Evermore is a beautiful home with comfortable rooms in a very convenient location. We appreciate being able to have coffee, breakfast and snacks at any time we want. The staff is responsive (readily available by phone when not on site). When three of us travel, we choose one of the larger rooms or suites, and request a single bed mattress in addition to the usual bed and it works very well for our family. We've been staying at Evermore and Bluebird for the past four years while our son was in college, and will continue to stay here when we visit.

This is my first choice for lodging in Portland. It is a magnificent building, and I always book well in advance to secure the topmost room with a private bath. There is off street parking, and the place is always quiet. The #4 & #75 buses run withing two blocks and the #4 is only ten minutes from city center. There are many dining opportunities in the area for breakfast and dinner. I couldn't be more pleased with my stay, which is why I always come back.

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Evermore. Everything was neat and clean, the continental breakfast was delightful, the bed was very comfortable and it was quiet and peaceful. We would highly recommend the Evermore and we will definitely stay there again on our next visit.

We loved our third floor attic suite and were shocked at how large it was. It really felt as though we were in a treehouse, and offered fantastic views from the two balconies in the room. The home is in an old tree lined part of the city, with lovely flowering gardens lining the sidewalks. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, coffee shops within an easy walk of the place. The kitchen was always open and available for use or snacks, and I enjoyed feeling "at home" in this place. The house is over one hundred years old, but many of the lovely original features of the home are still there; beautiful inlaid wooden floors on the main floor, rich wood trim everywhere, stained glass windows. All in all, a lovely old home, and I would be happy to stay here again when in Portland.

Our wedding night stay at the Evermore Guesthouse was fantastic! The room was beautiful, as was the house. The breakfast options were wonderful and the vegan options were a hit with us! Thank you for making our stay memorable.

This was a great choice for a three-night stay in Portland. Excellent SE location (close to Division and Hawthorne, both great food streets, and a short drive to Burnside). The room (3rd floor suite) was amazing, and the amenities were all as advertised. Quiet, restful, clean, spacious, and a beautiful space. We'll be back!

Spacious and lovely. Very clean. Never met the host. You're on your own, essentially, but they were readily available by phone if I should need anything. I like this a lot better than having to chat it up with a lot of people I don't know at breakfast. Lots of nice, healthy options for breakfast and great coffee. I would go back. Very conveniently located in SE Portland. Close to dozens of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, food trucks.
4.2 on June 05, 2015
The location is ideal with many restaurants and shops within walking distance on Division and Clinton as are several bus lines easily connecting to downtown and other areas of Portland. It was very nice having off-street parking where I left my car for the two days I stayed at Evermore. The second floor king room I had was very large and comfortable. The commons areas were beautiful and there was a large breakfast selection, along with current newspapers and Portland activity guides. I will definitely return.

This was a wonderful location, home and visit. I stayed here when a girlfriend came to visit from Vermont. We stayed in the third floor skylight bedroom and it was much larger than the pictures made it look. The entire house is so unique, you can feel the charm and character upon arrival. The guesthouse reminded us of the Clue board game with a large center staircase, several side stairwells, and many rooms. It was so beautiful, we were so pleased! And the breakfast was convenient. I was a little concerned when it was a continental breakfast but it is simply like coming home. Help yourself to the food in the fridge, the coffee and tea, and help clean up so everyone in your home feels the love, We will stay here again the next time we visit!

My daughter lives less than a mile away in a studio appt. This gave me the chance to be close by and stay in a very comfortable accomodation for a night. I only had a cup of coffee before meeting her, so I can not say anything about the food (the coffee was excellent, however)

Evermore Guesthouse is a lovely house, tastefully and sparsely furnished with appropriate furniture, decorations and stained glass windows. The rooms are comfortable room and the location is great. We could walk or take the bus everywhere, and enjoyed looking at the restaurants, stores and galleries in walking distance. The breakfast is self-service. Good coffee, lots of nice things to eat- I especially appreciated the greek yogurts. IT was also nice to know we could use the kitchen to prepare our own food, if needed. Our interactions with the hosts were minimal, so if you are looking for the cozy chatty intimate type of B&B scene, based on our experience this will not be it. We like the more independent private atmosphere, so this was perfect for us.

This was a wonderful 3 night stay while visiting our daughter in Portland! Very clean - quiet - and so homey! Prefer the privacy of this over a B & B!

Staying at the Evermore was like staying in your own home, if you live in a wonderfully restored 1909 Victorian mansion. Our bedroom was large and inviting. The self-serve continental breakfast was a great way to start the day free of unnecessary commotion. Staff were barely visible throughout our stay, which made it feel like the house was ours. We will definitely return.
4.0 on April 29, 2015
Our room was large, comfortable and very clean. But there was no one there we could talk to about any problems the entire time we were there, aside from a young woman cleaning, who was quite helpful. There was no warm breakfast, which I have come to expect at a B & B. Just self serve, so we went out for the morning meal. Not sure I would stay again.
The young woman cleaning is available for questions and conversation, please don't hesitate to ask! If we are not in the office we carry the phone with us at all times... we do have to clean guest rooms, do errands, wash laundry, trim the outside foliage, etc. Regarding breakfast, we do a continental- all available items are listed on our website, and those wanting a cooked meal have an array of amazing restaurants within a short walk ~

Evermore is a beautiful, big, quiet house a short walk from restaurants, shopping, and bus lines. Comfortable bed, beautiful light, thoughtfully furnished but free of clutter (no doilies). We appreciated that breakfast items were available any time: ripe bananas make a fine late-night snack. Terrific location. Low-key and friendly, beautiful walks up Clinton street, the #4 bus will take you downtown. We'll be back.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the studio apartment for 3 nights and it was great! Very private with it's own kitchen and little porch, and the location is awesome!! We walked to different bars and restaurants every night! The house is only about 35 minutes from the Columbia River Gorge where we hiked during the day, so great location in that way as well!! Thank you for all the yummy breakfast food as well, we will be back for sure!!!

Stayed two nights in second floor suite. Would have stayed longer if schedule permitted. Comfortable, charming room. Will stay again the next time we visit Portland. Beats the chain hotels by a long shot.

Exactly as advertised. A lovely house, in a fine location, with nice rooms and nice common spaces. You're on your own, though. There's no gregarious owner to create community among the guests. In the morning, you fix your own breakfast from muffins, cereal, and fruit left in the kitchen. In the evening, you arrive to an apparently deserted house (no group of people hanging around the living room) and make your way to your room. NO COMPLAINTS, for sure - it was a fine place to stay.

We've stayed here several times and the rooms are always charming and clean, for a reasonable price. We will be back!

I enjoyed my second spring visit in a row to the Evermore. Such an ideal spot to enjoy the wonderful Division/Clinton district with easy access to the rest of Portland. The 1st floor studio is cozy and comfortable. Thanks to the owner, Chris, for his attentiveness to my questions and suggestions.
5 on April 15, 2015
We found everything as described, which was stated in enough detail that it was not necessary to interact with anyone, although it was clear we could have if we had chosen to. The specific quarters where we stayed--the 3rd floor skylight--was quiet and very charming, particularly the veranda and the bath with its clawfoot soaking tub. We especially appreciated the organic food offerings at the well stocked continental breakfast, and the beautiful common areas. We will use this place whenever we are in Portland, and recommend it to others without reservation.

I would have rated everything a (5) but I could not click on the "outstanding" rating for some reason. There was nothing I didn't like about Evermore except the traffic noise limited how much we could open the windows and it wasn't really walking distance to the eateries we wanted. Even so, it 'felt' peaceful and reminded us of New Orleans, which has a special appeal for us. I loved the self service and privacy. It was perfectly comfy. Evermore is definitely going to be our go-to spot when we want to stay downtown - no question... I think we have found our special spot. I would love to stay longer next time.

My boyfriend and I just returned from a trip to Portland where we stayed 4 nights at the Evermore Guesthouse. The guesthouse was beautiful and our room was clean and comfortable. The location of the guesthouse was walking distance to many excellent restaurants and stores. The guesthouse provided a continental breakfast, but we mostly ate out since we wanted to expereince the wonderful and delicious food options Portland has to offer. I would definitely recommend to anyone planning a trip to Portland to stay at the Evermore Guesthouse.

Whether you're looking for a B & B just for the weekend or for a longer stay, you can't go wrong with the Evermore. The location is perfect, parking is available or if needed the bus stop is on the corner. Shops and restaurants are a short walk away and center city is a short ride. Rooms are comfortable, the staff is super friendly - we're repeat customers and I'm sure we'll be back!

Overall we were very pleased. Very convenient location for us. Charming external appearance. Room was spacious and comfortable. Old ambience, modern conveniences (heat and A/C worked well). Breakfast was satisfactory, but diffwrent from what we have been used to (hot breakfast with genial host and maid service; vs here, continental and wash your own dishes). Not a problem once we learned the drill.
4.4 on March 29, 2015
We've stayed here several times, and are comfortable here. The beds are good, it's reasonably quiet after the traffic dies down on 39th, and there's off-street parking if you drive. It's a nice atmosphere, with pleasant rooms downstairs to visit with others, or just have a cup of coffee and pastry that are available in the morning. We always choose Evermore when we're in Portland.

We stayed at the Evermore Guesthouse for only a night, but everything about the experience was perfect. We got in late to Portland, and the check in process was easy. A key code got us in the front door, and our room was ready and waiting for us. The suite we stayed in was huge, with a lovely bathroom, sitting area and king size bed. Everything was clean, well maintained, and cozy. We did not eat anything while we were there, but the breakfast looked tasty.

