed three times at the Bailey House, I'm sure we'll find a reason to stay there again. John & Nikki

We stayed one night on our way from Bend to Portland (via the cost road) on the final leg of our vacation to Oregon. The hosts were just great, so accommodating and the breakfast was five star. A comfortable bed and a cosy room along with outdoor space and wonderful front porch make this Inn the place to stay in Roseburg.

We stayed three nights at the C.H. Bailey House and found it to be one of the loveliest - if not THE loveliest- B&B we have ever stayed at; and we have stayed at many in US and Canada. This was our first visit to Oregon. Our room was comfortable and quiet, and it seemed anything we could need had been thought of. The coffee in the hallway at 7:30 am before breakfast time was a thoughtful touch. Breakfasts were incredible and one morning when we had to be out of the house early, a"to go" of muffins and fruit was set up for us. I only wish we had had more time to spend AT the B&B, instead of running around! Highly recommend this place!

I love this place! This B&B is a destination in it's own right. Once there, you really don't want to leave. The hosts are warm, welcoming while not being intrusive. The food is gourmet, and made with fresh ingredients right out of the on-site garden. I'm vegan, and had something unique, delicious and creative for every breakfast. The flower garden is beautiful and peaceful. CH Bailey House is off the beaten path, so a great place if you need to retreat from the world but still be pampered. Not many vacation stays linger in your memory as part of your wonderful time, but this one will. After you leave you will think about the delicious food, beautiful, comfortable room, and peaceful relaxing environment. This will become the standard that you judge all other lodging experiences in the future.

We just stayed at this B&B on a Friday and Saturday night and the home is spotless and shows a pride of ownership by the couple that own it. When we arrived, we were about an hour before the check-in time and expected to ask if this was okay. We walked onto the lovely porch and into the front door where on the banister of the stairs we saw a personal note & room keys with our name on it welcoming us into the home. The note said that they would be be back shortly and catch up with us. We brought our bags in and headed up the stairs to the Bailey room where we found the room to be very cozy with a comfortable king bed, fireplace, a lovely bathroom, large walk in closet and everything we needed to settle in. We had just drove down from Salem which normally is a 2.5 hour drive and it took us 5 hours due to snow and ice between Salem and south of Eugene. Needless to say, we were exhausted so an hour nap was wonderful on the plush king bed. After awakening, Sherry must have heard us stirring and noticed our door open and came up to greet us. Sherry was delightful in our first meeting with her and was just the same during our whole stay and we were made to feel very welcome. The breakfast's that Sherry made for us were really nice and easily held us until dinner. This B&B and Sherry are delightful. We didn't meet Sherry's husband, but as nice as Sherry is, he would have to be a good guy! If I were asked if there was one thing that I would like to see different, it would be in the gravel parking area where we stepped in dog poo on two occasions walking from our vehicle to the front door. Sherry keeps her home immaculate and there is a sign on the front door to please remove shoes upon entering. We made sure that we didn't track the dog poo into the entry way, but other guests might not be so careful. A small nit to bring up on such a lovely B&B and hostess, but feel that Sherry needs to know this.

We were on a week long trip from the San Francisco Bay Area to Silverton, Oregon. We decided to go up the coast via Eureka and I didn't know where to stay on our second stop. I was thinking about Grants Pass, but didn't want us to stay in a typical hotel/motel. I did a search for places to stay enroute and found this gem online. The C.H. Bailey house brought nothing but smiles to my wife's face. It's located about 5-10 miles off highway 5 near Roseburg in the countryside. Sherry was warm and friendly. The room was not only clean, but decorated very tastefully. Our room had a small seating area overlooking the front yard with a view of the country side through which we had driven. The two oversized chairs were so comfortable and we read and rested our weary bones after the 5-6 hour ride. This was so much better than the typical hard chairs at a wooden table in a hotel room. Just not having to walk through those long boring hotel hallways was a treat. There was a small fridge in the hallway containing sodas, water and frozen treats. Sherrie made sure there was a pot of coffee ready for the tenants at 6:30 in the morning. On the wall was a little chalkboard where we signed up for a breakfast time. The breakfast was a delicious surprise which exposed me to some things I never would've experienced had I ordered off a typical hotel menu. The grounds were very interesting. There was beer in the barn and wine in the house. I wish we could've stayed longer to play bocce ball, horse shoes, or just wandered the grounds. We'll have to do that on our next stay... I'll be sure to mention the C.H. Bailey house to my friend whose daughter attends OSU. It'll be a nice break for him on his 10 hr. trip. Ralph de Vries

This was the quietest and most nicely situated of any of the B & Bs we stayed in during our recent vacation. They are about 10 miles out of town, so you need to give yourself a little extra time if you are going to go out for dinner before retiring for the night. The bed was very comfortable. The bedside tables accommodated our CPAP equipment (hubby and I both have sleep apnea and must use CPAP). There was a fabulous red barn housing an antique car. The host and hostess are as sweet as could be. Breakfast was truly spectacular, but, unfortunately, was not tailored to the needs of a diabetic, though I had communicated my needs ahead of time. Breakfast supplied less than 12 grams of protein, practically no fat and was heavy on the carbs. Had I eaten freely, I would have enjoyed 30 grams of carbohydrate in the fruit juice that was offered (8oz.), 25 grams of carbohydrate in the half-baked apple with granola on top, plus another 45 grams of carbohydrate in the coffee cake for a grand total of 100 grams of carbohydrate. There was no meat. The egg and cheese soufflé, though delicious and flavored with herbs from the garden outside our bedroom window, probably supplied less than 12 grams of protein. I struggled to keep my carb intake under my allowed 30 grams and apparently did not succeed because my BG levels soared into the 180s following breakfast. Not good...but, really, and to their credit, not a lot of folks even know how much carbohydrate is in the foods they eat or offer to others Even fewer understand how to manage diabetes. Sherry and Jay are forgiven...they are great hosts and this is a lovely place! I'll bring my jerky and string cheese down to breakfast next time. Four stars for this one. They will get five if they ever figure out diabetes.

