Mt. Emily Ranch Bed & Breakfast is a fabulous Custom Log Home on 135 acres overlooking the beautiful Chetco River Valley. Our acreage includes gorgeous woodlands, creeks and a small pond. Situated 5 1/2 miles up the South Bank of the Chetco, it affords wonderful views of the river valley and Mt. Emily; we enjoy warmer temperatures located above the fog line. The spacious Log Home provides comfortable living spaces and fun activities for all our guests. Staying on a working ranch offers some unique advantages - organic produce is readily available in season; apples, peaches, berries and plums from the orchard; vegetables from the garden; eggs from our own chickens and fresh farm raised beef. Imagine waking up to birds singing, wildlife wandering through the pasture, the smell of fresh bread baking, and the amazing view of the Chetco River Valley just outside your window.

My wife and I stayed the weekend of 8/5/17 for a quick getaway from near Eureka, Ca. This was our first stay at this property, so we were not certain of what it would be like. Our overall impression is the owner and property a a near perfect balance of creating a very relaxing space for a county setting, that melts away work or city stresses. The house is well appointed with appropriate mountain home/lodge/ranch style furnishings and lots of space to find your own quite nook to read or strike up a conversation with other guests. The size of the two main bedrooms is larger than my main living room at home, with direct river valley views, so no one should feel cramped. With local birds and wildlife visiting the front yard and cows from the working ranch grazing in the nearby pastures, the setting very much provides an opportunity to slow down and look at the world outside and set busy life things on hold for a few days. There are several areas outside to sit in comfortable chairs and read, watch a sunset or the free-range chickens do their thing. Carol, the host is very attentive and provided breakfasts that were fantastic, with fresh peaches and berries picked from the property that morning; just a great extra effort for an already great experience. Be aware the location is about 5 mi. from Brookings and on a dirt driveway from the river road. You may have to dodge cows on the driveway and you will be on a working ranch with occasional cow mooing, dog barks and some dust outside. If you are not looking for a white-glove, sterile setting, but instead a very spacious and homey setting to truly relax, this is the property for you. I would recommend highly.
Thank you! I enjoyed your visit and the conversations with the other guests. Please come back again:)

We chose the Mt. Emily Ranch B & B mostly because of the location near the Oregon-California border, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Carol is a wonderful hostess, the rooms are excellent, and breakfast was very good, with homemade jams and syrups as a highlight. Thank you, Carol!

We recently stayed at the Mt. Emily Ranch bed and breakfast. We had a wonderful time there and everything exceeded our expectations. The log cabin is stunning and our room was beautiful and enormous. The views over the Chetco River valley were so lovely, even in the fog and rain. And the breakfasts: oh my goodness, freshly laid eggs, homemade buttermilk bread, waffles from an antique waffle iron with homemade plum syrup from plums grown on the ranch. Everything was delicious and we felt so very welcome. Carol was so hospitable. We are looking for an excuse to go back!

Cozy, comfortable, beautiful home with great view of Chetco river below. We loved the fresh pressed cider and getting to walk around property. Perfect little get -away place!
I'm glad you got the chance to do some walking - we've only had a day or two of hiking weather lately. Thank you for the review:)

My husband and I stayed at the ranch on Oct. 3 and 4 and had a wonderful time. The ranch was lovely and owner Carol was a wonderful host. While there we saw deer, cows, wild turkeys, chickens, cats and a sweet dog. The rooms were spacious and had lovely views to the mountains. Close to town and the ocean, we were able to hike sections of the pacific coast trail. The dining experience was truly farm to table and delicious! We look forward to our next visit. Thank you Carol for your warm hospitality.
Thank you! I'm already missing veggies from the garden. I hope the weather clears a little so I can get the beds prepared for spring planting:)

My husband and I headed out on a tour of the coastline and stayed in B&B's throughout our trip. There was no question that Mt. Emily Ranch was our favorite stop. The Inn was spacious, immaculate and beautiful. Carol could not have made the trip any more special. Great place to stay, great food, great hospitality! We will definitely visit again.
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit as I did :)

We had no reservations, but we called ahead about 30 minutes before we showed up, and the owner said she had some room, but not in the "B & B" portion of her ranch house. The owner was friendly on the telephone, guided us up the hill to her ranch, and gave us very good directions. My wife and I were first greeted by the cow wanting to get into the better grazing that she assumed was inside the automatic gate near the ranch house. The owner also warmly greeted us, shooed the cow away, and she gave us a choice: The first choice was the "family vacation wing", a private part of the main ranch house with its own private entrance. This wing has its own huge, fully equipped country kitchen, its own gigantic living room, with lots of recliners and couches, two beautifully detailed bedrooms, two bathrooms, its own laundry room, and an inner sewing room. The other choice was a separate house a short walk down the gravel driveway, and was a "work in progress", as she had warned us before we came. It was cute, but only partly furnished and unfinished. We took the family vacation wing attached to the main ranch house. All the usual amenities were in place, we lacked for nothing, and our night was clear, starry and very quiet. The owner included us in the usual "B & B" family breakfast and we joined the group even though we had not planned for breakfast. Very well prepared food, great company, and overall, a good value. The driveway is steep, graveled and rutted in spots, but if you are a Westerner, you should have no complaints, unless, of course, you are some kind of Californian, or big city folk.
It was great that you were able to make a last minute booking and I'm happy that you enjoyed your stay!