This property in SE Portland is a great location to stay for easy access to the Hawthorne district or Division/Clinton street restaurants. It's a short walk to great eateries. I felt very safe walking and biking around this neighborhood alone. I found the quiet atmosphere in the house great and relaxing. No TV was great for me. Other guests and host were polite and unobtrusive. This is not a traditional B&B stay with large prepared breakfast each day. There is good coffee each morning, fresh fruit, bagels, pastries put out. A good variety of dry cereals and granola. Fridge is stocked with OJ, Milk, Soy milk, half and half, jams, butter.. There's room in the fridge for leftovers you brought home from one of the nearby restaurants. NY times and local paper each morning in the dining room. The decor and furnishings throughout the house are simple and elegant. Offstreet parking for guests. Basement storage area for luggage or bicycles. A front sitting room has a networked computer, a number of magazines highlighting local points of interest, various maps for walking, biking, driving throughout Portland's neighborhoods, a few books highlighting Portland. Check-in and out experience was a breeze. Linens were not brand new but fine, Robes provided. The front of the house is along a busy street, so if you are sensitive to traffic noise, I would suggest not booking a room along the front of the house. Also wood floors throughout the house. If you're sensitive to a bit of noise from the floors, would recommend booking on the third floor. At this price point, this is a great place to stay.

Very nice B&B located near Mt. Tabor area. My room was great and the breakfast foods available were excellent. I stayed for a week and was supposed to receive a mid-week clean, but didn't. The house is very quiet but you can hear people above you very easily.

Magnificent building and very handy parking lot. We hope to stay there from now on when we visit family in Portland, OR. The grounds are lovely. The rooms are beautifully restored and up to date on details for convenience.

I loved staying at this B&B! The off street parking is a plus. The location is excellent for walking and getting around, just a block from the #4 bus which will whisk you to city center. A soak in the claw foot tub at night is heaven! There is a bit of street noise at times so bring your ear plugs for sleeping.

My boyfriend and I booked a room on the third floor and it was really nice and spacious. We would definitely stay here again.

Hi, we only had one night in Portland, and had to leave by 3:30 am to make our early flight back home. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to explore the rest of the house, but we were extremely happy with the ease of access to the studio room. The room was lovely, and very clean. It was perfect for those of us who prefer not to stay in large hotels, but that don't necessarily need or want the chatty inn owner/ innkeeper experience. The only problem we had was a moment of patchy internet in the evening. had we not had to leave so early, we probably wouldn't even be needing the internet as we'd be out and about enjoying the neighborhood. Will definitely stay here again!

The Evermore Guesthouse is wonderful. It's a perfectly restored Victorian building with all the details in place: lovely stained glass, beautiful patterned wood floors, claw-footed tubs, and period appropriate but comfortable furniture. The location is great, as it's right next to both a super cool neighborhood AND two well-serviced bus lines to make visiting Portland without a car super easy. I would recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat, but with two caveats: the breakfast options are lovely but you do have to do your own dishes (I don't mind, but others might), and there's not a single TV in the building (again, I don't mind but others might). This DIY component is present in many aspects of the inn: the rooms don't get maid service every day but you CAN change your own sheets and towels; you may arrive to a house without an innkeeper but you do get the code to the front door in a confirmation email. If that's fine with you (it's fine with me!), then this is the perfect place to stay.
We are happy to change the linens on request (as stated in the welcome letter guests receive upon arrival), we just don't make it automatic- this method saves resources and lowers rates. Don't hesitate to ask us for any room service during your stay, it is free and gladly done. Thank you for the kind review and glad that you enjoyed your stay :)

My wife and I have stayed at the Evermore 4 or 5 times since it opened and are very happy there. But potential guests should know that it is not a traditional Bed and Breakfast. Breakfast is self prepared, usually toast or bagel or cereal. None of the fantastic Irish breakfasts we enjoyed in a recent trip to the "Emerald Isle". And that is fine with us, we are content with a simple breakfast. During our recent stay, one guest was unhappy with the limited breakfast choices. So be forewarned.

For my first experience in Portland - this was a great place to stay. It had all the amenities as well as a friendly, safe & respectful vibe. The mansion was close to dining and shopping. The interior architecture & layout is amazing! The really nice part is that they have a small parking lot, so you don't have to park your rental car on the street like most residence. I stayed in the studio & it had a side door you could enter from the parking lot. The wifi was easy to connect with & fast. Very nice all around!

Overall the stay was pleasant. The only issue was that my daughter found the pictures on the wall to be a little eerie, especially the one over the fireplace. It was a beautiful house and it was nice that we were able to make our own breakfast. Furthermore, not having to do a formal check in/out made things much easier, especially considering the times at which we were coming and going. :)

My mom and I were in Portland for my brother's wedding recently, and we stayed in the Studio Apartment at Evermore Guesthouse. We arrived very late in the evening, which was no problem because we had the code to the front door. The Studio was easy to find with the instructions provided in the email that I received. The house itself is beautiful and well kept. The Studio is a great size, with a bathroom and kitchenette. There were super comfy robes hanging in the closet and the bed was really comfy. I didn't once see another person there, although I could hear them in the morning, so I like that it felt pretty private, even though we were technically sharing a house with other people. All in all, it was a really pleasant stay, and I'd definitely stay there again.

What a lovely place to see Portland from. The kitchen is really fully equipped, so it would be easy to fix a meal, but I opted for the wonderful muffins, and fruit. Making the reservation and getting answers to my questions before arrival was handled smoothly. The entrance is actually on Ceasar Chavez, which was confusing arriving in the dark. I never saw a soul, but I was just resting my head while visiting my son and new granddaughter. I brought them by, and they were very impressed.

Our second stay (and not our last) in this beautiful, guesthouse. We stayed in the 3rd floor suite, which was spacious, comfortable and offered a nice view of the foggy streets. We had no occasion to dine on the premises this time, but only because there are so many excellent restaurants within walking distance. Warm and welcoming, this is the perfect spot for a romantic stay in picturesque Portland.

My fiancée and I stayed at the Evermore for the final 2 nights of a 10 day trip. It was a perfect and relaxing end to the journey, not to mention very affordable in comparison to other places we had stayed earlier. We will certainly be staying there again in our future Portland trips. Thank you!

Lots to like about this place... Rooms are clean and large. Bed was the BEST BED we've slept in away from home. The place is quiet. Close to some great shopping, restaurants and bars. There is a zip car parking lot at the nearby 7-11. Breakfast is serve yourself, with bagels, pastries, yogurt, bananas, and the coffee is excellent. Help yourself to new towels. The laundry is in basement if you need it. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Even though we're not fans of the shower situation, it was fine. Wouldn't stop us from coming back.. Just don't prefer shower curtains in claw foot tubs, but it was clean. The 2-spigot sink was another issue with extremely hot water & ice cold water, and the 2 could not be mixed, but again, the good far outweighed the bad. We would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in the SE area....

The Evermore Guesthouse is quite convenient to Reed College, at least by car. It is a shortish walk to Hawthorne Street and Division Street where there are places to eat and some funky/good stores. The rooms are comfortable and there is a wide variety of food available in the morning. Lots of room for parking. Reasonably priced.

We had a wonderful suite on the 3rd floor with a seating area, 2 balconies and enormous bathroom. The public areas were spacious with newspapers, current magazines and computer. There was free wifi throughout. The only disappointment was the breakfast which was an ordinary continental selection. However there was a full kitchen if you wished to cook. Guests were expected to wash their own dishes.

Lovely, well-maintained, old-style "colonial mansion". My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Our spacious second floor room was very comfortable and beautiful. The large, open first floor was inviting with it's spacious living room and dining room. The breakfast amenities were very good including bagels, English muffins, pastries, gluten-free muffins, scones, fruit, etc. Maybe spent a little more than we would have liked, but it was well worth the value. Will definitely stay here again!

There was a great variety of regular and organic breakfast fare, the bus line was only two blocks away, the staff was friendly, unobtrusive and helpful. This B&B was easy to find, located close to our family whom we were visiting, is clean as a whistle and quiet (there are no TVs or radios), with all the conveniences we wanted, including the ability to cook when we wished. Everything we needed was close at hand. We did not need any service during our stay. The bed was comfortable, the shower and sink worked well, and the bedroom was large while still being cozy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and the nightly price was reasonable. The other guests we met were most cordial!

Seriously, we do. We've stayed in pretty much every room and they are all great. I think my fave is the 3rd floor skylight. The only thing that ever bums me out is that the bathrooms always seem only semi-clean instead of the super-clean that makes me feel at home in hotels and guest houses. Just not super detail oriented. This last time the curtain surrounding the claw foot tub had a ton of the pink mildew, so really it should have been taken down and washed in bleach water. But otherwise an awesome place in a great location.

We stayed in the second floor suite for 2 nights while touring Portland Colleges. The location for proximity to Reed was ideal, and the proximity to restaurants on Division (including the super cool food cart pods) was even better. Add in the second hand shops on Hawthorne and you have a truly counterculture experience! The room was wonderful; the common rooms lovely. Having a parking lot in a busy part of town provided added convenience. If we had any complaint (and we really didn't), the breakfast offerings were just kind of ordinary. Maybe something more interesting and fresh -- like breakfast waffles from the food carts -- would have pushed the stay right over the top. If we end up back in Portland Again we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

This is my third stay at the Evermore. Obviously, I like it or I would not return. However, this time I had the third floor skylight room. It was fine for me, I had no luggage and I am not very tall. If you are tall, if you have a suitcase, and if you are not able to negotiate a narrow staircase while you are carrying the suitcase, you should choose another room.

We really enjoyed staying at the Evermore Guesthouse. It was a charming place to spend the weekend while visiting Portland. The rooms were very nice and roomy. The bed was very comfortable, and the inside of the house was very clean. The location was great and the free parking right outside the door was very convenient. They were working on the balcony out front so hopefully that is cleaned up and painted now. The only suggestions I would have is to spruce up the outside of the house with a good power washing or new paint and keep the porches and sidewalks swept. Also, even though they are probably trying to keep noise levels down, a small TV in each room would have been nice to have.

Lovely room. Breakfast was stale the second day. Two coffee pots would be better. One was justnot enough. Some guests seemed ready to fight for it. We needed an iron and if staff was not there (which was most of the time) we would have had to call, which somehow feels intrusive. Maybe an iron in each room would be good?: Washington Washington

The place was clean and comfortable, but somewhat noisy as it is situated right next to a major road, with traffic passing at all times. The off street parking was a distinct advantage as was the location in the Clinton area. Very handy for buses into town and places to eat within walking distance. Breakfast was pretty makeshift, although you could use the kitchen to cook something hot if you wanted to. We never saw anyone on the staff although the guesthouse seemed to be full. The room would have been more cheery with some art work on the walls - they were all bare. The deep bath tub was a luxury which we appreciated after a day walking around town. All in all, it was fine for location, but noisy.