Our state at the C.H. Bailey House came after a week long paddlewheel river boat cruise from Clarkston to Portland. We then took "the long way round" down the coast then back along the Umpqua River to Roseburg. We stayed two delightful nights at the Bailey House B&B. The evening we arrived, we enjoyed a glass of wine watching our innkeepers finish a bocci ball game on the brand new, beautiful double court. They did such a great job on building the courts and decorating the area. The inn itself has been carefully rehabbed and decorated. Every detail is perfect. Our room is was large and so comfortable. It had a sunroom sitting room with a great view of the barn and the hills behind it. Such a calming, relaxing view. We totally enjoyed wine and cheese in that room. It was a super place for us to plan our next day's activities. The bathroom was ensuite and plenty big. It had a great shower. There was tons of natural light from the big window. The innkeepers thought of everything. Right outside the bedrooms was a refrigerator with water and soft drinks and white wine. In the mornings there was coffee, hot water for tea, biscotti's, and all of the fixings. It was so convenient and thoughtful. We could choose our own breakfast time. Both mornings the breakfast was 3 course. Fruit, a main dish, and a bread - so good. I have no idea how the innkeepers do all they do. The yard was immaculate. They had a flower garden just behind the house. Behind that was a herb/vegetable garden and behind that they raise chickens. Their barn had room for dances or parties. The C.H. Bailey House is wonderful. We highly recommend it.
5 on October 21, 2013
From our first call saying that we were running a little late, we felt an immediate burst of hospitality. We arrived in the midst of a Bocce Ball contest the the new courts near the barn. We were immediately put at ease by Sherry and Jay. Guests are served wine or draft micro-brew as part of the warm reception. Our room was spacious and inviting with a wonderful sitting room where we enjoyed our morning coffee and watched the fog lift. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. During our first visit to Oregon, we stayed in seven highly-rated B&B's, and this was the best of all. It would be a perfect spot for a "wedding on the grounds" in an idyllic setting.

We are from Ottawa, Ontario and found this B&B during our internet search for places to stay while travelling through Oregon. Well we were not disappointed that we built this stop into our agenda. My husband had never stayed in a B&B and was not sure what to expect. This is not a B&B, it is a home away from home with beautiful gardens, lovely scenery, spacious and comfortable rooms and an awesome breakfast made and served by Sherry the owner. There is nothing more to say other than you need to put this stop on your agenda...

From the moment Sherry met us a the door to the farewell breakfast all was perfect. Truly, I could not come up with one suggestion to improve our stay. The rooms are elegant and comfortable; the breakfasts were delicious, fresh and healthy; the grounds were inviting with so many private areas to sit and enjoy the silence and surrounding beauty. Coffee right outside our room in the morning and wine in the afternoon were delightful additions. My husband went fishing very early one morning. Sherry packed a breakfast for him, including a take out coffee mug! We definitely recommend Sherry and Jay's home - a delightful respite! Barbara and Hank

Complimentary beer, wine, and frozen treats would 'make it' for most guys I know but I'm a bit pickier than that! Throw in a glorious suite with a terrific view and cable TV and even 'I'm' impressed. A gourmet breakfast didn't hurt either. What would I 'change'? Absolutely nothing.

I enjoyed a one-night getaway at the C H Bailey House... I cannot wait to go back again! I rooms and decor were quaint and comfortable. Sherry's mix of professionalism and personability were of a rare find... :-) I stayed in the Conleycott Room... It was wonderful for me, but I would probably choose a room with a deck or terrace if / when I bring back my hubby! I have gluten and dairy intolerance...and Sherry made these dietary concerns of no seeming dilemma or concern... My food and the ambiance of the House were quite delightful...(cannot wait to try adding some mint to my next fruit salad...!) This is a gem, if you can spare the extra few minutes in driving out to the wonderful, peaceful, and scenic countryside!!! ;-) StJ

We just loved this B&B. There are two regulation Bocce courts which we enjoyed and we had an extraordinary dinner at Blackbird in Roseburg. The innkeepers are terrific and they have every amenity known to man.

This is a fabulous B & B with a charming feel and a stunning location. Drove several hundred miles to stay there and will definitely stay there again

CH Bailey is a super clean B&B, with lots of lovely details (like cold drinks upstairs on the landing, wine available (white in the wine cooler, red downstairs), coffee and tea provided upstairs with biscotti in the morning. it's not a very chatty/communal B&B (we passed one other couple in the breakfast room and only talked to the host for a few minutes), but if you want an idyllic B&B, then this is the place. The wi-fi is a little spotty, you may have to hunt down the owner and ask her to reset the connection when she gets a chance.

The C.H. Bailey House B and B was fantastic. After driving from Eugene to Crater Lake it was a beautiful end to our day. The grounds were lovely, food was excellent and they even had menus for "delivery" from local restaurants. We would make the trip again from Chicago just to stay there!
5 on August 19, 2013
Everything about this B&B was perfect after a long day of driving. Clean, quiet, peaceful country setting. Just lovely. Sherry and Jay were the perfect hosts. Ingrid and Ben Baartman

We love the outdoors, and this was the ideal place for beautiful views, quiet, pristine gardens, and multiple places to enjoy the property. It was so beautiful that we couldn't stand to leave for dinner! We ordered pizza delivered so that we could continue to enjoy the wonderful back yard!

I did not believe the reviews but I was so surprised to see this beautifully renovated home. Every detail is thought through...I wish my home was as beautifully decorated. The owners truly make you feel at home and there are many different areas to enjoy your breakfast to give you privacy. The breakfast includes eggs from Sherry's chickens...just wonderful! Well Done!! We will be back! Beckie & Larry

My husband and I enjoyed three nights at this gorgeous country setting B&B. The owners were exceedingly friendly, but not pushy. The gardens and room were very well maintained and extremely clean. But our favorite part was the exceptional breakfast prepared each morning: eggs prepared several ways, fresh herbs, homemade muffins, juice, coffee...all enjoyed on the lovely country porch or in the garden while hummingbirds buzzed about. Truely a relaxing and pampered way to begin the day! This is the nicest place we have ever stayed. Highly recommend!!
5 on July 26, 2013
Our stay was all we could have hoped for. Relaxing environment, comfortable home, and delicious breakfast. This wonderful family has perfected the art of bed & breakfast accommodations. We hope to return one day!

