Nestled between Kingston and Brockville in Gananoque, the Canadian Gateway to the Thousand Islands, come discover Sleepy Hollow Bed & Breakfast. Built in 1905, Sleepy Hollow is a 7 guestroom, three-story mansion, complete with a turret and wraparound porch a perfect place to escape, relax, or arrange a special get together....like a wedding, family gathering or celebration! Your hosts, Don and Marion Matthews, began running Sleepy Hollow in 2001 and specialize in making your stay in our home a pleasant and memorable experience. On arival we will get you organized and signed in, then get your breakfast menu filled in, (we have 8 choices for breakfast and several options). We have all the local sights and restaurants tested and we have the menus for the best ones right on the front desk. There are maps of the town as well as brochures on the points of interest here in Gananoque and we can point you to anything you need. Breakfast is served between 7:30 and 9:30 and again you choose what time we should expect you. We are right beside the dining room in the kitchen so you can see exactly what we are doing. The bread basket on the table has muffins, toast and a croissant (the bread and muffins are made right here every day so it is fresh, we don’t make the croissants in house but we bake them every morning) There is a Keurig machine in the dining room for tea or coffee anytime. Just ask if you need instructions. We guarantee that breakfast will be a highlight of your stay.

Don & Marion were wonderful hosts! They provided every amenity possible. Breakfast was delicious! They gave us a menu to choose options every morning. We especially appreciated that. Other B&Bs did not offer a choice. Location is perfect - within walking distance of anything we wanted to visit. If you're visiting the area, definitely check out this place ... much nicer than any hotel!

Excellent location and within walking distance of local restaurants, theatre and harbour. Friendly hosts who were very knowledgeable about attractions and directions for various places in the area and beyond. Good breakfast but slightly disappointed that more wasn't provided (e.g. only one small slice of tomato was given with eggs and one toast and only one croissant was given for 2 people to share). Having said this, after breakfast was finished we were asked "Would you like anything else?". Accommodations were very clean.
Thanks for you review. We always can give you more to eat and ask if there is anything else you would like. All we need is your request and we will deliver. The toaster is sitting right there in the kitchen waiting to add another of our home made bread.

This is a very nice place to stay when visiting Gananoque. The rooms are spacious and clean. We were welcomed by the hosts Don and Mario and they prepared a great breakfast for us. You should stay here. You won't be sorry.

My husband and I were just looking to getaway for a mini R & R and thought what better way than a B & B. We have been to a few of them in the past and I must say this ranking #1 when all considered. Great price, place and people. The mini muffins at breakfast were absolutely Scrumptious!!!!! We also loved the fact that we could select what we wanted vs. just be given something, served to order. There was even a pool table in the games room (wiht many other games) that we enjoyed instead of just the regular tv watching (which there was none!). At first we thought oh no there's no tv, we're going to be so bored LOL but it turned out to be a blessing we absolutely loved it cause it forced us to enjoy the simple things in life. Don and Marion were both wonderful host and very accommodating to our needs. Sleepy Hollow is indeed a hidden treasure, waiting to be deiscovered!

Fantastic bed and breakfast.....especially the breakfast. Rooms are nice, old house has great charm. We stayed with another couple, visited on the large front porch and played pool everyday. Great get away for friends where you can talk or play a game in a quiet setting. Don and Marion are great hosts.

We haden't read anything about this place beforehand. We just happened to drive past, thought it looked nice and stopped. Absolutely lovely place and I would recommend it to anyone. Great location, great breakfast and friendly hosts. Would come back again, if it wasn't so far away from Europe. :-)
Tara is a spacious, warm, inviting room. The largest of the bedrooms on the second floor (15 x 13 plus the alcove area), this room has a king bed, an ensuite bathroom with oversized shower. In the alcove area, a "SofTub" hot tub has been added, a table and chairs for a quiet spot to read or for your first cup of coffee in the morning. This is our most requested room.
Travancore is the "room at the top" right under the turret roof. A king size bed, the largest of the ensuite bathrooms that includes an extra large "Ultra tub", the best whirlpool experience because it pumps air rather than water. Travancore looks out on the town and the Gananoque River. A great place to hide from the everyday cares and pressures of the outside world. Emerge refreshed and ready to take on whatever awaits. Travancore is the room name that most of our guests ask about. It used to be a province that was the Riviera of India where Don's great grandfather worked building a bridge in the previous century. We hope we have created here a Riviera of Sleepy Hollow.
Located on the third floor where roof lines and room shapes are unique, Camelot is quiet and secluded. This room (16 x 18) has a king bed and has it's own 4 piece bathroom ensuite which includes an elegant "soaker tub". A heavenly retreat overlooking the back garden. For the folks that have been here before this room has changed in decor and the new soaker tub will be another reason to return to Camelot.
A quiet and cozy room. This room (13 x 13) has a king bed and a full ensuite bathroom that includes a bathtub with shower directly accessible from the room. It is a favorite with our nautical minded guests. It is on the west side of the house and so the morning sun doesn't wake you quite so early.
A restful and whimsical room. And the stained glass window enhances the theme. The room (13 x 13) contains your choice of two twin beds or a King bed (be sure to let us know your choice) and a small 3-piece en suite bathroom and as you can see below, the sink is in the room.
Flowers on the inside make this a bright, sunshine-filled room. It overlooks the back garden and the morning sun through the stained glass window will get you up early. A large octagonal room (18 x 16), this room has a Queen bed and includes a private 4 piece bathroom next door. It has a double pull-out couch so that 4 people can sleep in this room ($30 each for the third and fourth person). An Extra 1 or 2 persons on a pull out double bed can be added in Eden for $30.00 each.
Located on the third floor, Provence has a Queen size bed and a private 3 piece bath across the hall (a great new shower). The decorating style here was influenced by our visit to the south of France and Peter Mayle's book "A Year in Provence".
Take the whole house 7 rooms for the ultimate family/corporate getaway (per night for up to 14 persons) This includes the Dining room Living rooms and Library use. It does not include use of the Kitchen. (We do have a contract Caterer available for your every culinary need and there is a 15% gratuity added to these special events).

We had explored Eastern Ontario many times on our boat sailing among the 1000 Islands. The B&B was advertised for sale and we have never looked back. Gananoque with it's proximity to the 1000 Islands (a 6 minute walk away) has been our home since 2001 and we think this area is second to none.
Low fat , Restrictive , Vegetarian Most any request or diatary specialties can be accommodated.
Our Eggs Benedict are served on a fresh Croissant with our own home made hollandaise sauce....mmmm! This is only one of our 8 choice breakfast menu. Stay several nights and try them all. Other choices include Eggs Florentine, Mexican Egg Fiesta, Omelettes, French Toast, Pancakes and Belgian Waffles.