There was no service, and the breakfast was minimal
Regarding the service, we put in detail on our website, as well as the welcome letter left on guest's bed at check-in, that while we do not automatically perform daily room service we are more than happy to provide any cleaning or towels/linens upon request. We have found this helps keep costs down significantly, which we would otherwise have to pass on in the room rates, while still providing a level of service that all our guests are happy with. Regarding the breakfast, we do try to make it as clear as possible in our listings that the breakfast is continental, and our website goes a step further by detailing the offerings. Guests which prefer to get a breakfast cooked for them have an array of amazing restaurants within a short walk!

I would come back to this guesthouse. It's in a great location relative to the whole East Side with easy access to Hawthorne, Division, and Belmont. I appreciated that it was a guesthouse without the whole B&B experience: a very clean, simple room that was spacious without the feeling of corporate lodging. The house is on busy, noisy street, but we did not find it too intrusive.

Stayed in the room at the top of the house. The room is spacious, clean, quiet and has air conditioning which was nice since we were there when the weather was a bit warm. The bathroom is updated clean and nice. The entire house is beautiful and quiet. I like the selection of breakfast items and you can eat anytime because you make it yourself. Great location for walking to restaurants, shops, everything is close. I will stay there again.

We stayed one night during or Pacifc Northwest road trip. Our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived but no biggie. We waited in the parlor and just relaxed and it was ready in no time. We stayed in the studio which had its own bathroom and kitchen. The room was very comfortable and well kept and very nice decor and paint colors. Only complaint is there was no TV or even a radio so you have to like to read or bring your own entertainment device; also, the shower head in the bathroom points directly at the door entry to the stall so you can't reach in and turn on the water to let it run without getting the floor all wet. Minor quibbles. We would stay here again and can recommend it highly.

My husband and I were in town for a wedding and didn't want to stay at a 'regular' hotel. I booked the 2nd floor Bay Window room online and was very pleasantly surprised! The 'medium' sized room was easily larger than hotel rooms we've stayed in, and we loved the original detailing--built-ins, stained glass, clawfoot tub, etc. However, the room was very nicely upgraded with modern conveniences like air conditioning :) We would definitely stay here again!

We got to the Evermore much later than we hand intended, and only stayed the night,so didn't feel as though we were able to take full advantage it. After moving our daughter into her new place in Portland, we wea delighted to fine a cool, clean room with a very comfortable bed. We plan on staying here often.

My wife and I stayed here just a single night, but the Evermore Guesthouse is now at the top of our list for places to stay in Portland. We found the 2nd floor Bay Window room to fit our needs perfectly with a spacious room, claw foot tub\shower, and frigid air conditioning. The house itself is beautifully restored and the common areas are warm and inviting. The available breakfast was simple and exactly as advertised. The surrounding neighborhood is a perfect fit with the house.

Great customer service. I initially booked for four nights. Then my plans changed and I had to cancel the middle two nights. Was easily able to do so, no questions asked. House is GORGEOUS. Plenty of food for breakfast in a serve-yourself style. Vegan items were clearly indicated, which I appreciated. Another nice touch is that you're allowed to use the community areas (and bathroom) after 11 a.m. checkout, so if you have some downtime between 11 a.m. and your departure time, you don't have to wander around town looking for a place to be. You can hang out at the house and use the wifi.

Older home with lovely appointments and great feel. Privacy was stellar (saw almost no employees during stay -- felt like going to my own home. Beautiful wooden framing and old furniture with quiet, peaceful feel. Much light through large windows and patios. Will return again. Thanks.

We stayed on the third floor with air conditioning this August and we were very comfortable, despite it being 90 degrees in Portland. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. I love that we were able to go downstairs in the morning and fix our own breakfast from a variety of different options. The guesthouse is located in walking distance to lots of delicious restaurants. We will definitely stay here again.

The rooms were very nice. Enjoyed the patio. The bathroom was a disappointment because the hand sink was only hot or cold water. Could not mix for warm. I expected to have someone in residence at all times. We saw no one for the three days we were there. Would probably stay again.

The fire alarm went off twice the first night I was there - for no reason at all and again the next night too. They did give me a small refund which was appreciated and they did fix the problem. The kitchen is self serve and self clean up - no dishwasher. There are several very good restaurants in the area within walking distance if you don't want cereal, bagels and muffins in the morning. The house itself is lovely and is clean and convenient to city bus, if you don't want or have a car.

Had a 3 rd floor room, couldn't have our usual 2nd floor room. I liked it better than I expected. Nice layout for such a small space!

We stayed in the large third floor suite (two private balconies!) and even at the high season rate of $150 this was an excellent deal, better than a more expensive downtown hotel. Communal kitchen so we cooked eggs to go with the inn's various fruits, scones, muffins (even gluten free), cereals and other continental items. Frig stocked with juices, even almond milk and other specialties. Friendly staff. Two living rooms to enjoy (with board games and such). We played dominoes with wine before heading out for dinner. This is in a residential area very close to restaurants and shopping, a plus for us. Highly recommended. -- C Wille

My wife and I stayed in the 3rd floor suite while we were visiting Portland in June '14 for a few days before our wedding to soak in the sites and get a little rest before our big day. Everything at the Evermore Guesthouse was simply perfect and was exactly what we needed before the stress of our wedding. The room was very spacious. Coming from St. Louis we were suffering a bit of jet lag, so we were up before most people. But the coffee maker was ready for us to start a pot and breakfast was easy to find and very good. This was fine with us as we wanted to get as much site seeing in as possible. Overall, a wonderful place to stay. We will definitely be back the next time we visit!

My husband and I stayed in the third floor suite for four nights and absolutely loved it! The room was big, bright, and clean. There was also a mini fridge in the room which was nice. The bathroom is also very large and has been wonderfully remodeled. I enjoyed a good soak in the claw-foot tub and the shower is extra large with two shower heads. The communal areas of the guesthouse are also large, clean, and inviting. The neighborhood is great and there is a bus stop right outside for easy transit. I would definitely stay here again!

Evermore is a lovely old house. The third floor suite is huge with a spacious and comfortable sitting area and two decks. The double shower could easily accommodate a whole family, and there is a deep, old-fashioned tub for soaking. Noise from Cesar Chavez Ave can be loud if windows are opened, but the walls are thick and we scarcely heard a sound from other guests when we were in our room. The bed is really comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the guests are, too. Evermore is walking distance from many good restaurants. Parking is hard to find in this area, making the free parking especially welcome.
4.6 on June 13, 2014
We stayed 6 nights in the 3rd Floor Skylight room and were very pleased with the entire stay. With reservation confirmation, you are emailed the code to access the building--super convenient because you can arrive as late as you want and go directly to your room without having to mess with check-in procedures. We're not the type to want to mingle with all the other guests, so the breakfast set-up appealed to us, which was, for all intents and purposes, take it or leave it. And, I have to add, they have the best bananas. Not sure where they come from, but they're better than the ones in FL. It's in a great location--just a block south of Division St.--up and coming neighborhood with plenty of trendy restaurants. Plus the neighborhood is friendly to bikers. (Pick up a bike map in the dining area.) Downtown is only a 4-mile bike ride. I had occasion to run into the staff several times. Anna was particularly friendly and helpful when I questioned her about the availability of the laundry facilities (guests may use after hours--located in basement). And the maintenance man was kind enough to give me a tutorial on how to use the washer/dryer. The skylight room is cute. Various shades help keep out the morning light. A small hallway connects the main room &the bathroom--you'll find that if you stand outside in the main guest hallway, there are exterior doors to each (your key works for both) and they're simply connected on the inside by the private hallway. It's unusual but it works. A small balcony seats two people right off the private hallway. There's a roomy closet in the hallway along with extra shelf space in the bathroom. Excellent mattress--we both slept like logs. And even though we had our mobile phone, the community computer in the lobby area was also convenient. All in all, a great place to stay. Should we get back to Portland again--and I'm sure we will--we'll definitely look to stay at the Evermore Guesthouse again.

The Evermore Guesthouse was the perfect place to stay while we were in Portland for our daughter's graduation from Lewis and Clark Law School. The Studio Apartment, with its wonderfully appointed little kitchen, was quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed the old fashioned charm of the Evermore. The owners of the guesthouse have done a wonderful job of making it a home away from home.

I had never stayed in a guesthouse and had previously only stayed downtown in some wonderful hotels. I will now make this my primary place to stay when I visit Portland. It couldn't be easier or more lovely. Every detail is so thought out from instructions for checking in, parking, the key system, the kitchen and living areas, the impeccably clean and comfortable room and bath, the kindest and most helpful staff, and the beauty and warmth of the home. Just a delightful stay. Thank you.

The Evermore Guesthouse was lovely. We stayed in the third floor suite, and it was a beautiful room! It was also the perfect location for us. A short walk to our daughter's house, and an even shorter walk to shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I spent 6 days at the Evermore Guesthouse while we were in Portland, it was our first time visiting. We were pleasantly surprised how close it was to restaurants, breweries, shopping, etc. The neighborhood was very nice, always felt safe, and beautiful to walk through. We stayed in the 2nd Floor Suite, loved the large soaker tub, had plenty of room for us and all of our things, the balcony was large and the trees in front of it gave privacy. Saw the staff around the house throughout the day, alway friendly and helpful. After a few days it started to feel very homey and comfortable, I miss it and would definitely stay again if every in Portland.