Finest b&b we have ever stayed at ... and we have stayed at a lot. NO detail was left untouched; from the interior and exterior decor. Magnificent garden and a great front porch Simply make you want to linger for hours. Simply beautiful and yet unpretentious. Host are gracious and can't do enough to make you feel welcomed. All this and a wonderful breakfast served in your choice of 4 different outside suroundings.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Bailey House. We were looking for a quiet country setting and found it. The evening of our stay, we sat on a swing in the back yard and watched deer grazing and listened to the cows and birds. A nice break from our usual suburban environment. The inn was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was lovely on the front porch. Highly recommended. recommend this

Seeking solitude, we just spent five nights at CH Bailey House. We had time to sleep, wander, read, dream ... and of course play Bocce! Thanks so much for delightful food taken on the big front porch and including us in the Bocce tournament. We will return...again.
5 on June 25, 2013
The C. H. Bailey House has it all. The room we stayed in was comfortable and well decorated, with a sitting area that overlooked the surrounding countryside. Sherry and Jay were great hosts and made us feel right at home. The gardens where we ate breakfast were simply beautiful, and the food was the best we had on our trip. Hiking in the tree farm was just the ticket to work up an appitite. Our Golden, Murphy, enjoyed the open spaces he could explore and the company of the owner's dogs. All in all, it was a perfect combination of factors that made the stay the best B&B experience we have had to date.

Less than 10 miles from Roseburg and Interstate 5, but bucolic in the extreme. The innkeepers were attentive and welcoming. Jay went out of his way to get the wifi working for me. The Bocci Ball courts are perfect for a relaxing game in the evening. There was free beer on tap in the barn and complimentary wine in the afternoon. I would surprised if you can find a better facility in the area. It is a good base for going up the Umpqua to the mountains, or for visiting the wineries of the Umpqua Valley.

We recently stayed at the CH Bailey House and were impressed with everything about it: the cleanliness, the size of the rooms and the wonderful breakfast. But mostly it's the host and hostess who run it that make it special and highly recommended for everyone. Sherry is one of the warmest, friendliest people we've met in a very long time and goes out of her way to make everyone feel at home. And you instantly do. We'd recommend a stay here for anyone.
5 on June 20, 2013
Roseburg is not a top destination, but if you include C.H. Bailey House - then it is. Sherry and Jay are simply put - the best hosts you could ever ask for. We were welcomed as family from the start and after some of their family showed up for a get-together - they welcomed us in as family. The house is perfect, the yard is perfect, the service is unmatched and what can top all of that? Bocce Ball Courts and a barn with a keg & tap in the fridge! I have been all over the world, stayed at every level of accommodation you can think of from hostels to castles. I have stayed at over 50 B&B's in the USA and Europe. C.H. Bailey House is easily in the top 5. Was not looking for it...I was making a way stop from point A to point B, taking in Oregon. What I found was the best overnight stay I could have ever asked for. My only regrets are that I didn't stay longer and that they aren't closer to home for me. Thank you Sherry and Jay. You two have your game on big time.

We very much enjoyed our stay at CH Bailey House. Comfortable and clean room (the Bailey Room). breakfast was superb and our hosts were welcoming. Wine in the parlor was a nice touch---as was coffee brought to the door.
5 on June 19, 2013
This marked my fourth time staying here, and my daughter's second. Sherry is the sweetest most hospitable person who has always given us the best guidance on the 'best' places to try. My daughter is training for a marathon and I just a 10K but we had such a joyous training session with the views, hills and scenery. I'd HIGHLY recommend staying here any time of year. Clean, impeccably decorated and incredible value. Ann-Marie and Colleen McDonough (Hirst)

Jay and Sherry were great hosts, the CH Bailey house was a wonderful surprise. I wish we would have had more time to explore the grounds, play more Bocce Ball and sit in the red chairs under the old tree in the shade. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back. Ask for the Umpqua Room!

Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast , gourmet. Such a beautiful place. Few miles out of Roseburg in a country setting. The front rooms included a viewing porch. The restful back garden was in full bloom. Coffee, water and local wine offered. What more could a traveler want?
5 on May 31, 2013
Well, where to begin? I was hopeful when booking our reservation based on the website and previous reviews from a couple of travel sites. I must share that my husband and I had the most delightful stay! The house is warm, inviting, and full of history. The hosts were most gracious and accommodating. The gardens are beautiful. We stayed for about a week while visiting family in the area. We have no regrets and look forward to our next visit! We also loved the wee ones, feathery ones, and furry ones too!

A lovely home with beautiful landscaping. The rooms are lovely. We enjoyed the hot tub and a complimentary glass of wine. Never could get the TV in our room to work but that wasn't a big desk. Sherry had fresh hot coffee available outside our door in the morning when we woke up. Breakfast was wonderful. The Couron family is delightful. We highly recommend this B&B!

Last minute reservation. Although closed for repiars, they gave me a room. There was a rainbow in hte valley ending 200 feet from their porch. I thought sure it had been Photoshopped. Wonderful people, perfect decor, terrrific facility for year-round-all the modern conveniences, everything worked and best bed ever...slept 12 hours.

We were looking into getting away from Portland for a weekend, and have loved the Roseburg area for years, so decided on the Bailey House. One factor was they allowed pets, and we planned on bringing our mini Schnauzer. The house was a short drive out of town, but easy to find. And we were very pleasantly surprised at first sight!! The home is immaculate, the yard looks as if it's kept by a professional groundskeeper. The inside of the house "feels" like the outside looks - lots of beautiful antiques, but with a an atmosphere of being home. Comfortable and warm. Our room was on the second floor, at the front of the house, and had a beautiful view of the surrounding farmland. We even woke to the sounds of the cows across the road, something that really intrigued our little dog :) The room itself was, again, warm and inviting, and the complimentary wine just outside the door a nice touch. The next morning, where there had been wine, was now coffee, tea and biscotti to snack on until breakfast. And what an impressive breakfast!! An egg/cheese/roasted veggie souffle, roasted home style potatos and homemade muffins. After breakfast, a stroll around the grounds and we were on our way. The owners very so very hospitable and friendly, and we are sure this will be a place we will return to again when in need of some much needed relaxation!!!

