I absolutely Love the Lion & the Rose! The home and its decor are stunningly beautiful! If you want to experience a true Victorian home this is it. The hosts are friendly and go above and beyond to make sure your stay is the best possble, from phones in your room, free WiFi and printer, Memory foam pillows, sleep number beds and many more extras. The 3 course breakfasts are cooked to perfection and snacks and drinks are available 24/7. The hosts are very accommodating and provide maps of the area and suggestions for your travels. The home is impecably clean which is amazing considering its size and the decor. I have traveled around the world and this is my favorite B&B. I highly recommend that you consider the Lion & the Rose for your next stay when in the Portland area and you will be glad you did.

The Lion and the Rose Guest House has thought of everything their guests need during a visit. The bathroom is well equipped. The breakfasts are delicious, beautifully prepared, and plentiful, often with seconds available. The hosts, Steve and Dusty are friendly and helpful, as is their manager, also named Dusty, who is gracious, warm and welcoming. We would recommend Lion and the Rose to anyone visiting the Portland area.

This guest house is beautiful, with interesting items absolutely everywhere! We enjoyed our room and especially appreciated how cool the house stayed during a heat wave! Breakfasts are amazing at a beautifully set table. Conversations around that table were as good as the food!

My husband and I stayed at the Lion and the Rose 10 years ago, and the service, cleanliness, etc has not changed. Talked with Steve at breakfast, and enjoyed hearing about owning a B and B. The Lion and the Rose is a top notch place and would recommend it to anyone

Lovely bed and breakfast in a beautiful part of Portland. The maps made available by our hosts were very helpful. The history of the house was most interesting. No problem with parking and handy to public transportation, a plus for us.

Dusty and Steve and the Lion and Rose were all wonderful for hosts for our biannual reunion. This was the largest of the gatherings yet with a total of 15 coming from around the country and world. The setting was perfect! Everyone loved the front porch during the day and the atrium for evening gatherings. The rooms were sweet, the apartment below deck was great and helpful for late nights. Service was excellent. Everyone there was helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were excelllent and fostered many a great conversation. The house itself is absolutely beautiful and filled with places to sit, lots of local information and even fresh fruit and cookies. Thank you Dusty and Steve!

Pros: large, beautiful Victorian house, charmingly decorated in lion and rose theme. Lots of extras, including beverages, treats, and in-room Amazon Alexa. Great location, near a cluster of excellent neighborhood restaurants. Short walk to light rail. Printed maps cleverly designed by innkeeper for touring the neighborhood, Portland, and region. Innkeepers live on-site. Fine hospitality. Cons: on-street parking can be a bother during local business hours. A bit too much clutter in room limits space for guests' stuff.

My friend and I heard about this Guest House by watching our favorite tv show, Grimm. It was used in season 1, episode 4. We were so impressed from seeing it on the show that when we planned a trip to Portland, we knew we had to stay there for the full Grimm experience! We were very happy we chose this place because everyone there was very friendly and helpful! They showed us all of the locations used for Grimm and we happened to stay in the room used for filming! We could not have asked for a more wonderful visit at this beautiful Victorian Guest House! Even if you have never watched Grimm, this is a wonderful and friendly place to stay!