My stay at the Evermore Guesthouse was perfect! I like to have my own space and it was nice knowing that someone wasn't going to come in my room in the middle of the day, but they were available if I needed anything. The first night I stayed in the 2nd floor suite and it was spectacular! The private balcony is gorgeous and the room is huge! The only issue I had was with the shower... There is a faucet to fill the tub and a hand-held shower spray nozzle, but I couldn't get the top shower head to turn on. I'm not sure if it was just me... but it didn't look like it was actually hooked up. It wasn't really a big deal though. The next 4 nights I stayed in the Studio Apartment which is on the first floor. It was less fancy than the 2nd floor suite but it had everything I needed (and a modern shower, which I liked!) I also liked havnig a kitchen, always nice for a longer stay. The suite also has its own separate entrance which was handy for me going to and from work. During my transition between rooms, the staff moved my (heavy) suitcase from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor studio apartment during the day while I was out, which was so helpful! When I came in, I didn't know where the studio was, so I called the after-hours number which was answered promptly and I was guided to my room. The continental breakfast was perfect. I liked that there were cererals, milk, and juice along with an assortment of other things. The dining table is spacious and there were always newspapers available to read. All in all a great stay and I would recommend it to anyone! Southeast Portland is a great place to visit, there is lots around the Guesthouse that you can walk to!
All the showers are working, there is a knob on the faucet that is pulled to activate the top shower. Sorry it was confusing, feel free to ask us for help at any time and we can easily remedy these mysteries!

Everything was clean and decor was inviting. All the details were attended to and we were very comfortable visiting in the shared areas with our family in town. Very cute place to stay! It's not a traditional bed and breakfast, meaning nobody is there to cook breakfast for guests. Therefore, I wasn't sure how to rate the "Dining" experience at this place, so I'll just say it exceeded my expectations. There is a basic breakfast spread every morning that includes fruit, bagels, cereal, toast, and various pastries (with some gluten-free and/or vegan options), and the option of using the kitchen to cook your own meals. There is a computer with internet access located in the community area downstairs, but no printer. I needed to print something out and the innkeeper there was nice enough to let me use their office printer to do so. If you find yourself needing to print something out during your stay here, just ask the friendly innkeeper if you can use the office computer. Just be sure to do so before around 2 or 3pm since that is generally when the office will close.

This was my first visit to the Evermore Guesthouse after previously visiting its sister guesthouse, the Bluebird. They are both outstanding for comfort, value and location. It's hard to say, but I may like the Evermore a little better. Although it fronts on a busy street (not an issue for me, as a city dweller), it's located on a residential street and surrounded by small but lovely grounds. If you are driving, a great advantage is the Evermore's parking lot, but there's also a bus stop right across the street, with a direct connection to the Hollywood Transit Center with trains to the airport and downtown. I stayed in the 3rd floor skylight room and highly recommend it. Both locations are great for their casual, do-it-yourself breakfasts and inviting common areas. I'm truly looking forward to my next visit!

This is a great find in SE Portland.

We stayed at Evermore while visiting Reed College. Location is perfect, as long as you have a car, with restaurants close by, a supermarket up the road, and the college a short drive away. The house is absolutely gorgeous in the Arts and Crafts style. Scrupulously clean. Beds were amazingly comfortable with generous pillows, and the room in general was inviting and pleasant to spend time in. I loved having a terrace. The arrangement whereby you can use the kitchen to cook your own food is great. Breakfast foods are left out and you organize your own breakfast. I loved this aspect: no interactions I didn't choose to have, and a real easiness and relaxed atmosphere. I would absolutely stay here again if I visit Portland again. Highly recommended as an alternative to a hotel. I only wished I had had more time to spend on the terrace under the beautiful moss-covered tree.

The location was ideal, so many restaurants within walking distance; we did a progressive dinner at Sunshine Tavern, Pok Pok and Ava Genes. St. Honore Boulangerie for breakfast - their pastries are amazing! We stayed in the 3rd Floor suite, which was beautiful, clean and quite big. The double headed shower was a treat. We did not eat at Evermore, but they had a great kitchen that was available for cooking and a nice looking continental breakfast setup. We peeked in the other rooms and they are all great - ours was the biggest, but the pictures on their website are true to form, they don't mislead you into thinking that you are getting a bigger room than you are. We took a video of our room and have shared it with many of our friends who like to escape to the city (we live in wine country, just south of Portland) and I know that we will be back to stay at Evermore. Thank you!

Absolutely recommended!

Even in a snow and ice storm the Evermore Guesthouse is a very comfortable and interesting place to stay, I was there for seven days. Plenty of very good restaurants and coffee houses around which was helpful considering that the city was pretty much closed down for the weekend when I arrived. Right on the bus line into the city. The Evermore is very welcoming. I was in the skylight room and it was very nice, clean and comfortable. I did not use the kitchen or take advantage of the breakfast so consider the 3 stars as a Not Applicable in my case. Once the snow came I could not get up the hill into the parking lot but there was on street parking that worked just fine. I would stay again and hope to this later this year. And I would recommend it to friends.

My daughter has been in Portland for 6 years now and we have always stayed at Kimpton's Hotel Monaco. It's a terrific hotel, but - it's not convenient anymore as she has settled into Southeast. And it's expensive. So I turned to alternatives and found this guest house. This is not a bed and breakfast, but a guest house. I hadn't even known there was a difference :) At the Evermore the rooms are wonderful, private and clean, all with private baths. There are lots! of breakfast foods available and you help yourself. You can grab a muffin and some fruit, help yourself to cereal, or even make yourself pancakes and settle in with the paper. It is not to be confused with a continental breakfast, much more varied and better. The kitchen is surprisingly well equipped and you are welcome to use it any time of day. You could make a whole dinner. Pots, pans, knives (good ones, sharp), oils, spices, all ready to go. The location can hardly be beat. It is on the corner of Clinton and Chavez/39th. I could walk to my daughter's house - or even better - meet in the middle at Ava Gene's!

This fine old mansion came as a complete surprise to me; its period amenities are in perfect restoration. It is quiet and very well located on two important bus lines with frequent service, one to city center in about ten minutes and the other crosstown. I don't plan on staying anywhere else in my future visits to Portland. I didn't find a single thing to complain about, and the price was very reasonable.

I normally stay at a sister property but couldn't find a room for the dates I needed - lucky for me. I loved Evermore. I was wowed from the moment I walked in and saw the staircase and stained glass. My room was on the third floor, a hike with luggage, but my room was huge and beautiful with a sweet balcony. Evermore management isn't always visible to guests but they were available and very helpful when I needed anything. For a guest it's as if you have a house all to yourself! There's lots of shops and restaurants nearby so the location is great and the price of the room was a real value. I'll be back!

The 3rd floor suite was large and quiet. Very clean with large seating area. The bathroom had both a large clawfoot tub and a huge shower for 2. Heating adjustable and kept away any dampness. Very comfortable room. Breakfast options very nice, quality items. You have access to a kitchen which you can cook in if you desire but there is no hot breakfast prepared. It worked well for us. The gal that takes care of the guest house is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We didn't have a rental car while staying there and were able to walk everywhere. There were restaurants, coffee shops, bars, grocery stores, drug stores, movie houses, clothing shops, etc. all within walking distance. It is very safe to walk in that area. There is a wireless internet connection but not one single TV in the entire house so if you want any outside news or entertainment bring a laptop or portable device that can connect to the internet.

The house was huge and beautiful, with incredible architectural details and history. Location is excellent, close to Division SE and spots to eat, drink coffee, wine etc. There is lots of room - my particular room was very large, uber clean and comfy. This is not a traditional B & B where a hot breakfast is served but rather a "guest house" meaning there is coffee, tea, muffins, bread and cereal etc. You also have full use of the kitchen to make a hot breakfast (pancake mix and oatmeal provided, but if you want eggs, you need to buy them). Overall, I'd stay there again although this was on the high end/pricey side.

Our recent stay at the Evermore was outstanding. We chose it mainly for the location, but it exceeded our expectations in many ways. It is a bit more casual than most of the B&B's in which we stayed, which worked perfectly for our travel needs. For example, there was no proscribed breakfast time, great for us because we like to jog before breakfast and then need a little cool-down time before eating.

I enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Evermore Guesthouse and it will be my first choice for return visits to Portland. The home is lovely. The studio apartment where we stayed was private, quiet, comfortable. We even had a small dinner party for four in the tiny kitchen. Conveniently located, we were able to walk to nearly everything we wanted to see - from Laurel Park to a mountain park, to all the vegan restaurants I wanted to try, to boutiques and to my daughter's apartment. The continental breakfast was refreshingly generous...that means, to me, not just muffins. In fact, vegan fare was also available. We loved the place.

I had stayed the previous night at Evermore's sister guesthouse, the Bluebird. That was adorable, but this place is even nicer. It's an absolutely gorgeous place with stained glass and all the bathrooms are en suite. The room was gorgeous, and there were beautiful built in cabinets and lots of windows. I really loved it. So much so, that I've made a reservation to go back there next month.

I have a very small home in the neighborhood of Evermore, and I booked a room for my recent out-of-town guests. They had the 2nd floor suite and loved it. I thought it might be too noisy because of the busy street, but it is very well sound insulated. They were comfortable and had a nice place to relax. There isn't much other lodging in this area, and it's just perfect for my needs. Will book again the next time I have visitors.

It was my first time staying here and first time in Portland. The room was beautiful and I'm so glad I chose Evermore.

The Evermore Guest House was attractive (understatement for this beautiful home), comfortable (in every way), and quiet. At times I felt like we were coming home to our own home. We stayed in the studio apartment and I would like to stay there again next time we visit. And, I must say that Dave's bread is the best:)

This guesthouse is located in a beautiful building in a nice residentsil neighborhood and us nicely furnished. My room was clean and we'll furnished. Continental breakfast was provided. I had received check- in information via e-mail, so my arrival was easy. I stayed one night and never saw or interacted with a single human employee. Luckily I didn't need any information while I was there.

We spent 5 nights at the Evermore in Oct 2013 and it was lovely. We stayed in the Third Floor Suite. It was very spacious and had 2 pretty balconies, 2 large closets, robes, super comfy bed. The bathroom was awesome- huge double shower and wonderful large tub. The only drawback was some street noise that wasn't terrible but could bother some people. Other rooms (the second floor King for example) would be quieter. The breakfast was great, coffee strong and fresh. The house itself is beautiful, and there is ample parking. We found fun places to eat, drink, and hear music just a few blocks away on Division.
4.2 on October 24, 2013
We stayed two nights in the self contained studio. It suited us perfectly. Clean, quiet and off street parking. Adequate breakfast provided. Laundry in basement. Easy walk to great restaurants and bars and only about 15 minutes by car from airport. Highjly recommended. (we stayed at a b&b in the same area two weeks before and thought that the guesthouse was far better value).