We stayed two night while touring Umpqua Valley wineries and the local area. I wish we would have had more time to enjoy the peaceful grounds and lovely garden at Bailey. We did enjoy every delicious bite of the wonderful breakfasts featuring fresh herbs. The host was gracious and welcoming. We are recommending this Inn to our friends and would definitely return. It was a great stay.

Our first stop on our way to Sonoma was this wonderful B&B in Roseburg. Pleasantly surprised and our hostess, Sherry, made us feel right at home. We regret we didn't have time to stay a few more days but will the next time we travel that way. Kudos all around from the comfy room & bed, to the delicious breakfast presented so elegantly. A real treasure that we put at the top of our list.
4.8 on October 19, 2012
Sherry prepared the best B & B breakfasts I have ever experienced; her meals were balanced, used fresh ingredients and were chef-quality. We took in the aroma of roasting chiles as we left the inn one morning. Her service to us couldn't have been more accommodating. The sun room was such a perfect extension of our bedroom. I could enjoy looking at the sunlit countryside, 180 degrees, while my husband slept easily in the morning hours. Sherry also gave us useful tips on how to approach our tour of Umpqua River wineries.

With much trepidation we drove the 11 miles from I-5 east into the hills. It was beyond dusk, nearly dark, deer were all over the place, including the roadway, and the going was slow. Just as the GPS voice said "On your right" we saw the large, brightly lit and inviting C. H. Bailey House. The hostess was warm and effusive in her greeting, the other customers relaxing on the spacious porch were friendly and welcoming, and the facility was beautiful. Our room was comfortable, spacious, nicely furnished (antique style), with a warm and modernized bathroom and shower. Loads of hot water. This was like an oasis in the wilds. The amenities were terrific--wine, cookies, ice cream bars, coffee, tea. Breakfast was a treat, very tasty, and just right in quantity. AND, the price was right. We will very definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

Brought out of state guests with us, and they have travel a lot and stayed in B&Bs. They too thought the Bailey B&B was at the top of their list for places to stay. Loved the rural atmosphere, the wine at arrival, the quiet and the host is a gem!
5 on September 27, 2012
We arrived to discover a beautiful white historical farmhouse filled with beautiful antiques and a refrigerator of cold drinks and popsicles on the landing near our room, which just hit the spot on a warm day. We were warmly greeted and given a tour of the house, where we also found fresh cookies and a variety of hot drinks and wine for our refreshment in the dining room downstairs. The other amenities we enjoyed were the quiet walk on the country road, the swing on the front porch, the hot tub under the stars amidst a beautiful garden and a comfortable bed. We wish we could have stayed longer! Our visit ended on a perfect note, with a gourmet breakfast served in their elegant red and white dining room. Thank-you, Sherry and Jay.

We were guest at C.H. Bailey House for a night during a recent vacation. We enjoyed our time very much and regretted having to leave for an early tee time. The whole experience, rooms, house, grounds, and breakfast, was delightful and we certainly recommend it. We also enjoyed dinner at the Black Bird Bar and Grill in Roseburg that was recommended by Sherry. We hope to return to C.H. Bailey House only this time for a winery tour. And thank-you to Sherry for making an early breakfast for us to complete the whole experience!

I only had a few hours stay here one evening, and sadly had to leave before breakfast the next morning, but Sherry and Jay were warm and welcoming, and set a little table for me in the garden to eat my picnic dinner. It was lovely to sit on the porch and look out at the hills while sipping tea.

My husband and I recently spent one night at the C.H. Bailey House and couldn't have been happier. We were the only guests that night and Sherry upgraded our room at no additional fee. The room was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and we were happy to be able to chat with our hostess one on one about the area and things to do. She suggested a local winery that was excellent! Our only regret is we didn't get there sooner to enjoy the beautiful garden and relax on the front porch. The whole place is scenic, quiet and very comfortable. Sherry does an excellent job.

This is by far one of the best B&Bs my husband and I have ever had the pleasure of staying in! The location is off the beaten path and so peaceful. Our room was beautiful, large and had so many amenities! Breakfast was delicious (you should hope Sherry serves her Ginger/Lemon muffins!). Sherry and her family are delightful. Sherry was so helpful with restaurant choices and wineries to visit! Would definitely visit again! Marianne Jones

My husband and I stayed overnight at this lovely home out in the country in the Roseburg, OR area. Our room, the Melton, was very spacious and had a sitting room overlooking the comfortable front porch and side yard which faced the barn. With our windows wide open to let in the fresh country air, we woke to the sounds of cows and roosters from a nearby farm. The accommodations were lovely and spotless. Sherry was a perfect host, offering wine before we left for dinner in town and serving a delicious breakfast in the morning. The location of the C.H.Bailey House is a bit far from town, but well worth the extra drive. If we ever visit the area again, we will definitely return to this B&B.

We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay at C.H. Bailey House. We arrived rather late in the evening and the proprietor went out of her way to be there to personally greet us. The bed was extremely comfortable (Bailey Room) and breakfast was delightful. We were happy to have such a high quality option for lodging in a place we knew almost nothing about.
4.8 on August 20, 2012
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at the CH Bailey House in August. The owners, Sherry and Jay, were absolutely the most hospitable people we have had the fortune of meeting in a B&B. The service was excellent and the food incredible. They are out of Roseburg 7 - 8 miles, but once we found it, the drive was fine. Their recommendations for dinner were right on and we appreciated the non-smoking policy in all areas. It was a wonderful time for a "girl's weekend."
4.6 on July 25, 2012
Further out from town than we realized and probably not easy to find at night but the rooms were lovely and we enjoyed the views and spectacular breakfast.
5 on July 19, 2012
From the minute we got into the house we were impressed by Sherry's hospitality. She was extremely friendly and made sure we had everything we wanted - from fresh laundry to a table in the patio to hook up our laptops to. The house is gorgeous and our room was equally beautiful and classically designed. Our in-suite bath was huge and stunning as well. Everything was spotless and inviting. Sherry made us guests comfortable with free hot drinks, wine and freshly baked treats - throughout our stay and made a scrumptious three course breakfast for us. We also overheard a vegan guest whom she helped to accommodate with freshly made vegan breakfast. Her great hospitality didn't end when we left. About a week after we came back from our Oregon vacation we got a beautiful handwritten card from her, thanking us for our stay, where it should have been us sending her thanks for making our stay amazing and memorable. We were very happy we chose C.H.Bailey house, very sorry to leave and very hopeful to come back in the future.

