This small hay farm is located in a beautiful country setting just 10 minutes to Ashland and walking distance to the quaint village of Talent. With just one room in the main house and two other accommodations in separate buildings, we offer tons of privacy in a casual and friendly atmosphere. We encourage guests to relax by the pond, tour the countryside on complimentary bicycles, or soak in the private hot tub (suite only). Choose from the main house suite with private hot tub, the studio with kitchenette, or our one-bedroom cottage with a full kitchen. A gourmet vegetarian breakfast is included with the suite and a continental breakfast with the studio (the cottage is a vacation rental). Reduced rates are offered without breakfast (see "Specials"). You may occasionally hear the sounds of tractors cutting hay or a rooster crowing off in the distance since we're in an agricultural area, but generally it's super quiet here at the farm.

Shady Grove was a great place to stay. The hosts were very nice and provided excellent service. The food was vegan gourmet and quite tasty. The room was well appointed and classy. The location was quite peaceful yet close to Ashland and other areas of interest.

Visiting this idyllic setting may change your life.I picked this setting for my 59th birthday trip because I wanted to hang out with animals and I got my wish. After meeting Jack, Sophie and Alice(an extremely cute chicken) as well as many other chickens, two turkeys and two beautiful horses and one of the three cats...I realized that I could no longer justify eating animals. The owners are very dedicated to their flock but equally to their guests. The breakfasts were out of this world yummy. Lin and Lynn were the perfect hosts - attentive but not obtrusive, and the best thing was we got to visit up close with the animals. The entire farm is immaculately clean and cozy. I am already trying to figure out when I may be able to return. Very relaxing!! Almost forgot - I was made a birthday pie! Thanks Lynn!!!

we loved this place and hope to return one day soon! Our studio was very comfortable & quaint. But the fun starts when you stroll around the farm & meet the family-dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys...all interested in meeting you! Town is within walking distance & has some good dining options. But what I enjoyed the most was talking to Lin-he made us feel at home & had many interesting insights on nature, farming-everything. It was a great way to start our vacation!

In February, my husband and I spent four nights and almost five days at Shady Grove Farm during which we relaxed in the warmth of Lin's caring attention to detail, unobtrusive but friendly presence and gourmet meals. From the moment we walked into the spacious main house suite and living room we felt refreshed by its light-filled beauty and the gracious style of our hosts. The private hot tub just outside the suite was a nurturing bonus that we enjoyed almost daily. Lin put extra effort into preparing meals and snacks that we would enjoy; we felt pampered! Lin and Lynn truly enjoy getting to know their guests. We were honored to be welcomed into their home and will certainly return to experience the beauty of Shady Grove Farm in another season.

Unfortunately, my husband stepped in dog poop as we left...
So sorry! The studio being off by itself is harder to monitor but we'll be more vigilant! We would have preferred a private note, but we also needed to know, so thanks for bringing it to our attention.

A lovely setting with welcoming hosts. A delicious outdoor breakfast on a slightly chilly autumn morning next to a fire was heavenly.

My husband and I stayed at Shady Grove for 3 days in the main house. Accommodations were roomy, comfortable, and well-appointed, and Lin and Lynn are exceptional hosts. From the arrangements prior to arrival, to making us feel at home, to feeding us exquisite breakfasts, to chatting about any number of topics, we felt like old friends. And the horses, dogs, chickens and cats were all delightful, also making us feel right at home. This is a very unique B&B experience - we highly recommend Shady Grove to anyone visiting the Ashland area - don't worry about being outside of Ashland, it's very close, and nice to stay outside of town. We will definitely be going back soon!

My wife and I spent four nights at Shady Grove and enjoyed it immensely. Lin and Lynn are gracious and outgoing hosts and our accommodations were more than pleasant. We loved the animals on the farm (which are all rescue animals--KUDOS!), especially "Jack the Wonder Dog". The breakfasts were superb--nutritious and beautifully served on the patio. We had a great time!

We love sharing the peace and tranquility of our land with others. It's such a treat to meet so many interesting people! We also enjoy our rescued animals, including horses, chickens, dogs and cats. When not at the farm (rare!) we enjoy being in nature and outdoor pursuits.