I am in love with this place. I wish I would have found it sooner so that I could have stayed three nights as opposed to just one. It was convenient, the staff was friendly and helpful and the accommodations were lovely. I came for a much needed get away, brining just my six month old and leaving my toddler at home with Dad. So, needless to say, I would have been very disappointed if this place wasn't great. It exceeded my expectations. I loved that it was in walking distance of all the great south east restaurants and shops as well!

I love this place and will return. It is a cozy and classy place for a guesthouse. It was quiet and out of the way but still close enough to get places. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a more hands-off, clean and quiet place to stay.

We stayed for 4 nights in the 2nd floor King room. Our stay was great overall. The location is in a fantastic neighborhood with very close-by bus stops (like 20 feet from the door) and was easy to get to from the airport using the light rail/bus lines. Lots of restaurants, bars, etc. within walking distance. Making a reservation was easy, as was "checking-in" (already had front door key code from reservation email). My only possible critique was that in the bathroom, the sink appeared original to the house, which was charming, but the separate hot and cold taps with very hot and very cold water in streams on either side of the sink made washing hands/faces a bit more difficult/uncomfortable. There was also a loud vibrating noise (loud enough to wake us up) that occurred briefly during a couple of our nights there- maybe a hot water heater or pipes? Honestly, those are the only things I can think of to complain about! We would stay here again!
We fixed the vibration noise, glad that you let us know. The handles we'll have to look into, at the moment for warm water we recommend using the drain stop and filling the sink a bit. Thanks for the review and feedback, and glad that you enjoyed your stay!

This is a fine guesthouse for a Portland stay. Location in Southeast is excellent. Good parking. Comfortable. Cleanly. It is a "make your own breakfast" kind of place -- which was perfect for us, since it allowed us to come and go as we wished and we were not distracted by hosts or other guests. More like an inn, than a B&B, which is exactly what we wanted.

We had a lovely stay, the room was large and well appointed, and the location was good. Food options were sadly lacking, and I was surprised that we saw no one the entire time we were there--I even had to call to get in the building when we arrived at 3:00pm. Kinda strange, but quite nice.

Absolutely lovely house with spacious rooms full of character. A great location, too. The only surprise was that we had to prepare our own breakfast and wash our dishes, so that’s why I rate “service” as below average. This was no big deal, but future guests should be aware. I would certainly return.
5 on September 25, 2013
The house was absolutely exquisite. My room was very large with beautiful picture windows. I loved the solitude and peacefulness of the house. The breakfast arrangement was just perfect for me - come down when you wanted, a large assortment of healthy choices. I felt like I was in my own home. The bed was very comfortable, the shower worked wonderfully and the little dressing room with the large closets was very unique and appreciated. Also, the home is very centrally located, right in the middle of the South East. Close to great restaurants and tons of great little shops and boutiques. Also, the price was very reasonable. Will definitely come back again and again when I visit my favorite city, Portland. Donna M. Incline Village, Lake Tahoe, Nevada

The Evermore is like coming home and you have a full time housekeeper. The home is safe, beautiful, clean and smells good. The kitchen even stocks food for us 33% Gluten-Intolerant folks. It is a true find!

We stayed here for one night over Labor Day Weekend and thought the accomodations were great. We stayed in the 2nd Floor King room with our own private bath. The room and bathroom were spotless and quaint, but modern...not too kitschy. The location is convenient for dining/exploring the SE area of Portland. Our only issue was with the door code to get into the B&B wasn't working when we arrived (luckily someone was inside when we arrived) and when we got back later in the evening the door code had changed again. A little confusing. But I would love to come back and stay here another time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Evermore Guesthouse. The house was so charming yet had every modern convenience. We stayed in two rooms, both with comfortable beds. We like it that the breakfast was self-serve with lots of very healthy options. Staff offered helpful suggestions for our visit. It was conveniently located in that we were able to hop on a bus right outside the door and go wherever we wanted to go. We will definitely go back to Evermore.

Wonderful alternative to a standard hotel room. Great neighborhood feel and lots to do in the immediate area. Never saw any of the folks working there but never needed to. I'm sure they were always available if needed so no problem there. Will stay there again when visiting Portland.

We stayed one night in the third floor suite at Evermore. The suite was HUGE, with a roomy sitting area, a desk, and an oversize bathroom with a double shower and a large claw foot tub. There were also two (albeit small) balconies. The room was exceptionally clean and everything was tastefully done. We didn't end up meeting any of the staff, but everything was explained in a nice note on the bed. And having the kitchen open and breakfast do-it-yourself suited us very well. We made pancakes and enjoyed having no fixed dining hours. If we come to Portland again, we're certainly going to try and stay in the third floor suite at Evermore again.

I found this wonderful, beautiful and reasonable guest house and am so glad I did. The house is a beautiful example of a gracious home form another era. What a thrill to be able to experience that alone. The rooms were spacious and every room has it own bathroom. It was nice to have breakfast available for us at our own time. The use of a refrigerator was an appreciated extra as I am trying to watch my diet and could store my own special yogurt etc. the staff was very accommodating when my needs changed and made my stay very pleasant. The neighborhood was a delight. I went walking and found both gardens to admire and fun small shops to explore. We had several family obligations in downtown Portland and it was easy to get to wherever we were going. I took two to the airport one morning and returned easily with no traffic hassle. I met a friend at the train station and could easily find my way back. So this place has it all, elegance, independence, location and helpful but unobtrusive staff. Unlike some B and Bs you don't need to converse and spend time socializing unless you want to. A + thank you

I had come to Portland this time to see a concert right around the corner from Evermore and I was extremely pleased with my stay. The room was adorable and since we stayed in the studio apartment it was nice to be able to enter straight into our room after a long night. The staff was extremely kind and helpful and the overall feel of the guesthouse was welcoming and wonderful!

We really enjoyed the Evermore Guesthouse. It's a beautiful Arts and Crafts home. Our room on the 3rd floor was spacious. It was a bit noisy from the traffic on the street below when you open the porch doors. It's in a great neighborhood. No frills breakfast, but we like that. Serve yourself, no one hovering over you making a big breakfast. Very cozy. We would stay there again for sure.

Great location, easy to get places once you've mastered Portland's layout. When we first entered the house, we were immediately impressed by the interior and furnishings of this beautiful and solid old home. Great off-street parking and convenient to a Stumptown Coffee Roasters on SE Division street. The studio has an amazing well-equipped kitchen.

Space, privacy and comfort in a nice neighborhood and at a fair price are what you can expect. Great parking in the backand lovely old trees surround the home. The breakfasts are basic(bagels, toast muffins and good juice ,fruit and coffee that you serve yourself (which we liked). We will go back.
3.8 on July 30, 2013
We loved our second floor suite at Evermore. Very comfortable and spacious, with a nice shaded balcony. Downside is that the house is right on a busy main street, so it was somewhat loud sitting out on the balcony. Windows were really good though and the sound didn't bother us at night. Common rooms were very spacious and elegant, if a little spare in the decor. We are more used to the bed-and-breakfast scene than the guest house scene; and we felt a little odd never even meeting the proprietors during our 4-day stay. Location is in a middle class neighborhood in southeast. Easy to get around with a car. The big downside was the very mediocre continental breakfast. Bagels were hard or stale; pastries tasted as if they were frozen, not fresh. Fruit consisted of bananas or apples (and this during Portland's fabulous summer fruit season). "Continental" is fine with me, but quality could have been higher.

Beautiful house. Lovely room. Mediocre do it yourself breakfast.

If you're planning a stay in Portland then you should DEFINITELY book a room at the Evermore! I was so pleasantly surprised at how lovely and CLEAN and BEAUTIFUL the whole house was. Peaceful, quiet, nicely shaded, tastefully decorated. We stayed in one of the 2nd floor King rooms with a soaking tub in the bathroom and it was fantastic, refreshing, just what we needed. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating but they also give you your space. The breakfast is decent, nice selection of pastries and fresh fruits. If you're like us and travel via public transit, the Evermore is conveniently located right near the 75 Bus stop, which takes you right to the Hollywood Transit Center to connect you to the airport or the City Center via the MAX line. Also, a short walk from the house takes you to Division street, which has a charming neighborhood feel and is lined with fantastic restaurants, cafes, and vintage clothing shops. Cannot recommend this place enough. If were ever back in Portland we will absolutely stay again!
4.2 on July 16, 2013
The third floor suite was huge and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast offerings were perfect for our needs.
3.8 on July 15, 2013
If you're looking for a hands off B&B, the Evermore is perfect. Come and go as you please, use the space, light breakfast, and sleep comfortably. We stayed in the 3rd floor suite and it was incredibly large (double shower, claw-foot tub, full sitting area for 4-6 people, two balconies, king bed, mini-fridge, wireless internet for free, easy off street parking lot) and lovely. The guests were all quiet and the staff was only around a bit to keep everything stocked and clean. No scheduled breakfast with hosts. Only complaint is that house is on a busy street so opening the French doors lets in the traffic noise. We would definitely stay here again!!!
3.6 on July 09, 2013
My boyfriend and I loved the decor which was tasteful and of simple design. We enjoyed the ability to fix our own breakfast using the healthy ingredients provided by the host. Jenna was very gracious and answered our many questions. We especially appreciated the air conditioning because it was hot while we were there!
3.0 on July 09, 2013
We stayed in the 2nd floor suite. There was plenty of room and the king bed was comfortable. The interior of the house is lovely though the furnishings are not consistently high quality or of the same style. Everything was clean and, overall, pleasant. The house is on the corner of Clinton and Cesar Chavez Blvd. The traffic on Cesar Chavez is constant and loud. In our room we always heard road noise. The balcony off our room is hard to enjoy due to the road noise. The exterior of the house needs a good pressure-washing as it has a good bit of mildew and made the balcony harder to enjoy. The neighborhood has a bohemian feel. We walked to restaurants from the house but the walk was sometimes a mile or two (one way). Walking and biking maps are provided at the guesthouse. We had trouble with our air conditioning one night and the offsite help contacted us within 10 minutes and walked us through getting it back in working order. All in all, we did pretty well here but would probably not return since the vibe of the neighborhood wasn't a perfect fit for us.
4.4 on July 06, 2013
Beautiful home and room, immaculately clean. Our room was quiet and cozy and we thought we were the only guests in the house until the next morning. If you like privacy and beautiful surroundings, you will love this place. Breakfast was self service.