My husband and I LOVED CH Bailey! When we drove into Roseburg I thought I had made a terrible mistake choosing this town to break up our drive, but once we pulled into the driveway I knew I'm made GREAT choice. The yard, Christmas tree farm, hot tub and barn are just some perks outside the house. We stayed in the Melton Room which has a wonderful seating area in addition to the bedroom and bathroom. The Inn Keepers make exploring downtown/old Roseburg simple and suggested really outstanding wineries to visit. Without a doubt the best part of CH Bailey is breakfast; an Italian fruit dish, followed by souffle (with white wine roasted peppers) and a chocolate zucchini bread. We'll return to Oregon just to stay at Ch Bailey again!

Great, comfy Inn - spacious rooms, comfortable atmosphere, beautiful county setting. Wine and beer available, hot tub........what more could you want! Topped off with a great breakfast. Sherry and Jay are wonderful hosts - we will definitely come back and stay longer!

We stayed at the Bailey house because of its proximity to the wine region around Roseburg Oregon. Sherry and Jay are very nice people and their home is beautiful and well kept. Sherry made us a wonderful breakfast that was well presented and inventive.

An amazing getaway - quiet & peaceful - rolling hills, valleys, pasture, Christmas trees and cows with beautiful stars at night. Within this lovingly restored gem lives the two: innkeepers, children, dogs, cats & goldfish. We stayed in the Bailey room with the comfy "cloud" king bed, claw foot tub & unique dressing room. We took our delicious & unusual breakfasts outside on the front porch. Really enjoyed the wine, cookies & the hot tub. What more could you ask for? Also, super nice family and immaculate inn.

We love this place and everything about it, the setting, the rooms, the feel, the food, and best of all the owners, Sherry and Jay, who have created a truly special place for their fortunate guests. No disappointments at this wonderful, idyllic B&B in the beautiful Roseburg countryside!

We stayed at the CH Bailey House on the first night of our 13 day vacation, on our way south. What a lovely experience! I think I can easily say this was the best B&B experience we have had. The house is beautiful with a big porch to relax on, and our room also had a little sitting room overlooking serene pastures. The hosts are extremely friendly and welcoming, but let us have our privacy as well. We happened to be there on the 4th of July, and we were welcomed to watch their family fireworks show and enjoy a campfire! Amazingly we were also invited to help ourselves to local wine and tapped microbrew. We were in heaven! Breakfast was also delicious and relaxing! We will definitely stay there again and look forward to our next visit.

This is one of our favorite spots for a peaceful weekend escape! The setting is serene, the breakfast is wonderful!
5 on June 13, 2012
Sherry and Jay provide the perfect mix of comfort and elegance in their beautiful home. The home is immaculate, the rooms beautiful and comfortable...they think of everything, to include magazines next to a cozy chair that overlooks the mountains from your room, sunscreen in a little pot by the front door, and cool drinks in an unobtrusive refrigerator outside the room for all guests to access at will. In the morning, there is hot coffee, tea and biscotti to tide you over until breakfast. Sherry is a gourmet cook. Her creations are delicious, yet seemingly simple, prepared with meticulous care. The first day was a light, fluffy egg souffle with light herbs mixed in, and day two was a poached egg on olive bread with tomato and ham. She added fruit cups, homemade muffins/cakes and juice with each main dish. It was so delicious, a month later I'm still thinking about it! Besides the food, I loved the atmosphere they created. I felt like I was in the elegant home of a friend, where I could relax and feel pampered without too much fuss or attention. The location is very pretty, and behind the house is one of the most creative gardens I've ever seen. Every where you look is a new delight, in either plant, flower or garden decoration. Behiind the beautiful garden setting is a vegetable garden with provides some of the ingredients for breakfast. The perfect setting to relax and rejuvinate, I loved it here and can't wait to go back.

CH Bailey house is surrounded by a view that will take your breath away. We booked the Conleycott room but were upgraded to the Bailey room because of a plumbing issue in the Conleycott. great view fireplace firm matress with fluffy thick pilowws and comforters. We were provided with every comfort of home and then some. We felt pampered by the many amenities our host provided us with. Gourmet cuisine, complimentary local wines, bottled water, Biscottis as well as scrumpscious homemade sweets. The breakfeasts are Top Chef worthy. We were welcome to relax in the beautiful pallor or swing on the porch swing. Sleeping with the window open with only the sound of the stars and waking up to the soft melodic songs of Oregan's bird population. We would give the room, service, value, cleanliness and dinig five stars. We will be coming back again and again.

I'm originally from Roseburg and love to share my passion for Oregon wines. My husband and I brought friends from California for a short weekend trip. Our stay at the C.H. Bailey House was so enjoyable we are planning on making this an annual trip. The decor is wonderful and thoughtfully planned out. The breakfasts were delicious, filling and creative. We opted for the Bailey Room so I could enjoy a working soak in the clawfoot tub. Our friends stayed in the Melton Room with the beautiful view sitting area. We all decided both rooms were wonderful in their own way! There's many other special touches to this B&B so come see for yourself!

We are wine enthusiasts and were invited to Roseburg by Tesoaria for a wine club members holiday event, which was spectacular. I made reservations to stay overnight because 1) it is a four-hour drive home for us and 2) we came to enjoy ourselves and that included consumption of wine! Upon arrival at the C.H. Bailey House, we were warmly welcomed by with a smile by Sherry followed by tour of the home. The home is appointed nicely and extremely well maintained. Our room was cozy with a gas burning stove to add a romantic atmosphere. Top notch mattress and beautiful bedding make for a good nights rest. The shower has good water pressure, too (a real plus in a historic home)! We woke up to the smell coffee and a home cooked breakfast, which was elegantly prepared with local sustainable food, served with love, and good to the last bite. I could ramble on and on about the outstanding hospitality and service from the time you arrive until the time you check out. It is obvious that Sherry and Jay love what they do because it shows in every aspect of their bed and breakfast. So rather than keep on with the rambling, make a reservation and have the experience for yourself! ~Mari & Bob

When you books something online, there's always that doubt that maybe it won't look the way it looks online or be as wonderful as you hope, but the CH Bailey House was wonderful all around. Favorites- the house and rooms are beautiful, great breakfasts (local and organic produce was a big bonus for us, as was the garden), the view of the surrounding farms from our room was so nice to wake up to, and throwing darts in the barn at night was so fun. Sherry and Jay really get it. They are lovely people, and also warm, friendly hosts who were accomodating to dietary needs, and really helpful when it came to restaurant/winery recommendations and driving directions. If it's been a while since you've seen the stars or enjoyed a glass of wine in a hot tub while listening to Sinatra, then book a room here.

