Nice Stay

You really should remove the onsite dining category since it is bring your own food. There is a nice selection of yogurt, bread, etc. though.

Simply Amazing

Holmes with a view is a spectacular place to lounge, relax, and enjoy the breathtaking views from the wraparound deck. My mom and I decided to take a last minute trip and couldn't find a vacant place to stay. Holmes with a View had one room available. I wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else. We are planning to come back just to spend more time enjoying the room and scenery. We will bring groceries and cook in our room to avoid having to leave. I took some brochures and have told several people about Holmes with a View. Can't wait to return!

Our favorite getaway!

4.6 on August 12, 2017

This is our go to place now when we need to disconnect and take time for us. The rooms are basically an apartment so we have all we need to not venture out if we desire. Rooms are peaceful and the view makes us not want to leave. It's perfect. To clarify I gave onsite dining met my expectations because there is none unless you cook yourself which is what I knew. If you want to reconnect and slow down I recommend a stay here :)

A Lovely Place to Stay

4.2 on August 04, 2017

My husband and I stayed here mid-July 2017. I booked a month and a half in advance and received a really great rate. Situated in the back roads of Ohio's Amish Country, Holmes with a View provides a quiet environment surrounded by greenery, cows, horses, and singing birds. I loved sitting on the front porch with my coffee enjoying the sights and sounds. The birds were chirping away, cows were in the field, the rooster crowed from a distance . . .I loved it! The fresh loaf of bread, yogurts, cinnamon buns, and juices, were awesomely good! The strawberry jam was delicious! I do have one bone to pick, there was a water problem while we were there (3 night stay), so this meant we couldn't enjoy the hot tub or the huge spa tub in our bathroom. It was necessary to provide us with bottled water. The gallon of water for 3 nights and 4 days for making coffee and drinking, was not enough and I didn't realize this until our 3rd night when it was too late to call or go out to buy. This was a disappointment and nothing was offered for our inconvenience.

WATER ISSUES WHEN WE STAYED

2.2 on August 02, 2017

BEWARE! We visit Amish Country often, this was our first stay at Holmes With A View. The place was beautiful but had bad water issues. We filled the whirlpool tub twice and the water was very brown with some sort of sediments everywhere. Tried contacting the number provided and we were unable to reach anyone! I emailed the owner when we got home and he apologized and stated they were aware of the issue and that because of problems with their well they had to start purchasing water and were very unhappy with the poor quality. He stated that they try to inform guests UPON ARRIVAL of the issue! So basically once they already have taken your money they will let you know that you have water that you wouldn't even want to shower in and forget using the whirlpool tub! The home was beautiful and clean but I am curious if by Health Department standards if they can continue to rent with such bad water issues and how anyone could feel good about themselves taking money from people and not giving them what they have paid for. Make sure you ask about water issues before making reservation because these people will not be honest and let you know! We were very disappointed that we spent our 28th anniversary in a place where we didn't feel we could even shower! Bad business practice!

Perfect!

This was our 3rd trip to the area. We had never stayed at Holmes with a View before. We stayed in Suite #3, an upper level, full apartment with 2 Qn bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. It was WONDERFUL! The suite had a wonderful view of a valley overlooking the Amish country, with a full wrap-a-round deck with chairs. The suite was super clean and nicely furnished. When we walked in there was a loaf of homemade Amish bread on the counter and two large containers of homemade cinnimon rolls ready to eat. There was a Keurig machine and a coffee maker on site. In the fridge was both regular and decaf coffee available, butter, cream, yogurts and various fruit juices. Guests can also request fresh brown farm eggs. We were staying 4 days, so we requested a dozen eggs and they were delivered that evening and was told more would be available on request. The suite was close to all the areas we wanted to see...so if we went to an Amish food store, we could make a quick trip back to the suite and put the food in the fridge for later. We had a very relaxing time (never turned the TV on once). Thery have satelite TV, free WiFi, books, videos and cards available for entertainment. It was right next to an Amish farm so we often heard the rooster crow and peacocks calling if we had the windows open or the screen door open. We loved the suite, the area and the slow, relaxed pace of life at Holmes with a View.

wonderful!

we loved this place! The accommodations were more than adequate and extremely thoughtful and clean. The view from the porch was amazing - very restful and peaceful place to be.

Fantastic Getaway!

The stay at Holmes with a view was fantastic! The view was amazing with horses and cows right there, the horses were friendly and you could let them. The hot tub was awesome! The only thing I did not like was that if you stay in a bottom unit you do not have control of the thermostat, only the top unit has control. Luckily it was still cool outside or we would be been very warm!