Second time here and will stay here again next time I am in Portland. Clean, bright rooms, nice shared kitchen with enough fruit and stuff to get you through the morning, convenient location and attentive staff that will go out of their way to please you and meet your needs. The house itself is beautiful and a pleasure to stay at. Great stay for the price. We really like the third floor room up in the trees, but I have visited every room and could be happy in any of them!

This is a terrific guest house if you want a beautiful craftsman to stay in, don't like fussy housekeeping and want to do your own thing for breakfast. The Evermore is also in a fabulaously convenient location to the southeast area of Portland... easy walking distance to shopping, great restaurants and pubs! Highly recommend and will book again.

I stayed for two nights in June with my husband and nephew. We loved it! Wonderful home in a great location and its own parking lot (a big plus). We stayed in two different rooms because we booked so late, but the staff made our move super easy by doing it for us. This allowed us to take off in the morning without a worry. The Skylight room was really cool. There is a little street noise but this is to be expected with the location and they provide a white-noise thingy that is effective (and entertaining for a 10-year-old). We will stay again when we visit Portland.
3.2 on June 20, 2013
I have stayed at the Evermore in Portland twice and have had great stays but staff are barely visible (which I like) and therefore unavailable if you have a problem. The breakfast is a self help deal with juice, coffee, baked goods, breads-- all carbs, but you can make yourself anything you like if you don't mind shopping and fixing it. We love is place but it is low on service- no daily maid service, for example.
Glad that you have enjoyed staying with us! To clarify: 1. We are always available, usually in person during the day but if not we carry a phone (it's a big house and we clean the guest rooms, do laundry, run errands, have dinner etc). 2. To keep costs down we do not automatically do daily maid service (many people do not want it and would rather not pay for it), though we happily and freely accommodate any requests!

We really like this guesthouse, it is clean, convenient to other Portland places, no hovering "hosts" and guest have free rein in the kitchen. Breakfast pastries not very good, too sweet and poor quality but the other features make up for that..

We had a great stay at this awesome B&B. We booked last minute, so the manager offered us a discount, and the room was much nicer than we had expected.
4.6 on May 26, 2013
We stayed at the Evermore for 4 nights in May in the charming 2nd floor suite. The room, like the rest of the guest house has modern decor, a giant very comfortable king size bed and a fireplace. We did not have a need for the fireplace, but the AC unit did come in handy for some warm sunny weather (glorious!). The clawfoot bathtub is nice, but if you or a roommate are unsteady, be aware the only way in and out of the tub is a BIG step over the side from the floor. The internet access was free and fast, the kitchen appointed nicely with snacks and light breakfast options. We loved our stay in Portland, and this neighborhood is terrific--accessible to the Richmond restaurants, bus line and other amenities like Zip Cars in easy reach by foot. Highly recommend!

I have stayed at the Evermore Guesthouse twice and each time was pleased by the place. It is very convenient to the southeast section of Portland and near a biking street. The rooms each time were clean, contained comfortable beds with nice bedding, and had roomy bathrooms. The room facing the street was noisy and I recommend ear plugs. A room facing the back was much quieter. The arrangement for breakfast was perfect for us. We don't eat much and just want a cup of coffee. There was fruit, breads, coffee, tea available in the kitchen and if guests wish, food could be brought in and prepared, with the caveat of cleaning up after oneself. Refrigerator space and labels were provided for guest food.

For a place to stay in Southeast Portland, this guest house is perfectly lovely and so convenient. The parking lot in back is very helpful to have. This house is a little more grand than the sister property and in spring and summer the flowers on the grounds are very pretty. I have stayed twice and found that the house perfectly suited my needs whiles visiting my student son.

This is a place we would stay at anytime we were in Portland. The charm of staying in a converted grand house cannot compare to the anonymous alternatives of typical hotels. In-laid wood floors, arts and crafts built-ins and rich, dark wood banisters all give a feel you have gone back in time a hundred years ago. We also appreciated the low key way of interacting with the owners. You have access to the kitchen to compose your (simple) breakfast yourself, much like you are in a real home.

I stay at Evermore whenever I'm in Portland visiting my daughter. I think I've stayed there 4 or 5 times now. I think it's wonderful. Beautiful, comfortable, impeccably appointed and clean room in an absolutely gorgeous house. The staff is hands-off (I don't think I saw a single one of them during my entire two-night stay), which is unusual in my admittedly-limited experience with B&Bs. I would have liked to say "hi" and ask them a bit about the house, but given it was a pretty busy weekend for us, I didn't have time to miss it much. I had breakfast plans both mornings, so I didn't eat breakfast there. Everything looked tasty, though, and the other guests seemed to be enjoying the offerings. I really appreciated the use of the basement freezer. I was visiting a friend who'd just had surgery and brought some frozen homemade food with me. It was nice to have someplace to keep it until I could see him on Sunday.

This 100 year old home is much larger and more beautiful than it appears in the photos on line. We were enchanted with the lovely details in the house, lots of built in cabinets, stained and leaded glass, wood inlay floors. It is not a B&B where you have a sit down breakfast served to you and you feel you are staying in someone else's home. This is a guest house and the kitchen is available for you to cook. Plenty of lovely breakfast items, including gluten free, are left for you to eat whenever you would like. Normally a B&B serves things I can't eat, so this was really very nice for us. I would absolutely stay here again.

We were in town to visit my brother in the Hawthorne area and stayed in the studio apartment which was perfect. The set up is great, it is a convenient location for either driving or walking places, and the pricing was extremely reasonable. My only suggestion would be if you want more than one smallish towel per person, I would ask ahead.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Evermore Guesthouse. The room was spacious, the bed comfy, the bathtub luxurious, and my time spent there restorative. You do not see many staff around the place. In fact, my first evening there I was the only person in the entire house. The breakfast is made available at your convenience in the kitchen downstairs. It is well stocked with delicious breakfast foods, and I found the set up to be quite nice. My one complaint was that there was a dirty towel left in the bathroom, to the side of the bath. Everything else seemed quite clean, however, so it appears to have been a simple oversight. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and would stay again if I need accommodation in Portland!

This was a fun time for the two of us to be able to stay on Portland and yet feel at home . It was convenient to be in the neighborhood and the two restaurants nearby were just great food. The beds were really comfortable too.

Delighted to find great muffins and breakfast items from local bakeries, instead of Costco fare.

We spent a week with our sons at the Evermore Guesthouse and had great time at this wonderful old house in a pleasant part of Portland that has been lovingly restored. The weather was rainy so we frequently stayed in and played games and cooked meals together.. The selection of breakfast foods was fabulous, with lots of organic, gluten free treats, sweetened with agave. Each room was different with its individual charm. The staff was prompt in responding to any requests, such as printing out boarding passes. The only problem was with the heating which had to be turned off in order to sleep comfortably at night. Room temperatures were always higher than the numbers reflected on the thermostat.

Excellent location for shopping and food and relaxing.

We were there in early December. I think there was only one other couple staying in the place so it was a bit lonely in the big house. Help was there in the morning and both were delightful young women. Bagels were on the stale side - I assume because there was no one there to eat them. But I'm not saying I didn't like our experience - I would come again at a busier time of year. We really liked the neighborhood, we walked all over just enjoying it. PS: I can't rate the dining because there wasn't any - just a serve-yourself continental breakfast, which was fine with me.

Lovely well kept old house without the overly frue frue decor and hovering hosts. Just right for our style, comfortable and casual.

Exceeded all expectations -- incredibly comfortable bed, spacious, well-appointed, immaculately restored, beautiful view of dramatic trees, excellent selection of breakfast and snack items. Will definitely return!

What a wonderful time we had at the Evermore Guesthouse. We were in the top of the mansion. Our room was elegant and restful. The staff Diane helped us find the Cup and Saucer Cafe. We are looking forward to stay there again.

I enjoyed my extended stay at Evermore. It is a lovely home. The simple self-serve breakfast was fine. My only wish was for the addition of yogurt and/or eggs. The offerings were very carb-heavy.

Beautiful old home, very simply and tastefully decorated. Self-serve breakfast so low key. I was traveling for work and there was plenty of great space to work. Overall a great stay.

We found Evermore after having been overcharged and disappointed elsewhere. It is on a main street in Southeast Portland, which is where our son lives. We were pleased with the hospitality and informality there. We plan to revisit Evermore each time we return to Portland. Bill

Our daughter found this B& B for us. It was a great place to stay ~ comfortable, great value for the price and nice and quiet. It is close to bus lines, which was very handy as we didn't rent a car during our stay.

I recently stayed at the Evermore while attending a workshop in Portland. The house was very cozy and comfortable, the room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The self-serve kitchen was convenient, I could help myself to coffee or a late evening plate for my take out or even cook if I wanted to. Staff were friendly and helpful when I phoned for a couple of questions, and helped me find dining in town within walking distance. I would definitely stay there again.

It was quietly staffed by friendly locals. The place was beautiful, comfortable, convenient. I will definitely stay there again.

The private deck with chairs and tables was perfect for an afternoon spot to read. We enjoyed the quirky floor plan, and the bath was nice, but a shower might have been a better fit for us. Breakfast was adequate, not stunning. The bed was comfortable, and everything was very clean and well kept. We would go again!