It's a while from town but more than worth the drive into the farmlands. The B&B is well maintained and immaculately clean. Sherry welcomed us, showed us the ropes and our room, and let us know that she would be available whenever we needed something but that they did not like to "hover" over their guests. Just right by us. Our breakfast was fantastic and we were able to eat on the front veranda and enjoy the beautiful quiet of a country morning. We would recommend C.H. Bailey house to anyone who wants a respite from the traffic and commotion of in-town locations. Two (I guess it's actually four) thumbs up.

huge ,modern rooms; beautiful, fresh ingredients in the breakfasts that area feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. The entire farm is manicured and the laying hens seem very content--- they deliver delicious eggs. I have been in several B+B's across the states....this is one of the very best.

A B&B with complete attention to every little detail and service without ever missing a beat. The house, the rooms, the garden; everything is cared for with love and complete dedication. Breakfast in the garden was super, home made eggs benedict and muffins, fresh fruit and coffee and tea already available outside your room half an hour before you signed up for your breakfast. The king size bed fit for a king (and queen).

This B&B, set in a beautiful farm like setting, is a great place to stay. We found the host friendly and very helpful, the breakfast good, and the rooms clean, quiet, and comfortable. It is a place we definitely will return to.

Friendly hosts. They showed us around a bit, then let us on our own to explore. A barn was fixed up with a pool table and other activities, refreshments, and an old car on display. The main building was adorned very nicely in the antique style. Wine and other refreshments were also provided. Nice stay.

My wife (Leslie) and I spent an evening at the C.H. Bailey House on our way to Ashland, Oregon—we know wish we would have spent an extra day at C.H. Bailey because of the great time we had. We arrived in the late afternoon and Sherry and Jay where there to greet us and tour their B&B. They offered us wine and a cold beer on draft. The beer was an IPA from Lompoc Brewery and it was delicious. Jay varies up the beer but based on his selection of the Lompoc IPA he knows how to pick a good beer. Rather than going into town for dinner my wife and I chose to have a light dinner of cheese, bread and fruit sitting on their beautiful porch, sipping a glass of wine, overlooking their meticulously landscaped property and the rolling hills across the street. After dinner we sat in the hot tub and relaxed even more. Relaxation doesn’t come easy to me—but the environment and our hosts made it easy. Our room was spacious and welcoming, and the king-size bed was more comfortable than the one we have at home. Sherry delivers a pot of coffee outside your door about an hour before scheduled breakfast. Leslie and I sat in our room drinking coffee and reading until our delicious gourmet breakfast was served promptly at our requested time. I highly recommend C.H. Bailey house and its outstanding hosts Sherry and Jay.

C & H Bailey Houe is the perfect bed and breakfast. Every detail is perfection. Sherry is an amazing host, tending to every need. I would highly recommend this little piece of heaven in the beautiful Umpqua valley.

One of my top three B and B's. Sherry (owner) is wonderful! I would recommend this place anytime. All senses are pleased by; the food and wine, the beautiful scenery, and the sounds of nature. I have found in my travels that I like less rooms in a bed and breakfast. Sherry offers four rooms, all have beautiful views. You are sure to find at least one room with which you will fall in love. Literally and figuritively! Check out the C.H. Bailey House website. Once you have stayed you will want to go back. Thank you for an AWESOME stay! RMC (coffee and tea will be placed on the landing in the morning for you and you Don't have to get up at 8:00am to eat breakfast).

The C.H. Bailey room was a very pleasant experience. We had a fantastic stay! Sherry is a great host. Fresh eggs, creative egg dishes and organic berries from her garden every morning. It was amazing! The place is super cute and a nice getaway from our normal hustle / bustle. The room we stayed in was really nice and we came back to beds re-made every morning and the room picked up nicely. Sherry was extremely sweet and helpful the entire time. Great hostess and we really had a lot of fun. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway and some wine tasting in Oregon.

Didn't see the hosts much but that was fine with me. Breakfast was great - we were both very happy. The beds was comfortable and we slept well. Oh, and a great shower too! Strong water pressure from a good shower head. It's off the beaten path but that makes it nice and quiet at night.

What a great way to end a day of wine tasting in the Umpqua are. Surrounded by pretty hills in a beautiful setting, the house is exquisitely decorated, Sherry (owner/hostess) was at our beck and call, we had a great night's sleep on an extremely comfortable bed, and breakfast was absolutely delicious. Couldn't have asked for more and definitely will be back.

Thanks, Shery The breakfasts were fantastic. After starting the day with such a great meal, it was difficult to not be dissapointed with meals in other restaurants in the area. We are planning on returning and would definitely recommend to others.

I made a reservation to stay at the C.H. Bailey House as a break after the stress of planning a move, packing, etc. I found it on line and was intrigued by the elegance and authenticity of the decor. We were looking for a rental in the area, while trying to sell our home in another state. The first night I had trouble relaxing, we were keyed up from all the activities we were dealing with. However, due to the gourmet breakfasts, attention to details, as well as plenty of privacy, we began to feel our stress decrease as we returned to the Bailey House each evening. Sherry had thought of everything; we could choose our time for breakfast, she provided coffee waiting outside out door an hour before breakfast, which was served in the lovely dining room. She also provided a small refrigerator outside of the room, with ice cream and wine later in the evening if so inclined. Sherry and Jay have created a lovely, elegant, and relaxing environment only 10 miles from Roseburg. Also, being able to walk out the door, into the fields and unwind while enjoying the beautiful rolling hills, was lovely! I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone.

We enjoyed our relaxing 2 night stay while doing some wine tasting at several local wineries. Gave us a chance to unwind. We both enjoyed the grounds, taking a "hike" and see some wildlife and just enjoying the tranquil country setting. Each breakfast was cooked to perfection. Chris was a great hostess and we enjoyed talking with her.

Stopped for a couple of nights while working nearby and appreciated friendly and down to earth service. Impressive attention to detail like made-up handouts on local restaurants and chocolates in the room. Scenic and relaxing setting away from city noise. Delicious two course breakfast with all the fixings. Gluten free and gay friendly.

So peaceful out in the country and Sherry was so wonderful and friendly. A girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay after a day of wine tasting in the valley. We arrived to the smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. The gardens were lovely, even in the gray of the showers we had that evening. I would love to go back and enjoy the front porch in the summer. Sherry was a great hostess and even gave me a start of her chocolate mint! Thanks, I will recommend this B&B to everyone.

What a great experience! My wife and I had a wonderful time in a relaxing "feel at home" B&B that we'll remember for years to come. Sherry was an amazing hostess who always has a smile on her face and a beautiful sweet spirit. Anytime we travel this way again we’ll be sure to take advantage of what can’t be found at any other place in town – down to earth, friendly people who really do care about your stay!

My co-worker and I recently stayed here while we were conducting a training. This bed and breakfast was a great place to return to after a long day of training. Free wine in the evening, great views of the mountains, serene setting, and lovely owners made our trip wonderful. Highly recommend the Melton Room. Owners went out of their way to accomodate us and make sure that we had everything that we needed. You won't be disappointed.
4.4 on March 31, 2011
Our spacious room (Melton) was comfortable and attractive without being over-the-top as some B&Bs can be. Pastoral views were peaceful and especially nice in the morning. The hosts were helpful but only as involved as we needed them to be, which is what we prefer. Refreshment fridge and coffee brought up to the room in the morning was a wonderful amenity! Breakfast was truly gourmet- individually prepared to our tastes with high-quality ingredients. This is what made the price a good value.

This B&B is an example of loving care, inkeepers who understand the value and of loving investment in their business. Hard work and attention to detail, is evident everywhere. The Bailey house is immaculate in every corner and decorated WITH cozy TASTE. Three large rooms offer private comfy areas where guests can sit, read and enjoy privacy. Each room is tastefully decorated, as is the entire house. Sherry is a foodie and spares nothing to deliver a first class mouth-watering breakfast. During this visit, she started with a perfectly ripe, sliced pear, drizzled with a caramel sauce. This was followed by toasted ciabatta topped with prosciutto and perfectly poached eggs accompanied by a pecan/orange muffin warmed to perfection. Guests are welcomed by white and red wines from the region, along with a stocked refrigerator near the upstairs rooms. Coffee and tea are left to the guests convenience in the morning. Fresh flowers scattered throughout the house, another marker of the aesthetic care and taste of the owners. The house itself lies in the beautiful rolling countryside near Roseburg, making it a peaceful, restful stop...truly an oasis. The grounds are extensive and lovingly attended and manicured, a delight to the eye and demonstration of the hard work required to deliver a perfectly lovely B&B to lucky guests. There is a hint of Tuscany in the countryside. Prices are definitely fair given the value here. Innkeepers are welcoming, attentive and present for guests while also leaving room for plenty of privacy.

C.H. Bailey House is our destination for a comfortable, cozy, atmosphere with exceptional food and amazing hosts! The location is gorgeous with rolling hills, oak trees and the quiet country location. Sherry and Jay make your stay comfortable and offer you anything that you may need including complimentary wine. The rooms are comfortable with windows that let you enjoy the countryside. This is truly a restored farmhouse that has incredible comfort and quality, it's the real deal! The charm of the C.H. Bailey House is unique and we look forward to returning!

In the middle of idyllic pastures and quiet rolling farmland rests the CH Bailey House. A beautifully restored old home filled with tasteful, elegant comfort, just right, not overly done and in keeping with it's timeless architecture. It SHOULD NOT be missed and is worth a visit regardless of your destination. Manicured lawns and wide slices of country space welcome one to roam in country silence. A perfect escape especially form I-5. While it lies about 10 miles off the Roseburg Oregon I-5 exit (be sure and copy directions or you will get uneccessarily lost), it is still close enough to city restaurants and Rosebury amenities if needed. But this is not why one would stop at CH Bailey rather to find the corner haven for a truly restful adventure at costs not much more than cold, lifeless chain hotels just off I-5. Sherry is a "foodie" and presents a lovely breakfast that reflects her well developed culinary tastes and skills. The morning we were there she served poached eggs with proscuitto on top of toasted ciabatta with perfect garden tomatoes and a sprig of basil. It was the kind of breakfast so good it leaves you hungry for more. One of the loveliest extras are wines offered complimentary to guests from her region. The beauty and perfection of the CH Bailey house is a result of two caring, lovely young owners who clearly take pride in their business and who have paid attention to every detail. And it is us as guests who reap the rewards of their offerings. It is a MUST STOP and soon will be one of those places impossible to get into because of the return customers who've fallen in love with it.

This is such an awesome B&B. Sept. 2010 was our 3rd consecutive year of staying at Sherry's & Jay's. They are warm and welcome hosts that it feels like visiting family. The surrounding area is relaxing and truly gets you away from the big city. We like hearing the sounds from nearby farm animals and listening and smelling the day and night air. We enjoy our coffee in the room's sitting area often looking out at mist and fog. We have also enjoyed Sherry's cooking and look forward to dinners she served for us. We are spoiled and pampered during our stays at C.H. Bailey!