My husband and I loved the Evermore Guesthouse! It was easy to find and the door code made check in so easy! We stayed in the third floor skylight room. Our room was beautiful and perfectly clean. The bed was very firm, which wasn't ideal for us. We loved the little balcony and the beautiful bathroom with a claw foot tub! We are active so it was easy for us to walk to the Hawthorne District and around the area and admire the beautiful homes. The DIY breakfast was interesting but we enjoyed the freedom to rise when we wanted and having access to the fridge came in handy. We always found something to eat like cereal or bagels and the coffee was good. We would definitely recommend the Guesthouse though we would probably seek out a room where the bed is less firm!

We like the comfort of the bedroom and bathroom and the relaxed ambiance. We were able to prepare lunches in the kitchen for our daily outings. The wireless set up is great. So is the nice long dining table that encourages socializing with other guests.

Caveat - I am completely insane for writing this as it's going to make it harder to stay here. When I stayed at the sister property, Bluebird Guesthouse, it reminded me of a Reed House, just nicer, quieter, and cleaner. With muffins. After scoping out their site for this trip for Reed Leadership Weekend, I thought I would treat myself to a step up, Evermore. And when I rolled in at 10 pm it blew my mind because THIS USED TO BE A REED HOUSE! It was called the Wedding House, rented out to students who, I believe, froze the pipes over a cold winter break, leading the landlord back to renting it for weddings. I have actually attended a Reed student's wedding there. Anyway, it's the typical deal, you get a passcode for the door, never see the owners, and the room I picked was great because it had a private kitchen and dining area. All guests are welcomed to use the main kitchen, but the private kitchen was sweet. The Studio Apartment was silent and I had a very relaxing stay. They offer free WiFi in every room. The rooms are, in my opinion, nicer that Bluebird Guesthouse, which I also like quite a bit. I'm looking forward to trying out the 3rd Floor Suite next year. -Jessica B.

We recently stayed, for the second time, at the Evermore. As on our first visit, everything was fabulous - room, food & beverages provided, helpfulness of staf, etc,. We recommend the Evermore to anyone staying in Portland, OR. We hope to get back to it again.

I stayed at the Evermore for two nights recently while visiting my daughter in Portland. I loved the Guesthouse and the suite I stayed in was wonderful. It had a separate sitting area and also a large deck off the bedroom. Plenty of windows if you like the fresh air & light. The decor was a mix of old antique-style furniture, and modern bedding. Bathroom was old style but extremely well-kept just like everything else in the building. I'd recommend this B & B to anyone visiting the area.
5 on September 14, 2012
I thoroughly enjoyed my two nights at Evermore. Room was very clean, bed was comfortable, breakfast spread was outstanding, it's the perfect neighborhood location. I've also stayed in their sister guesthouse, The Blue Bird, and had an equally positive experience -- the Evermore is just a tad bit more upscale in size of rooms, etc. I did not meet the owners but am very impressed with the obvious pride of ownership because the property is exceptionally well maintained and thoughtfully furnished to provide the guest with a perfect experience. I will definitely return here.

Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast consisted of bagels or pastries and coffee - decent for a continental breakfast. No room service but the staff was friendly when they were around. Overall I'd recommend and stay there again - a good value.

This is a unique spot in SE Portland with offstreet parking, easy access to I-84 and arterials in all directions, and is in a super bikeable/walkable neighborhood. The evening we stayed around the hotel we just wandered and found all manners of food, drink and fun. Breakfast is a health foodie-oriented continental breakfast, and high quality (they don't skimp on good bread, baked goods, fruit, nice coffee, etc.). We were really pleased with our stay, and the check in/check out was super simple. Would totally recommend this to friends and family!

I stayed in the house on my wedding night, so unfortunately I was only there for about 8 hours. But the bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was so beautiful. The neighborhood and surrounding grounds were also lovely, and it made for a very pleasant walk home.

Gorgeous and well appointed, Evermore exceeded our expectations. From the fun nooks and crannies in the 3rd floor skylight room to the excellent equipment in the compact and stylish kitchenette in the Studio, we enjoyed everything about our stay and look forward to the next time.
4.4 on September 03, 2012
This a beautifully maintained old craftsman style house. We stayed in the studio and would gladly stay there again. Much attention has been paid to details which we admired; high quality window coverings, super quiet and efficient cooling system, special closing latches on cupboards and drawers, lovely bed linens, etc. Also, we liked that we checked ourselves in and out, had breakfast when we chose to, and generally felt like we were at home. I think our only suggestion is that there needs to be a shower guard installed to prevent water from splashing onto the floor. Thank you for a pleasant stay and we'll be back.
4.6 on September 02, 2012
We didn't need the big fancy-shmancy breakfast as we just wanted to be able to grab a quick bite and go. Coffee, bagels and fruit worked for us. Some other guests even made pancakes for themselves. We enjoyed a walk around the area one morning and checked out a food pod and a yard sale and watched all the bicycle traffic flow down Clinton street. The room was comfortable, spacious, and quiet, despite being located on a busy street. There was usually someone around if we needed more towels or had a question. I have family in Portland and usually visit once a year. We will definitely make plans to stay at Evermore Guesthouse again.

Evermore is a lovely historical home, though hard to see the driveway from the street, but I understand the overgrowth acts to shield the noise from the main street. The rooms were bright and clean and beds were very comfortable. I especially enjoyed the honor system for breakfast. You were given a variety of breakfast foods and beverages to choose from without actually having to sit with a stranger at breakfast. Overall, this B&B exceeded my sisters and I expectations.
3.4 on August 29, 2012
Stayed 8 days. Was told linens/towels would be changed after every 3 days- this only happenned once. They need to provide access to more towels particularly. Parking lot should be striped to allow for better parking. Signage out front lacking, so finding the property initially was very difficult. The self-serve breakfast isnt bad and was pretty good. The house itself is realy nice and my room was very comfortable and clean.

The Evermore Guesthouse is the perfect location for us, near our daughter. We have stayed there 3 times and love going back to the same room. The workers were helpful and very courteous.

Very nice rooms. Good continental self serve breakfast. Great access to dining and shopping Division St. as well as other neighborhoods in Southeast. I will definitely be back!
4.8 on August 22, 2012
One of the best guesthouses we've stayed at. Room was large with a private balcony, which was a great place to bring the help-yourself breakfast up to and to have guests over. Everything was clean, well-appointed, and it was quiet, even on a somewhat busy street. We had one little problem with the A/C, but it was fixed ASAP and we got a little discount on the bill. I'd stay here again definitely.

Great stay in the attic room, amazing house, great breakfast, nice relaxed hosts - also close to public transportation - within a short blocks walk. Overall really nice stay. Didn't want to leave.
2.6 on August 14, 2012
Great old treasure of a house but they have neglected the exterior - it is aging badly and the grounds do not appear to be even on the list, much less a priority. We had a private balcony with chairs but the area was not kept up to a level that would make you want to rest there. A good sweep and a clean of the patio furniture would help - more attention would be great - a little paint and a couple of plants maybe? Room was clean and neat - arranged in a way that allowed movement and use. The house is located on a major street and the traffic noise level is noticeable well into the night. Service personnel was nonexistent. They did put out self-service breads and cereals for breakfast, but one morning my husband had to get the things out of the fridge - he was apparently first up but it was well after 8AM. Coffee was plentiful and adequate. If you call for assistance with reservations, the answering machine tells you NOT to call the 'special number" unless you are checking in on that day - makes it seem as though they cannot be bothered with anyone but today's clients. They do return calls, but I would not consider the response prompt nor particularly considerate. You just don't get the impression that you are much more than a revenue stream - no special care, no special attention to detail - just the bare minimum for a standard to above average price. In a city full of stellar B& B's in glorious old homes, as well as stunning boutique hotels, and funky hipster digs - the Evermore is going to have to try harder (much harder) in order to get any returning business. Nevermore for us.
Thank you for your review, we will take to heart the feedback regarding the yard and patio. Our on-call phone definitely is available to anyone "currently checked in today", as it states, apologies that you misunderstood the message. Regarding the service, we are a guesthouse and have never advertised as a high end bed and breakfast, and our rates reflect that. We are about the house all day, sometimes in the office and sometimes cleaning rooms or doing laundry, etc. We carry the phone so are available to meet up with you within 30 seconds, and are happy to assist with anything you need. As the majority of our guests want a unique Portland neighborhood experience on their own terms and schedule we strive to not be over-bearing, and our apologies if you took this as anything else.

What a great find! My wife and I stayed here during the week of the Brewfest and were surprised by how few guests there seemed to be. It's a charming old house, comfortable and very well maintained. The kitchen is well-stocked for diy breakfasts. If you prefer something special La Petite Provence is just up the street on Division. Parking is off the street and a direct bus to downtown is a block away. The young ladies who are there in the morning and cleaning during the day are very helpful. We'll definitely return.

We've never stayed in a B&B where we had to make our own breakfast!!! It would have been interesting to have a history of the house available.
Thank you for the review and the suggestion to have a house history available, I will put one together from what we've been able to learn! Regarding the breakfast, we do try to make it as clear as possible in our listings that the breakfast is continental, and our website goes a step further by detailing the offerings.

The common areas are lovely, but our room (the studio apartment) was very ordinary. The bathroom sink didn't drain well, and we could have used more towels. If you want a warm and fuzzy B&B experience, this isn't for you. We didn't mind making our own breakfast and taking care of our own room. It would have been nice to have clean towels at midpoint in our 5-night stay. Close to public transportation to downtown Portland.
We will get right on the drain immediately, please don't hesitate to let us know during your stay if anything is not working properly. Regarding the towels, etc., we put in detail on our website, as well as the welcome letter left on your bed at check-in, that while we do not automatically perform daily room service we are more than happy to provide any cleaning or towels/linens upon request. We have found this helps keep costs down significantly, which we would otherwise have to pass on to the room rates, while still providing a level of service that all our guests are happy with.

A beautiful room in a beautiful house - gorgeous historical details throughout. Options for the self-serve continental breakfast were limited. More fruit choices and yogurt would have been appreciated.

We enjoyed our week at Evermore very much. The room was comfortable and quiet, the breakfast company was interesting, and the location was perfect for our needs! We hope to stay there on our next trip to Portland.