It is fair to say that being in the 'business' makes my level of expectation somewhat higher than most. It is also fair to say that my wife and I were completely blown away by the attention to detail and quality of our experience provided by the inn keepers, Sherry and Jay. From the general beauty of this restored turn of the centry farm house to small wonders like local wines, locally made soap and locally made chocolates. Breakfast was tasty and beautiful to the eye, especily when served at a romantic deuce set into the flower and herb garden. We will be back as we did not have the time to enjoy a wander out into the Christams tree farm or the hot tub.
5 on July 10, 2010
On our recent trip to Oregon, we had the pleasure of staying at this bed and breakfast for one night. My only complaint is that we should have stayed there longer. The Melton room was elegant and beautifully decorated. There was a sitting room in our suite which had a fantastic view. The surroundings are peaceful and beautiful. The service was outstanding and the breakfast was fantastic. We will definitely return but would plan on staying longer.
5 on July 08, 2010
This bed and breakfast establishment is quietly elegant and superbly appointed. The beds were extremely comfortable; the hosts bring out antique crystal and place settings for breakfast and even for the bathrooms; the setting is as lovely as advertised; and there are lovely sitting areas inside and out, front and back from which to enjoy the vistas. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Driving from CA to WA on a busy weekend, we called en route at the recommendation of a friend never expecting to find a room, let alone such a lucious site and B & B. The outside gardens were a perfection of color and scent, carried beautifully indoors into decorative touches of fresh roses in every room. The views were bucolic and pastoral. The humans, dogs, cats all perfectly reflected the gentle, calm beauty of the place. Wine offerings from nearby vineyards were a lovely touch. Breakfast was fresh berries, eggs, and fruit, all gathered and cooked/baked and exquisitely and tastefully served outside in the morning garden sun. Go out of your way for this place. Even if you live in Roseburg, OR, it's worth the restful stay!

The Bailey House was the perfect relaxation spot for my wife and I. The view from our room with our morning coffee was perfect. Enjoyed hiking around the local waterfalls. Oh, I can't forget to mention that the blueberry pancakes were perfect. Look forward to coming back. - Mike and Teresa, Fair Oaks, CA.

Spent two nights here while Steelhead fishing the Umpqua recently. Jay and Sherry are two of the finest hosts you could possibly hope for. They are quick to make you feel like family without being too encroaching. Sherry is a fantastic cook. She cooked dinner for us on our schedule and was up before 5 AM to make sure we had breakfast and packed up wonderful lunches for our days on the water. I would not think of staying anywhere else when in the area again and I am hoping to get back there with my wife for a couple of days of winery tours.

We have made it our priority to stay at the Bailey House every year.We feel that Sherry and Jay have become family for us, they are the nicest folks and their son Colin is so precious. If anyone is looking for a place were you want to be treated like royalty this is the place for you. The rooms are amazing! the surroundings are peaceful and beautiful and the hospitality is priceless! We can hardly wait for our upcoming visit this year.

Jay and Sherry are awesome hosts and their son Colin is a delight. This B&B is tastefully decorated with antiques. Relaxing in our comfortable sitting room and sipping complimentary wine put us in a relaxed mode. Our room overlooked a peaceful rural setting where we watched cattle grazing and we even saw a doe and fawn visit the yard. Upon arrival two friendly dogs (Murphy and Guiness) gave us a hearty welcome which made us feel right at home. We were impressed that we could choose our breakfast time, by writing our names on a blackboard by one of the four time choices offered. Breakfast was scrumptious and contained fresh seasonal items which were expertly described by Sherry. Many of the items were from her own garden. Jay and Sherry have created a B&B which sets the standard for all other B&Bs.

The accommodations are beautiful, the hosts are wonderful, and the food is the best I've had at a B&B. Take a detour if you must, but do stay here at least once.

We stayed there three nights last July during our Oregon Tour. Sherry and Jay treated us greatly and the whole family voted Bailey house our best american accomodation. It is a quiet and comfortable place to rest and the food is just wonderfull. I have eaten there the best blueberry pancakes on Earth. Last but not least, my wife Agathe can't eat gluten, and Sherry offered her every morning pastries made with gluten free flour. Agathe really appreciated this so nice attention. Jay, Sherry and her mom, thank you very much again to all of you.

We stayed on the way to WA from CA on a Thursday night. It was a full house! Sherrie served us breakfast in the back garden with eggs I watched her gather just minutes before. We enjoyed it so much we booked it again for our drive home. The food was superb, beautiful blueberry pancakes with sausage. Diane Madden

What a place! We were so lucky we discovered this comfortable, tranquil retreat. Sherry not only treated us to a scrumptious breakfast, but brought us a salad fresh from her garden to go with the dinner we had ordered (ok, so it was pizza...but, try Abby's Mediterranean if you want another treat...was great to enjoy on the front porch with a nice glass of wine). The setting, the gorgeous gardens, the marvelous pets (Guinness, Murphy, Miss Olive), the cozy room...wish I was there!

It was so relaxing enjoying a glass of wine and sitting on the front porch swing and out in the gardens in back. The home and gardens are Spectacular. Definetly a 5 star Bed & Breakfast. We will be back. Thank you Jay and Sherry.

We live in Hawaii and were in a rut. We needed a restful, yet beautiful getaway. So when we say it was a really beautiful place, you can believe we know what we are talking about. Jay and Sherry and their little boy opened their hearts to us and we felt very welcomed. Just gazing across the pastures, covered with yellow blossoms, was so relaxing. We did not want to leave. We hope you can enjoy this wonderful getaway like we did. The food was excellent.

Stayed here twice - one night each time. Very pleasant stay. Jay and Sherry were verrrryyyy well schooled and verrryyy thoughtful in their approach to hosting a bed and breakfast house. Talking with them about their journey to this point enlightened me to the work and research they've done to provide the most enjoyable experience for all visitors. I talked w/ Sherry one morning so much she burned two racks of bacon while preparing breakfast. Sorry!! My last breakfast was in the kitchen talking to Jay while he prepared a sausage, cream, spinach and eggs (from the back yard chicken coop) dish, that was delicious. Great place, looking fwd to future stays.

There were lots of nice extras, like the view, gourmet chocolates in the room, morning coffee, tea and biscotti outside your door, chilled white wine in the guests' fridge and red winewhiskey and nice glasses on the dining room sideboard. There was a cozy living room for guests with a TV and fireplace. They even made dinner reservations for us at a great Italian place. PERFECT!

We enjoyed the quiet setting a few miles from town where we felt like special guests. Our rooms had a beautiful view of the surrounding hills. We read for hours and walked through the Christmas tree farm nearby. Nice touches like coffee right outside our door in the morning and wine and goodies in the fridge for later in the day. The gourmet breakfast was delicious. Jay and Sherry are very accommodating hosts.