The 3rd floor suite was very spacious with a separate living room area, two windows that opened to the treetops, and a luxurious bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. The guesthouse is conveniently located with ample parking as well as a bus stop across the street to the airport and another bus stop a couple of blocks away that takes you down town in about 20-30 minutes. It was very peaceful. I hardly saw anyone else. The breakfast available was grab and go which worked for me because I had to be in the city each day.
2.2 on July 24, 2012
First, the place is hard to find, no sign. The old mansion is elegant but cold in an emotional sense. We saw no one except other guests during our stay. Breakfast was "make your own" from carbs; no protein available. The expected breakfast with hosts and other guests was conspicuous in its absence. And, it is overpriced. I would not recommend it as a B&B; as a highway stop over motel, it would do.
4.0 on July 21, 2012
Evermore is conveniently located to the bus stops. Although there is ample parking available, if you want to avoid the hassle of parking in downtown Portland, the bus trip is quick 20 minutes to SW Main Street and SW 2nd Avenue. The public transport to and from the airport took about an hour. On a different note, the 3rd floor suite is extremely spacious and comfortable with a fabulous modern bathroom.

My husband and I spent one night in a lovely 2nd floor suite which included a comfortable bed, sitting area with fireplace and a balcony surrounded by beautiful, big trees. The neighborhood of old, restored houses with lots of colorful vegetation is lovely. The breakfast was self-serve and had a variety of foods although I would suggest including eggs on the menu.

I enjoyed my stay in the lovely older house, impressed by the large, clean rooms and beautiful wood floors and appointments. Comfortable bed. It was refreshing to be left on my own to make coffee and partake of the breakfast foods and meet some of the other folks staying there. The location was perfect for my visit. I would definitely recommend the place to others.

I have been there for four nights; didn't actually expect the place to be that good. The neighbourhood is very quiet and clean. The staff were very friendly and helping. The only less pleasant point is breakfast food variety was not adequate. I would recommend it to a frind and whenever I am coming back to Portland it will be first place to look for vacancies in.

The rooms are clean. The place is not close to the city center, but the bus connection is good and there are many places to eat nearby.

We chose the Evermore because it was very conveniently located near in South East Portland and close to Reed College. It was the perfect place to stay. The setting is beautiful with a historic feel and gorgeous large stained glasses in the foyer. I was also quiet (you let yourself in with a door code, there was no TV in the room which I think was a great thing) so perfect for a vacation and to catch up on your reading. The rooms are large and the beds VERY comfortable, with nice touches like robes and delicately scented soap). If you needed to check your email there was a computer in the lobby with a very fast connection. Breakfast included assorted pastries (the scones were delicious), and there was always fresh fruit which I really liked, in addition of course to milk/coffee and cereal. It was very easy to get something if you needed a snack at night. The hosts were very discrete but available if we needed them. They were really nice to let us use the washing machine dryer in the basement. The inn location was very convenient in that you could easily walk to a convenience store, a drugstore, Clinton Corner (that had small coffee shops) as well as a few blocks away from shopping (great consignment stores in Portland) and several excellent restaurants. You could also catch the bus on the corner. There was plenty of parking in the back (free) which was great when friends came to meet us. Overall I highly recommend the Evermore.

Evermore Guesthouse is a great place to stay. The house is beautiful, rooms spacious and well appointed, and I believe the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have EVER slept on. I expect a B&B to have a cooked breakfast though - but the website is very clear that it really is a Bed & Cook it yourself breakfast, so we knew what to expect. Still, for the price, I really wanted breakfast.

Our first visit to Evermore House was in January this year. It became our safe harbor from the wonderful chaos surounding out neice's wedding reception. The peace and quiet, the home-like surroundings, very comfortable bed, spacious room and generous breakfast offerings suited us perfectly. While it initially seemed a bit odd that we had to prepare our own breakfast, by the second day, the lack of a formal, time-regimented meal had enormous appeal. We could rise and eat on our own schedule, whether early or late, were offered good variety; lots of fruit and other healthful choices; excellent coffee. Same niece, second verse. This past weekend, we stayed at the Evermore House again to attend our niece's graduation from University of Portland Nursing School. This time we stayed in the 3rd floor suite. In all honesty, it was a bit of an effort to haul 2 senior citizens of particular over 60+ age and luggage up three flights the first day, but by the second day, we had honed our climbing skills and it was not quite so daunting. The room more than made up for the access issue. As before, we were pleased with the entire facility, the breakfast offerings and the peace and quite offered by the House. The house, east of I-5 and downtown by about 3 1/2 miles or so, has easy access. There are quite good restaurants nearby and some in walking distance. Due to the ease of coming and going, not dealing with downtown high-rise and/or pay-for parking in the huge hotels, the distance from the downtown core area is an enormous benefit. The Evemore House remains our choice when visiting Portland from our rural, mid-Oregon Coast home.

I found my room at the Evermore Guesthouse to be very comfortable, the bed and bedding were awesome. It is a clean, comfortable and safe feeling place, just the right amount of amenities. I loved this hauntingly beautiful guest house, amazing stain glass panels, spartan, classic furniture, and well loved hardwood. It was romantic and poetic, comfortable and thoughtful. We had to arrange a quick stay in Portland for three days on short notice. We usually stay at this B &Bs sister house, The Bluebird. Unfortunatly they were booked up, so we tried the Evermore for the first time. We found The Evermore a lovely venue, a very impressive older home in an established neighborhood. It is very convenient to local shops and restaurants, and we really appreciate the 'hands off' but professional housekeeping staff. We will always recommend The Evermore and The Bluebird to any visitor to Portland.

Recently we spent 3 nights in the Skylight Room. We were impressed with how clean and comfortable our room was. The bed, pillows, and bedding were comfy and high quality. The self-serve breakfast foods were fresh and tasty. Self-serve breakfast suites our lifestyle by not having to eat breakfast at any set time. We loved the style of the house and its beautiful, peaceful ambiance. We plan to stay at the Evermore Guesthouse next time we are in Portland.

Very nice, spacious suite in quiet neighborhood. We never saw any staff, which was a bit disconcerting. The only problem was that we had no hot water the first night because the water heater had broken.
Thank you for the kind words and good ratings. I regret that we were not able to meet you in person, this happens occasionally but most often we do see guests during their stay. The staff go about the house answering emails in the office, cleaning guest rooms / bathrooms, doing laundry in the basement, landscaping outside etc. Next visit feel free to call us, we carry the phone and love getting a chance to take a break to meet you in person! Apologies about the hot water, it was fixed later that night. Contact us directly as we would like to offer you a discount on your stay.

I can think of no better way to experience Portland than staying at the Evermore. It is an easy walk to numerous restaurants and shops that exemplify a range of the Southeast Portland culture: Skavone's, Stumptown, Lauro and Pix for food, Village Merchant, Red Light and the Hawthorne district if you want to find interesting stuff to purchase or just window shop for. The Guesthouse itself was so welcoming and comfortable. I only wish we'd been able to stay longer.

I have always been leery of B&Bs, worried about noise, cleanliness, and heaven forbid having to share a bathroom or kitchen. This was so clean and quiet. The bed was great and I won't stay in a corporate-feeling, impersonal hotel again when I'm in Portland. Our daughter is at Reed College and I expect we will be regular visitors. I liked that there was no maid service during my stay, as it felt very private and safe.

This is a beautiful arts and crafts mansion nicely restored with full amenities. The suite rooms are roomy and well appointed. Ours was the largest top room with a beautiful bathroom. Still a little spare on the furnishings, as they have recently renovated the building. The public rooms could use some period or oriental rugs and traditional if new arts and crafts furnishings could augment some of the collected antiques that are more of the cottage or victorian type. Breakfast is serve-your-self, in a well stocked kitchen except for eggs (which I had to take a block walk to purchase), a must have for those of us limiting carbs. With just these few improvements, it would have been rated outstanding instead of exceed. I would return.

The private and community rooms were warm and welcoming and super clean. Loved the decor and character of this charming place. The well equipped and plentifully stocked kitchen was an added bonus. Friendly, helpful staff as well. Everything was "Top Drawer!"

We were blown away by the beautiful detail at this gem of a house. Everything was elegant and spacious and clean. Recommending to others and can't wait for a repeat stay.

This is without a doubt the best B and B we have stayed at. The rooms are spacious, clean, and have great amenities. This will now be our place whenever we are in Portland

We stayed in the 3rd floor skylight room. The room was a delight: cozy, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and clean and we enjoyed the big clawfoot tub. You can tell they've done a lot of work to make sure everything looks beautiful and well ordered and works well. And the location was so close to Hawthorne where we like to walk and shop. We really enjoyed our stay!

The house and rooms are lovely and very comfortable. I was dismayed, however, to find that there is no maid service so the beds are not made and the towels are not changed out on a daily basis. Had I known, I would have opted for a hotel.
Thank you for your kind words about the house. Regarding the maid service we do post on our website that we do not do a daily clean but that we are happy to take care of any requests. We also re-iterate this info on the welcome letter the guest receives in their room upon arrival. Many guests do not need or want daily service, which helps keep the price lower for everyone, and the guests that do want daily service need just ask!

Evermore's history and attention to details and furnishings shine though. Beautifully restored to reflect it's heritage with modern comforts. Staff are friendly and helpful. We live in a character house and Evermore reminds us of a little bit of home.

We called on the day that we needed a reservation, and they happened to have an opening. Luckily if you reserve your room on the day of, you get a $40 discount on the room rate. It was a pleasant surprise, since this place would have been well worth the normal rate. It was really nice to stay in such a cozy room with an amazing bed. If you have a little bit of money to spend on a good room, then I would definitely recommend the Evermore Guest House.

Once a year, we travel from PA to Portland OR to visit my son. Normally, we stay at the Bluebird Guesthouse on Division Street. This year, we were fortunate enough to stay at the Bluebird's sister guesthouse, Evermore, just a few blocks away from the Bluebird. What a wonderful old structure! The rooms were charming, with several nice amenities. Chris and staff have always been more than happy to accommodate us during our stays. We won't consider staying any other place in Portland...it's our home away from home!
